Norwegian Pop Sensation Line Mari Records Debut Album

A highly versatile musician, Line Mari not only sings and writes her own music, she also plays a number of instruments including guitar, piano and harmonica (she is currently also learning to play the fiddle). She has a keen interest in vintage music and vintage guitars and owns several custom made guitars and her own custom-made pedal-board.

Line Mari was born in Tromsø, also living for some time in Svalbard, one of the most Northerly inhabited places in the world. As a child, she grew up regularly witnessing the beauty of the Northern Lights, as well as once having a close encounter with a polar bear whilst at Kindergarten.

Releasing her debut EP Fly High Fly Low in 2014, Line has already gained some recognition in Norway, her EP receiving acclaim from critics including a top score of 6 from Utropia. Her single ‘Why do I Cry’ was even played on national radio.

Having already played a gig in Bedford and recorded in London, the singer is now looking to spread word of her talents to the UK.

Line Mari dreamt of being a musician from birth, dancing in the womb as her mother explains. Although shy at first, by the time she was in her teens Line Mari was writing her own songs and performing. Her shyness has fuelled her songwriting, making her lyrics more personal, emotive and introspective.

Her debut album was released worldwide on Friday 4th November 2016, after being approached by major music producer Rob Cass. He saw her potential and invited her over to the legendary Abbey Road Studios where she began working on her debut album, with the help of cutting edge producer Pearse MacIntyre. Bursting with fresh young vibes ’21 Days’ demonstrates Line Mari’s powerful and distinctive vocals whilst still having a rock infused edge.

Rob Cass has worked with the likes of Robbie Williams, Will Young and Paloma Faith amongst others.

The album cover itself is really special – exclusively for the first edition, a small amount of real gold has been pressed into the 21 Days logo. The portrait of Line Mari on the cover is the work of upcoming German artist, Pixie Cold, who wanted to be involved simply because she loved the music. On the backside of the CD she has painted Line’s guitar – a special Gibson Custom Shop ES-339, named Mari.

Critically acclaimed previous singles ‘Crush’ and ‘Haters’ from the upcoming album were mastered by studio engineer Christian Wright who has worked alongside some of the biggest names in the pop and rock industry including Ed Sheeran, Keane, Eliza Doolittle and Blur.

The 109s, Deliver White-Knuckle 12-Track Debut Album

Hampshire-based four-piece, The 109s, are here to put rock riffs back where they belong: loud and high in the mix, clawing and stomping their way through the speaker cones to grab listeners by the throat and pummel them into submission . . .

The 109s have taken everything good about Zeppelin, Sabbath, Royal Blood, AC/DC, Iron Maiden, MC5, The Stooges, Soundgarden and The Black Keys, and distilled from it a 100-percent-proof moonshine-mash that is all their own - a heady brew that kicks like a mule, burns like a mother, but has everyone asking for seconds . . .

The fantastic power of the band's music is led by vocalist Damian Shelley’s strong but nuanced delivery and impressive vocal harmonies, while lead guitarist, Matty Pritchard's short, high-octane solos reference everyone from Jimmy Page to J. Mascis.

Of course, none of this would be real rock if there wasn't a stunning rhythm section (Pete Smith, bass, and Steve Collings, drums) who deliver the precision-power and flair of legendary pairings such as John Bonham and John Paul Jones, or Keith Moon and John Entwistle.

The band's song arrangements are always original and surprising, wringing every droplet of dynamism and groove from a single riff, before strutting seamlessly through a flurry of exciting changes that are strung together with the delicacy of dewdrops on a cobweb.

High octane blues rock - very much my thing! Now I just need to see you do it live some time!” – Award winning crime novelist, Ian Rankin

A multi-talented artist, lead guitarist, Matty Pritchard, is also an author and member of the UK Crime Writers Association. He has published three novels in the UK to date - Scarecrow, Broken Arrow and Werewolf -  under the name Matthew Pritchard, and was nominated for the CWA's Gold Dagger Award.

