Music Icon & Living Legend JUDY COLLINS Earns Grammy Nomination For Her Latest Album SPELLBOUND!

Los Angeles, CA – With a career that spans over an astounding five decades, singer/songwriter Judy Collins continues to reach for new heights with her craft, pushing her renowned talents in new directions, and leaving audiences absolutely spellbound! Just this year she achieved a remarkable first, releasing her first ever album of all original material, with songs that were either written or co-written by herself. And just this week it was announced that this very album, Spellbound, her 55th recording overall, was nominated for a Grammy for Best Folk Album. It’s Collins’s seventh Grammy nomination, and her second in the album category, next to her 2017 duet album with Ari Hest, Silver Skies Blue.

Spellbound was always destined to be something special. Written during the COVID-19 pandemic, the songs draw heavily from Collins’s own life including her childhood (“When I Was A Girl In Colorado”), her early music career at the forefront of the ‘60s folk revolution (“So Alive”) and her most profound social-activist influences (“Thomas Merton”). But it isn’t just the rich autobiographical material that makes Spellbound soar, it is also the production team behind the recording including studio musicians Thad DeBrock, Zev Katz ,and Doug Yowell, as well as co-producer Alan Silverman and Hest, who has the only co-writing credit on the album, for the title track.

It’s a team effort that caps an incredible decade of artistic renaissance for Collins, but at the center of it all remains that unmistakable voice, a voice that has persisted across the years and lost none of its power or beauty. Here is just a sampling of the accolades Spellbound has received from major media publications:

[Collins’s] voice [is] still as pure as mountain air…” – The Guardian

Her voice remains pure and true.” – Mojo

Her voice and her writing have lost none of their chandelier sparkle.” – Uncut

The Grammy nomination for Best Folk album is as richly deserved as the praise the album has received. There’s no better time than now to become captivated, enraptured and mesmerized by this incredible album.

Folk Legend JUDY COLLINS Releases New Single, Announces Collection Of Hand-Picked Favorites!

Includes guests Willie Nelson, Stephen Stills & Joan Baez!

Los Angeles, CA - When you’ve been making music for as long as folk music icon Judy Collins, songs become more than just familiar melodies, they’re treasured memories connecting you to people and places of your past. For her newest collection of recent recordings, White Bird - Anthology Of Favorites, Collins has hand-selected a number of songs that remain dear to her heart so much so that she can still remember exactly where she was the first time she heard them. Take for instance, this story Collins shares about one of her best-known, most beloved songs, “It was 1967 when I received a phone call at three in the morning from Al Cooper, the founder of Blood Sweat & Tears. He said he followed this girl home from a bar where she had told him she was a songwriter. She played him some of her songs and after she played him one particular song, he picked up the phone and called me. He put the girl on the phone and Joni Mitchell sang me her great song ‘Both Sides Now.’”

Or this story about another young songwriter, “In 1966 I was getting ready to make my sixth album, In My Life. Someone sent me a song called ‘I Think It’s Going To Rain Today’ by Randy Newman. I never heard of this guy but loved the song. Randy had not started thinking of himself as a singer-songwriter but after I recorded this song, he put out his own version and became the gold standard. He has told me I started his career but I'm sure he would've done it without me.”

Judy Collins has inspired countless artists, including Rock Hall of Famer Stephen Stills. Not only was she the muse that led Stills to write the Crosby, Stills & Nash classic “Suite: Judy Blue Eyes” but the pair’s musical romance was so strong that it was rekindled decades later in 2015 for a recording of Tom Paxton’s “The Last Thing On My Mind.” Collins shares, “I would run into Tom on the street in Greenwich village in the early ‘60s and he would say I just wrote this song would you like to sing it. It became a favorite song of mine and also of Stephen Stills. So, 40 years after our love affair, and a couple of years before our extraordinary reunion of concerts, Stephen and I recorded the song together. So thanks to Tom Paxton and thanks to you, Stephen. It’s been a long and rewarding love affair and friendship.”

And Collins is still finding new loves and friendships along the way, including a little-known gem from 1969 San Francisco. Hippie rock group It’s A Beautiful Day first recorded the song that gives Collins’s collection its name, “White Bird,” but just as it is with all of the songs Collins touches, she makes it sound like she wrote it or maybe even inspired it.

Audio Fidelity To Release “Colors of the day - The Best of Judy Collins” on Quad 4.0 Hybrid SACD

“This is Collins at her finest.”

Camarillo, CA – Marshall Blonstein's Audio Fidelity will be releasing the ultimate “best of” collection by folk legend Judy Collins on Quad 4.0 Hybrid SACD. Colors of the day - The Best of Judy Collins first arrived in record stores in 1972. The recording features Collins' earliest, most time-honored recordings. The song that propelled the album sales was her number one hit, “Both Sides Now,” an alluring Joni Mitchell tune that dominated the charts for months.

Collins' voice is remarkably beautiful, her phrasing, her ability to enunciate and her vocal range place her in a category by herself. Her amazing talent is on full display in this excellent collection that includes Collins' explorations into folk-pop, country-pop (“Someday Soon,” an Ian Tyson classic), British folk (“Sunny Goodge Street,” The Beatles “In My Life”), and gospel (“Amazing Grace”) that clearly show her eclecticism.

The thoughtfully programmed collection includes the Leonard Cohen classic, “Suzanne.” Cohen's haunting and evocative lyrics are masterfully interpreted by Collins who was an early champion of his amazingly poetic folk songs. Some of the record's finest moments are from her exquisite 1968 album Who Knows Where the Time Goes including that album's title track. Also included are two of her lovely autobiographical compositions, “My Father” and “Albatross.”

“This anthology brings the 'best-of' collection to a new art form.”
