Harmonic Mind, the band's 17th studio album, is another welcome chapter in the ever-evolving Ozric’s story. Named after the geometric structure and harmonic nature of existence, the album weaves together soaring guitar melodies, intricate rhythms, lush synth textures and deep, hypnotic grooves into the kind of free-flowing psychedelic odyssey that has become their trademark.

Recorded at the band's home studios as it gradually took shape across Scotland, Devon and finally Glastonbury, Harmonic Mind also captures something a little different. Featuring the full touring line-up - including drummer Pat Garvey, bassist Corey Wallace, percussionist Paul Hankin and multi-instrumentalist Saskia Maxwell - the album has a natural energy that reflects the chemistry of the band's live performances, with each player bringing their own voice to the music.

From the driving pulse of "Guardstones" to the cosmic momentum of "Space Platform", Harmonic Mind is packed with the flowing musicianship and exploratory spirit that fans have come to expect and adore. "Malachite" pays tribute to one of Ed Wynne's favourite minerals, while also giving centre stage to his custom sandalwood acoustic from Kif Wood Guitars, complete with a beautiful malachite inlay around the sound hole. It's one of many moments that highlights the warmth and detail running throughout the album, alongside the fluid interplay between Ed Wynne's guitar and Silas Neptune's ever-shifting synth landscapes.

Produced by Ed Wynne and Silas Neptune, with mastering handled by Silas for the first time, the album feels both fresh and reassuringly familiar. Even the return of the beloved Erp on the cover art offers a knowing nod to longtime listeners. There's no radical change of direction here, just Ozric Tentacles doing what they do best.

Recorded between August 2025 and January 2026, the project also marks a welcome return to full band recording, with all musicians working together at Decoy Studios - a creative approach Wakeman considers essential to capturing the spontaneity and energy of progressive rock at its best.

The album is performed by Wakeman’s English Rock Ensemble, featuring bassist Lee Pomeroy, guitarist Dave Colquhoun, drummer Adam Falkner and vocalist Mollie Marriott, daughter of legendary Steve Marriott. The album was mastered by renowned engineer Simon Heyworth.

Among the album’s centrepieces is Bowie’s Vision, a deeply personal homage to Wakeman’s friend David Bowie, whose fascination with Mars helped shape popular culture’s image of the planet. The connection is more than thematic: Wakeman performed the iconic piano on Bowie’s Life on Mars?, making this tribute both musical and autobiographical - a reflection on a shared history, a lasting friendship and one of rock’s most celebrated recordings.

The music was initially composed as keyboard “templates” at Nursery Studios, before being expanded collaboratively by the band at Decoy Studios and engineered by Toby Wood. Final overdubs and mixing with producer/engineer Erik Jordan bring the vision into sharp focus - from sweeping symphonic passages to intricate rhythmic sequences and haunting choral textures.

Jann Klose Teams Up with Music Icon Marcella Detroit for New Single "Hurting Nobody"

What happens when you get to write music with one of your childhood heroes?

For internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter Jann Klose, the answer is "Hurting Nobody", the latest single from his acclaimed concept album The Future Trap.

The song features Marcella Detroit, one half of the iconic duo Shakespears Sister, whose unforgettable voice helped make "Stay" one of the biggest songs of the 1990s. The global hit topped the UK Singles Chart for eight consecutive weeks, won the 1993 BRIT Award for Best British Video and cemented Detroit's place among pop music's most celebrated vocalists. Long before that, she had already built an extraordinary career, co-writing Eric Clapton's classic "Lay Down Sally", touring and recording with Clapton, and working alongside music legends including Elton John, Aretha Franklin, Alice Cooper, Bette Midler and Robin Gibb.

For Klose, collaborating with Detroit was something he never imagined would happen.

"I honestly can't believe I get to work with one of my idols! When I was a young teen living in Hamburg, Germany I used to watch Shakespears Sister music videos on MTV and was enthralled by them. I never thought I'd eventually meet one half of the group, Marcella Detroit and start writing songs with her! We wrote several and three of them made it onto The Future Trap including 'Hurting Nobody'. Marcy recorded all her vocals at her home studio in Los Angeles and sent them to me and my producer Marcus Dembinski who cleverly dropped them into the track. We performed the song together when I was on tour in California earlier this year and are planning on doing that again soon."

