Drum Legend Corky Laing Is Back On The Road!

NYC - The legendary drummer, Corky Laing, is back on the road with his first solo project since 1977. “Corky Laing plays Mountain” toured the UK in November 2015. Following an enthusiastic response from the UK audiences, he returns to Europe this spring. First up is a nine-day tour of Germany in February and in May he’ll be back in the UK. Corky is also locking in US dates starting with a package with Kofi Baker’s Cream Experience in Sag Harbor, NY in late February and with further dates for “Corky Laing plays Mountain” being scheduled for late May and early June.

After Mountain stopped touring in 2010, Corky has been busy with his one-man show, “Best Seat in the House” and the critically acclaimed “Playing God: The Rock Opera”. The Rock Opera has been performed in Basel, Switzerland, in Helsinki, Finland and last year it made its American debut with a sold out show at the Kaye Playhouse in the heart of Manhattan. This year the opera returns to Finland where, in addition to shows, it will be filmed for a video release.

Being back on the road with “Corky Laing plays Mountain” is a thrill for Corky. He loves playing the Mountain material the way it was originally written and says that behind the kit, in front of an audience, he feels like he is 18-year-old again. And from what the reviews say, the youthful enthusiasm is thoroughly reflected in the band’s sound and attitude.

Drum Legend Terry Bozzio To Release “Composer Series” 4-CD/DVD!

Los Angeles - Legendary & award winning melodic drummer, Terry Bozzio is releasing worldwide, what he calls a “Life's Work” project of Art & Music on the Japanese label Ward Records in December 2015. Bozzio is embarking on a world tour to promote it starting in Japan and Europe in the fall of 2015 & continuing throughout the US & other territories in 2016. Terry has worked with Frank Zappa, Jeff Beck, Korn, UK, Missing Persons, Mick Jagger, Robbie Robertson, Alan Holdsworth, Tony Levin, Steve Vai, Quincy Jones, Ken Scott, Metropole Orkest, SMAP, Loudness' Munetaka Higuchi & “X” Japan's Hide - as well as Film score composers Basil Poledouris, Mark Isham & Patrick O'Hearn - see more at www.terrybozzio.com - Grammy winner, RockWalk Honoree, Modern Drummer magazine's Hall of Fame Award, Rolling Stone's Top 5 Drummers of All Time!

Says Bozzio, “I've been composing, (not just song writing, like for Missing Persons & Jeff Beck) since the '70s. I compose in all styles (as one might classify them), from classical to ambient, electronic, film-like to fusion/rock or jazz. I have my own character or personality, it's unique. I work with many different processes from writing notes on paper, to recording live, to several different computer software applications I may use, that are suited to the particular result I am trying to achieve. Both Zappa & famed musicologist Nicolas Slonimsky encouraged me to compose & I have had my Chamberworks performed at the Vienna Jazz Festival & in Holland w/Metropol Orkest.”

He continued, “I first got interested in Art & Sketching at the encouragement of renowned artist Don Van Vliet (aka: Captain Beefheart) who I played with on my first Zappa/Mothers of Invention tour in 1975. Don was always carrying markers & paper & it looked like fun, so I bought some myself & started. He was very encouraging. Last year, I released my first project called Rhythm & Sketch in collaboration with the art group Scene Four. It's been successful & inspired me to do more. (available at www.terrybozzioart.com)”

Terry Bozzio fulfilled a major 2 &1/2 month US solo tour in 2014 in which he displayed his art as a stage set while performing melodic, tuned melodies on his strikingly large drum set, to sold out crowds.

“I thought it would be great to share this music which I’ve been working on & keeping to myself for so long. I hope to show a different side of my expression from what people are used to seeing from my solo drumming. And, I wanted to have an abstract painting to represent & be paired with each title to create this hybrid project of music & art,” Bozzio explained.

