Multicultural European Singer-Songwriter EMILY JOHNSON Releases Her Debut EP OPEN YOUR HEART Produced By NARADA MICHAEL WALDEN

“She has an extraordinary voice, superb.” - John Mclaughlin

San Rafael, CA - Sometimes known as “The Lady of Heart,” EMILY JOHNSON is a Bulgarian-born Nigerian singer, songwriter, and composer. Having performed around the world for many years, she is releasing OPEN YOUR HEART, her debut EP, on May 11, 2018, with the help of Tarpan Records in the United States. This EP was produced by NARADA MICHAEL WALDEN and features 4 original songs.

EMILY JOHNSON was born in Sofia, Bulgaria, at a time when the country was still under the influence of the Soviet Union. Her mother is Bulgarian and her father Nigerian, a mix which made her quite different from the other children in her own neighborhood and even her own country. Different by color, but also different in her heightened sensitivity which is expressed so wonderfully in her music.

“Open your heart,” EMILY JOHNSON sings on her soon to be released debut EP of the same name. To her this statement is more than words; it is a way of life. On this release of original songs, she creates her art with something beyond passion, giving herself to her audience with a great generosity, energy, and sincerity. Emily brings others together to ignore prejudices, erase borders, and overcome difficulties. She shares with them a simple pleasure which is to SING!

Emily has been fortunate to work with some music industry greats, including the incredible guitarist John McLaughlin who invited her on stage for an emotional performance of “Redemption Song.” Another is the world famous, Grammy Award-winning American producer NARADA MICHAEL WALDEN (Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Aretha Franklin), who graciously opened the doors of his Tarpan Studios to produce OPEN YOUR HEART.

Ever since John McLaughlin discovered EMILY JOHNSON on stage on the Côte d'Azur, the Mahavishnu Orchestra founder has consistently praised her as an artist he already considers “a star.” Emily would certainly reply that she also owes much of her success to his friendship and support. John McLaughlin says, “If one day EMILY JOHNSON is on the top of the charts, it will be because of her talent. She has an extraordinary voice, superb. She has it all! An inner and outer beauty. She can sing everything.”

Emily appreciates this immense compliment coming from an artist with such a career. “He is more than a musician; John McLaughlin is a Legend and a great friend and I am so blessed to know him!” she says. They have performed together several times both live and in the studio. Their relationship is more than beautiful; it is strong, sincere and much more than words.

Even better, John invited EMILY JOHNSON to cross the Atlantic to join NARADA MICHAEL WALDEN, the former Mahavishnu Orchestra drummer who became one of Billboard Magazine’s Top Ten Producers of all time. “John has opened up new horizons for me,” says Emily. “He is not only a friend but also my Light.” “The Light,” as she sings on the track from OPEN YOUR HEART that she wrote and dedicated to him.

OPEN YOUR HEART features some amazing performances, with NARADA MICHAEL WALDEN playing many instruments and featuring performances by Chris “Heist” Walden (Keyboards/Electronic Drums, “Open Your Heart”), Jim Reitzel (Guitar, “Open Your Heart”), and Cornell “CC” Carter and Deedee Simon (Back-up Vocals, “The Light” and “Open Your Heart”). The song “I’m Blessed” features Rapper G-Dub. OPEN YOUR HEART was recorded at Tarpan Studios by Jim Reitzel and mixed by Dave Frasier.

Today this beautiful story continues with new collaborations on both sides of the Atlantic and with the release of her first project, simply titled OPEN YOUR HEART. An obvious choice, isn't it?

Singer/Songwriter David Fitzpatrick to Release Studio Album "Parachutes in Hurricanes"

New album due APRIL 27th

Guitarist/Songwriter David Fitzpatrick who has led Milwaukee’s Dave Fitzpatrick Band for decades will release his first major solo work entitled “Parachutes in Hurricanes” on Daystorm Music. Known for his production résumé, musician/engineer/producer Gary Tanin (Jack Spann, Sam Llanas, Roger Powell, Daryl Stuermer) was recruited to collaborate on Fitzpatrick’s solo opus due to arrive April 27th.

Nearly three years in the making, many musicians provided their artistry along with core members of David’s band. Fitzpatrick and Tanin spent countless session hours crafting the melodies and arrangements that resulted in the compositions on the album. “It was an extensive undertaking that could only have been steered by this songwriter’s single-minded passion for perfection,” explains producer Gary Tanin, “It took David's uncompromising excellence, courage, persistence, and dedication to the art form. I'm extremely proud of our achievement.”

Under the eagle eye of veteran engineer Ric Probst, Planet Green Productions recorded the entourage at Tanner-Monagle, Inc. Guest musicians included Jack Spann, Jazz Guitar legend Dick Eliot, Dave Schoepke, Michael Koch, Ethan Bender, Saxophonist Luke Lilla, and Dave Fitzpatrick Band members Paul Noeske, Gerry Ochoa, Craig Brog and Tom Buckley.

“Fitzpatrick's vocalizing comes on like Metallica's James Hetfield raised on an aural diet of John Mellencamp and The Smithereens tops off a sound at once reassuringly familiar and yet currently unique.” Jamie Lee Rake - Shepherd Express

A “spiritual restlessness” in a body of work that represents a life’s worth of insight, "Parachutes in Hurricanes" balances joy and darkness expressing down-to-earth emotion packed with heartfelt examinations of love and life that every person can relate to.