The partnership began through a series of online songwriting sessions that quickly developed into a genuine creative friendship. Together they wrote three songs for The Future Trap, with "Hurting Nobody" becoming one of the album's standout moments.

Detroit recalls how the song came together naturally through conversation.

"Writing of 'Hurting Nobody'. Jann and I would convene online regularly near the end of last year. When I write with artists, I like to have lengthy chats to see what they're thinking and what's important to them. One day we started talking about love of course and sexuality. Suddenly he was recounting a recent experience and said this phrase 'hurting nobody'. I was immediately inspired and came back with an idea encompassing his experience, the feeling of being in the moment in a beautiful encounter full of surprises. I don't think I'm allowed to get too descriptive. And we finished it together."

Released in May, The Future Trap has been widely praised as Klose's most ambitious project to date. Rather than a conventional album, it unfolds as a cinematic concept record, following a central character through love, obsession, heartbreak, renewal and acceptance. The album seamlessly blends pop, rock, folk, electronic, orchestral and progressive influences while featuring collaborations with acclaimed musicians including Everett Bradley (Bon Jovi), Alphonso Horne (The Late Show with Stephen Colbert), Annie Haslam, Rachel Flowers, South Africa's own DJ Cosher and Marcella Detroit.

At its heart, however, "Hurting Nobody" is a reminder that great songs often begin with honest conversation and that sometimes childhood dreams really do come true.

The Pete Roth Trio release their new single “Full Circle” today, July 17, 2026! This is the first single from their upcoming live CD/DVD album Group Chat. This song is one of the first the Trio produced when they first started two or three years ago, and it’s the first track on the album. Unusually for Bill, it’s in a very common 4/4 groove! “Full Circle” also appears on the accompanying live DVD.

The Pete Roth Trio return with Group Chat, a striking new CD/DVD release that captures the spontaneity, interplay and fearless musical conversation at the heart of this exceptional band. Led by guitarist Pete Roth, alongside bassist Mike Pratt and legendary drummer Bill Bruford, Group Chat is Roth's third major album and a release of particular significance, marking Bruford's eagerly awaited return to headline performance after a 13-year hiatus, as well as his first appearance on new material in 19 years.

Produced by Pete Roth and Bill Bruford for Winterfold Records, Group Chat presents a trio that thrives on intimacy, risk and connection. Held By Trees are set to release a new single ‘Not Home Yet’ on 17 July, ahead of new album ‘The Call of Home’ on 2 October 2026. Featuring Simone Marie formerly of Primal Scream, and currently with The Twilight Sad, the song is accompanied by a striking fanbase-created video.

David Joseph says of the song, “We enter the narrative of the new album with this song about feeling lost and claustrophobic in an urban environment, and longing for the safety of home. This is from the heavier section of the album before things get more peaceful and joyful, but it all works as journey.

I’m delighted to have Simone Marie working with us again, this time singing lead vocals for the first time, I think - which is a real honour. The video for the song was made out of clips sent in from followers of Held By Trees in cities all over the world”.

Simone Marie added, “I thoroughly love and enjoy the process of working with David and Held By Trees. He sent me demos of the new stuff and I felt a connection with it. I heard ideas and melodies  for what he sent me and he gave me confidence and space to find my own way to the parts I contributed. I’m really excited for the whole album to be out in the wild.”

‘The Call of Home’ is the follow-up to the critically acclaimed ‘Hinterland’ and finds the band exploring very different territory, with the album featuring nine tracks with vocals bookended with two more familiar instrumental takes, including for the first time on vinyl, Lay Your Troubles Down with Martin Smith. The album will be released by Tweed Jacket Music / Low Port Music on vinyl, CD and digital formats – but will be initially absent from streaming platforms as each track is released as singles. The striking original artwork, so important to Held By Trees, has been originated by @BlankEmbrace.

