Laura Meade of Prog Ensemble IZZ to Release New Solo Album 'The Most Dangerous Woman in America' on May 21, 2021

Laura Meade’s new studio album, The Most Dangerous Woman in America, due on May 21, 2021 on Doone Records, marks Meade’s follow up to her solo debut, 2018’s Remedium and 2019’s Don’t Panic with New York progressive rock septet IZZ.

The Most Dangerous Woman in America, co-written with IZZ bandmate John Galgano between March and December of 2020, explores the story of a woman whose voice was silenced and whose story was all but forgotten by her own country.

“As we wrote the music and lyrics for this album, John and I realized that the concept and story that inspired us was not just the story of one woman, but also the story of all of those who stay true to themselves regardless of the cost,” says Meade.

“There have been so many people throughout history – many of them women – who stand up for themselves, stand up for what they believe in, and experience great pain and suffering for doing so, their memories and voices lost along the way to gossip and rumor. I hope that this album, in some small way, honors and gives voice to the forgotten.”

From the pulsing forward-momentum of “Leaving” to the majesty of “Iconoclast” to the mystery and passion of “Forgive Me,” The Most Dangerous Woman in America explores the sincerity, emotion, and authenticity that so often lie beyond the gossip and sensationalism of fame and celebrity.

“This album was written to honor the forgotten: those whose stories remain untold, whose lives have been neutralized by those with unchecked power,” says Meade.

Meade’s new album features the songs “Burned at the Stake” and the title track, both available on April 23, 2021 for purchase by pre-ordering the full album at izzmusic.bandcamp.com and for streaming on Spotify.

Meade is joined on the album by IZZ members Tom Galgano (Keyboards, Production), Brian Coralian (V-Drums), John Galgano (Bass).

Laura Meade’s The Most Dangerous Woman in America is available for pre-order now on the IZZ Bandcamp page: izzmusic.bandcamp.com (download) and will be available for streaming on all platforms on May 21, 2021. CD and Vinyl versions of the album are also available for pre-order now.

Prog Ensemble IZZ Releases "42: Glimpse of a Moment" Documentary

IZZ began the writing sessions for what would become their 7th full length studio album, Don’t Panic, in mid-2017. At the end of that year, the band got together in a rehearsal studio to piece together the centerpiece of the album, “42.”

The band hired a film crew to document these sessions not knowing in what manner the film might be used later on. The result of these sessions, 42: Glimpse of a Moment is a 48-minute documentary that provides a unique window into the band’s process as they write, arrange, and rehearse their epic track from Don't Panic, “42.” The documentary includes a full rehearsal run-through of the entire song at that early stage of development.

42: Glimpse of a Moment is available now for purchase (download and streaming) for $4.99 via Vimeo On Demand here: https://vimeo.com/ondemand/42glimpseofamoment and linked on the IZZ website (www.izzmusic.com).

“The footage in this film was shot several months prior to commencing the recording of Don’t Panic, so it’s really exciting to have captured the band working together in the studio at such an early stage in the writing and arranging process,” notes bassist John Galgano.

Don’t Panic, released in May 2019, turned out to be IZZ’s most successful album to date and when the band looked back at the footage from these sessions in late 2017, they found that they had captured the essence of the collaborative spirit and camaraderie of IZZ.

“I think IZZ fans will absolutely love this look behind the curtain and I think fans of progressive rock in general will enjoy it because it’s just an interesting peek into how a band works on an extended piece of music,” says keyboardist Tom Galgano.

IZZ hopes that fans will enjoy the experience of being a fly on the wall with the band.

Film and editing by Mallory Kinney, who has previously worked with IZZ and Laura Meade on the videos for Don’t Panic and Sunflowers at Chernobyl.

NY Prog Rockers IZZ to Release New EP "Half Life" on July 28, 2020

On the heels of their celebrated 2019 studio album Don’t Panic, IZZ is set to release a 20-minute EP entitled Half Life featuring four tracks including three new studio songs as well as a previously unreleased live version of “The Wait of It All,” a track originally featured on their 2004 EP, Ampersand Volume 1.