George St. Clair Voices Heartfelt Narratives About Life in the American West on His New Album Ballads of Captivity and Freedom

London, UK – Part western balladeer, part borderland chronicler, songwriter GEORGE ST. CLAIR is a master of conjuring feelings and images of lives past and present. Growing up on the high plains of Texas put George in touch with the vastness of the American West, and his songs evoke the dry deserts, rolling grasslands, and high mountains of his West Texas homeland. Living for the past several years in the UK has given him a renewed perspective on the land where he grew up, and these reflections take shape on his new album BALLADS OF CAPTIVITY AND FREEDOM. Although George is based in Europe, the album was recorded at Bird and Egg Studios in Richmond, CA, mixed by Ben Bernstein at Petting Zoo Studios in Oakland, and will release in stores and online worldwide March 2, 2018.

GEORGE ST. CLAIR has known Ben Bernstein for many years as a friend, collaborator, and producer, and has long trusted his taste, musicianship, and technical expertise. To break the ice on their first recording session at Bernstein's Petting Zoo Studio, they laid down a quick demo of George’s song “The Places Where They Prayed,” with George playing Ben's vintage Gibson acoustic and singing into a single mic. It seemed to George that they were just getting started, but the initial bounce of the song didn't sound bad at all. George went back to his home in the UK and was floored when he later heard Ben's version complete with drums, bass, and pedal steel. The song came bursting through, sounding authentic and natural. After that George knew he wanted Ben to produce the whole record.

Demos were sent, charts were made, and schedules were coordinated, and they got to work immediately upon George’s arrival back from London. Ben had since put together a great core team of musicians – Dan Lebowitz on guitar and pedal steel, Mike Stevens on drums and congas, and Ben himself on bass. He organized the main sessions in the grand live room at Bird and Egg Studios in Richmond, providing the space and equipment to set up as a live quartet. Steve Sarmiento, Ben's assistant, kept everything ticking and brought a relaxed air along with his technical knowledge. On the final day, Kirby Hammel came in to add great feel and fluidity on organ and piano, which turned out to be a key part of the sound on the forthcoming album.

Experienced and prepared, the musicians got it right away, rehearsing and talking through minor adjustments. As with Ben in the studio, George felt he could trust this team implicitly. With only a few minor additions and adjustments in post-production back at Petting Zoo Studio, these live sessions comprise the new album BALLADS OF CAPTIVITY AND FREEDOM.

GEORGE ST. CLAIR draws on influences from the western Country tradition, Mexican Folk, 1970s Rock, and Texas balladries to narrate hidden stories examining the struggles between Native Americans and white colonizers, and the various plights of migrants to the US. He grew up in and around places where vicious battles were fought over the possession of land, and where large numbers of indigenous people were corralled into encampments. His family background of ranching and wildcat oil prospecting spurred him to probe the more controversial history of that part of the world in his songwriting. With his own sound and point of view, GEORGE ST. CLAIR is a formidable writer who takes the listener to places and times where untold possibilities once existed, and still do.

GEORGE ST. CLAIR cut his musical teeth in Austin, TX, playing Country, Flamenco, and Salsa, and co-founding the band Soniquete, a stalwart of Austin’s Alternative Latin music wave. However, it was while immersed in Latin American music that George’s ideas for melodies and verse still came almost always in the form of country ballads – a type of sound and feeling that was simply in his blood. GEORGE ST. CLAIR found his voice in heartfelt narratives about life in the American West.

For over 20 years George has pursued a career as a professional archeologist and anthropologist, which involved living for extended periods of time in remote places in the American Southwest, Mexico, Peru, and Brazil. While in Mexico, his travels crossing and re-crossing the border further ignited his historical imagination and sharpened his awareness of life in the region. This path eventually brought George to London, where he got his PhD in Anthropology, followed by a few years of lecturing and research at the London School of Economics.

All the while his reading, writing, and further reflection kept fueling a vision that would emerge in his songwriting – a nuanced, poetic voice full of wit and rigor, ever-grounded in his connection to home. While music was never far out of the picture, over the last few years the time came to put all his energies toward it. Bringing all his experiences together, songwriting emerged as the way for George to find his true voice.

Rock Singer/Songwriter MICHAEL TRACY Releases Fourth Studio Album STILL GOT SOUL Following Years of Notable Performances

Charlotte, NC - MICHAEL TRACY combines straightforward American Rock and Roll with poignant lyrical themes, reminiscent of Rock Singer/Songwriter idols like Tom Petty, Bob Seger, John Mellencamp, and Bruce Springsteen. He has released four studio albums, and together with his band has shared the stage with Bon Jovi (garnering him a featured article in Billboard Magazine), Poison, George Thorogood, Styx, Foreigner, Don Felder, Jefferson Starship, Dokken, and Zach Myers (Shinedown). MICHAEL TRACY will release his new album STILL GOT SOUL in stores and online November 17, 2017. This latest effort is his most ambitious yet, representing an artist who has clearly found his voice and a "lane" to call his own.

His previous label experiences not being a perfect fit, MICHAEL TRACY was inspired to start his own independent label, TW Music Group, to support his new release, and set out to find the right producer that could capture the sound and style he had spent years cultivating, but had yet to realize on a record. In late 2015 Michael would find what he was looking for with Los Angeles producers Bob Marlette (Lynyrd Skynyrd, Alice Cooper) and Sahaj Ticotin (Ra). He traveled to LA and recorded three songs with them that would appear on his early-2016 release Love And Worries, a short collection of previously unreleased material. From those original sessions, a bond emerged between Michael and producer Sahaj Ticotin, and a shared belief that together they could create great records. They got together again in late 2016, co-writing an original Holiday tune that Michael had been working on called “Poinsettia Red.”