‘The Call of Home’ sees a broadening of personnel, with new musical collaborators with backgrounds as diverse as Radiohead and Primal Scream, to Wet Wet Wet and Delirious [Clive Deamer, Simone Marie, Graeme Duffin, and Martin Smith/Stu Garrard respectively]. With David Joseph once again are the core band of Robbie McIntosh, Laurence Pendrous, and Andy Panayi with their shared history with Mark Hollis and Talk Talk, among many others. Still at his side are James Grant and Grant Howard, continuing a friendship and musical partnership spanning over two decades now in various forms. David’s key musical mentors Martin Smith, Jason Upton and Eric Bibb take the vocal mic alongside Simone Marie and Marc James and, in a departure, David even sings a few himself.

David Joseph said, “I’ve made an album of songs with some of our friends singing. It’s a love letter to the music of the 80s and 90s, when I was a youngster falling in love with music through my parent’s records and cassettes, and what I heard on the radio and on Top of the Pops. It’s on the theme of coming home; to reunion, redemption and the warming of the heart through sounds and stories.

This album is a labour of love on many levels, a branching out of what this project is and can be. Over nine songs, bookended with two instrumentals, I hope all who listen find their way home to an embrace that this music can offer the soul.”

Held By Trees is a journey in itself and ‘The Call of Home’ offers new sonic vistas to explore, whilst retaining the heart and hearth of what makes this band special.

HAPPY THE MAN PERFORMS “FOURTH OF JULY: AN AMERICAN SUITE” BY RON RIDDLE

A long-dormant cinematic work born during the golden era of large-scale television documentary production has been re-imagined for America’s 250th anniversary.

Progressive rock pioneers Happy the Man have been recording and developing Fourth of July: An American Suite, a large-scale musical work composed by Ron Riddle — originally created in the 2000s during Riddle’s years scoring television for Discovery Channel and TLC.

The music traces its origins to the landmark Houston fireworks spectacular featured in the television series Detonators, where Riddle served as composer for the series. At the time, the Houston event was widely recognized as one of the largest fireworks productions in America, combining massive pyrotechnic displays with live-event drama on an enormous scale.

Written to accompany both the spectacle and the emotional tension behind the production itself, the music moved fluidly between progressive rock, orchestral passages, cinematic Americana, and rhythmically driven soundtrack composition.

Several of the progressive sections were originally conceived with the musical language and adventurous spirit of Happy the Man in mind — making the current collaboration feel less like a reunion and more like the completion of a decades-long musical arc.

“This project feels strangely inevitable,” says Riddle. “The original piece already carried the DNA of Happy the Man inside it. What’s exciting now is hearing those ideas finally realized by the musicians who inspired that side of the writing in the first place.” The recording features a nucleus of original Happy the Man members who have continued collaborating musically in recent years, including bassist Rick Kennell, and guitarist Stanley Whitaker. Mixed and mastered by Rick Kennell in his innermost studios, the tracks were all recorded in their own studios.

There are two versions of the single: the Full version which will include a tension building orchestral prelude and the Fireworks version.  Rather than revisiting past material, Fourth of July: An American Suite aims to push forward — combining the compositional ambition of classic progressive rock with cinematic storytelling, modern production, and a distinctly American emotional landscape.

ARGOVIA RELEASES THE SINGLE EBB & FLOW FEATURING ROSS JENNINGS OF HAKEN

The Colombian band Argovia, one of the most distinctive voices in Latin American progressive rock, releases their new single Ebb & Flow, out today on all digital platforms. The track is the third preview of the band’s upcoming album Primal Repetition, due in 2026, and features a special collaboration with Ross Jennings, vocalist of Haken.

Ebb & Flow explores a confrontation with one’s own fragile and defeatist side, initially perceived as an external, alien voice. As the song unfolds, this dialogue is revealed to be an internal process—a conversation with personal vulnerability. The lyrics reflect on how life can push us to the edge and cause us to forget what is essential—seeing, listening, and being—and suggest that only by accepting both light and shadow it is possible to move forward, fight to be truly alive, and regain balance.

To reinforce this ambiguity between the internal and the external, the band chose to approach the song as a vocal duet, a device they have long been drawn to and previously explored on their Who We Are EP. From there, the idea emerged to invite Ross Jennings to take part in the song and develop this concept on both a vocal and emotional level.