The 109s' eponymous debut album is due out October 7th

The Breaking Pattern Reinvent Emo Rock With Incredible New Album "There Are Roadmaps In Our Veins"

The face of the Phoenix emo revival movement’ – The Huffington Post

Taking influences from Real Friends, Man Overboard and The Wonderyears, The band are quite literally breaking the pattern of emo rock by delivering a euphoric and almost ethereal sound through the reverb bathed guitars and heartfelt lyrics.
The album challenges the personal struggle of a failing relationship. The band’s frontman explains: ‘The album is somewhat of a break-up album, chronicling the various stages of a doomed relationship from the moments leading up to the split until the resolution and recovery. I say “somewhat” because it is not a concept album. The songs do not tell one specific story, but are a compilation of personal experience and the stories I’ve witnessed from friends who had their own hearts disintegrated into red dust.
That being said I feel it's a catalyst through which those feeling less than ecstatic can vent and learn from, whilst also revelling in the bands clear flowing wealth of musical knowledge and experience.
My favourite track, "Let Love Go", is a strong opening to the vibe of the album and has an awesome mix of melodic guitar lines supported by complex atmospheric riffs which complement the nostalgic theme perfectly.
Having sold out many shows since their formation, their album is an opportunity to get into the loop if you've been unfortunate enough to miss out on them.

The Fresh And Enlightening Psychedelic Inspired Sound Of Young Malak Is Sure To Make Waves On Te Scene

Watch the video here:

Young Malak's music is an honest rendition of how accurately music expresses an artist's personality and experiences. Reminiscent of the sounds of Tyler the Creator, Earl Sweatshirt, Flatbush Zombies and Joey Badass, The Virginia Beach phenomenon expertly communicates his experiences of self discovery after having a severe phase of writers block and self disbelief. The outpouring of emotions embedded into the mixtape are sure to make you experience thoughts and feelings that you never felt music could evoke inside of you.
Young Malak talks about his lyrics: ‘One point in my life I was lost stuck trying to figure myself out as well as my self-purpose and the more I searched inside myself I began to overtime breakdown my thoughts and feelings to help me remember me. The more you understand your own self the more you will understand this world, and if you can understand this world you realise everything in the universe is one.’

His performance at the Shaggfest of 2015 communicated his message through his performance and we urge you to see him perform live.
Young Malak is a personification of passion, with activities other than music including spinning poi fire, meditating, enjoying nature, reading spiritual books and indulging in the creative benefits of THC from the well known herb oregano.

Newborn Are Getting Down To Earth With 'Gravity' Taken From Self Titled EP - Out 14th July

Newborn's nostalgic yet surprisingly uplifting anthem 'Gravity' features grungy guitars and heartfelt lyrics. With an almost harrowing opening guitar riff, as soon as the vocals come in you are lulled into a hazy state leaving you feeling the raw emotion behind the song without even thinking.

With the mesmerising EP scheduled for release on June the 14th it's a tantalising wait to hear the rest of the tracks. Quoting the frontman Allen 'Music ... It really does heal people.’ so particularly if you are in need of a little boost, watch their social media religiously in order to hear them first.

Role Model Challan Charmichael Presents His Fresh Single 'Step by Step'

"Nottingham's next MC Hammer" - The Nottingham Post

"Step by Step" boasts a catchy and feel good hook supported by a smooth and sleek production. Featuring local children from his church to sing along with him adds the extra freshness, originality and true inspirational nature of Challan's music. Taking influence from artists such as Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder and Whitney Houston "Step by Step" has all the ingredients of a chart topping summer track youd hear whilst basking in the summers glorious sun.
Challan explains the feelings behind music: ‘I love good wholesome music and am very aware of how music can help you to motivate and uplift. Review - Exhilarating Belfast Rock Band 'Irontown Diehards' With Their Self-Titled Album

With all players having played in top rock and metal bands of Northern Ireland they aren't to be taken lightly. Their albums lead track "Fly High" displays their experience and immense ability to utilise their past experience to create a new sound that possibly even has Alter Bridge (one of their influences) running for their money. With a full yet spacious introduction the tracks grows to an uplifting and heavy chorus with a particularly strong vocal line soaring over the top of some fantastic guitar.
With their Victorian-esque outfits, theyre definitely an original band breaking out of the conventional rock/metal aesthetic, perhaps inspiring a new generation of musicians to branch out beyond the current revival of vinyl sales.

The Colossal Heads - 'Mammoths'

Revelling in the heavier side of indie rock, The Colossal Heads are a group on the rise who have been compared to artists such as Queens of the Stone Age, Incubus, Modest Mouse and Nirvana. These are not bands whose names should be taken lightly in terms of comparison – thankfully The Colossal Heads do them justice.

