Belgian singer-songwriter, engineer and producer Mark L. Oakes releases the ideal soundtrack for a karmic road trip with his debut album ‘Call Me The Moon’.

Mainly tracked at Mark's home studio in the heart of the Ardennes, the record has been finalised with the help of Londoner cellist Ben Trigg and mastered by Grammy award winner Gavin Lurssen in Los Angeles.

The shadows of Oakes' idols are never far and it's easy to imagine his boundless admiration for the likes of Neil Young, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Tucker Zimmerman and Ryan Adams.

While singles ‘Shredded Jeans’ and ‘Friend From Above (Sleepless Spouse)’ are tinged with soft melancholy, tunes like ‘Aloof Again’ and ‘None Of These Roads’ will lead you straight to a risky, bitter ground.

Travelling between Europe and the United States with a bag full of projects, Mark sees ‘Call Me The Moon’ as the silver thread out of the vague existential maze.

Says Tara, “Both the concept and meaning behind 'Trustless' are autobiographical. I've been through life's toughest moments and have come out on the other side much stronger for it. I've decided to tell my story both for therapeutic reasons and also in hopes that it can relate to and offer support to others in the same situation.

“The entire 'Evil Enough' album is a musical autobiography. Very often, the term 'blood, sweat and tears' is used as a metaphor to describe the work one puts in to something that they are 110% invested in. This would be an accurate metaphor where I am concerned. It has been a tremendously emotional journey into my own soul in order to both write the lyrics that explain my experiences, as well as write the melodies to convey the feelings involved within each experience.”

Primarily self-taught, Tara played both electric and acoustic guitar and wrote songs in her childhood, picking up the bass guitar, drums and piano along the way. Very serious about her musicianship and the unending desire to improve, Tara has personally studied guitar with Steve Vai (Frank Zappa, David Lee Roth, Whitesnake, Alcatrazz), drums with Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), bass with Björn Englen (Yngwie Malmsteen, Tony MacAlpine, Quiet Riot, Soul Sign, Dio Disciples) and piano with Derek Sherinian (Dream Theater, KISS, Alice Cooper, Yngwie Malmsteen, Billy Idol).

In 2015, Tara accepted the invitation from Geert Fiew (founder of Belgian band Beyond the Labyrinth) to write and perform guitar solos on Beyond the Labyrinth's upcoming fourth album, “The Art of Resilience”, to be released in early 2017.  At the same time, Tara began writing for her own upcoming debut album, “Evil Enough”.

Los Angeles - Lunden Reign's recent CrueFest concert at the world famous Whisky A Go-Go in West Hollywood proved to be yet another powerhouse show. While sharing the stage with heavy hitters L.A. The band's debut concept album “American Stranger” was released on Cleopatra Records March 17, 2015 and began receiving world-wide critical acclaim almost immediately. The 10 original songs are scored with layers of haunting melodies, uplifting guitar riffs blended with a sharp edge and a massive beat.

Laura Espinoza-Lunden's innovative synth guitar riffs along with Nikki Lunden's voice have been at the foreground for the two front women to define the Lunden Reign sound, enhanced by long time producer & co-writer Luis Maldonado (Train, Lisa Marie Presley). The trio are thrilled to have “The Matt's”, Denis and Lucich, joining them for the sophomore album along with master mix-engineer Devin Hoffman. “Confessions” is tuning up to be a phenomenal release, touching on a bit more personal subjects and addressing some of the more pressing matters of the world. The band is currently in writing and recording sessions finishing up the last few songs and hope to have a release announcement soon.

Bull Funk Zoo Releases Explosive And Unruly Second Album 'Dangerous Radio'

Following the release of his fiery and ballsy singles 'Would You' and ‘Burnin’, Bull Funk Zoois on a parade and ready to take the rock industry by storm. Raw and uncompromising, ‘Dangerous Radio’ is BFZ's blindfolded rollercoaster ride of rock, funk, blues, sex and the news, all the while tipping his hat to masters like Jimi Hendrix, Chilli Peppers, Range Against The Machine, Clutch, Frank Zappa and the Sex Pistols.

