90’s Rock Band Nuclear Valdez To Release Expanded Double CD of "Present from the Past" April 10

Nuclear Valdez announces the release of a newly remastered and expanded edition of their album Present from the Past on April 10, 2026. Originally released on vinyl in 2017, this enhanced, 25-song follow-up includes 14 new, previously unreleased demos from the Nuclear Valdez archives. They’ve been beautifully remastered to benefit from the CD listening experience.

The Digipak also includes an 8-page booklet featuring photos from the past, and a tribute to their friend and manager, John Tovar, who was instrumental in their signing with Epic and the national success of bands including The Mavericks and Marilyn Manson, among others.

Artist Biography:
Nuclear Valdez is an all-Hispanic band formed in Miami in 1985. Vocalist Fro Sosa is Dominican; bassist Juan Diaz, guitarist Jorge Barcala, and drummer Robert Slade LeMont are Cuban. The band quickly became a prominent force in the local music scene, which garnered them a record deal with Epic. Their manager, John Tovar, had the band back Raul Malo on live shows when he was creating The Mavericks. Fro played the keyboard hook and Jorge played the guitar solo on Exposé’s “Point of No Return” (1987), and Fro also played the keyboard hook on Pet Shop Boys’ “Domino Dancing” (1988).

Nuclear Valdez gained national attention with their 1989 debut album, I Am I. They also got noticed for their performance on MTV Unplugged with The Alarm. Their second release, Dream Another Dream, expanded their audience with the single “Shelter.” Following a hiatus, the band returned in 2002 with their third studio album, In a Minute All Could Change, marking a shift toward a heavier, grunge-influenced sound.  In 2017, Present from the Past arrived with 8 remastered songs on vinyl leading to the complete 25 song “Deluxe” release in 2026.

About “The Truth” by Make Believe Friends (Lyrics by Mindy Milburn)

“The Truth” is about the moment you realize you are enough exactly how you are, and the empowerment that it brings to be able to speak your mind, question the world around you and confront difficult situations.  And in return you want the same from others around you- for them to be honest, upfront, their true-selves.

I don't wanna have to play participate in this game, this charade
but either way there's no escape
I don't wanna have to choose or confuse win or lose
I'm my muse and any offer I can refuse

The idea of being comfortable just being ourselves, unentangled from the pressures of modern society gives the opportunity to be as pure and free as the ocean air. It is The Truth.

About the production:

“The Truth” by Make Believe Friends was written by: (lyrics) Mindy Milburn; (music) Gabe Halcovich & Laura Espinoza, Produced by Greg Karas & Laura Espinoza.

“The Truth” lyrics:

I don't wanna have to rush anymore,
take my time, work my style,
make'em smile like never before
I don't wanna have to fake
double take, imitate
make no mistake that I'm gonna even the score
I don't wanna have to play participate in this game this charade
but either way there's no escape
I don't wanna have to choose or confuse win or lose
I'm my muse and any offer I can refuse

Na na, na na na na
Na na, na na na na

All I ever wanted to feel
a touch a breeze
something that's real
all I ever wanted to see
is the truth being handed back to me

I'm not gonna hold my tongue anymore when someone,
Just for fun makes a mess that can't be undone.
I'm not gonna turn away, make believe it's ok,
I'll tell' em straight, call it out when a spade’s a spade.
I don't want to turn my trust into lust I might bust a fake is fake,
but I'm good at hiding disgust.
I don't wanna make amends play pretend to no end
you're not my friend and you don't care about me in the end.

Na na na na na na
Na na na na na na

All I ever wanted to feel
a touch a breeze
something that's real
all I ever wanted to see
is the truth being handed back to me

Now I know better than ever before,
In life you gotta break down doors
Can't please' em all that's what lessons are for,
Let the truth hurt 'em even more, than your words...

Show me the truth show me the truth?
What is the truth, what is the truth?
Show me the truth....

Orca Release New Single ‘Aquarium’

Described as a “cracking band” and praised for their “excellent production values” by music blog Progrockmusictalk, UK-based alt-rockers Orca have proven to be on top of their game. As pioneers and creators of the mysterious domain of ‘space metal’, the five-piece is steadily stepping up to the music industry’s spotlight.

Their fascination with space and discovering the unknown has always been part of their own musical exploration. By fusing melodic experimentation with hard hitting metal riffs, their new single ‘Aquarium’ (taken from the album ‘Universe’) is a muscular track, effervescing with a forthright and speeding energy. As a follow up to the similarly metal infused guitar styles and contemplative vocals of their first single ‘Amber’, this tune is a sensational marvel of progressive rock.

Listen here:

The song came about when singer Chris started exploring the emotions drawn from the cryptic and riddle-like rhythmic arrangement of a demo recording. ‘Aquarium’ is ultimately about desire, beauty, identity, sensuality, and connecting with the power of nature. The video for the single was shot in a real aquarium which the band describes as a “wonderful” and “entrancing” experience. The album is called ‘Universe’ as it was written while the band were travelling separately around the world, with each band member looking out to a different part of the night sky for inspiration.

With influences ranging from Deftones to Tool the band has mastered the techniques of DIY and created a magnificent set of songs with little to no help from other producers. Their music touches upon the deeper questions in life. Orca describes their sound as being about “submission to the awe and power of the world, and the realization and self-actualization levels of awareness and consciousness.” Part of their musical diversity stems from the fact that Orca consists of a colourful mixture of different nationalities. Bassist Matt McGuinness is Irish, guitarist David Vezzoli from Italy, other guitarist Ben Murray-Smith from England but born in Brazil, drummer Kacper "Drum Kid" Stachowiak
from Poland and singer Chris Edwards is British Armenian. Orca’s sound reflects this diversity and has been celebrated by radio stations such as KSCR in Los Angeles and Aaron Phillip’s Amazing Radio Rock Show here in the UK. Musically, they have also come from a variety of backgrounds ranging from psychedelic rock and jazz to heavy metal and synth-pop.

The band has evolved from bassist Matt and guitarist Dave’s previous project called Martian Time Slip which focused more on a traditional darker kind of metal. After the break up of Martian Time Slip the two collaborators embarked upon new endeavours, forming Orca and searching for the perfect vocalist for the band. Chris approached the band with a style that was both unique and enigmatic. They were struck by his powerful voice and his ability to enrich the melodies with passion much like the late Jeff Buckley. Ben joined shortly afterwards while continuing to write songs for famous Vlogger Casey Neistat. The newest addition to the group is drummer Kacper who has had success with his symphonic power metal band Pathfinder.

The single ‘Aquarium’ is out on 4th March from the album Universe out April 1st
