Los Angeles Hard-Rockers Bulletboys Release New Video "Rollover"

Hollywood, CA - Los Angeles hard-rockers BULLETBOYS have just wrapped up final touches on their brand new music video for the single “Rollover.” Taken from their latest album ELEFANTÈ (June 9th release, Deadline/Cleopatra Records) the song helped drive the album to reach the Top 10 in the Metal radio charts and has been a crowd-pleaser during the band’s summer 2015 tour.

The “Rollover” music video features voluptuous Playboy model Ivy Ferguson and plays off the dichotomous relationship between the artist who’s married to his music while simultaneously trying to keep his best gal happy. The sparks start to fly during the band’s live performance as the music and the tempestuous relationship reaches a fever pitch - all captured brilliantly by Director Diego Negrete.

The BULLETBOYS are founding member Marq Torien (Vocals/Lead Guitar), Nick Rozz (Guitar), Chad MacDonald (Bass) and Shawn Duncan (Drums). Elefante – the band’s first studio album of original material since 2009 - was produced by Ryan Greene (Alice Cooper/Lita Ford/Cheap Trick/Usher) and Marq Torien and engineered by Matt Thorne (Trapt/Disturbed). The album was mastered in Nashville,TN by Anthony Focx (Miley Cyrus/Aerosmith/Santana/Buckcherry).

Deadline Music To Release Anthology By Hard Rock Legends AXE - “Rock 'n' Roll Party In The Streets”!

Los Angeles - Much to the excitement of rock fans worldwide, Deadline Music will be releasing a 2CD blockbuster career retrospective from one of the unsung heroes of classic hard rock who toured with every major metal act from Iron Maiden to KISS to Mötley Crüe, the indomitable AXE! The anthology includes the band's biggest hit single “Rock 'n' Roll Party In The Streets,” plus select cuts from the much sought after first 2 studio albums and much more!

AXE was formed in 1978 from the ashes of a band called Babyface and began recording their first album, “AXE” in 1979 and started a tour that lasted until 1984. Their second album, “Living On The Edge”, followed in 1980. In 1981, AXE changed labels and recorded “Offering” for ATCO Atlantic featuring the hit “Rock and Roll Party In the Streets.” The song reached #59 on the Billboard charts of the most-played-songs in 1982, and became a nationwide rock anthem. After 19 months of touring with the likes of Ozzy Osbourne, Judas Priest, the Scorpions, ZZ Top and Motley Crue, it was time to record the fourth AXE album - “Nemesis”. Continued success meant more touring. Band leader Bobby Barth was seriously injured in a car crash that led to the disbanding AXE and later joining Blackfoot. After his stint with Blackfoot, Barth took his talents to Australia to join Angry Anderson (Rose Tattoo), hitting the Top 5 on the Australian charts.

The reformed 1997 AXE line up featured former Frank Zappa vocalist Bob Harris, Bobby Barth on guitars, Edgar Riley Jr on keyboards and original drummer Teddy Mueller plus bassist Blake Eberhard, and keyboardist Rob Lowe. To his credit, Bob Harris has performed with some of the greatest artists in the music industry. Covering vocals and keys for Frank Zappa, he proved his ability as an outstanding musician and writer. Blake Eberhard is one of Colorado's premier studio and live bassists. He joined AXE after being hired by Barth for several recording sessions, and added a new dimension to the AXE sound. In the interim period between the band's split and the reformation, Edgar Riley Jr had worked with Frank Zappa and had also played with several unidentified bands in the Southern states of America and Teddy Mueller had got involved in the publishing industry.