The “Composer Series” contains 59 individual pieces or movements of compositions with a painting in a booklet for each title, along with detailed liner notes for each piece, explaining his concepts, feelings, process and approach for each. It will be available in a deluxe hard-cover artbook which includes Terry Bozzio’s hand drawn illustrations and commentary for each piece, audio CDs & a solo drum performance Blu-Ray shot in Japan in 2015 (w/bonus footage), 192kHz/24bit Hi-Res audio of the 59 pieces on Blu-ray and a bonus DVD including 60min talk session of Terry Bozzio with Masa Ito. Guitar Virtuoso Micha Schellhaas To Release Full-Length Debut Album Featuring Supertramp's Carl Verheyen and Drum Legend Chad Wackerman

Los Angeles - Much to the excitement of guitarists worldwide, guitar virtuoso Micha Schellhaas will be releasing his full-length debut album “Double Take” on December 1st. The album features Supertramp guitar legend Carl Verheyen and drummer Chad Wakerman, who is best known for his work with Frank Zappa and Allan Holdsworth.

Says Micha, “ 'Double Take', my first full length release, reflects my relationship with the US and my journey to come and in the end live here. After I was already established in Europe with steady gigs and my own recording studio, the artist in me was still not happy and I needed to go and check out the source and birthplaces of the music and 'sound' I was most inspired by: Jazz, Blues and Rock. My first trip was a 3 month driving loop starting and ending in NYC all the way through New Orleans, Austin, LA, San Francisco and back. Songs like 'Travel Song' and 'Texaleans' reflect that time. Later I lived in Austin/Texas for a while and you can hear that 'Stevie Ray' sound in my songs 'Ford F-150’ and ‘Your Turn’ that also features a blazing solo by Carl Verheyen. Now living in LA more fusion influences came back to my writing in compositions like 'Velocity' and '5&6'.”

“Micha Schellhaas has a unique touch on the guitar that sets him apart from everyone playing the instrument today. That feel, in combination with his beautiful composing is what makes him a joy to listen to.” - Carl Verheyen

Micha Schellhaas is an LA-based guitarist living his dream and fulfilling his mission to make music as a solo artist, accompanist and composer. In 2013, he released his first EP, “Wings of Fire”, recorded at the renowned Sunset Studios in Hollywood. “Wings of Fire” was produced by Carl Verheyen (Supertramp) who also performed on the tracks, and featuring several other industry veterans (Chad Wackerman (Frank Zappa), Dave Marotta (Manhattan Transfer, Burt Bacharach), Jim Cox (Mark Knopfler, Robben Ford). The EP is an exciting prelude to the full-length album due for release in 2015.

Heavily influenced by classic rock, blues and jazz, Micha has been playing guitar since he was 9 years old. Born in Germany, his musical career began in Europe where he gained a Master's degree in jazz guitar from the prestigious Dutch ARTEZ conservatory, and produced music from his former recording studio, TRINIX Studio, in the Netherlands. Having performed and toured in numerous European countries, he took on the U.S. for the first time in 2008, to explore the home of original blues and rock 'n' roll music and the main inspiration for his artistic journey. Coast-to-coast travels included an extended stint in Austin, Texas, where he was actively involved in the local jazz and blues scene, and enjoyed the opportunity to perform at the renowned SXSWfestival with his improvised street band, the “Rebel Street Show”. Micha is keeping his bonds with Austin strong, visiting on a regular basis and constantly exchanging with Texan and local Austin artists.

Micha settled in California in 2013, where his musical career has gone from strength to strength, operating from his private recording studio in Venice Beach. With a top selection of classic vintage instruments, amplifiers and state of the art recording equipment, the MichaMusic Studio is a home base for recording guitars on his own projects, collaborations and hired recording work. Micha is recording instruction videos and gear demos from his studio as well, most notable is his recent work for the top class, southern California boutique guitar builder Ian A. Guitars and Electric Alchemist Pickups.

Says Micha, “Carl Verheyen produced the album. He is a guitar legend, and brought all his guitar wisdom and experience with him in the studio. He is also a vintage guitar expert and has countless hours of experience recording great guitar sounds with vintage gear. His own albums set standards in guitar music today.

“Chad Wackerman played the drums. He started his career when he was only 17 years old and played alongside Steve Vai in Frank Zappa's band. He is to this day one of the top drummers in the world. His organic playing is just as much supporting as it is exciting and really defined the sound of this album. Chad caught on the unique details of each tune and groove immediately, and really made everything shine. He was my number one drummer in the world for the record, since I knew he can play a swing, a texas blues, a tune with brushes and a heavy riff odd meter tune all on one record and make it fit together perfectly.