Those bands rose in the 90’s and early 2000’s due to a rock genre that had gone from being anti-establishment to part of the norm. In recent years the cycle has started again, and The Colossal Heads are here to shake things up once more. To offer further proof, check out the album lead track ‘Mammoths’.

The Colossal Heads Release New EP ‘Mammoths’

Engineered by Louis Cressy, the EP (and single) are a timely reminder of the power that rock music can have.
Another vital part of any musical success is a propensity for hard work, an area in which The Colossal Heads excel almost as much as their song writing. In a prime example, they toured from New Orleans to California from May-June 2015, living out of their Toyota and sleeping on floors along the way. This grass roots approach carries over to their methods of promotion as well. Relying on Facebook, local radio and word of mouth, the band has continued to develop and grow their fan base as their music has become increasingly assured.
‘Mammoths’ is the final result of this evolution, an EP which steps outside of the box and shows how complacent rock music has become in recent times.

Japanese Fighting Fish Release New Single

'What a glorious noise.' The Tom Robinson Show, BBC 6 Music
Japanese Fighting Fish, four lads who anchor their boat in London, are bringing fun back to rock with their electrifying new album ‘Swimming with Piranhas’, plunging us knee-deep into ferocious riffs then pulling us out again with soaring vocals from frontman Karlost.
‘Swimming with Piranhas’ doesn’t sound like a great plan for the average diver but Japanese Fighting Fish jump right in and live to tell the tale. This album nibbles away at any possible preconceptions of the band until an epic creature with an unnerving undercurrent is left. The album title comes from the real life wild experiences of Karlost and drummer Sweetman in Ecuador whilst staying with a Quechan tribe when they took a dip in the Amazon River. After their excursion, the boys did a Lep Zep III move and retreated to the countryside to channel all they had learnt from the ‘tribal way of life’ into creating an exhilarating thrill-ride record that bites hard and won’t let you go.
Their latest single from it, ‘For Queen Marilyn’, was written spontaneously after arriving at the recording studio and being asked to ‘just play something’ to check sound levels. An ominous Muse-like riff was quickly followed by crashing drums before the whole thing took off into a grunge explosion. Unwittingly, the Queen was born! After several stages of development, the new track is now available on SoundCloud here -

‘Swimming with Piranhas’ is the band’s third album but the first with Matt McGuinness completing the troop. The album explores new depths with pounding bass lines, incredible drums, and Gareth Mochizuki Ellmer’s pedal board creating the ‘biggest space sounds at just the right time’, according to Karlost, whose own vocal performance is gritty and wild yet captivating throughout.
What do Royal Blood, Savages, and Cage the Elephant all have in common? They were all supported by BBC Introducing! And now Japanese Fighting Fish have joined that stairway there is no doubt they are destined for the heights. One of their next steps will be headlining the venue Milo at the Live at Leeds Festival 2016 and with their sets being renowned for explosive antics and the boys having a habit for ending up accidentally bleeding on stage, this will definitely be a spectacle not be missed.
'For Queen Marilyn' will be available on the 3rd June, followed by the album ‘Swimming with Piranhas’ due for release on the 17th June 2016.

LONDON The Crowndale (formerly The Purple Turtle) 28.5.2016

Electro-pop EP ‘Circles’ - Francesco, Aka 1ofUs

Up-and-coming Italian singer and songwriter, 1ofUs delivers his debut EP, CIRCLES, a stunning electropop record themed around his life’s journey.
Having attempted to pursue a career in music over two decades ago (he was signed to Warner at one point), the artist was forced to abandon his dreams after his project due to ‘reasons not pertaining to the music, regrettably, in the end, never eventuated’.
Pouring his creative energy into a career in Architecture, he opened his own studio in Frankfurt, Germany where he spent the next three years. He then moved back to Northern Italy where he continued to work for the next 20 years projecting buildings and vast urban areas across Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
Listen to 'Home' here:
This long overdue EP sees the artist finally returning to music, reflecting on his experience with a newfound wisdom.
‘This is the origin of the EP title, CIRCLES,’ he explains. ‘Everything in life comes back somehow, like a circle.
No longer young, CIRCLES nonetheless feels surprisingly fresh in sound, sporting some very flashy and modern electronic instrumentation courtesy of producers Andy Whitmore and Matt Knight. Born on the border between Italy and Slovenia, his music also contains a touch of Italian/Balkan influence. The album was recorded and produced in London. Lead single ‘Home’ takes inspiration from the November 2015 Paris bombings, reflecting on the need for home as a place of peace for oneself and for others. It is a topical and highly relatable song that proves Francesco’s musical relevance and his talents as a lyricist.
As he further explains: ‘the song touches on the difficulties of being free, of loving, of being together, and the fact that this hardship must not stop the journey towards our soul.
A music video is in the works scheduled to be finished by mid-April.