“AXE has been one of the greatest musical and personal adventures in my life. However, it was always bitter sweet, because the tragic death of Michael Osborne created the space that I later filled. I will always be thankful to my friend Mark Pinske for introducing me to Bobby Barth. From the start he (Bobby) mentored me into the band's style and graciously included me in the writing process, and became one of my dearest friends for life. AXE has always been about the music - not the hype - and I feel honored to be a part of it.” - Bob Harris

A brand new AXE album, “AXE (Twenty Years From Home)” was released in September 1997 featuring re-recorded versions of choice tracks from each of the first four AXE albums, plus two from the recently released V record. For their 2001 album “The Crown” the group inducted new personnel guitarist Danny Masters and drummer Christian Teele. AXE would release a limited edition mini album “Live In America 1981” to commemorate their European 2001 tour dates. In the mid-2000's, AXE reformed again including singer Bob Harris and adding new members, Brad Banhagel, David Landes. The band toured throughout the US and Europe.

Now AXE fans worldwide are rejoicing with the pending release of AXE's “Rock 'n' Roll Party In The Streets – The Best Of”!

Legendary All-Female British Hard Rock Icons GIRLSCHOOL Release Two Vintage Concert Performances!

Los Angeles, CA - From the vault of one of the most respected and groundbreaking British hard rock outfits to emerge from the NWOBHM scene, the legendary Girlschool, comes two never before released concert recordings now ready to be shared with the world courtesy of Deadline Music. Both shows present powerhouse performances by the original, classic Girlschool line-up featuring guitarist/vocalist Kim McAuliffe, bassist Enid Williams, drummer Denise Dufort, and the inimitable lead vocalist/guitarist, the late Kelly Johnson. First up, London 1980, released on CD, demonstrates the awesome power of this band in a live setting before their hometown audience, as they perform cuts from their recently released and soon to be classic debut studio album Demolition including “Emergency” and “Nothing To Lose,” plus their explosive cover of The Gun’s “Race With The Devil!” Then, Glasgow 1982 picks up where the London show left off, featuring high octane performances of tracks from both 1981’s Hit and Run and 1982’s Screaming Blue Murder including “The Hunter,” “Live With Me” and more! These performances eventually lead to the ladies’ first U.S. tour later in 1982 opening for Iron Maiden and Scorpions, and establishing a devout fanbase in the States. This historic performance is available on both CD and in a special limited edition purple vinyl pressing.

Girlschool are still going strong performing and recording with lead guitarist Jackie Chambers (who replaces Kelly Johnson). The band is currently touring North America through mid-June, after which they will embark on a massive European tour with Motörhead and Saxon in November! See www.girlschool.co.uk for details.

Rock Review: Led Zeppelin-Physical Graffiti Deluxe Remaster

Release Date: February 24, 2015
Label: Atlantic Catalog Group

Led Zeppelin is arguably the greatest hard rock group of all-time. It is hard to downplay their influence on the rock and metal genres over the last five decades. Robert Plant (vocals), Jimmy Page (guitars), John Paul Jones (bass, piano), and John Bonham (drums) came together in 1968 and the music world has not been the same since. I once heard someone say that they “don’t trust someone who doesn’t like Led Zeppelin” and I found myself nodding in agreement.

Their legacy is unbreakable and will most likely continue to grow as time goes on. Their mark can be heard all over pop culture. I could list probably a dozen or so recognizable songs and still not get to their third album. It is just the type of iconic music that legends are made of. Physical Graffiti is the band’s sixth album of their nine and their only double album. Released forty years ago, it still sounds just as amazing today as it did when it first came out.

Not only does Physical Graffiti sound fantastic, but it is also musically creative and diverse by featuring hard rock, progressive, acoustic, country, funk, and blues styles. “Custard Pie” is a sizzling hard rock song that really knows how to groove. From the meaty riffs and precise drumming to Plant’s signature soulful vocals, this is one energetic song that leaves a lasting impression. If you are in need of some satisfying music, then “Custard Pie” is just what you need. Staying in the hard rock style, “The Rover” has a slower and heavier feel with a unique riff that makes it memorable.