Immediately in 2017 they began plotting STILL GOT SOUL, Michael’s next full-length album. All songs on this stellar new release were written by MICHAEL TRACY and Sahaj Ticotin, and produced, recorded, and engineered by Sahaj in April and May 2017. Featuring mastering by Paul Logus of PLX Mastering and album artwork from Jason Taylor, Scott Hart, and Shannin Washburn, STILL GOT SOUL is an instant classic for every fan’s collection.

Though his time in the studio throughout 2017 kept his performances limited, Michael still booked some of his most notable shows to date. In February MICHAEL TRACY and his band opened for Bon Jovi in Greenville, SC, garnering him a featured article in Billboard Magazine. In the early spring, he played two arena shows opening for Poison, and in September was on the PNC Pavilion stage in Charlotte opening for the Jeff Foxworthy/Larry The Cable Guy Back Yard BBQ featuring Marshall Tucker Band & Foghat.

The new MICHAEL TRACY album STILL GOT SOUL will release in stores and online November 17, 2017 and he will continue to perform in support of the release throughout 2017 and 2018. For more information about MICHAEL TRACY, please visit his website and social media pages via www.michael-tracy.com.

MICHAEL TRACY began his journey as a singer/songwriter in early 2011, stepping on stage at a local open mic to nervously perform some songs he had just written. He had spent his early 20’s in the Navy, stationed on both coasts and traveling to countries throughout the Mediterranean. He married his wife while in the Navy and they have two children together. It was later that Michael joined together his love of words and music as a songwriter, having learned guitar as a child fascinated with books and writing. The open mic performance awakened something in him and he continued honing his chops, jumping on stages all over Charlotte and jamming with local musicians. He entered the studio in November 2011 to record his first album, Enough Small Talk.

Over the next two years, MICHAEL TRACY put a band together and impressed audiences with his high-energy and soulful performances. By 2013 he won his first of many regional awards with the reader’s choice award for Best Songwriter from Creative Loafing Best of Charlotte. He also won the Charlotte Music Awards 2013 and performed his first major opening gig as the supporting act for George Thorogood at The Fillmore. He booked more high profile gigs in 2014, including opening slots for Styx, Foreigner, Don Felder, Jefferson Starship, Dokken, and Zach Myers (Shinedown), and ended the year ended with his own headline show at The Fillmore promoted by Live Nation. While spending 2014 performing across the region, Michael also returned to the studio and produced his next album Gonna Smile, which was signed by the indie label Spectra Records and released in February 2015.

Superstar Drummer & Songwriter CINDY BLACKMAN SANTANA to Release New Summer Single "FUN, PARTY, SPLASH" Feat. CARLOS SANTANA & Produced by NARADA MICHAEL WALDEN

Marin County, CA – The past few months have been a blur for CINDY BLACKMAN SANTANA, who is currently touring and performing with her husband Carlos Santana, is featured as a vocalist, drummer, and songwriter on “Power of Peace,” the new Santana/Isley Brothers collaboration, and has been busy touring with her own band and recording tracks in the studio with the legendary producer NARADA MICHAEL WALDEN. Together through Walden's Tarpan Records label they will release the new single “FUN, PARTY, SPLASH” featuring Carlos Santana on all digital platforms on August 25, 2017.

CINDY BLACKMAN SANTANA is a virtuoso drummer whose artistry spans the realms of jazz and rock. As a bandleader and as a musician, Cindy is a sound innovator with a passion for pushing creative boundaries and exploring movement and change. She is as known for the nuances and colors she brings to her beats and fills as she is for the sheer power of her soulful playing. “Some drummers act, some react. Some keep time, others create it. CINDY BLACKMAN SANTANA is among the few who can,” writes Mike Zwerin of the International Herald Tribune.

Among a handful of the most innovative, original and influential artists of our time, NARADA MICHAEL WALDEN'S stature as an authentic musical renaissance man is a matter of record. Producing hits for Artists as diverse as Aretha Franklin (including the platinum “Freeway of Love”), Steve WinwoodRay CharlesStingElton JohnWhitney HoustonGeorge MichaelMariah CareyBarbara StreisandLionel RitchieLisa FischerStevie WonderTom JonesGladys Knight, and The Temptations, the EMMY and multi-GRAMMY winner (Producer, Album and Song of The Year) has been at the helm of hit music that spans decades.

CINDY BLACKMAN SANTANA has been creating magnificent musical time and space since the beginning of her career as a busking street performer in New York City in the '80s through the present day, touring the globe and making albums at the top of her game—including the critically acclaimed Another Lifetime (2010). In addition to collaborating onstage and in-studio with her own group—also known as Another Lifetime—she has toured and recorded with artists including Pharoah Sanders, Cassandra Wilson, Bill Laswell, Joss Stone, Joe Henderson, Al B. Sure, Buckethead, Don Pullen, Hugh Masakela, Buster Williams, and Angela Bofill. Cindy was part of the Tony Williams Lifetime Tribute Band called Spectrum Road with Jack Bruce, Vernon Reid, and John Medeski. From 1992 to 2007 and again in 2014 & 2015 she was the drummer in Lenny Kravitz's band, performing through multiple world tours and hit albums. In 2010, she was part of the all-star line-up performing “Bitches Brew,” a tribute to Miles Davis' seminal album staged at the San Francisco Jazz Festival and NYC Winter JazzFest.

More recently, Cindy has become the regular touring drummer for Santana. Having met several years earlier at a festival in Europe while she was touring with Kravitz, Cindy first played with Santana in spring 2010, when drummer Dennis Chambers had a previous commitment. “They have a great band vibe. It's nice to play with people who have grown together, built a sound together, and stayed together,” she says. “When that happens, you can create so many different levels of communication. That's what they've done, and I love reacting with it and being a part of it.”