“Jim Cox played Hammond B-3, Grand Piano and Fender Rhodes. He is touring with Mark Knopfler and Robben Ford regularly. Jim has a fantastic way of playing that is colorful and strong, always supporting the song and never in the way of the guitars. He can pick up a solo in any style right away and plays great chords to support the melody. He is one of the finest Organ players around and we made sure we had a B3 at the studio.

“Dave Marotta played bass. He also played on several of Carl's albums and is well known for his work with Gino Vannelli and Burt Bacharach. He, Carl and Chad have been playing together for a long time and it was great to have a well working rhythm section for the recordings right from the start. Dave's super solid playing and quick communication with Chad solidified the vibe of a great band just having fun in the studio and recording a record full of interesting grooves and great arrangements.”

Rock Legends “The RAZ Band” Releases New Album Featuring Badfinger's Joey Molland and Drum Legend Joe Vitale!

Los Angeles - The RAZ Band have been toiling in the rock and roll vineyard for longer than you might think. Dedicated to the coolest place to ever grow up, the release of Madison Park  introduces The RAZ Band to a wider mainstream audience and is their breakout album. Band leader Michael Raz Rescigno says: “I'm excited to get our newest album, 'Madison Park' out. It's a diverse collection of music from the last few years of our lives. With the tremendous production of band members Joey Molland and Joe Vitale, we are looking forward to sharing our music with the world.”

The album is dedicated to the New Jersey town where Raz and his musical partner Hutch grew up. Raz recalls, “Madison Park was a great place to grow up and we have many happy memories from that time of our lives. With that in mind we created an album that when someone hears it for the first time, the music already feels familiar. Songs that make you smile. Music that you'll want to listen to over and over.”

This is the first Raz album created with music legends Joey Molland (Badfinger) & Joe Vitale (Joe Walsh/Crosby, Stills & Nash/The Eagles) as full band members. While they've been recording together for years, this is the first album that was planned to be a RAZ Band album and not a RAZ album, hence, “The RAZ Band”.

The catalyst that led to the Madison Park album was a RAZ show at The Whisky A Go Go in Hollywood. Their guest performers were Joey Molland,(Badfinger), Gary Duncan,(Quicksilver Messenger Service) & Carla Olson, (The Textones). Raz recalls, “Whenever Joey Molland came to LA we would record RAZ songs. This time we recorded Joey's great song, 'Love Me Do' from the amazing Badfinger album 'No Dice'. To add to the fun, Gary Duncan was able to join us for this recording session.

”When Joe Vitale came back to LA, RAZ went into the studio to record. “We recorded a new song that we wrote, '$1.50 For Your Love'. After cutting the back tracks with scratch vocals, Vitale said, 'This song is a hit song, and let me tell you, I know what a hit song is'. And of course he does, he co-wrote 'Rocky Mountain Way' with Joe Walsh.

“A couple days later we went back into the studio with Vitale and recorded another one of our favorite songs, 'Shoot 'Em Up'. This is from Joe Vitale's great album, 'Roller Coaster Weekend'.

“Fast forward a couple of years and we recorded many other songs I had been writing, including a very cool new version of 'Time Marches On' from the album ,'The Best of Los Angeles 1987'. We recorded some oldies that Hutch & I loved as kids. We recorded twenty five songs in all. 'Madison Park' shows many sides of the RAZ musical spectrum and it was made with lots of love and laughs and aha moments.”

“I met the Raz almost 40 years ago and he's been knocking me out ever since, the truth is in the songs, I don't think he ever had an idea outside of that idea, so I started playing on his sessions like a lot of other people, we've done gigs separate and together for all those years and here we are with our first record deal, thanks Gonzo, hello world, will anything ever be the same? sure it will, 'cept you'll have the RAZ band to make sure.” - Joey Molland

“Raz came to some of the Joe Walsh shows and my solo shows I did as far back as the early 70's....we've been friends ever since...both personally and musically! We've recorded a ton of GREAT Raz originals and yes...miracles can happen....in this century....A RECORD DEAL! Well, being a couple of devoted Beatles' fans, we have a similar sense of 'song'....the RAZ catalogue is massive, current and rockin'! They are ALL fun grooves and great lyrics!! It's GREAT to introduce the RAZ band to the world!” - J Vitale

The RAZ Band features Michael Raz Rescigno on vocals & guitar, Jeff Hutch Hutchinson on drums & vocals, Jim Manzo on bass and vocals, Joey Molland on guitar & vocals, and Joe Vitale on drums, keyboards & vocals.