Jae Franklin Releases 'Weary'

Soul songstress Jae Franklin is back with her new single release ‘Weary’ in which she paints a picture of our times inspired by recent global and social issues that have fuelled worldwide protests and demonstrations.

Described as a “talented chanteuse and citizen of the world [who] has a way with a musical phrase nearly unmatched by most of her peers” by the award-winning music website Soulbounce, Franklin is a multitalented singer who combines vocal savvy à la Whitney Houston with an activist heart.

As a follow-up to her captivating R’n’B song ‘Higher’, ‘Weary’ is a mystifyingly beautiful examination of the struggles that people go through in our day and age. Written and produced by Kwame Busia, the lyrics read: “Someone told you that you’ve got so much to give but you’re preoccupied with just trying to live.” Touching upon one of the most profound struggles that exist within human nature, ‘Weary’ is also an affirmation of hope which is so convincingly portrayed in Franklin’s vocal interpretation.
Listen here:

Jae’s artistic career goes a long way back to her Grade School days when she and her sister were in a band called Girls Tyme with former classmate Beyonce Knowles and Kelly Rowland before the days of Destiny’s Child.  Born and raised in Houston, Texas, the singer eventually moved to Dubai where she has successfully honed her skills and managed to get noticed by the public eye with media coverage in the United Arab Emirates, the US and the UK.

Having always dreamed of broadening her artistic work and getting into the spheres of political activism, Jae would like to someday be able to become an ambassador for the UN Human Rights Council to raise awareness about refugee crises and social issues. She declares: “I would like to use my music as a platform for change and become a catalyst for change to heal the world and make a difference.”  Being an artist who values the opportunity to “give back” she has worked and performed for a variety of charities in the past. The social commentary in ‘Weary’ is yet another way for her to raise awareness and provoke thought in a world that is in desperate need for global solutions in terms of social justice.

Marcus Nand Album Review

After recording guitar solo for Rod Stewart, Marcus Nand is back with own solo album ‘Time And Tide Wait For No Man’. With sweeping melodies and delicate guitar rhythms this album whisks you along into whichever land Marcus is venturing to this time.

The title track offers Marcus’ heartfelt thoughts and reflections on life, luck and love which, as commented on by Rami Jaffee (Foo Fighters), is performed ‘in an honest way, which is rare these days’.  Marcus brilliantly mixes this in an uplifting way, allowing you to be taken with the melody.

Listening to the album, you can hear Marcus’ mixed influences being drawn upon. The track ‘Everything’ features beautifully intricate flamenco guitar work which fits perfectly with the passionate vocals. The eerie track ‘You Become My World’ reveals another side to Marcus Nand’s eclectic album with Indian influences being prevalent here. In fact, the album gives you an insight into the man behind the music; with travelling, motorcycling and sailing being his passions, the songs definitely create the feeling of enjoying the journey of life.

Overall this album is a heartening, as well as catchy, performance of Marcus’ skills in both songwriting but most strikingly, in his pure talent as an experienced musician.

The album ‘Time And Tide Wait For No Man’ is out on 22nd April 2016

Orca Release New Single ‘Aquarium’

Described as a “cracking band” and praised for their “excellent production values” by music blog Progrockmusictalk, UK-based alt-rockers Orca have proven to be on top of their game. As pioneers and creators of the mysterious domain of ‘space metal’, the five-piece is steadily stepping up to the music industry’s spotlight.

Their fascination with space and discovering the unknown has always been part of their own musical exploration. By fusing melodic experimentation with hard hitting metal riffs, their new single ‘Aquarium’ (taken from the album ‘Universe’) is a muscular track, effervescing with a forthright and speeding energy. As a follow up to the similarly metal infused guitar styles and contemplative vocals of their first single ‘Amber’, this tune is a sensational marvel of progressive rock.