Electricity onstage generated chemistry offstage—Carlos proposed to Cindy during a July 2010 concert, and they married in December. Looking ahead, they will collaborate artistically as well, on projects that will no doubt reflect their shared passion for improvisation, and belief in the transcendent nature of music. Cindy was an integral part of the new Santana/Isley Brothers release Power of Peace, featuring the song “I Remember,” which she wrote and sings. “To me,” she says, “music is completely spiritual, it's the way you connect with your higher self, with the universe. It's also a way to share light with millions of people. They don’t need to speak your language, have your beliefs, or be in the same place you are. The music speaks, it channels good energy, and makes a difference in people's lives. Carlos and I are both conscious of doing that.”

NARADA MICHAEL WALDEN started his storied career as a drummer with John McLaughlin and the Mahavishnu Orchestra. Narada's music flows freely from pop, rock and soul, to the rarified realms of jazz, fusion, and world music. With Jeff Beck, Narada wrote and played drums on the seminal album Wired that earned them both their first Gold Album. Walden was an integral part of introducing Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey to millions of fans worldwide, producing and writing their breakthrough hits. Billboard Magazine honored him as one of the Top Ten Producers of all time.

In 2016, Cindy connected with her fellow drummer and world-class producer NARADA MICHAEL WALDEN, and together the two have been working on new material ever since. CINDY BLACKMAN SANTANA continues to build a body of work and artistic legacy that make her one of the finest drummers and recording artists of this or any generation.

The Romantics Guitarist/Vocalist/Songwriter Michael Skill To Release New Solo Single "67 Riot"

New song evokes time when Detroit burned during “Summer of Love”

Detroit - From the man who crafted such hit singles as “What I Like About You,” “Talking in Your Sleep,” and “One In A Million,” comes a new gritty blues-rock single about the riots that forever changed his hometown of Detroit in 1967. Michael Skill, who has played both bass and guitar for the power-pop rock 'n' roll band The Romantics, was a budding teenager in 1967 when five days of racially charged riots tore apart Detroit in July. When it was over, 43 people lay dead, 1,189 had been injured, more than 7,200 had been arrested and more than 2,000 buildings had been destroyed.

Skill lived on Detroit's East Side and says that although the violence took place several miles from his home, he nonetheless saw its effects up close. “I remember the National Guard right down the street from my house,” he says. “People watching the riots on TV were afraid that rioters would come into our neighborhood. People were freaked out.” The riots changed his beloved Motor City forever. “A lot of my friends' families took off for the suburbs after that,” he says, noting his family chose to stay in the city.

The riot's effects – and the fact that many of the issues they raised, from police brutality to economic decay – stayed with Skill, culminating in his desire to write “67 Riot.” Loud, powerful and evocative of tough tunes by such rockers as Link Wray, Jimi Hendrix and Skill's fellow Detroit rockers, The MC 5, “67 Riot” is both a haunting look at the past as well as a timely allusion to the present, in a world where racial and social tension still threaten to rend our nation in two.

“I wrote the song from a sense of frustration that people never came together after the riots to really address what happened, to look each other in the eye and say, 'How can we repair this? How can we move forward?'” The song's lyrics are written from this point of view. “4 AM/Down the street/Cops roll in/With all the heat/Blind pig roaring/Kickin' their heels/Soldiers home/Just gettin' real,” the song opens. “Rooftop sniper/Set the sight/Burning cocktails/Flash in flight/Broken city/Broken dreams/Things aren't always what they seem/67 Riot!”

Recorded in Skill's own studio, the song features him on guitar, bass and vocals, and also features drummer Russell Ayers, who engineered the tune. The co-producers sought to create an aural equivalent of what it was like to live through this violent time, Skill says, but he adds that he wanted the song to end on a note of hope because Detroit has rebounded in recent years.

“Try to warm your heart/Dream your dreams/Break the chain/Let's start clean,” he adds in his song, noting it’s time to break the chain of racism that has shackled generations before, during and after “67 Riot.”

Watch the “'67 Riot” video:

“'67 Riot” first single solo release from upcoming Debut LP.

The Romantics are still touring, still recording and currently feature 3 original band members on the front line up, Rich Cole, Wally Palmar and co-founder Michael Skill. Drummer Brad Elvis joined The Romantics in 2004 and has been the longest seated drummer with the band. Rich Cole rejoined the band in 2010, reviving the band's 3-part harmony allowing The Romantics to perform songs from their first two albums live for the first time since his departure.

Female Guitar Shredder Tara Lynch To Release New Single “Trustless” Feat. Members of Dream Theater, Yngwie Malmsteen, Whitesnake and Alice Cooper!

Los Angeles - Tara Lynch is an American guitarist, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. Tara will be releasing her new single “Trustless” from her forthcoming debut album “Evil Enough” on Friday, February 10, 2017. “Evil Enough” is a melodic metal album full of rich guitar dominant tracks, all written by Tara Lynch.  Along with Tara on all lead/rhythm guitars, this album features an all-star lineup of high-profile guest musicians including Tony MacAlpine and Derek Sherinian (Dream Theater, KISS, Alice Cooper, Yngwie Malmsteen, Billy Idol) on keyboards, Björn Englen (Yngwie Malmsteen, Tony MacAlpine, Quiet Riot, Soul Sign, Dio Disciples) and Phil Soussan (Ozzy Osbourne, Billy Idol, Last In Line) on bass, Brian Tichy (Whitesnake, Billy Idol, Foreigner, Ozzy Osbourne) and Glen Sobel (Alice Cooper) on drums and the virtuoso vocals of Mark Boals (Yngwie Malmsteen, Uli Jon Roth, Dokken, Dio Disciples, Raiding the Rock Vault).