These musicians have played on RAZ's albums, at RAZ shows or Raz has been a part of projects with them: Joey Molland (Badfinger), Joe Vitale ,(Joe Walsh, C,S,N & Y, Frampton, Eagles), Gary Duncan,(Quicksilver Messenger Service), Gilby Clarke (Guns & Roses), Stu Cook (Creedence Clearwater Revival/Revisited), Randy Castillo (Ozzy), Marc Droubey (Survivor), Rick Bozzo (Meatloaf, The Frost, Sabu), Carla Olson (The Textones, Mick Taylor, Gene Clark). Preston Epps (Bongo Rock, Bongos, bongos, bongos), Steve Gunner (Belinda Carlisle, Creedence Clearwater Revisted), Mark Healy (Joey Molland's Badfinger), Randy Anderson (Joey Molland's Badfinger), Joe Vitale Jr (solo artist), Gordon Copeley (Lita Ford Band), Ed Cassidy (Spirit), Buddy Miles, Billy Cox (Hendrix), Barry Goldberg & Harvey Mandel.

RAZ has opened for Badfinger, Missing Persons, Berlin, Marky Ramone, Bill Ward, Iron Butterfly and others. Raz co-wrote songs with Bobby Hayden that appear in the 2015 bio movie, “The Life, Blood & Rhythm of Randy Castillo”.

Raz was musical director for the Universal Wrestling Federation professional wrestling league, and wrote theme songs for the wrestlers and music for the TV show.

Dressed To Kill Drummer Ian Danter To Release Sophomore Album “Second Time Around”

London, UK - Ian Danter is an incredibly talented multi- instrumentalist and songwriter who released his debut album "Prove You Wrong” to great critical acclaim in 2013 – he is also very well known as a sports broadcaster on talkSPORT Radio in the UK. Ian also plays drums with the longest running KISS tribute band Dressed To Kill. His musical influences include Dio, Rush, Foo Fighters, Wildhearts, Cheap Trick, Jellyfish, Pantera, Journey and Aerosmith, to name a few. Now much to the excitement of Ian's fans worldwide, his sophomore album titled “Second Time Around” will be released on Cherry Red Records in September 25, 2015!

“Second Time Around” features 11 brand new songs all written performed and sung by Danter on his own – these were recorded during various sessions in Birmingham in 2014 & 2015 . This album gives Classic Rock a neat, modern twist – great hooks and catchy harmonies allied to strong, punchy performances and thoughtful, witty lyrics throughout covering themes of religion, money, relationships and fame-seeking

Says Ian, “The wonderful thing about this album for me is how truly unexpected it was.

“You see, the huge confidence I gained from my debut album 'Prove You Wrong' suddenly reawakened my songwriting instincts - and here we are 2 years later with all these really really strong new tunes. Not only that, but also this new-found confidence led me to play and sing the whole lot on 'Second Time Around'. I knew I could do everything this time - and I did!

“This, in my opinion, is the album that some of my favourite Classic Rock bands SHOULD be bringing out nowadays rather than the boring, one-paced efforts they're churning out instead. You got riffs, melodies, harmonies and more hooks than a butcher's shop meat rack here! I'm so so proud of it.”

“The eleven songs…are explosive bolts, individual landscapes of colour and they represent a revival of the styles and spirit of classic rock” – Metaltalk.net

Track Listing:
1. IF MY TRUTH IS A LIE
2. MR POISON
3. CHINESE WHISPERS
4. LOVE FATIGUE
5. SECOND TIME AROUND
6. WE BELIEVED
7. IT ALL COMES BACK TO ROCK
8. SIMPLE AS THAT
9. I DIDN’T GET WHERE I AM TODAY
10. I LOVE YOU MORE
11. BETTER OFF OUT OF IT (THAN WORSE OFF DEAD)

Orca – 'Amber' Single Review

Prog outfit Amber are making waves with their new hard hitting single ‘Amber.’ Completely self produced a building introduction which draws you in before the heavy rhythms kick in hard.