While previous collaborations featured Eslam Jawad -M.C (former Gorillaz and Wu Tan Clan) and Hamdan Al-Abri,  ‘Dangerous Radio’ sees Assaad Lakkis a.k.a. Bull Funk Zoo’s debut album was recorded in 2013 and got the highest ratings for an unsigned band’s record by Rolling Stone. In the Middle East, he has made a name for himself, playing in front of up to 30,000 people at concerts, supporting the likes of Sting, Sade, Timbaland and others. Bull Funk Zoo is continuously working on new material, videos and other creative endeavours. He says: "Creativity is my drug of choice, it has got me in a vice.”

Assaad was born in Dubai after his parents had to escape the devastating war in Lebanon in the 70s. As a young boy, music always played a big role at home, which had Assaad growing up to the sounds of James Brown and various Motown artists. When he first saw Kiss performing on TV, the energy of rock’n’roll both intrigued and scared him. Enchanted by the magic of it all, he soon discovered bands like Soundgarden, Megadeth, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Jeff Beck, broadening his musical horizons and leading him to constantly crave new experiences.

At the age of 17, he moved to the US for a few years to attend university, and dig further into unknown musical realms. During this time, he also discovered punk rock and jazz, which soon lead him to realise that the mentality of these genres fitted in perfectly with his own worldview.  Both in music and life, Assaad is a free spirit who is willing to cross boundaries in order to expand his mind. He surrounded himself with like-minded people such as the spoken word artist Eric Bailey and Glen Burris, a well-known horn player who played and recorded with Miles Davison “Man With The Horn”.

Bay Area Rock Songstress Karney to Release Her New Singles Vol. 1: Manifest Destiny w/ I Got Mine From Her Upcoming Full-Length Album Renditions in Early 2017

San Francisco - Karney is a San Francisco-based singer/songwriter that has been making great music for many years, performing across the US and collaborating with many talented and notable artists. Keeping her mind on social justice and positive messages, her lyrical content offers a sardonic and sometimes straight forward approach to many of the issues facing people today, with a message of hope resonating throughout every song she writes. Karney is digitally releasing a handful of new songs between August and the end of 2016 in support of her upcoming full-length album Renditions, due out in early 2017.

While Karney’s eclectic songwriting is based in solid musicianship, her new material echoes a diverse set of musical influences. She will release a series of digital EP’s, featuring a few different renditions of her new songs on each, through her own independent record label, Karney Music & Sounds. The first in the series, Singles Vol. 1: Manifest Destiny w/ I Got Mine, will be released on August 26, 2016. This digital EP will include 2 versions of the track “Manifest Destiny” ranging from a solo acoustic to a full rock band version with drums, bass, electric guitars, overdubs and top notch production.

Some songs in the upcoming series will feature additional remixes rendered by some of Karney’s producer colleagues and friends, exploring Karney’s music in an assortment of other styles. All of these releases will culminate in a full album of recordings titled Renditions which has a tentative release of March, 2017.

For this body of work, Karney has been collaborating with other Producers and musical artists in the SF Bay Area such as: Producer/engineer Mark Pistel (Michael Franti, Grace Jones, Chuck Prophet, www.markpistel.com); Producer/Engineer Michael Rosen (Rancid, Tesla, Smashmouth, Santana, and Papa Roach, www.michaelsrosen.com); Adam Munoz (Herbie Hancock, Dave Mathews, Branford Marsalis, Joshua Bell, Chester Thompson and Lyle Lovett); and renown trumpet player, recording artist and producer Bill Ortiz (Santana, Destiny's Child, Tito Puente, Tony Toni Tone, www.billortiz.com).

Also joining Karney on these new recordings are members of her live band, including long time musicians Jeff Herrera (Drums), Kimon Manolius (Bass and Vocals) and Mike Doyle (Guitar), while Karney holds down Guitar and Lead Vocals on all songs.

Additionally, Karney is very excited to be working with New York based visual artist Susan Kaprov, who will bring a dynamic visual interpretation to her songs with assorted artwork. She is also now adding youth choral director to her list of musical endeavors, having recently received the esteemed “Dreamcatcher” award from the Visual and Performing Arts division of the San Francisco Unified School District for her work as a choral teacher and conductor for middle and high school students, as well as her contribution to the furthering of music education in the San Francisco public school system.