Says Tara, “Both the concept and meaning behind 'Trustless' are autobiographical. I've been through life's toughest moments and have come out on the other side much stronger for it. I've decided to tell my story both for therapeutic reasons and also in hopes that it can relate to and offer support to others in the same situation.

“The entire 'Evil Enough' album is a musical autobiography. Very often, the term 'blood, sweat and tears' is used as a metaphor to describe the work one puts in to something that they are 110% invested in. This would be an accurate metaphor where I am concerned. It has been a tremendously emotional journey into my own soul in order to both write the lyrics that explain my experiences, as well as write the melodies to convey the feelings involved within each experience.”

“Tara Lynch has a beautiful natural vibrato that I have only heard in the very top guitar players” - Derek Sherinian

Primarily self-taught, Tara played both electric and acoustic guitar and wrote songs in her childhood, picking up the bass guitar, drums and piano along the way. Very serious about her musicianship and the unending desire to improve, Tara has personally studied guitar with Steve Vai (Frank Zappa, David Lee Roth, Whitesnake, Alcatrazz), drums with Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), bass with Björn Englen (Yngwie Malmsteen, Tony MacAlpine, Quiet Riot, Soul Sign, Dio Disciples) and piano with Derek Sherinian (Dream Theater, KISS, Alice Cooper, Yngwie Malmsteen, Billy Idol).

In 2015, Tara accepted the invitation from Geert Fiew (founder of Belgian band Beyond the Labyrinth) to write and perform guitar solos on Beyond the Labyrinth's upcoming fourth album, “The Art of Resilience”, to be released in early 2017.  At the same time, Tara began writing for her own upcoming debut album, “Evil Enough”.

“Tara is just a pure pleasure and honor to work with. She knows what she wants but yet so humble and grateful. And what a talent! And did I mention sweetheart?” – Björn Englen

Featured performers on Tara Lynch’s “EVIL ENOUGH”:
Mark Boals (vocals)
Björn Englen (bass)
Tony MacAlpine (keyboards)
Derek Sherinian (keyboards)
Glen Sobel (drums)
Phil Soussan (bass)
Brian Tichy (drums)

On “Evil Enough”, all songs are written by Tara Lynch, who performs all lead and rhythm guitars, and on some tracks, bass guitar.

“After knowing her as a friend for many years, I knew it would be fun, but working with Tara is like holding a Tiger by the tail, she is so full of talent and energy, knows exactly what she wants and is not afraid to go for it! It was a really great experience!” - Mark Boals

In closing Tara has this to impart, “This album has been a labor of love and an important part of both my personal and musical growth process. At the end of the day, it's an album that I am extremely proud of and I really hope it touches people out there in the world who can relate to it and that it can help them know they're not alone.”

Along with the release of “Evil Enough” in 2017, Tara Lynch plans to tour. “Let's rock!” - Tara Lynch

Renowned LA Songwriter Bob Beland Releases Highly Anticipated New Album “Left Of Center”

Mar Vista, CA - Much to the anticipation of music aficionados worldwide, renowned LA songwriter Bob Beland is releasing his new album “Left Of Center” on his own independent label Wrong Way Works! Beland is an American born musician/songwriter from Los Angeles, CA, where he has performed, written and recorded original music from 1973 to the present. His diverse career spans over four decades

ABOUT THE ALBUM:

“Left Of Center,” my new fourth solo album and the third under my own label, came as a surprise to me in 2016 as I had two complete albums of new songs already in the archives that I hadn’t released yet.

Early in the year I had just completed a long project partnering with my ex-Furys band mate, the Legendary Fontenelle DuClaw to co-write, co-perform, co-arrange and produce his first (and still unreleased) solo mini album at my home studio Wrong Way Works. Danny Simon, who mastered Fontenelle's EP, also helped me retrieve 45 song demos by my buddy Jules Shear from 1973 with 3 reels of tape that I had kept with me for over 40 years. When I went to look for those tapes again I found a few reels of my own stuff. One of those reels had the original 1983 recordings of two songs found on this new album. I ended up using one of them, “It’s Alright With Me Mr. Bob” and the other one, “Off The Handle,” I re-recorded.

“Off The Handle” was a song of mine that Fontenelle and I used to perform in the Furys back in the 80’s but I never recorded a proper version of my own until now. I'm certain that today's political climate and one unsavory character in particular inspired me to revisit it again and record it.

“It's Alright With Me Mr. Bob” was recorded with my dear friend the late David Beebe who played drums on many recordings of mine including “Stealing Cars” and “The Bob Beland E.P.” David was the drummer par excellence for Jules & the Polar Bears and Slow Children. It was always a joy to record with David and on “It's Alright With Me Mr. Bob” we had a particularly fun time recording it in a garage in Santa Monica, CA along with the help two other good friends of mine, Marty Korth on bass, and R&B singer/songwriter Dale Mitchell on vocals. All the guys were completely into accommodating my oddball idea about freedom of expression and the fun of creating that idea still seemed to exist in that recording even after 33 years and some wear and tear. Once I heard it again after Danny Simon retrieved it this year from the old tape I really felt the urge to release it flaws and all. It's a source of personal satisfaction that I wrote and recorded “It's Alright With Me Mr. Bob” 3 years before Paul Simon's African influenced album “Graceland” came out. My only regret is that David isn’t here to enjoy it again but I can close my eyes and still see him smiling, laughing and having a great time while we were putting the song together. It was always that way with David but through all the crazy fun he still delivered a great performance every single time we worked together. I still miss him and I hope he is resting in eternal peace.