Half Life will be available beginning on July 28 via download on Bandcamp: izzmusic.bandcamp.com. A limited vinyl pressing and a limited run of Half Life on CD will also be available for purchase directly from the band and their label, Doone Records, via their website: izzmusic.com.

“The title track of this EP was actually written several years ago, but when we listened to it again recently, it took on new meaning given the uncertainty in the world today and it became obvious to us that we needed to finish mixing it and get it out into the world,” says bassist John Galgano.

Lyrically and thematically, the three new studio songs cover a wide range from the joy and mystery of “The Soul of Music” to the heartfelt contentment of “Into the Sun” to the escapism and wonder of the title track “Half Life.” Musically, the EP shows a different side to IZZ which the band is keen to present to their fans.

“We’re a band that never likes to do the same thing twice. We want to keep things interesting not only for our fans, but for ourselves,” says keyboardist and producer Tom Galgano.

“This EP comes at an interesting time for the band and for the world because we have been using our time at home these past few months to take a deep dive into writing our next proper studio album which we plan on releasing in 2021 and this EP kind of snuck its way into our consciousness, so we decided to go with it and follow the muse,” says drummer Brian Coralian.

NYC Prog Ensemble IZZ To Release New Album “Ampersand, Volume 2”

IZZ set to release their new album, “Ampersand, Volume 2”, on October 11th, 2016. Comprised of 12 brand new studio tracks, “Ampersand, Volume 2” contains songs that highlight the band’s passion for songwriting, melody and diversity of styles and sounds.

From the band:

Sometimes music is just music. Songwriters and artists create works about which they are passionate. Sometimes these works fall into a certain category; sometimes they don’t.

Ampersand, Volume 2 is a brand new IZZ album. These are songs that reflect our passion for songwriting and our exploration of music created at once from both the heart and the head.

Ampersand, Volume 2 is the perfect vehicle for these songs because, until now, they have been orphans. Just as the tracks on the first volume of Ampersand did not find a home on any previous IZZ album, these songs have been biding their time, waiting for their moment. Now they have it.

We hope you enjoy listening to these songs as much as we enjoyed crafting, arranging and recording them. While these songs may not fit into a specific category, we trust that you will agree that they fit into the category known as IZZ.

“Ampersand, Volume 2” will be available for download on iTunes, Amazon.com and all other digital download retailers on October 11th. Physical copies of the “Ampersand, Volume 2” CD, (including a limited amount of autographed copies of the CD) will be available starting the week of October 24th in North America directly from the IZZ website: www.izzmusic.com. For international purchase of the CD, please visit www.izzmusic.com for a listing of international vendors.

“Ampersand, Volume 2” Track Listing:

1. Penelope
2. Fine
3. Burn (If You Let It)
4. Take Me by the Hand
5. The Telephone
6. Forever
7. Hail Double Knob, Children of Mars
8. Again and Again
9. 84th and Amsterdam
10. Ascension in Time

IZZ Guitarist Paul Bremner Set to Release New Studio Album “The Witness”

New York, NY – IZZ guitarist, Paul Bremner’s new studio album, The Witness, is scheduled for release on April 26, 2016. IZZ fans have grown to associate Paul’s distinctive and melodic guitar playing with the “IZZ Sound”. Paul has earned the respect of the progressive rock community by writing such memorable songs as “Light From Your Eyes”, “Illuminata” and co-writing the IZZ classics “Late Night Salvation” and “Can’t Feel the Earth, Part II,” among many others. Paul’s new studio album of 10 songs showcases both his dynamic guitar playing and his penchant for writing emotional music and lyrics.

“I am thrilled to release this collection of songs” says Bremner. “They feature a wide range of moods and emotions and I think IZZ fans will find them intriguing and satisfying.”

The first track of the album “From Here I Can See the Horizon” features a powerful and exciting lead vocal performance from Anmarie Byrnes while the emotionally charged “Warm” spotlights a hauntingly beautiful lead vocal from Laura Meade. The energetic fury of the title track “The Witness” features Brian Coralian on drums while Greg DiMiceli is showcased on several tracks including the jazz/funk-inspired “No Remorse”.