The arrangement drops layers of drums, guitar and bass in and out to great effect, tied together by the tight, melodic vocal. This dynamic approach keeps the track fresh throughout, and lays down a marker for the excellent production values you can come to expect from Orca when their album hits.

Orca are a cracking band and we’re excited to see what happens next. Amber is out on September 23rd.

Drum Icon Carmine Appice and 60's Hitmaker Dean Parrish To Release New Digital Only EP “Northern Soul - I'm On My Way”

Los Angeles - Legendary drummer Carmine Appice and New York 60's hitmaker, vocalist Dean Parrish have reunited after 50 years to record a new 7 song EP of 60's soul music, commonly known as Northern Soul music. Aptly titled “Northern Soul - I'm On My Way”, the EP will be released on iTunes in August 2015. The duo first met when in the early 60's they played opposite of Jimi Hendrix, known at the time as Jimmy James. The band, called The BEEETS, played Stax, Motown and Altantic 60's soul. Carmine eventually went on to have major success with the likes of the Vanilla Fudge, Cactus, Beck, Bogert & Appice, Rod Stewart and countless other artists, while Dean pursued a solo career and had a number of hits in the UK and US. He did several Murry The K tours and performed on the Dick Clark show and other well know TV programs at the time such as Zachary Channel 11 NYC, and the Clay Cole show. Dean has performed on the same bill as Mitch Ryder, The Capitals and Lou Christie. He has recorded and toured with the likes of Jorge Santana, Paul Weller, Lord Large and the legendary Bob Marley. Dean even recorded 2 Jams with Jimi Hendrix & Eddie Kramer at Juggy  Murray's  studio NYC 1969 with the band the Rosicrucians aka Steeplechase. In the 2000's Dean was featured in a wedding scene as the Mcee on the hit show the Sopranos.

Says Carmine, “While Dean was doing those Murry the K shows and having hit singles. I was having my career with Vanilla Fudge having hit albums at around the same time....There was always a connection with me and Dean. I hooked him up with my Vanilla Fudge manager Phil Basile, and in turn Phil got two album deals for Dean with band members who were also friends of mine and dean's from 60s....it was after that that Dean cut 'I'm On My Way', which became a big hit ...but over the years me and Dean stayed in contact.”

Then in the early 2000s, Carmine and Dean reconnected again through a mutual friend Randy Pratt, harpist for Cactus and bassist for The Lizards (who have a new CD released) and Rickity. The duo began writing and recording at Randy's studio in New York, which was the start of the “Northern Soul” release. Carmine and Dean had songs they wrote and recorded in the 60's and rehashed them into what's being released today....so this EP was destined to be finished. It features re-recorded versions of the big hit “I'm On My Way”, a karaoke version, a classic mix of the song as it was in 1970's, and a modern version along with new RnB classics such as “Love's Whatcha Cooking Babe”, “Fever” and “Lonely”, all really cool old school RnB, with an old school vibe but recorded with today's sonic sound.

Says Dean, “Singing and playing guitar on this EP with Carmine was a labor of love, a feeling of togetherness that just comes with Northern Soul Music. This movement is still is very much alive today more than ever with a passion a kind of music that takes hold of you.”

Says Carmine, “Some of my favorite music was the 60's RnB and the songs on this EP with Dean singing are exactly that, 60's RNB or today known as Northern Soul. Back in the early 1960's before Vanilla Fudge, I played with Dean in a 7 piece RnB group. Dean was always great at singing this music and I and glad to being playing that music with Dean again. I enjoyed putting this music together with him!”

Keyboard Legend Extraordinaire Patrick Moraz, Former Member of YES and the Moody Blues, To Release New Album “MAP” (Moraz Alban Project) With Outstanding Drummer Greg Alban!

Los Angeles CA- Patrick Moraz and Greg Alban proudly announce the release of their new CD “MAP”.

Says Patrick, “The concept and the meaning of “MAP” is first and foremost the 'MORAZ ALBAN PROJECT'! Some time ago, Greg Alban, a very good friend of mine and a great drummer whom I have known now for more than 30 years asked me if I would like to start composing and arranging some music that he could play the drums on, with me. He wanted to record a whole album together and eventually of course, release it.”