“One Bright Burning” is a song I wrote way back in the 80's but never recorded until now. I came across the lyrics in my notebook and actually remembered the melody! I can't remember my username and password but I can remember a song I wrote from the 1980's. Go figure!

And of the new songs:

“Some Friends Of Mine” was originally called “Funky Folks” written on a lark for a friend who was working on a solo album with the working title of “Funky Folks.” I thought, “How the hell do you write a song called “Funky Folks?” So I did for the fun of it and sent a demo of it to my buddy who, much to my surprise, wasn’t that impressed by it (this is in spite of the fact that I reference his nick name AND his wife in the frickin' song! LOL!). Well, in spite of the rejection, I kind of liked it myself so I decided to retool and record the song with a new title so as not to encroach upon his own record. One man’s loss is another man’s gain and “Some Friends of Mine” seemed to work out for me that way and I'm happy about it for no other good reason than to have my old friend Bobby Pickett playing monster bass on the song. Bobby was Etta James bassist for many years and was an original member of Detective, the first band signed to Led Zeppelin's Swan Song label.

“Sloppy Joe” and “Who’ll Save The World?” feature The Legendary Fontenelle DuClaw on bass, pipe organ, digital saxes, drum loops and ½ piano.

“Cold” features a dear old friend of mine, singer/songwriter Dan Navarro formerly of the duo Lowen & Navarro. Dan and I go all the way back to the Troubadour and the early 70's. You'd be hard pressed to find a nicer guy than the Calexico Cowboy. Dan and his partner Eric wrote and recorded many albums together throughout their prestigious 20 year career and hit it big with Pat Benatar's recording of their song, “We Belong.” Look for Dan to be releasing his first solo album very soon.

“The Lost Highway,” “It'll Take Overtime” and “Ain't Goin' Back To That” are all new songs as well. I hope you enjoy the music and performances on “Left Of Center” and thanks again for listening!

Legendary Songwriter Hugh Prestwood To Release First Full Album "I Used To Be The Real Me"

The hit songwriter is releasing “I Used To Be The Real Me”, featuring Judy Collins

Los Angeles - It may seem Hugh Prestwood is just introducing his name to the world; after all, “I Used To Be The Real Me” is essentially the first album he’s widely distributed, set to be released November 18 on Wildflower Records/Cleopatra Records. But fans of country, folk and bluegrass music are all very familiar with his work - he’s penned numerous number ones and other hits in his thirty-plus years as an Emmy Award-winning, Hall of Fame songwriter.

Discovered in 1978 by Judy Collins, the ethereal folk singer provided Prestwood with first hit when she recorded “Hard Times for Lovers.” It makes sense that she also had a hand in this stage of his career, releasing his new album on her Wildflower Records. She also joined him on two tracks, “Untie These Lines” and “Charlie.”

“I received Hugh’s CD, listened to it and practically fell over,” Collins said. “It blew me away. All of Hugh's songs are unusual and tinged with magic, and it was a pleasure singing them with my old friend.”

In the three decades since first working with Collins, Prestwood has become a well-respected and sought-after songwriter, penning Grammy-nominated number ones for Randy Travis with “Hard Rock Bottom Of Your Heart” Crystal Gayle’s “The Sound Of Your Goodbye” and Shenandoah’s “Ghost In This House,” among many other hits. But “I Used To Bee The Real Me” is Prestwood singing his own songs, his own way.

“Working with Judy on this record is closing a very big circle,” Prestwood said. “I Used To Be The Real Me is my songs recorded from my demos, whittled down from 30 songs I had in my catalog. I’m so pleased to share it.”

Conway Twitty, Don Williams, Jimmy Buffett, James Taylor, Alison Krauss and Union Station and Jerry Douglas have all recorded Prestwood’s songs, among many, many more. He even received an Emmy for Trisha Yearwood’s “The Song Remembers When.” With that many hits and a long history of working with some of music’s greatest names, it’s hard to believe “I Used To Be The Real Me” is Prestwood’s first full, widely-distributed album of his own work – of his voice singing his songs for a change. The album is a masterwork in lyricism, with Prestwood’s familiar take on life and love as they change through the years.

Although Prestwood is releasing “I Used To Be The Real Me”, he’s nowhere near done with songwriting. Prestwood continues to teach songwriting workshops for the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI) in various locations throughout the country, and is constantly working on his next song.

Music In Motion with Cat Beach

Written by Sherryl Craig
For Women of Music Music of Women

“As a child we are taught from an early age to listen to our parents. As we grow we get tangled up in life's challenges and we sometimes put our dreams on hold. But...if you feel passionate about your gift, whatever it may be, don't give up. Give it 100% and don't stop. Even though you'll face tough times believe in yourself.” ~Cat Beach, 2016~

Passionate about her music and about living a healthy, full life Cat Beach knows all too well the challenges women face on a daily basis. There are lot's of pressures placed on us to do well, live healthy, work hard.

Cat's ambitions have always pushed her to give her best. Acting was her original career passion but as life took her through different phases her ambitions changed. Currently shes working on her music, her new EP, a healthy routine of diet and exercise, and on motivating and coaching others to help them lead healthy productive lives.

Her first album “Love Me Out Loud” was recorded in 2009 and her most recent “Celebration Under the Sun” is an amazing collection of songs from the heart. It could be described as an expression of strength and warmth, depicting a personal journey of surrender, from life's struggles and challenges. Yet all the while it encourages hope and a passion for life.

