From the Heinous to the Sublime, Paul Adams and Elizabeth Geyer Release the Album “A Journey of Dreams”

Chicago - Living thousands of miles apart, United States based, award-winning multi-instrumentalist, Paul Adams, and Australia based, award-winning pianist, flugelhorn instrumentalist and vocalist, Elizabeth Geyer, have been creating music together from opposite ends of the globe since their debut collaboration, “Imaginings.” Across the oceans and continents, something definitely worked synergistically and continues to work. Their album won the award, “Contemporary Instrumental Album of the Year” at the Zone Music Reporter Awards in 2015. Following, “Imaginings,” came “Deeper Imaginings” and “Sanctuary,” the New Age Music Guide's “Album of the Year” of 2022.

Continuing to unfold the timeless, spiritual sanctuary that has become a trademark of their music, came the (December 2023) single from this new album, “A Journey of Dreams.” The full album release of “A Journey of Dreams” met with delays after the success of the single but is finally released on 11/15/24. It involves Adams’ creative musical talent and his collection of exotic world instruments as well as the electric sitar he made in the days when he was a luthier. Their successful journeys have amassed over 138 million streams on Pandora as well as regular programming on SiriusXM Radio.

Blended with Elizabeth Geyer’s sensitive piano, flugelhorn and instrumental vocalizations, “A Journey of Dreams,” continues the beautiful and exotic flow of their previous releases. Adams said, “We wanted to focus on beauty, especially as the world seems to be in such deep chaos.” When referring to Geyer’s solo album projects, Bruce Lundvall of Blue Note Records called Elizabeth “A brilliant musician and songwriter.” For “A Journey Of Dreams,” Elizabeth says her intention was to create a place of safety and home. “Imagine a place where you once came from, where you will go back to, and a place you sometimes visit in dreams.”

With its exotic artistic nature and chill ethnic impressions, Adams describes the album as offering a bit of artistic and spiritual pragmatism. “It's all right here on ‘circus Earth’ – from the heinous to the sublime. We felt a need to create something that might focus on the deep beauty we are all capable of. We feel as if God, nature, or whatever you wish to call it, is challenging us. ‘She’s’ wondering if we have the interpersonal maturity and cultural skills to work together in this rapidly changing, growing, yet shrinking world.”

For years, only a rough mix survived, with the master tapes thought to be lost. However, the recent rediscovery of the original multi-tracks has allowed for a meticulous mixing and mastering process, breathing new life into this long-hidden masterpiece. The release promises to provide fans with an authentic glimpse into the creative spirit of Badfinger during one of their most artistically rich periods.

Prog Duo The Vegetarians To Release New Album “Space Age Pagliacci”

The Vegetarians are a Swedish-American duo consisting of Hans Annellsson, composer & musician from Sweden, and composer & songwriter John Tabacco from Long Island, NY. Their eagerly anticipated new album, “Space Age Pagliacci”, is a semi-concept album about spacetime. Stylistically, the music is a mix of Prog Rock & Classic Rock, with some hints of Circus Music.

Says Hans, “There is a concept in the lyrics. They are all related to space and time in some way.” John elaborates, “A.I. is becoming a force to reckon with. This CD explores the existential threat A.I. proposes to humans. We also explore the hidden force behind "fear", that being of an extraterrestrial influence. Truth is also an issue here. How can we trust anything? There is also some self-deprecating awareness of the absurdity of being alive in this dimension. The cover of the CD has a picture of the first A.I. robot (“Sophia” - an actual citizen now of Saudi Arabia) sitting - as a person (of unspecified gender in a protective space suit) serenades her. Not the warmest of relations. And that might be part of the A.I. / Human problem.”

Working together with several different singers such as John Tabacco, Robin Schell, John Crowe, Marc Mollan, John Marshall Gibbs and Napoleon Murphy Brock, the project started around 2000 as a vehicle for recording some prog covers of YES, Frank Zappa, King Crimson, Genesis, ELP, Adrian Belew, Peter Hammill etc. The prog covers can be found on the albums “Remustered & Remixed Salad” and “The Calling”.

Billy Sherwood said this about the song “The Calling”: “A good rocking version, well done boys.”

Adrian Belew had this to say about The Vegetarians version of his song “Dream Life,”: “Beautiful, I was really moved to hear your version, maybe I'm not forgotten after all.”