A blues rock version of the Blind Willie Johnson gospel blues song, “In My Time of Dying” is Zeppelin’s longest studio song and is near dull or wears out its welcome. It really gets jumping about four minutes in when the drums and guitar go wild after a slow build-up. It is that type of song where they are just jamming and clearly enjoying themselves. Once “Houses of the Holy” is heard, it is never unheard. I think that it is one of the most distinctive sounding of all of Led Zeppelin’s songs. The guitar riff is infectious, the bass is gorgeous, and the vocals are just so smooth. One of the definitive songs about giving into temptation, “Trampled Under Foot” is one funky rock jam that is hard not to groove to.

“Kashmir” is without a doubt one of Led Zeppelin’s most iconic and recognizable songs. Its sound, inspired by Indian and Middle Eastern musical styles, is as majestic and as vast as the desert landscape that Plant is singing about with one of the most easily familiar opening riffs in rock. There is an undeniable power and beauty that elevates this song into one of their all-time greats.

The second part of this double album is more musically diverse with progressive, country, and acoustic rock styles making appearances. Veering into progressive rock territory, “In the Light” captivates with Jones’s mesmerizing synthesizer opening, backed by Page getting creative with a violin bow on the guitar. A truly beautiful sounding acoustic song, “Bron-Yr-Aur” is a pleasant and relaxing short instrumental. In a country rock style, “Down by the Seaside” is a dynamic song that keeps the listener on their toes by alternating between soft and hard rock sections, keeping things interesting.

For the most part, “Ten Years Gone” is a pretty mellow song, even when the drums kick in. The guitar really sets the somber tone for this song about a past love. Light and springy from the very beginning, “Night Flight” is nice and compact rock song and “The Wanton Song” dazzles with its forceful and hypnotic riff and funky sound. One of things that just happened, “Boogie with Stu” is rock and roll jam session with their road manager, Ian Stewart, pitching in on piano. It is has a laidback and plucky sound thanks to the acoustic guitar. Another acoustic song, “Black Country Woman” has the distinction of being the only song on the album that was recorded outside with an airplane flying overhead able to be heard at the beginning. The drums are crisp and the vocals are playful. “Sick Again” is a searing hard rock song with Plant’s sultry vocals out in full force and Bonham’s heavy drumming leading the charge. It is brilliant way to end the album.

This deluxe edition also features a third album that contains rough and early versions of some of the songs from Physical Graffiti. “Brandy & Coke” is a rough version of “Trampled Under Foot.” There is an earlier, shorter, and lyric less version of “Sick Again” and rough mixes of “In My Time of Dying” and “Houses of the Holy.”  “Everybody Makes It Through” is an early version of “In the Light” with different lyrics and structure. There is also an alternative mix of “Boogie with Stu” and the rough mix of “Kashmir,” “Driving Through Kashmir.” It is a nice addition, overall. It is interesting to hear some of the songs in the early stages and be able to witness the creative process by comparing them with the final version, and it just goes to show that even the best need more than one take.

Led Zeppelin’s Physical Graffiti (Deluxe CD Edition) is absolutely phenomenal. It is one of the best double albums of all-time and longtime fans should go out and get their hands on it. For people new to Zeppelin, it also makes for a great introduction to their music because of the diverse sounds that are present on the album. I think that Physical Graffiti gets a tad over shadowed by their early releases and should get more recognition for its brilliance from a wider audience. This album makes for a great introduction to their work, because the music’s timeless quality. Physical Graffiti was great decades ago, it is still great today, and will still be great decades on.

Music News: Black Note Graffiti Perform At 2015 SXSW

Ann Arbor, MI-March 9, 2015-Michigan’s own hard rock band Black Note Graffiti will perform two shows right in the middle of 2015 SXSW at the RedGorilla Music Festival in Austin TX. The shows will be on Thursday March 19th 6pm at The Blind Pig and March 20th 6pm at the Dizzy Rooster  in Austin, TX. They will be performing songs from their highly anticipated upcoming sophomore release Volume II.