Musical influences in Cat's life include legends Joni Mitchell, Carol King, and her all time favorite James Taylor. She said James Taylor was the biggest influence and that she listened to his music all the time. She has also written and worked with some of the industries finest singer/songwriters. Mitzi Knight, Sally Garcia, Dan Hagen, Tom Schafer and Chris Crane. But the most influential and dynamic of those is Ned Albright. Cat will tell you he is the single most important writing partner and co-writer that she's worked with who has, in her own words, “profoundly changed her life”, and has taught her to embrace who she is within and create her own style. She said her career would not be what it is today without him.

Artists who have shared their passion for music on Cat's albums and on stage are Lee Sklar, Dean Parks, Herman Matthews, Ned Albright, Kim Yarbrough, Kevin Ricard and Gia Ciambotti. Currently  Jason Cohen, Andre Madatian, Kris Luis, Justin Lacey, Lo Carter and April Rucker make up Cat Beach and The Surfers.

Cat was heavily influenced by her grandmother with regards to her music. “These Hands” is a song about her grandmother and how the advice she gave helped to pull Cat back together after a rough patch in her life. Cat's velvety voice soothes you and brings you in to the story as if you were there when it happened. It's a story about courage, faith and family.

“My Grandmother said, “our world is all about fighting to survive, remember that.” She spoke of how hard work feed the family and that “if these hands can feed me I can move on in life”...I always remembered that.” ~Cat Beach~

As we talked I asked Cat where the inspiration for her songs comes from. She said the lyrics from the most special part of her heart and soul. That every thing she writes about comes from her own life and that everything you hear in her songs is what she's lived.

“The good, the bad and the truly disorienting. I've lived them all and I'm hoping in sharing my lyrics of life someone out there might be going through the same thing and for a brief moment listening and realize that their not alone in this crazy world. I feel that as musicians and performers we have an obligation to help the people of this world FEEL SOMETHING....”~ Cat Beach~

Health and fitness have always been a big part of Cat's life along with her music and she's found an amazing way to combine both for the greater good. She said that fitness and weight lifting helped her create a strong body, mind and spirit so that she could keep up with the pace of her every day life and life as a professional musician. After years of meeting and talking with other professional musicians and performers about their own survival stories and struggles she felt that there was a special message that needed to be shared with the world. She said that most people are focused on just weight loss and not healing the entire body, so after years of working with mentors and coaches who taught her how to change her mind set from using the word loss and applying the word gain she was able to create a positive outlook that would benefit everyone.

If we viewed our bodies as beautiful gifts that we need to love, embrace and nurture we could have a more positive outlook on our every day life and our careers. It was through this new found outlook on life that “Music In Motion” was created.

“I thought to myself what if we looked from a different angle and took a brief moment to view our bodies as amazing gifts that we desperately needed to take care of, love and nurture. What if we stopped dieting it down and starving it ...what if we stopped over feeding it because our emotions said we need to cover it with instant 'taste' gratification? What if, as a culture, together we became a STRONGER team?” ~Cat Beach~

This is where “Music In Motion” was born. From the desire to spread the message of loving our bodies and not breaking them down and all the while using something that truly inspires others...music. Together with other performers who faced tremendous adversity in their careers and daily lives, Cat is showing us how to overcome affliction and hardship by proving that if nourished our bodies at their strongest may be unstoppable.

The goal is to take “Music In Motion”, which tentatively kicks off  in early 2017, nationwide across America and share the message that this is not just a seminar it's also a celebration of life. Along with the knowledge shared on individual disciplines of fitness and physical transformation by medical professionals and entertainers who each have first hand knowledge of life changing events related to their health, there will be a concert celebration by those entertainers and artists who have shared their own personal stories.

Aside from the “Music In Motion” over the course of the next four months, Cat will also be working on a video for two of her songs, “Soul Shine Pizza and “Does This Groove Make My Butt Look Big. Both are top selling new singles and are fun, happy songs.

Cat Beach is an amazing woman. Her voice is unique with a distinctive texture of warmth, richness, and sultry conviction. The lyrics are heart-warming, inspiring, and at times humbling. She's living her passion, a passion to share her story, her music and her drive for life.

“Stay on the good side of life. Be good to your body, mind, and spirit.” ~Cat Beach~

San Francisco Political Singer/Songwriter Pete Kronowitt Releases New Full-Length Album

A Lone Voice Delivers Timely and Salient Political Message

San Francisco, CA – The hunger Americans feel for change is palpable, and no artist voices this urgency better than San Francisco-based Pete Kronowitt, a seasoned singer/songwriter who is releasing his fourth full-length album, A Lone Voice. Pete’s emotive songs fuse acoustic pop and indie-folk, while evoking an era when music was made to battle injustice. A Lone Voice, releasing worldwide on July 15th, 2016, masterfully explores themes ranging from socio-political struggles to musings on the human condition. His sound is a Steve Earle-Elvis Costello hybrid, a heap of Alt-Americana influences.

The album was recorded and produced in Nashville, Tennessee by Grammy-winning songwriter Phil Madeira, with backing musicians David Mansfield on guitars, mandolin and violin, Dennis Holt on drums and percussion, Chris Donohue on bass, and of course, Phil Madeira on guitars and keys. A Lone Voice features a set of lyrical new songs spanning folk, pop, country, and acoustic-punk influences from the Ramones to Pete Seeger and John Mellencamp.