In support of the new album The Vegetarians hope to play The Zappanale Festival in Bad Doberman, Germany, again.

In closing the duo has this message to relay, “The message is learn to know thyself ‘Temet Nosce.’ And whatever you do – don’t let anyone get the best of you. You matter just as much as the next being.”

Hans Annellsson: Composer & musician from Sweden. On the Annellssongs label Hans has released both music in Swedish, with The Vegetarians in English, and some instrumental music. The instrumental music is available on the albums “A Pirate In Ambient Waters” & “Scenes & Takes”. A new instrumental album “Goodly Odd” will be released later this year. To support himself Hans works as a music teacher at Malmö International School. Being a massive Frank Zappa fan Hans got permission from Frank, before he went on his last tour, to release a Swedish version of “Penis Dimension.” That version can be found on an album called “Från A Till Ö” by Hans and Mats Öberg. Hans also recently produced Mats Öberg’s album “Frankful,” solo piano renditions of the music of Frank Zappa.

John Tabacco: American composer, singer songwriter, engineer, multi-instrumentalist, and graphic artist. He is co-founder of SA3 (a proprietary analog to digital conversion technology for sound and video) and has engineered /mixed and mastered music for the past 30 years.

3Below “Live in Mérida” Featuring Michael Manring (Jaco Pastorius), Trey Gunn (King Crimson), Alonso Arreola Releases November 8, 2024

3Below features three extended range instruments played by Michael Manring (Jaco Pastorius alumni, creator of the Hyperbass), Trey Gunn (Warr Guitarist with King Crimson), Alonso Arreola (Mexican bassist, writer and poet).

Their latest release, “Live in Mérida”, was recorded on November 5, 2023 at the Palacio del La Música de Mérida in the Yucatan in Mexico. During this performance, they were joined by special guest Emmanuel Pina on the oud.

3Below began in a small but significant way when Arreola and Gunn, along with Gunn’s daughter Harper, traveled across Mali and The Dogon in West Africa in 2012. They took their baritone ukuleles with them hoping to touch base with local musicians. Mali is known for its deep musical traditions and by the third day they had found their way in: go into each small village and ask for lessons from the local master drummer or ngoni player (African string instrument). This led to a string of lessons and playing sessions with a variety of musicians from Bamako, Séguo, Mopti, Djenne and throughout the Dogon where they ended up participating in a late-night festival and jam session with the king and queen of Begnemato.

These experiences and the musical languages they learned in Mali set the groundwork for 3Below. This exploded further with bringing in bass legend Michael Manring. Manring is most known for his jaw-dropping solo performances, but he is also a brilliant ensemble player.

3Below first began with live shows in Mexico about one year after their return from Mali. Combining roots from Latin America, Asia, Africa and Europe, the first part of a 3Below live show is acoustic-based with Arreola and Gunn on ukulele and acoustic bass. The second half of the show is full-on electric, with the addition of solo pieces by Gunn and Manring.

Time Out Magazine calls them “Musicians with enormous talent and giant careers.”

Alonso Arreola - Percussive Electroacoustic & Electric Basses
Joined as time went by on a Saturday afternoon. It was Day of the Dead in Mexico City, November the 2nd. The year: 1974. There were clouds in the sky. When he could believe in something, he chose the movement that animates music and words. With seven albums to his name and as many in collaboration or as a producer, he has created and staged numerous stage projects in more than fifteen countries. He has also written thousands of articles, interviews, reviews, chronicles, poems or stories in magazines and newspapers about music, cinema or gastronomy from four continents, as well as a book about letters from his paternal grandfather (Juan José Arreola). He has done stage shows with authors such as Michel Houellebecq and Agustín Fernández Mallo. He is the author of “Relamparia,” a collection of poems, voices and entertainment published by Attica. For twenty years he has had a bass laboratory with dozens of disciples (LabA), and for twenty-five years he has had a musical column in the cultural supplement of the newspaper La Jornada. He launched the Curandera guitar alongside the Spanish artist Alejandro Sanz and the luthier Antonio Álvarez Bernal. He aspires to be a son of art and become a lightning rod. His favorite animal is the water buffalo.