Black Note Graffiti played festivals last year at the Ann Arbor Summerfest and headlined at the Annual Hash Bash event in their hometown of Ann Arbor. The band has found success by charting on CMJ and landing media deals to air on ESPN, NASCAR, MTV, and DISCOVERY.

The multi-talented leader of the band Kris Keller will also be in the audience representing
Noteborn Music Company and will be scouting for new bands at the festival to sign and license material to TV and Movies. There is a lot of excitement for the band right now and to be able to help other indie bands is a driving force behind what they stand for and represent.

Black Note Graffiti is anxious to give their fans great live performances on one of the world’s biggest stages for indie music. The electricity and energy of introducing some of the new material that will be on the upcoming release is already creating a buzz and there could not be a better showcase to do that in than SXSW.

Keller and the band look forward to seeing some familiar faces, meeting some new ones and creating some more fans along the way. If Volume II picks up where Volume II left off it then it is a guaranteed rollercoaster ride of heavy and eclectic sounds.

Hard Rock Review: Red Hot Rebellion-The Mission

Release Date: February 3, 2015
Label: Solid Arts and Science

With the self-described genre of “Soundtrack To A Bar Fight,” Red Hot Rebellion certainly has the right attitude for playing hard rock music. And it is not all bravado either, because it is hard to overstate the brilliance of their new album, The Mission. Formed in 2010 in Dayton, Ohio, The Mission is Red Hot Rebellion’s second full-length album (which comes with a 64 page comic book). Consisting of Jim Tramontana (bass, leading vocals), Doug Spencer (guitar, backing vocals), and Andris Devine (drums, backing vocals), these guys are at the top of their game of their new, concept album. With a great sense of humor, catchy riffs, and a hard rock sound with plenty of punk and metal influences, The Mission is one of the first great albums of 2015.

“Super Epic Intro” gets The Mission rocking and rolling with the sounds of some blazing guitar work and rhythmic drums. Things definitely get off on the right foot, as this grand opening builds anticipation for the rest of the album. If the intro left any doubt in your mind, then “The Mission” will wipe them all away. It is one fantastic rock song. There is so much power and passion here that I am left thinking that these guys could level walls with their music. With its hellraising attitude, “The Mission” is gets the blood pumping and the heart racing. The music rolls right along with “Alright Alright.” The sound is a bit lighter, a bit catchier with its punk rock influence. Heavier and harder, “Prepare to Be Destroyed” delights with great guitar parts that really shred.

“You Bring the Thunder, I’ll Bring the Lightning” has great manic energy running through it, kick started by its opening riff. The music is just relentless, and backed by the lyrics, the song makes for a great party anthem. “Black Magic Dynamite” is a song that has it all. Everything about it is just on point. The lead and backing vocals just play off each other so well, while the guitar and drums never miss a mark. It is one of the best rock songs that you will hear all year. If you need to hold up a song that showcases the catchy riffs of Red Hot Rebellion, then “Battle Royale with Cheese” is that song. It is another pulse pounding song to start a bar fight to.

Promising that they are “Gonna get blitzed tonight,” “Dirtbags and Halfwits” is a great example of Red Hot Rebellion’s humorous and party sides coming together to make one romping rock song. With its electrifying energy, “The Seething Horde” is a sweet mix of punk and hard rock, with the album’s catchiest chorus that you will just want to belt out. Going into the home stretch, “Hellabyte” and “Victory Is Ours (For Now)” keep things energetic, fresh, and interesting. “Melt the Sky” and “The End (It Begins)” bring the album to a close with two memorable hard rocking tracks, especially the latter with the all the quintessential ingredients that have made this album so fantastic.

Red Hot Rebellion’s The Mission is a marvelous achievement for many reasons. Not only are the performances nothing short of top notch, but also it is a complete album, which seems like something of a rarity these days. There is no filler to found here, making for an album that you will want to listen to from start to finish. I would be very surprised if The Mission is not in my top 10 rock albums at the end of the year. I cannot recommend it enough right now.