Karney has created music in the ballet and contemporary dance world for many choreographers and dancers such as Edward Valela, Anna Sokolo, San Francisco Ballet School, Margaret Jenkins Dance Company, Oberlin Dance Collective, Richard Gibson and The Academy of Ballet, June Watanabe, Joe Goode, Lucas Hoving, Ed Mock, Janice Garret, Melissa Fenley and many, many more. Prog Ensemble Light Freedom Revival Drops Debut Single “Close Your Eyes And Feel”

Toronto, Canada - Exciting project Light Freedom Revival, based in Toronto, Canada, has just released its debut single titled “Close Your Eyes And Feel.” The project is led by Canadian singer-songwriter John Vehadija who is teaming up with the likes of Billy Sherwood, Oliver Wakeman and Eric Gillette for his highly anticipated upcoming album due for release this Fall.

Based on John’s interpretation of reunion, “Close Your Eyes And Feel” tells the story of a short-lived romance between a couple who discover that they were bound by their love in a previous life. Faced with the decision of accepting their interlocked souls or searching for a fresh start, the pair cannot resist their infinite compassion for one another. In the end, they are brought together once more to represent the power of history in every loving relationship.

John, who wrote the track, said: “This song stayed with me for a while, I had to get it out there!”

Accompanying John, who also performs lead vocals on the track, is Marisa Frantz (lead vocals and violin) who claims: “I love the final mix of the song. Very full sound. Nicely done.”

Jamie Glaser (acoustic guitar) added: “I wanted to get the right attitude, cuz it’s such a cool track!”

Phil Ockelford (electric guitar & bass), Eric Butterfield (drums), Aly Frank (piano & keyboards) and Artem Zhulyev (sax) also contributed to the single. Aly said: “The piano sounds very nice just on its own.”

The single EP contains the full studio track alongside four brand new alternatives, including acoustic, symphonic, remix and instrumental versions.

John explained: “The contrast between the symphonic and the remixed versions was chosen to symbolize the difference between the past and present lifetimes.”

The North Coast Release Dazzling Single ‘With You’

Hailing from different locations across the north coast of America, The Northcoast’s three members come from New York, New Jersey and Seattle. They are the perfect example of how distance is no barrier to making music and with the aid of technology they have been emailing projects to each other and making music for over 10 years.

"With You" is their latest sparkly single, produced by Tom Lord-Alge, and is the perfect accompaniment to a long road trip or lazing on the grass on a summer's day.

Each member of the group has played at least three instruments since childhood and this, combined with their multi-cultural backgrounds, has given the group a plethora of musical influences and experience. Combining the pumping beats of Michael Jackson and bass lines of Passion Pit and Chvrches, there really is something for everyone to enjoy.

The Northcoast have realised their childhood dream of both making and performing music. Having made an impact on the stages of Vans Warped Tour and played alongside big names such as Gia Farrell, their future is already looking bright!

Though their Euro Anthem 'Build us a Dream' was undoubtedly a rather amusing piece in terms of its origin, The Turner Brothers are on a very serious musical journey having been voted ‘Crowds Favourite Band’ at Hogsozzle Festival both in 2014 and 2015 they are taking on the stage at this year’s Victorious Festival alongside Annie Mac and Manic Street Preachers.

'Lay Low' features a fantastic summery chorus boasting nice and relaxed horns and a silky jazz organ, perfect for dominating radio charts and winning the hearts of audiences nationwide.


Their recent success has led to them being very busy having just played The Curious Yellow Festival, Harlow, set in beautifully designed gardens which created perfect surroundings for an unforgettable weekend. They also enjoyed playing at the magical and light hearted Hogsozzle Festival. Set in beautiful countryside in Hitchin, Hogsozzle has been running for six years and the Turner Brothers have played most of their events. They are also set to play at Victorious Festival, Portsmouth and Bures Music Festival, Suffolk in the coming weeks.