A Lone Voice stays upbeat, despite presenting some uncomfortable truths and lifting the curtain to reveal political and media manipulation. Audiences will join the chorus of the title track “Change Is Gonna Come” (inspired from Sam Cooke's iconic song) and tap to the beat of the album’s protest anthem “Got Guns?” Through his music, Kronowitt pokes fun at the absurdity of extremism and reminds us, the power of change is always here and now – within ourselves.

There are also intimate, personal moments in this collection, drawing connections between the national zeitgeist and the all-too-human emotional toll it takes on those we love. The smooth and Clapton-esque “You Are Here” reminds listeners (and Pete himself) to be present. “Holding Your Hand” is a gift for his wife after 20 years together, and the tender, album-closing “Perfect Day” is a moving tribute to his sister, who took her own life. “Tears on the Back of Her Head,” co-written with producer Phil Madeira, was written for two friends lost to cancer and their spouses, and may be the most stirring track on A Lone Voice.

Pete Kronowitt has toured internationally in China, Japan, and Vietnam, and across the U.S. in the last few years with long-time friend, collaborator, and 30-year veteran bassist John David Coppola. John, who has toured with The Danny Morris Band, was integral on Pete’s debut album Phases of the Heart. That album was recorded in 1993 at Rutabaga Studios with John Alagia, whose production credits include the Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer, and Ben Folds Five. Kronowitt’s second and third albums, Threads and elements, were produced by Pete Snell, who toured extensively with Lyle Lovett.

With an unwavering belief that together, we can raise our voices to demand common sense solutions, Pete reminds us, “The people of these great United States are bound by the many things we have in common, and we must reject any manufactured issues which are cynically created simply to divide us.” With his revolutionary new album, A Lone Voice, Pete Kronowitt has called for a rediscovery of the protest song…and not a moment too soon.

Pete Kronowitt will be performing a CD Release party and delivering his strong political messages to the Agora Theater and Ballroom in Cleveland, OH ahead of the Republican National Convention this July 18-21, 2016.

There will also be various gigs throughout 2016 in the San Francisco Bay Area and across the West Coast.

Singer, Songwriter & Jazz Musician Elizabeth Geyer To Release Long Awaited New Album THE BRIDGE

Chicago, IL - “Elizabeth Geyer is a force of nature. An amazing singer and songwriter, original vocalist, wonderful trumpet player and multi instrumentalist. She writes songs directly from the heart!” - BRUCE LUNDVALL Bluenote / EMI

An endorsement like that from the man who signed Nora Jones, Willie Nelson and Wynton Marsalis is something to make one sit up and take notice. The late great Lundvall even featured Elizabeth's music on his Sirius Radio XM Bluenote hour in 2013. Unusual for an unsigned artist!

But it's a long journey from her days as a freelance trumpet player to her fourth and long awaited new album THE BRIDGE. Elizabeth remembers a life changing moment, walking home from a jazz big band rehearsal one sunny morning years ago. “I suddenly realized I couldn't do it anymore, as grateful as I was, I had to find my own voice.” Find her voice she did: Three albums later having swapped trumpet for flugelhorn, piano and songwriting, Elizabeth had a small but growing audience and some fans in high places.

David Hoffman, long term arranger and trumpet player for Ray Charles says, “Elizabeth Geyer's music is heartfelt, soulful and beautiful. She's equally proficient on piano and flugelhorn, both of which she utilizes to enhance her deep clear voice. As a singer/songwriter she's equal to the best. Her music is as honest as it gets!”

Which brings us to THE BRIDGE, a brand new collection of 13 songs and Elizabeth's bravest most personal album to date. She explains how the album came about – and another life changing moment. “I had waited seven years for the right opportunity to record again. It had to feel right. A CD had arrived in the post, IN THE LAND WHERE I COME FROM by Paul Adams. Late one night a few seconds into my first listen, I just knew. Everything about it was weird, wonderful, humble, charming and timeless. All I had to do was contact and convince Paul.” Paul was convinced – Elizabeth flew from Australia to Illinois and the rest is history.

But back to Lundvall, as Bruce was a part of the magic of THE BRIDGE. Paul explains “I had seen Bruce on ABC's 20/20 program expressing regret in not signing the late Eva Cassidy. Somehow I found an email address for him and wrote about Elizabeth's music and how Eva inspired her. To my amazement Bruce got that email and phoned the next day wanting one of her albums. A week later he phoned again wanting every album she ever made. He was a champion – determined to get her signed, phoning often sometimes just to say he was still listening. We planned to meet but had to postpone due to recording commitments before Elizabeth's flight back to Australia. Unfortunately Bruce was battling Parkinson's disease. Sadly the album was not quite finished when his health deteriorated rapidly. We could only send him cards as he moved into assisted care.

Each of the 13 songs (Twelve by Elizabeth and one guitar piece by Paul Adams) on THE BRIDGE are as personal, comforting and embracing as a true friend. Paul states, “THE BRIDGE is like a classic novel. One is pulled to the depth of the human condition, and each listen delivers a new and wondrous take on the world within. It's a magical story that continues to reveal itself listen after listen.”

And last but not least is Elizabeth collaborator here, the award winning instrumentalist Adams. Never one to shy away from using exotic instruments he builds – sitar, slide guitar and Native Flute to name a few – in non-traditional ways (Check out his acclaimed new album IMAGININGS which also features Elizabeth on piano, Indias Pravin Godkhindi on Bansuri and David Hoffman on Flugelhorn). Paul draws upon his vast array of talents perfectly to compliment, frame yet never overwhelm Elizabeth's songs.

The result is a special collection delivered with the utmost level of love, beauty and care. And it's been well worth the wait!