Tom Galgano, who sings lead vocals on several tracks and who engineered and co-produced the album with Bremner notes, “Every song on this album is different and yet they are all connected by Paul’s unique guitar sound and songwriting. It’s been an absolute pleasure working on this album – in fact in many ways it’s been like working on an ‘alternate’ IZZ record.”

The last track on the album, “Last Exit Before Toll” comes in at over 20 minutes and encompasses the full range of Bremner’s musical palette. “I am very happy to include this extended piece which I hope will take the listener on a journey; and I am happy that it features all of my IZZ band mates.”

Paul Bremner’s The Witness will be available for purchase on iTunes, at Amazon.com and at your favorite online retailer on April 26, 2016.

NY Prog Ensemble IZZ Set To Release New Studio Album, Everlasting Instant

New York, NY – IZZ’s new studio album, Everlasting Instant, is scheduled for release on April 7, 2015 and serves as the final installment of a three-part series of albums that began with The Darkened Room in 2009 and continued with Crush of Night in 2012.  Everlasting Instant concludes this epic thematic arc with a fresh palette of sounds, all the while maintaining the sharp and memorable melodies that have become a hallmark of the band.

From the syncopated rhythms and unpredictable meter changes of Can’t Feel the Earth, Part IV, to the through-composed nature of Keep Away, to the uplifting drama of Sincerest Life, the fearlessly modern sound of IZZ continues to surprise at every turn.

Tom Galgano, IZZ’s keyboardist and vocalist who continues his roles as producer and engineer for this album, regards Everlasting Instant as a fitting culmination of the musical themes presented throughout the last two IZZ albums, “Many of the melodies, rhythms and lyrics on Everlasting Instant began as seeds on the two previous albums and they have undoubtedly come to fruition on this new release. Listeners will recognize these subtle variations on prior themes and will also be presented with an exciting new collection of musical ideas.”

The stunning voices of Anmarie Byrnes (lead vocals on “Like a Straight Line”) and Laura Meade (lead vocals on “If It’s True”) are the most present they have ever been on an IZZ release. Contributing lead and harmony vocals throughout the entire album, Byrnes and Meade add a color that makes the IZZ sound on Everlasting Instant even more unique.

Tom Galgano’s keyboard prowess is in full force as he takes masterful solos in “Start Again” and “Own the Mystery” as well as exhibiting superb classical piano work in “The Three Seers.” Guitarist Paul Bremner’s inimitable style continues to be on display in Everlasting Instant as he takes hold of the listener’s attention in tracks such as “Can’t Feel the Earth, Part IV” where his acrobatic style is in firm focus.

John Galgano’s bass provides solid footing to “Sincerest Life” and “Can’t Feel the Earth, Part IV” where his melodic approach to the bass is brought to the fore. The drumming/percussion team of Brian Coralian and Greg DiMiceli, well-known for their unique, yet complementary playing styles, continue to create a one-of-a-kind rhythm section as evidenced in songs like “The Everlasting Instant” (featuring Brian Coralian)  and “Sincerest Life” (featuring Greg DiMiceli).

The IZZ line-up for Everlasting Instant is:

Paul Bremner: electric and acoustic guitar
Anmarie Byrnes: lead and backing vocals
Brian Coralian: electronic and acoustic drums and percussion
Greg DiMiceli: drums and percussion
John Galgano: bass guitar, acoustic/electric guitar, lead and backing vocals
Tom Galgano: keyboards, lead and backing vocals
Laura Meade: lead and backing vocals

IZZ’s Everlasting Instant will be available for purchase at Amazon, iTunes and all online music retailers.

In other news, IZZ will kick off the release of Everlasting Instant with a live performance at the New Jersey Proghouse on April 19. IZZ plans to announce more shows in support of Everlasting Instant during the Summer/Fall of 2015. The band also has plans to return to the studio to continue work on their next studio album.