Trey Gunn - Warr Guitar, Baritone Ukulele
A native Texan who resides in New Mexico, Gunn is known for the unusual 10-string touch guitar that he plays. From the blistering live recordings at the Royal Albert Hall in London with David Sylvian and Robert Fripp (“Damage”, Virgin Records) to ten years recording and touring with King Crimson – a group many contend as the most aggressively, adventurous rock band of all time – Gunn is associated with a constant stream of cutting edges projects.

In addition to the powerful performances and recordings of his groups Tu-Ner, TU, KTU, 3Below, The Security Projectand the multi-mediators Quodia, Gunn has toured and/or recorded with John Paul Jones, Brian Eno, Maynard J. Keenan’s “Puscifer”, Vernon Reid, Azam Ali, David Hykes of the Harmonic Choir and Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree.

When not on the road, Gunn continues his work scoring for tv/film, runs his own media label (7d Media) and coaches musicians in the creative process.

Michael Manring - Fretless Basses, Caxixi Shaker
Hailed by many as the world’s leading solo bassist, Michael Manring has been pushing back the boundaries of what’s possible on the bass guitar for decades. A student of bass legend Jaco Pastorius, Michael has honed his skills on hundreds of recordings and thousands of live shows around the world, working with a diverse collection of artists including the late guitar genius Michael Hedges, New Age keyboardist Suzanne Ciani, Avant-improv guitar innovator Henry Kaiser, celebrated folk troubadour John Gorka, experimental post-metal rockers Tim Alexander (Primus) and Alex Skolnick (Testament) and electro-pop pioneer Thomas Dolby. He has earned three gold records, Grammy and Bammie nominations, a Berklee School of Music Distinguished Alumni Award, two Just Plain Folks Awards and numerous Bass Player Magazine Readers’ Poll awards including 1994 Bassist of the Year. His YouTube videos have garnered millions of views displaying the expressive skills that have led The San Jose Mercury News to call him “...a virtuoso electric bassist who’s almost single-handedly re-defined the outer limits of the instrument” and The Philadelphia Inquirer to refer to him as simply “...the hottest bassist today.”

Emmanuel Pina - Oud
Biologist, Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences and multi-instrumentalist musician. Throughout his scientific career, he has been involved in several research projects with international publications in fields such as virology, breast cancer and the development of drugs for the treatment of lymphoma, diabetes, and parasitic diseases. As a self-taught musician, he started playing drums and guitar. Currently specializes in the study and performance of ancient string instruments such as the oud, tar, setar and baglama, as well as modern instruments such as the electric bass and the Chapman Stick. He has been part of various bands and shared the stage with several musicians, including Human, Luz de Riada, Alfonso André, Markus Reuter, and Alonso Arreola in projects such as Rosetta and LabAcústica, which eventually led to his inclusion in 3Below.

Prog Multi-Instrumentalist Tim Morse To Release New Album “Soundtracks”

Prog multi-instrumentalist Tim Morse will be releasing his eagerly awaited new album “Soundtracks” on November 12, 2024! The title of the album comes from each song being its own musical vignette or individual mini-soundtrack. Tim decided to play all of the instruments on “Soundtracks” by himself - for the first time creating a true solo album. In addition to singing all of the vocal parts, he played: keyboards, acoustic and electric guitars, ebow guitar, mandolin, banjo, other stringed things, bass guitars, drums and hand percussion

Says Tim, “‘Soundtracks’ isn’t a concept album, although I’m sure you could find a theme or concept if you wished. The main thing that was important for me was to follow my muse and record music that truly moved me. Even when writing the lyrics, the words I chose were more for the emotion they evoked rather than their meaning. I decided with this project that I’d write everything from scratch, giving myself a couple of months to create the music needed for the album. There were no rules about the music itself, so Soundtracks is a diverse, eclectic mix of styles and genres. On this album you’ll find a Beatles homage (‘Blueberry Way’), instrumental electronic music (‘Cityscape’), a ballad (‘Lullaby’), and so much more. It was a blast to roll out of bed and think, ‘I feel like recording bass this morning...’ and not depend on anyone else to complete the project. It brought out a fun aspect of experimentation, especially with instruments I’d never played in the past. Lastly, I gave myself the challenge of recording/mixing/mastering the album within six months to keep the project fresh and immediate for me. Overall, I’m very pleased with ‘Soundtracks’ and feel it’s one of the best things I've ever done.”