So Moraz began composing and arranging the music for “MAP” in his studio in Florida, the project then moved to California, where it was further developed and recorded. This new music is a collection of instrumental pieces that range in style and spirit of World-Fusion, Rock and Jazz.

Greg Alban, originally from Columbus, Ohio, attended Ohio University and moved to Los Angeles in 1974 to pursue a career in music. Greg has studied with some of the great drummers and teachers such as Richard Wilson, Joe Morello and Joe Porcaro. Patrick Moraz first heard Greg Alban play drums when he was head of his own band ICE. They were performing at the famous and since shuttered Red Onion in Marina Del Rey, CA. Impressed with the playing skills of Alban and fellow band member John Avila, Moraz asked them to perform on his album, “Timecode”. Greg Alban who has worked with such artists such as “The Miracles”, Denny Laine (Wings) and Mike Pinera (Blues Image and Iron Butterfly) explains: “Patrick and I have been very good friends for a long time and I’m still always being surprised by the depth of his knowledge, not just about music but everything! He’s a creative genius and I’m honored to be working with him.”

Swiss born Patrick Moraz, is best known as an official member and keyboardist for the progressive rock bands “Yes” from 1974 to the end of 1976 and “The Moody Blues” from 1978 to 1991. He was classically trained at the Conservatory of Lausanne, but having a keen interest in jazz and world rhythms he decided early on to pursue composing and playing in these genres of music as well. This led to Patrick and his own trio and quartet, opening for major jazz artists and famous rock bands throughout Europe in the mid-sixties. He then formed the group “Mainhorse” with Jean Ristori in 1968 and released a self-titled album on Polydor. Then, after a long tour of Japan and the Far-East as musical director of a Brazilian Ballet Company, he came back and moved to England in the early Seventies to form “Refugee” with Lee Jackson and Brian Davison, both previously of  “The Nice”. They produced one album titled “Refugee” which to date is still revered as one of Prog-Rock’s monumental works known for Moraz’s highly inspired compositions and keyboard virtuosity.

Moraz rose to prominence in 1974 as a new member and keyboardist of “Yes”. He co-composed along with Yes’s” band members and played on the album “Relayer”, which led to what was to be “Yes’s” most successful ever world tour, playing to crowds which numbered from 25,000 to 120,00 at JFK stadium during the bi-centennial year of 1976.  In 1975-1976 all the then- members of “Yes” released solo albums. In the interim Moraz had moved to Brazil and composed the music for the “I” aka “The Story of I” which incorporated 16 Brazilian percussionists, making it an important staple of “world music”. “I” was Moraz’s first solo album and in 1976 it was voted the #1 Album of the Year by “Keyboard Magazine”. After his departure from “Yes” Patrick recorded his second album “Out In The Sun” on the “famous” Charisma Record Label, and moved officially to Brazil.

In the last part of 1977 and the first part of 1978, time was devoted exclusively for composing and recording for the production of his 3rd solo Album, simply titled “Patrick Moraz”, in the company of the percussionists of Rio-de-Janeiro and Djalma Correa, who, several years later, was referred by Patrick to Peter Gabriel for his Album “SO”.

Moving back to Europe via an appearance at the famous “Montreux Jazz Festival” in Switzerland, and upon their request, Patrick began touring with ”The Moody Blues” on their “Octave” tour in 1978, replacing their former keyboardist Mike Pinder. The two world Tours, ending in 1979 proved extremely successful!

In 1980, having played and recorded on the new album “Long Distance Voyager” he was asked to become a member of the band. Subsequently, in 1981, “Long Distance Voyager” reached #1 on the US charts and proved to be one of their highest grossing albums to date. He continued touring and recording with “The Moody Blues” until 1991 and played on the four subsequent albums : “The Present”, “The Other Side of Life”, “Sur la Mer” and partially on “Keys of the Kingdom”. Moraz is also credited as composer and co-writer of the song “The Spirit”, which appeared on the 1986 album “The Other Side of Life”.

During recording and touring breaks with the “Moodies”, Patrick had continued to compose, play and record his solo albums “Future Memories 1” “Future Memories II”, (both “Live on TV”),  “Human Interface”, and “Timecode”. He also collaborated, (in 1979), with the renowned Romanian panpipe flutist, Simeon Stanciu, (a.k.a. Syrinx), for their album “Coexistence”.  From 1983 to 1985, Patrick Moraz and Bill Bruford, former member and drummer for Yes, decide to form a duet and tour under the name “Moraz-Bruford”. They recorded two albums, “Music For Piano and Drums” and “Flags” and managed to do three very successful worldwide Tours.

