PUBLIC IMAGE LTD Bassist JAH WOBBLE Brings His METAL BOX - REBUILT IN DUB Tour To The U.S.!

Los Angeles, CA – Having wowed audiences across the Pond performing his unique reinterpretation of the PiL classic Metal Box (later retitled Second Edition) live, co-founder and co-creator of that groundbreaking album Jah Wobble is ready to bring his concert extravaganza to North America! Kicking off in Toronto on July 10, the tour brings Wobble’s Metal Box - Rebuilt In Dub studio album to vivid life, stripping such PiL favorites as “Poptones,” “Albatross,” “Careering” and others to their post-punk bones before exploding them into a kaleidoscope of dub saturated rhythms and bass-driven grooves.

When speaking about the studio album that inspired this tour, Wobble remarked “It’s as mesmerizing as the original, but with a deeper broader scope. I put my heart and soul into this.” The live performance is no different, offering fans the opportunity to witness the rebirth of a profoundly influential album by one of its architects. Joining Wobble in his reconstructive efforts is Wobble’s recent collaborative partner and another important figure in post-punk, guitarist Jon Klein (of Siouxsie & The Banshees and SinĂ©ad O’Connor). Together this duo sets out to transport audiences on a sonic journey unlike any other, promising an unforgettable experience for both longtime fans and newcomers alike.

Revered PiL Bassist JAH WOBBLE Makes His Long-Awaited Return To The Post-Punk Sound He Helped Invent With New Album A BRIEF HISTORY OF NOW, Shares First Single & Video!

Los Angeles, CA – After an astounding 45-year music career that began as the bassist for John Lydon’s post-Sex Pistols band, Public Image Ltd., earning immense praise for his trailblazing musicianship, through his solo career and collaborations with the likes of Can’s Holger Czukay and U2’s The Edge, not to mention his later work with  Brian Eno, Ministry’s Chris Connelly and Killing Joke’s Geordie Walker, one would think that Jah Wobble would have said all he had to say. Turns out, he was just getting started.

Today, Wobble announces a brand-new solo album, A Brief History Of Now, that finds the eclectic troubadour returning to the post-punk genre that Wobble had a key role in developing both in his brief tenure in PiL and after. Co-written, produced and performed with another post-punk hero, Jon Klein of Siouxsie & The Banshees and Specimen, A Brief History Of Now packs a powerful punch both musically and lyrically as these two veterans deliver an energetic and innovative collection of musical treatises.

For proof, just check out the album’s first single, the pulsating psychedelic-tinged lead off track that interweaves Wobble’s distinctive bass with a quirky syncopated spoken-word vocal and Klein’s razor-sharp guitar. Wobble uses the song to both provoke and process current events and attitudes that continually threaten to suffocate us before we escape. The accompanying music video, done in collaboration with Vicente Cordero of Industrialism Films, vividly brings the song to life and offers a captivating musical catharsis for the post-post-postmodern age.

Or as Wobble himself declares in his inimitable style, “It’s all about the dopamine rush. Assault on the senses. Bang! bang! bang! Rush after rush after rush. But never satisfied. No satisfaction. Never any conclusion. Always moving. Appearances arising. Ephemeral. Lacking substance. But often so beautiful and exciting. Glorious esoterica.”

Former PUBLIC IMAGE LTD Bassist JAH WOBBLE Revisits Old Stomping Ground On New Studio Album METAL BOX - REBUILT IN DUB!

Los Angeles, CA - Public Image Ltd.’s second album, the 1979 masterpiece Metal Box (later re-released as Second Edition), was a lightning rod to the music world in more ways than one. The first pressing of the album was sold in an unadorned, round metal tin (hence, the album title) containing three 45 RPM 12” vinyl. The packaging signaled the intention - this was a band whose artistic aesthetic would not be forced to conform to the traditional commodification of commercialized music. As a result, the album became a hugely influential, landmark release in post-punk surpassing even the band’s incredible debut album. Now, one of the key co-creators of that album, and co-founder of PiL alongside former Sex Pistol John Lydon, has returned to Metal Box, completely reinventing 8 of the album’s songs with sophisticated dub interpretations and mind-blowing production! Wobble is, of course, no stranger to dub rhythms, having drawn influence from both reggae and world music throughout his spectacular 40+ year career. But Metal Box - Rebuilt In Dub seems to have truly caused Wobble to dig deep and bring out his absolute creative best. Speaking of the album, he declares “It’s as mesmerizing as the original, but with a deeper broader scope. I put my heart and soul into this.”

Check out the first single “Poptones” from the album, available now on all streaming platforms: https://orcd.co/jah_wobble_poptones

Metal Box - Rebuilt In Dub also includes two bonus tracks - fresh versions of PiL tracks from their debut album. Pick up your copy on all formats including CD with a deluxe digipak and a gorgeous 2LP gatefold vinyl set in your choice of either BLUE or SILVER vinyl!