The first single “Blueberry Way” features a stunning A.I. video created by Doug Reid (Augwolf). Says Tim, “When I wrote the music to the song ‘Blueberry Way’ I noted that the harmonic structure had a mid-sixties British pop feel and leaned into it. The original lyrics were more of a parody, and I felt they didn’t really fit and so I wrote an idealized version of childhood with the refrain ‘Blueberry Way’ being a magical, loving, idyllic place. It’s been great to see that the people who've heard it respond enthusiastically to the song and its message.”

Tim Morse began his instrument instruction at a young age and started composing immediately upon picking up the guitar. He later moved onto the piano and studied as a music composition major, writing extended pieces such as a string quartet and two piano sonatas. During this time Tim performed with various rock and fusion bands and played on many recording sessions. Tim’s first album of original music was entitled “Transformation” and was released in 2005. The album was well received by the Progressive Rock community and was recognized as keeping in the tradition of seventies prog-rock yet recorded and performed with a modern edge.

His second album “Faithscience” was released in 2012 and musically it picked up where “Transformation” left off, continuing to explore the best of Progressive Rock. In addition to this release Tim became a member of the Jerry Jennings band and formed The Mangoes with Bret Bingham. The Mangoes released their debut album in 2014 and it was appreciated for its pop sensibility and quirky humor. Rick Derringer Produced Colour Radio Guitarist Jim Eannelli To Release New Solo Album “Just Deserts”

Producer and multi-instrumentalist Jim Eannelli has been in every sort of band from hard rock to synth pop; he worked with Rick Derringer on the Colour Radio record, played guitar, performed and recorded with both former BoDean Sam Llanas and the Shivvers, the ‘80s power-pop band that finally gained international recognition in recent years. He is a legendary supporting player in his hometown, Milwaukee, and he steps onto center stage for his first album, “Just Deserts.”

Dipping into a trove of original songs written over the years, Eannelli’s “Just Deserts” encapsulates his experiences in life as well as music. The songs are deeply rooted in his years as a member of diverse bands. Just Deserts opens with a ferocious depiction of war’s casualties, “29 Women,” delivered by a rockabilly rhythm with punk attitude and a knife-slashing guitar solo. Eannelli segues easily into “Where I’ve Been,” a ballad of heartbreak and loss. His musical sources are wide, from the sullen blues of “Train from Chicago” to the Beatlesque pop of “Waitin’” and the soaring Americana rock of “Christine.” As a producer, Eannelli reaches for the soul of each song, catching the bright spark of their creation. Progressive Rock Band Mile Marker Zero to Release Third Full Length Album “Coming of Age” on October 4, 2024

“Coming of Age” is the third full length album from Progressive Rock Band Mile Marker Zero. Following up on their previous album “The Fifth Row”, Mile Marker Zero has shifted from a concept album focused on technology about the exponential growth of AI, to a more human reflection on growing up and the nostalgic experiences of childhood.

“Coming of Age” is eight tracks of new music which is the band’s most mature material to date. To go with the theme of nostalgia, the full album was only released in physical form (CD) on July 6, 2024. The band played a hugely successful album release show and made the album available only via live shows, their website and Bandcamp.

Throughout 2024, Mile Marker Zero released three singles to all streaming platforms: “Best Is Yet To Come”, “Towns to Grow Up In” and an edited version of “Bizarre”. Dewey Bunnell, Dan Peek, and Gerry Beckley were sons of US Air Force personnel stationed in London, where they began performing live. When Theo Travis began experimenting with long-form improvised instrumentals for duduk - a woodwind instrument from Armenia sometimes described as ‘the saddest sounding instrument in the world’ - he could hardly have imagined a world in which such a one-hour piece would clock up in excess of a million plays on YouTube. Yet that is precisely what happened, with the multi-functional music finding fans purely in its own terms as well as for an array of uses from meditation to yoga, to relaxation and more. Something about the sound, the performances, the context, found, built and maintained a much wider audience than most, far more mainstream music. All of this was achieved without hype, marketing or a dedicated record label supporting the release.

Extending the idea, earlier this year Theo worked with producer Steven Wilson, (who has previously mixed and mastered many of Theo’s solo recordings and in whose band Theo has played) to produce a new duduk improvisation in multi-channel audio as well as stereo, with soundscapes assembled by Steven Wilson from Theo’s alto flute playing. The result is a stunning and utterly unique piece of work which helps to define new possibilities for so-called “immersive audio”, without losing focus on the pure sound and inherent musicality of the duduk improvisations which have struck such a chord with a wide and growing audience online.