In 1991 having been with “The Moody Blues” for thirteen years, Moraz embarked on a solo career. To date he has composed and played acoustic piano on three solo CD’s, “Windows of Time”, “Resonance” and “ESP” all of which have been critically acclaimed and extremely well received.

In 1995, exactly 20 years ago, Patrick Moraz performed throughout the USA on his C.H.A.T. tour (Coming Home America Tour). The tour was unique in that it was one of the first, if not the very first to be booked entirely over the Internet. Moraz played solo on acoustic Grand Pianos to audiences that numbered as small as two people to hundreds of people, taking place in eclectic venues which ranged from single homes, to large estates, corporate headquarters, churches, theaters, concert halls and museums. One of the concerts was filmed and recorded for a DVD and CD in Princeton N.J. and is titled “P.M. in Princeton”. The C.H.A.T. tour proved to be a huge success and an experience that Moraz says, “He will always hold very dear to his heart”.

In 2009 he released “Change of Space”, and in 2011 Moraz released the electronic keyboard CD “Moraz Live/Abbey Road”  which features Patrick playing live electronic keyboards as well as a live acoustic piano improvisation. There  was also a piano-compilation CD titled “Pianissimoraz”, featuring a new and unreleased piece : The “one-&-only take” of the instant composition “Pure Love”.

And now much to the excitement of music fans worldwide, Patrick Moraz and Greg Alban are releasing their first album “MAP” in June 2015!

The album features amazing bass player John Avila, former member of “Oingo Bongo”, who also plays bass on “MAP”. The other great players featured on “MAP” are Lenny Castro on percussion, who has worked with such artists as “The Rolling Stones”, “Elton John”, “Eric Clapton” and many others. Renown and awesome bass player, Matt Malley, founder and former member of  “The Counting Crows”, expertly plays Indian Slide Guitar on “MAP’. Swiss virtuoso bass player Patrick Perrier and heavyweight multi-instrumentalist on tenor saxophone Dave VanSuch, both perform on “MAP” as well.

Unreleased Live Album By Jazz Drum Legend Buddy Rich “Birdland” As Seen In Award Winning Film “Whiplash” To Be Released May 26, 2015!

Studio City, CA - Lightyear Entertainment and Lobitos Creek Ranch, in association with Scabeba Entertainment and the Buddy Rich Estate, have announced the release of a new live album featuring Buddy Rich and his Killer Force Band at the peak of their performing years.

This rare, previously unreleased, and all original production was recorded with Buddy’s permission by bandmate Alan Gauvin, who has also now mixed and edited the project together. The album was mastered by Tom Swift, and will be released May 26 through Caroline Distribution, the independent distribution arm of Universal Music Group, on the Lightyear/Lobitos Creek label.

The Birdland album is seen in the Academy Award winning film Whiplash, in the hands of the young star Miles Teller, who plays an extraordinary drummer who idolizes Buddy Rich.

The digital version of Birdland was rush released worldwide on February 24 to coincide with the Oscars airing and is already the most downloaded Buddy Rich album in recent history after just a few weeks.

A vinyl LP of Birdland is scheduled for a June 23rd release.

Lightyear, Lobitos Creek, and Scabeba have previously teamed to release two successful DVDs, The Lost Tapes and The Channel One Suite, and two previous live CDs featuring Buddy and his band: Time Out and No Funny Hats. In addition, in 2014, Lightyear/Lobitos released The Solos, which was comprised purely of Buddy Rich drum solos, and culled from his performances in 1976 and 1977, at the peak of his power and versatility. The album showcases 9 of his premiere solo performances, recorded while on worldwide tour with his band. All of the DVDs and CDs are available through Caroline/UMG.

Birdland is probably the best Buddy Rich album we’ve released,” said Arnie Holland, CEO of Lightyear. “And we are grateful to Whiplash for stimulating so much interest in Buddy and big-band jazz drumming in general.”