Listen here:

The song came about when singer Chris started exploring the emotions drawn from the cryptic and riddle-like rhythmic arrangement of a demo recording. ‘Aquarium’ is ultimately about desire, beauty, identity, sensuality, and connecting with the power of nature. The video for the single was shot in a real aquarium which the band describes as a “wonderful” and “entrancing” experience. The album is called ‘Universe’ as it was written while the band were travelling separately around the world, with each band member looking out to a different part of the night sky for inspiration.

With influences ranging from Deftones to Tool the band has mastered the techniques of DIY and created a magnificent set of songs with little to no help from other producers. Their music touches upon the deeper questions in life. Orca describes their sound as being about “submission to the awe and power of the world, and the realization and self-actualization levels of awareness and consciousness.” Part of their musical diversity stems from the fact that Orca consists of a colourful mixture of different nationalities. Bassist Matt McGuinness is Irish, guitarist David Vezzoli from Italy, other guitarist Ben Murray-Smith from England but born in Brazil, drummer Kacper "Drum Kid" Stachowiak
from Poland and singer Chris Edwards is British Armenian. Orca’s sound reflects this diversity and has been celebrated by radio stations such as KSCR in Los Angeles and Aaron Phillip’s Amazing Radio Rock Show here in the UK. Musically, they have also come from a variety of backgrounds ranging from psychedelic rock and jazz to heavy metal and synth-pop.

The band has evolved from bassist Matt and guitarist Dave’s previous project called Martian Time Slip which focused more on a traditional darker kind of metal. After the break up of Martian Time Slip the two collaborators embarked upon new endeavours, forming Orca and searching for the perfect vocalist for the band. Chris approached the band with a style that was both unique and enigmatic. They were struck by his powerful voice and his ability to enrich the melodies with passion much like the late Jeff Buckley. Ben joined shortly afterwards while continuing to write songs for famous Vlogger Casey Neistat. The newest addition to the group is drummer Kacper who has had success with his symphonic power metal band Pathfinder.

The single ‘Aquarium’ is out on 4th March from the album Universe out April 1st

Raving Wild Is Set To Release Concept EP ‘Kolmanskop’

“Raving Wild has all the seriousness of good indie folk music but is very pop-alt relevant!”
-Jamsphere-

Raving Wild is set to release contemplative indie EP ‘Kolmanskop’, a cathartic project that deals with life lessons learned from past mistakes.

Having appeared on Tom Robinson’s BBC 6 show and BBC Introducing Three Counties amongst others, Raving Wild is one of the most intriguing and riveting singer songwriters on the indie scene at the moment. Signed to Coffee Jingle Records, the musician has earned praises from media platforms such as The National Student declaring that Raving Wild aka. Graham Iddon is “crafting a sound that is delicate yet powerful, embedding subtle instrumental intricacies within hook-heavy ballads.”  Other people who complimented his music include Liz Mitchell of Boney M.

With a touch of Jeff Buckley and City and Colour, the EP and eponymous single ‘Kolmanskop’ is an ode to an abandoned mining town in the Namib desert which Raving Wild used as a symbol for the EP’s concept “Lessons learned in the desert”, an inspiration that derived from a soul searching mission in which the artist wanted to understand how he could learn from past mistakes and understand the world around him better. The lead single, ‘At The Crossroads’, sets the perfect mood for the life journey that the singer describes in the record.

Check out ‘At The Crossroads’ here:
Having lived in a miner’s town himself during his early childhood years (albeit not in the desert but in the North East of England), Raving Wild has managed to mix concept with personal experience. To make the recording process as authentic and ‘desert-like’ as possible, the singer dehydrated himself 24 hours prior to the making of ‘Kolmanskop’. He also explains: “This is, to my knowledge, the only track in the world where a pickaxe makes part of the percussion.”

Raving Wild has recently had the opportunity of playing at the film set of the latest Star Wars movie at the prestigious Pinewood Studios in London as well as in front of a couple of thousand people at Parklife Festival in Aylesbury last year.
Apart from being a talented songwriter and lyricist, Raving Wild’s interests range from attempting to break the record in the land speed of an office chair or eating a tin of hot dogs in the fastest time possible. He’s managed eight in 16 seconds which means he did not break the record.

We might not read about Raving Wild in the Guinness Book of Records, but it is more than likely that he will gain growing attention for his music in the world’s entertainment sections.

The EP Kolmanskop is out on 28th March 2016