Metal Review: Jørn Lande and Trond Holter-Dracula Swing of Death

Release Date: January 27, 2015
Label: Frontiers Records
Jørn Lande is one of hard rock’s most prolific artists. With over thirty albums with varying projects, his voice and range are among the most versatile in the industry. His newest album, Dracula Swing of Death is a journey into the dark and light that haunts men’s souls and the legend behind the conflicted individual we knew as Dracula. Both in stories and in history Dracula was a figure both feared and loved for his fierce determination and vicious cruelty. Join Jørn Lande on vocals, Trond Holter on guitar, Thomas Bekkevold on bass and Christian Svendsen on drums as Jorn brings you Dracula Swing of Death.

If I were going to imagine a rock opera based on the myth and legend of Dracula, I could think of no better voice to go with the hard rock version than Jorn and his band. The gripping vocals and intense musical imagery brings the listener deep into the sometimes misunderstood world of Dracula. If you follow the legend, Dracula was a warrior for Christ until the one person he loved the most was taken from him in an act of betrayal so foul he sold his soul to the devil. His goal? Make every son and daughter of God pay for his misery. Add that to music and you have Dracula Swing of Death.

The album opens up with the historic “Hands of Your God” where the scene is set. Brazen guitar work and raw vocals give voice to the despair and frustration Dracula experiences as his love is taken from him and a new chapter of his undead life is born. Bitter, blood dripping, no holds barred revenge is on the menu and no man, woman or child is exempt from his sights. The sound set is brought to life with the airy crashing of waves and thunder. The clang of bells and an old fashioned guitar sequence lull the listener into the story and all the rage held within. Scrabbling for his existence, Dracula consumes humanity. It is a judgment day filled with Hellfire.

The second piece on the album is one of the more widely known songs. “Walking on Water” sees Dracula embracing his new role as the purveyor of death and immortality. Darkness has taken him. There is no soul left and nothing save for the rage consuming him from within. Wearing the devil’s mark, he promises damnation for all. The grinding vocals give a shiver down the spine as the true face of evil begins to emerge, purely shameless in his glory and grandeur.

As the album progresses, a story is told, ending finally with “Under the Gun.” Doomed by his temptation Dracula despairs of his endless path as he is joined by a female vocalist. Love and blood join as a shadowy romance eternal in darkness push the couple on their jagged path through guitar riffs and a beat that will haunt your dreams.

This album was like watching a movie. All the great elements of the perfect show are all right here. Impassioned characters fighting against their fates, love, darkness and some kick ass music to fall into. If this album were a drink, it would be a salted caramel mocha. Salty and sweet at the same time, with a hidden punch that livens the blood. Jørn Lande and Trond Holter have outdone themselves with this production and any horror lover is going to want to have this in their collection. Dracula fan that I am, I fell in love with the cinematic nature of the vocals and the strong instrumentation behind it. There is a swing in this album to be sure, just watch the turns on the dance floor…you might slip in a pool of blood.

Melodic/Hard Rock Review: Fair Warning-The Box

Release Date: June 24, 2014
Label: Steamhammer

Hard rock is the type of music genre that never goes out of style and good hard rock bands produce some great timeless music.  It is the kind of music that feels right no matter what year is it listened to and always sounds fresh.  Release a song now, twenty years ago, or twenty years from now and it is as hot as ever.

Fair Warning is the type of band that creates this kind of music.  Formed in Germany in 1991, they released their self-titled debut a year later and Rainmaker in 1995.  Their line-up consists of Tommy Heart (vocalist), Ule Ritgen (bass), Helge Engelke (guitar), Andy Malecek (guitar), and Jurgen “C.C.” Buhrens (drums).  The Boxis made up of their next four studio releases and a live album – 1997’s Go!, 2000’s Four, 2006’s Brother’s Keeper, 2009’s Aura, and 1998’s Live and More.  With over five hours of music, The Box will take care of all your hard rock needs.