Championing their own very unique sound, The Hallows are an enchanting concoction of Kate Bush, Muse, Portishead and Tori Amoswith their own individual dreamy essence thrown in.

The group’s eclectic sound is a result of the band members’ individual musical meanderings. Sarah has played as a backing vocalist/keyboard/Glockenspiel for Hafdís Huldsupporting the likes of Paolo Nutini, Mika and Bloc Party at festivals as large as Glastonbury and SXSW. Joe meanwhile has supported notorious cult pornographic band Rock Bitch (a band renowned for rarely sporting support acts). He and Sarah have also shared the stage with Ronan Keatingplaying a number of television performances.

Meeting at university, the band shared a house together, in which third band member Dave subjected the group to strict drinking game rules, whilst also ensuring they all ate proper meals (now holding the unofficial title of ‘band chef’).

Sarah has played the role of Snow White whilst working at Disneyland – several elements of this fantasy world clearly making their way into the mystical sound of ‘Element’. As a child, Sarah also lived by a zoo and was kept often awake by roaring lions (the lions would often set the wolves off too, which sounds absolutely terrifying!)

Since forming, the group have been hands on with all aspects of their music including coming up with video concepts, artwork, set design, production and blogging.

Their upcoming album Of Time and Tides is out August 29^thand the single ‘Element’ is out July 4^th

The group explain: ‘The album is about life, relationships and how things can change over time. The album was written in the spirit of a bygone era because we wanted to encapsulate elements within all our lives that have influenced us both musically and personally. Sarah draws inspiration for the lyrics from the elements because they represent the never ending cycle of life and time in which we exist for a moment. We have combined these influences to create an album that displays our love for atmospheric instrumentation, lush melodies and, hopefully, pop songs you will want to sing along to.’

60s rock single with a modern indie twist out May 6th Pink Fireball are a raw, upcoming four-piece with energy to burn and a genuine flair for song writing. Based on a contemporary indie foundation, their sound is embellished with flowing psychedelic aspects from the 60s which give them a uniquely fresh edge. New single ‘Turn Around’ is out May 6th and perfectly showcases this blend of the old and the new. It all started with an infectious guitar riff and grew from there into the off kilter indie treat it has become. Also worthy of note is the horn section – not common in the rock genre in recent years, the band took inspiration from retro movie soundtracks such as Mission Impossible, James Bond and Batman to add this extra flavour to the tune. The animated video is a superb companion to the track as it takes a trip through 60s sci-fi and beyond – you can check out both the track and the clip below.

 

The video itself is yet another fine representation of the band’s outlook and creativity. Created on construction paper, it was developed through painstaking stop motion. It took hours to create the few minutes of footage for the video, which typifies the dedication and attention to detail Pink Fireball are capable of.

‘Turn Around’ sets a high standard for a band who have the potential to go a long way in the music industry. And with an album being recorded in London, 2016 is likely to represent a huge step forward for Pink Fireball – a band who certainly deserve wider acclaim if their high level of creativity and wit is anything to go by.

Those Damn Eyes' debut single release, “Mysterious Mixture” was written by vocalist Alyssa Ehrhard and guitarist Daniel Corder. Lyrical and melodic work took place shortly after the pair met in July of 2014, while music was written in the fall of 2013 and recorded in January '14. The band has had the fortunate opportunity to create its recordings with producer and bassist, Matt Noveskey. Their sessions take place at Orb Studios, a masterfully built studio in West Austin. Noveskey's experienced ear and knowledge of exceptional tone has been essential in forging the band's sonic identity.

Alyssa excels as an artist; in addition to her vocal talents, she is an exceptionally talented painter and uses her skilled-hand in creating band artwork. Daniel is a devoted composer and multi-instrumentalist who hones his skill through eclectic musical taste and collaborations in differing genres. Jake Rabin, drummer, has an admirable amount of talent and experience through his involvement in various bands in the Austin and Dallas music scenes. Marc Martell, guitarist, has developed a great finesse with lead guitar-work and shares a different project with Jake. Don Denham, bassist, works as a music teacher and bassist for hire and devotes time to his own passion project.