The new piece “Aeolus” (again, one hour long) appears in Dolby Atmos, DTS-HD MA 5.1 Surround Sound and 24/96 high resolution stereo on the Blu-ray and in standard 16/44 audio on the accompanying CD.

There’s a palpable sense of energy and enthusiasm from the audience captured on the tapes at this concert as King Crimson (sharing a European tour with then label band mates Roxy Music) take to the stage in Fréjus, France, in late Summer, 1982. With two albums’ worth of material to draw upon (Discipline, Oct 1981 & Beat, June 1982) & extensive touring that had already seen the band play concerts in the UK, Europe, USA & Japan, the live shows - as often with King Crimson – had a dynamism & punch that simply couldn’t be replicated in a recording studio. Add a pair of classic KC instrumentals, (Red & Larks’ Tongues in Aspic Part Two), to that mix & all the ingredients were there for a very special performance.

Recorded initially for a video release, the audio from the concert has, inexplicably, never been issued as a standalone release. Nor has a live album from the 1980s line-up previously appeared on vinyl. “Sheltering Skies” presents the complete King Crimson performance across 2LPs pressed on 200-gram vinyl or a single CD, both completed with the addition of the recording of ‘The Sheltering Sky’ from the previous night’s concert at Cap d’Agde. The 1980s King Crimson was, in terms of concert performances/album releases, still less than a year old when this album was recorded. The collective decades of experience of the individual musicians is funneled through the enthusiasm & freshness of the line-up & the newness of the material to produce a special concert recording.

While King Crimson material from this period is always in demand, with the forthcoming US tour by Beat (King Crimson’s Adrian Belew & Tony Levin, joined by guitarist Steve Vai & Tool drummer Danny Carey), performing the material from that period, there is increased interest in hearing this material as it was originally performed.

After months of anticipation, the debut album from Jon Anderson and The Band Geeks, “TRUE”, is released today.  The nine-song album, produced by Jon and Richie Castellano, is the album YES fans worldwide have been waiting for since Jon’s departure from the band in 2008.  The album’s centerpieces are two epic tracks, the 16 and a half minute “Once Upon a Dream” and the nearly 10 minute “Counties and Countries”.  To celebrate today’s release, a video for “Counties and Countries” premieres today. Rockabilly Queen LINDA GAIL LEWIS Shares Her Most Personal Reflections On Her Brother JERRY LEE LEWIS’s Passing In A New Single, Announces New Studio Album!

Los Angeles, CA - Linda Gail Lewis, a veteran of the music scene and genuine rock royalty, is proud to announce her newest full-length studio album, Rockabilly Queen, set for release on July 26. Produced by rockabilly guitar icon Danny B. Harvey, the album contains a mix of original material written by Lewis as well as several hand-picked classics that Lewis and Harvey, along with Stray Cats drummer Slim Jim Phantom, deftly transform into fresh and exciting tracks.

One of the most poignant and powerful songs on the album, however, is Lewis’s heartfelt, emotional remembrance of her brother, rock legend Jerry Lee Lewis, who passed away in 2022. The song is called “I Knew That You Were Leaving,” and Linda’s story of how it came to be is deeply moving.

I woke up one morning, and while still half asleep, a terrible feeling came over me because I remembered that my big brother, Jerry Lee Lewis, was no longer with me. It had been about a year since he’d passed away and as I was thinking about how I wished I could just go see him one more time and this song came to me from out of nowhere. I immediately went to my piano to document it but every time I tried to sing it aloud I would start sobbing. It took many attempts to get the demo recorded. Even months later when I recorded this final version in the studio I’d have to stop singing at times because I’d start crying uncontrollably when thinking of all the good times we had together over the years.

There are many people who miss my brother Jerry Lee, and also many folks that miss their own departed family members as much as I miss my brother. I hope they all find comfort from my new single and video, “I Knew That You Were Leaving,” and realize we’re not alone.

This song accurately expresses how I feel about losing my brother and also how I felt when I first realized he was leaving us. This is my heartfelt personal tribute and my eternal memorial to the greatest big brother a girl could have, and one of the greatest talents to have ever lived.

Jerry Lee Lewis, I miss you dearly and constantly wish you were still here with me.  I’ll love you always, your sister, Linda Gail Lewis.