When it comes to the music of Fair Warning, one listen to “Angels of Heaven” is all that you will need to fall in love with their sound. It is one opener that soars, from the guitar to the vocals, and it is the type of song that sticks in the memory.  The sound is so large and filling that if you do not take a liking to this song, then I do not know what to tell you.  With lighter sound and stellar use of synthesizers, “Save Me” is a melodic rock gem.  It is the type of song that really hits its stride in the chorus and provides a great opportunity to sing along. Just roll up your car windows and belt it out.  “All On Your Own” is reminiscent of 80s hard rock ballads.

If you are having a bad day or are feeling down, then “I’ll Be There” is just the song for the occasion.  The opening chords ooze with positive vibes. The music has a fun, festive sound with good energy and is nothing short of uplifting. Following it up is the haunting, “Man on the Moon.” “Without You” is a rocking love song that is very relatable, maybe too so for some. It does a great job of painting a picture of heartache and longing, and really dazzles with its guitar solo. “Somewhere” is another stirring melodic rock song in the same vein as “I’ll Be There.” “Sailing Home” is an amazing marriage of melodic and hard rock.  It rivals the opener in quality to make the two best songs on the album.

Four, the 2000 follow-up to Go!, is a solid mix of old and new. It is consistent with the sound of their previous release, while injecting new blood in to keep things fresh and lively.  The opener, “Heart on the Run,” is a great example of this with its mesh of hard rock with a melodic sound, keeping things fresh. “Through the Fire” and “Forever” are catchy rock songs with a guitar parts that really shred.  With a slower tempo, “Tell Me I’m Wrong” is one ballad that has a great emotional resonance.

“Dream” is certainly as pleasant sounding as a dream can be, with some wondrous guitar action and vocal harmonies.  “I Fight” is very enjoyable with its powerful vocals, sweet chords, and booming drums, not to mention the rip roaring guitar that completely steals the show.  It is a real gem on this album.  “Eyes of Love” is a typical melodic rock fare that does not stand out too much.  The catchiness of “Find My Way” along with its vocal harmonies and crisp guitars help to make for more of a memorable song than the previous, one that will leave a lasting impression.  “For the Young” really switches it up with its bagpipe opening.  The vocals are front and center, backed by military-esque drumming.  It brings this album to a close in style.

Brother’s Keeper is their first album after getting back together following their split in 2000.  There regrouping is marked by some differences in their sound in the six years since Four.  “Don’t Keep Me Waiting” comes out with more of an edge to it than their usual melodic sound.  The melodic element is still there, of course, but the sound here is definitely heavier. Channeling the Force, “Generation Jedi” has a nice crunchy groove to its sound in keeping with the heavier riffs. “All of My Love” is a love ballad that harkens back to the earlier albums.  I think that it slows down the pacing and disturbs the energy gathered by the first two songs.

“Rainbow Eyes” and “Push Me On” do a lot to bring the rocking energy back to the album, as vocals and music soar alike.  “Wasted Time” is a little too vanilla for my tastes.  “The Cry” and “The Way” are both pretty good songs that mix up the old melodic/hard sound with a new found edginess.  “Tell Me Lies” is loud, fast, and has a nice kick to it to get the juices going.  “In the Dark” is the song the really shows off the edgier, and more hard rock oriented sound on this album.  I think they should have went all out and made a completely hard and heavy album for it to be better and stand out more in their discography.

2009’s Aura is their second album since regrouping and comes out rocking with “Fighting For Your Love.”  It is a nice throw back to their late 90s sound.  “Here Comes The Heartache” is quintessential Fair Warning, soaring vocals, great riffs, and cool harmonies.  Despite being a love song, “Hey Girl” is able to keep a good rock vibe by slowing building up the sound from soft to hard rock.