Cathy Rich, CEO of Scabeba Entertainment and Buddy’s daughter, who authorized the release, was a consultant on the Whiplash film. She is currently on tour with her Buddy Rich Band.

Distribution of the CD and Vinyl of Birdland in the UK and Europe will be through Wienerworld Ltd. www.wienerworld.com

Drum Legend Billy Cobham To Release Two Live Albums From 1992 Tokyo Concert

Los Angeles, CA – Much to the excitement of drummers and jazz aficionados worldwide, drum legend Billy Cobham will be releasing two live albums on Cleopatra Records. The first is 'Mirror's Image' on February 17 (CD & VINYL), follwed by 'Reflected Journey' on April 28 (CD). The albums are 2 parts of the same show recorded in Tokyo on February 15, 1992

What an amazing career Billy Cobham has had. From his auspicious start in the late '60s touring and recording with the great Miles Davis to his groundbreaking work with John McLaughlin and the Mahavishnu Orchestra in the early '70s, Cobham built a reputation for complex and soulful drumming. But it wasn't until 1973 and the release of his first solo album 'Spectrum' that he took the title of jazz fusion's preeminent drummer with a style and technique all his own, one that has been a major influence on drummers worldwide ever since.

A stream of further albums would follow, both under his own name and in partnership with a host of allies. And each one pushed towards fresh frontiers as Cobham marched on through the 1970s and 1980s. He played with Jack Bruce, Mark-Almond, a revived Mahavishnu, Bob Weir and the Grateful Dead, and was even behind a Dead tribute band, Jazz is Dead, realigning the sound of the Dead for a whole new audience. Cobham's own band, Glass Menagerie, cut two truly luminous albums, and as a new decade, the 1990s, dawned, the drummer was as busy as he had ever been.

In 1992, working under the auspices of UNICEF, Cobham set out for Brazil, where he would be working with autistic outpatients and street children in Santos, a suburb of Sao Paulo. “The street children fell into my realm of operations almost by chance, as it was not part of my original mandate,” he explained. “But due to the unavoidable specter and shadow cast by so many little personalities with big hearts and so much time to ponder life without parental direction, it was inevitable that I would find myself working with them… some of the brightest minds harboring raw talent that I have ever witnessed to date. The shame of it all was that many would never have the opportunity to use their gift.”

A new project came into being, a band in which the voices and talents of the street children would be harnessed alongside the talents of Cobham's latest combo, the visionary trio that he put together with the then all-but unknown Ira Coleman on double bass; and Australian Joe Chindamo on piano. This was the grouping captured together on 1993's so-acclaimed 'Traveler' album. But another song informed by the Brazilian sojourn, “Street Urchin,” found its way onto 1992's 'By Design', and it was with that album fresh on the shelves that the trio set out on tour.

February 1992 saw Cobham, Coleman and Chindamo arrive in Japan, and it was there, in Tokyo on February 15, that they performed the breathtaking show from which these two albums have been drawn. Japanese audiences, says Cobham, are among his favorite in the world, and the feeling was clearly mutual. The audience's enthusiasm never lapses, and he rewarded them with a selection of songs that traveled back across his entire career - “Crescent Sun,” reaching all the way back to 1974's sophomore effort, 'Total Eclipse'; “Shabazz,” from the 1975 album of the same name.

The evening also looked towards the future - “Reflected Journey,” a magnificent piece that would later title one of Chindamo’s own solo albums; “Prime Time,” “Key Jane”…. And all of them reworked and rearranged for the demands of the night, and the skills of the three piece. On record, Cobham habitually introduced fresh players, fresh instrumentation, and allowed their interpretations to flavor the individual compositions. In concert, whole new rearrangements were called for, and it was a mark of the talents with which he surrounded himself that every fresh revision felt somehow definitive; every one opened new doors through which the improvisations could stroll. Tonight in Tokyo, those doors were open as wide as they have ever been.

Cobham remembers the night, hot and tight before one of his favorite audiences in the world. His latest album, 'By Design', was still fresh on the shelves and of course it would dominate the show, the epic “Mirror's Image,” the raucous “Street Urchin” and the playful “Kinky Dee” taking off from the CD for fresh destinations unknown. On record, Ernie Watts' sax was an integral part of the show; on stage, the trio moved in fresh directions and the music soared accordingly.