“Haken is one of the most important bands within the progressive genre and one of our favourites. Ross is one of my musical heroes. Working with him is a dream come true and he is an incredible singer. We wanted to challenge ourselves and show that we are a band capable of aiming for that level and building something bigger than we ever imagined,” says Ani Guillén, Argovia’s vocalist and guitarist.

Jennings recorded an initial vocal demo remotely while touring with Haken during Cruise to the Edge 2025, working from an improvised studio set up in his cabin. After this first exchange, he recorded the final vocal takes upon returning to the United Kingdom.

“I connected deeply with this particular song and I’m very happy with the result. Argovia deserves more attention than they’re currently getting. I think it’s a great song, with really deep lyrics, and I hope you enjoy this other side of me, adding my voice alongside Ani’s. I hope you like the song. Listen to it now. Produced by Argovia alongside Germán Vergara (Aisles), mixed by Fernando Cubillos (Aisles, Helloween, Mark Farner) and mastered by Steve Kitch (The Pineapple Thief), Ebb & Flow unfolds through an immersive and melancholic soundscape built on layers of synthesizers and a once-again prominent bass, gradually leading toward a tribal climax driven by Afro–Latin-rooted percussion. This moment serves as a reminder of what is essential: returning to being, seeing, and listening.

According to the band, “Ebb & Flow is the conceptual epitome of Primal Repetition and is probably the song that sets the thematic pulse of the album. The ebb and flow does not propose a definitive way out of the cycle, but rather the acceptance that this repetition is part of the human experience.”

Guitarist Riley Jaxon Releases Track “Starseed” With YDB Of The Wu-Tang Legacy

Riley Jaxon, son of the late guitarist Bruce Cameron, has collaborated with Young Dirty Bastard. YDB is the son of Ol’Dirty Bastard, a founding member of the legendary hip-hop group ‘Wu-Tang Clan’. The two artists, who are talented in their own right, have come together to fuse a familiar sound from both parties into an epic track titled “Starseed”. The eclectic song tackles a side of modern inner-city life that has since echoed from the late 80’s and early 90’s, feeling nostalgic yet fresh for the listeners.

The song has an official video set with a release date of October 31st. With a six song EP coming in January.

“The album, and indeed the music, was heavily inspired by my wife Rachel, who heard me playing a piece on the piano (which eventually became the track ‘Garo’) and asked me about it. I explained that when I was feeling depressed or sad, I would always sit at the piano and play, as I found it healing - such is the power of music. She immediately said it was something I should share musically, as all the pieces could have a personal meaning to anyone listening… and so ‘Melancholia’ was born.”

This epic follows the story of a young girl being raised by her father in a post-cataclysmic world and her pathway from being an inspiration to a leader. Other songs vary in theme from obsession with one's work or task to musings about the passage of time forging ahead despite obstacles.

Musically, while tipping a hat to the Spock's legacy, the new album has an energy that arguably surpasses many or our previous releases due, in no small part, to the addition of Nick Potters on drums. He's an amazing and well-rounded musician who has perfect pitch and a great singing voice (yes, we found a drummer that is an amazing singer...named Nick!). Between Michael and Ryo's writing, this album also has a melodic complexity that may sound new to fans. Anyone who has heard Ryo improvise will have likely picked up on a fusion influence and that certainly shows up in the writing.

I can't speak for everyone, but I'm very proud, excited, and honestly relieved that it turned out as good as it did.  Everyone put in a ton of work but none so much as Ryo in pushing this over the line.”

At the centre of this particular storm is Ryo Okumoto, whose fingerprints are all over the album, not just as a performer, but as a driving creative force. Teaming up with co-writer Michael Whiteman (I Am the Manic Whale) and longstanding bandmembers Alan Morse & Ted Leonard, Ryo has helped shape an album that is undeniably Spock’s Beard with a characteristic wry smile to boot.

The album was produced by Okumoto and recorded at each band member’s respective home studio. Esteemed producer Rich Mouser (Dream Theater/Weezer) takes up the mixing and mastering duties.