After a few lackluster songs, “Walking on Smiles” injects some life into this album with its fun atmosphere, positive vibes, and vibrant lyrical imagery, and kicks off a good run of songs that strengthen the latter part of the album such as “It Takes More” and “As Snow White Found Out” with sweet melodies and choruses.   “Station to Station” is a real standout thanks to its memorable baseline.  “Falling Reprise” is a nice and peaceful send-off.

The Boxwould not be complete without their 1998 live album, Live and More.  It features a healthy sampling of songs from their first three albums, Fair Warning, Rainmaker, and Go!. The songs “Angels of Heaven,” “I’ll Be There,” “Man on the Moon,” and “Follow My Heart” represent the Go! era.  They all sound very good compared to the album versions with an almost studio quality in sound. “Don’t Give Up,”, “Desert Song,” “Get A Little Closer,” “Stars and the Moon,” and “Guitar Solo/Burning Heart” give a good overview of Rainmaker, showing off their early 90s sound. There is some really fine album-oriented melodic rock in these songs, and the guitar in “Burning Heart” is just killer. If one thing is clear from Live and More, it is that these guys really know how to put on a show!

If you are looking for a good deal, then Fair Warning’s The Box is the way to go.  With over five hours of quality hard rock that spans roughly two decades of music, it is a must have for fans of the genre.  This is also a chance to get to know a group that might have flown under your radar back then, because they are worth it.

4.5/5 Stars

Hard Rock Review: California Breed

Release Date: May 19, 2014
Label: Frontiers Records

If you are looking for music to rock out to, then look no further, because California Breed has what you need to get going. With a sound that channels the great bands of the 70s, while bringing a 21st century edge too, California Breed is one hot new band that will get fans of the genre talking with delight over their fiery debut release.

Born out of the ashes of the hard rock group Black Country Communion, California Breed consists of Glen Hughes (bass, vocals) of Deep Purple, Andrew Watt (guitar, vocals), and Jason Bonham (drums), who was recently replaced by Joey Castillo due to Bonham’s other commitments. They have come together to make California Breedand it is one unrelenting rock album. They brought their A game on this and it sure does show in the final product.

“The Way” comes out hard and unforgiving, like being run over by a stamped of wild horses. It is an incredible hard rock song that gives a modern take on the hard rock sound from the 70s. It is all attitude and swagger, making it the premier song on the album. “The Way” is the type of song that will come to mind when you think of California Breed.  Keeping the album going strong, “Sweet Tea” strikes the perfect balance in showcasing the trio’s individual strengths and what happens when it comes together for one fierce song. “Chemical Rain” shows off a heavier and slower sound, and the guitars really shred on this one.

The album’s first single, “Midnight Oil,” is a fantastic, catchy rock song. It has that musical quality that just draws the listener in with great riffs, inspiring vocals, and methodical drumming. But the ending really takes this song to the next level. The guitars are crazy and the drumming is insane, as we hear that the apple did not fall from the tree. California Breed show off their softer side on the beautiful “All Falls Down.” It is a song full of passion that hits deeply. The heavy and melodic “The Grey” gets things rocking again. The song moves swiftly along and really explodes when it hits the animated chorus. “Days They Come” is a visceral song with great energy and mesmerizing vocals and “Spit You Out” is a fun, spirited rock song.

Starting off the last part of the album is “Strong.” It is not my favorite song on here, but it has grown on me with repeated listens. It is a fluid and lively song that some will appreciate. “Invisible” sinks its teeth in deep and early and does not let go. The vocals just soar over everything. It is the type of hypnotic song that will have you singing along without even noticing at first. “Scars” opens with a pretty funky baseline and carries a certain bravado in the vocals that gives it an extra edge. Bringing the album to a close is “Breathe.” The music rises and falls at all the right moments and Julian Lennon’s vocals work quite complementary with Hughes’.

When all is said and done, California Breedis kick-ass rock album from this new band. If you are a fan of hard rock, then I would strongly suggest that you go out and pick this one up. From start to finish, it does not disappoint.  California Breed is one band to keep a close eye on in the future.
