New York based artist JJ Doze is clearly stating he means business in latest offering, ‘Who Am I’. An energetic number with a hard-hitting message, the new single is expressive and speaks upon themes the world needs to hear. Gaining over 100,000 streams on Spotify alone across five releases, JJ continuously turns the heads of Spotify listeners. Sharing his true thoughts, emotions and personal experiences with his fans, JJ is a relatable artist that everyone deserves in their collection.
Speaking about the release, JJ shares, “In the song 'Who Am I', I talk about my ability to fail on knowing my purpose as I try to find the answers I'm seeking for. However, that would be the problem. As I fail to realize that there aren't any answers, I kept ignoring the fact that there are choices. A choice to be patient with myself. A choice to understand myself. A choice to accept myself. But, that was difficult to do as I kept trying to help everyone around me that I completely forgot about myself.10/04/2021

LA-based artist Marlee Quirarte is back with relatable gem 'Know Me'
Los Angeles based vocalist and songwriter Marlee Quirarte is clearly stating she’s one to watch in new single ‘Know Me’. Receiving support from BBC Radio 1Xtra and Voyage LA Magazine, Marlee will certainly be the talk of the town if the soulful new offering is anything to go by. Prominently based around a chilled, ethereal soundscape, ‘Know Me’ builds into an energetic pop ballad with addictive vocals throughout.
Speaking about the new single, Marlee shares, “The concept for this track is very personal. & one many can relate to. The breakdown of the song is that when someone you love and care about deeply for questions who you are at your core, it leaves you feeling rejected, confused, hurt and essentially feeling alienated. Throughout the course of the track you begin to feel and hear the transition of personal acceptance with oneself and the understanding that not everybody understands or cares to understand you- not everyone values who you are and that, ultimately it really doesn’t matter because you do.”
Sentimental and walking upon familiar ground that we’ve all encountered in our life at some point, “Know Me” will speak volumes to people on a self-discovery journey. Adding to how the track was created, Marlee shares, “I wrote the track, I came about the melody in my head & the lyrics and took it to my band. During a rehearsal my band literally just started playing with me and by the end of rehearsal we had developed a song. My guitarist (Lukas Romero) produced a rough mix and that is when I was introduced to John Lucas who then did a final mix and master.
A strong advocate in animal rights, veganism and protecting our planet, Marlee shares, “I believe the consumption of animal products is contributing to a less desirable experience on earth, and abusing/taking innocent lives for my own entertainment or pleasure, is a simple absolute NEVER for me.”
Marlee Quirarte is not only a star on stage but also off too - this is certainly an artist you’d be proud to follow from here on out.

Multi-instrumentalist and Composer Rachel Flowers to Release Third Solo Album “Bigger on the Inside” October 1, 2021
California multi-instrumentalist and composer Rachel Flowers will be releasing her eagerly awaited new solo album on October 1, 2021. Rachel demonstrates with her latest effort that she truly is, as the title suggests, “Bigger on the Inside.” As a composer, Rachel seamlessly weaves together elements of progressive rock, jazz, classical, and pop music with cinematic orchestrations, soaring melodies, and virtuosic playing. Top this off with Rachel's 3 1/2 octave vocal range and her uncanny ability to explore universal themes ranging from love, joy, and hope to depression, bullying, and fear of an uncertain future with sensitivity and optimism, and you have an album that is destined to stand the test of time.
Says Rachel, “I was inspired by composers and bands like Ambrosia, Frank Zappa, and Keith Emerson while writing the songs on ‘Bigger on the Inside.’ Some songs were inspired by or even heard in dreams. Others were improvised during the recording process. Sometimes just hearing a new piano sound can lead to inspiration. Some of my lyrics just come from my imagination and others come from real experience.”
Rachel Flowers is recognized worldwide as a multi-instrumentalist and composer whose music spans multiple genres.
She first gained recognition for her talent as a young child and has been admired and mentored by those at the top of their field including Greg Lake, Keith Emerson, Dweezil Zappa, Conductor Terje Mikkelson, and a series of jazz greats, most notably Herbie Hancock. As a teenager she won numerous awards as a pianist and flutist, and has matured to perform and record on the global stage.
The award winning documentary “Hearing Is Believing” was produced about her unusual life and talents.
Among Rachel’s recording credits are her solo albums “Listen” (2016) and “Going Somewhere” (2018), “Music From the Soundtrack: Hearing is Believing” (2017), collaborations with Michael Sadler of Saga and fusion band Stratospheerius, and appearances on the albums of Telergy and Marcelo Paganini. Rachel is prominently featured on “Keith Emerson - Beyond the Stars,” and the much awaited CD and DVD set, “Fanfare For The Uncommon Man: The Official Keith Emerson Tribute Concert.”
Rachel continues to defy expectations, refusing to be pigeonholed by genre or by instrument. Her classical piano training started when she was only 4 years old. At 9 she discovered jazz and was immediately transfixed by the music of John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, and Ella Fitzgerald. As varied as her musical background had already been, hearing Emerson, Lake & Palmer proved to be a turning point. Rachel was captivated by keyboardist Keith Emerson's innovative integration of classical and jazz elements in a rock setting, and he became a musical role model.
While her favorite instruments continue to be piano and organ, she is also classically trained on the flute and plays the guitar, bass, saxophone, and Chapman Stick.
Says Rachel, “I’ve always wanted to create music that had those big sounds that I love. I was excited to incorporate more of the organ on this album, using my Nord C2D and Electro 4D as well as pipe organ sound libraries to get that iconic tone I was looking for. There is also a lot of electric guitar on this album. I was inspired by Steve Vai, John Mayer, Steven Wilson, and of course Adrian Belew, who was a direct inspiration for the opening track.”
In support of Rachel’s new album release she will be performing at ProgStock on October 1 - 3, 2021 (https://www.progstock.com/2021/). On November 6, 2021 Rachel opens for Asia featuring John Payne at the Union County Performing Arts Center in Rahway, New Jersey, and she is slated to perform at Synthplex, the “All Things Synthesizer” electronic music festival & gear expo, on October 27 - 30, 2022 at the Los Angeles Burbank Airport Convention Center.
Rachel’s future plans include completion of a jazz album, and a jazz/hip-hop fusion album, both started during the pandemic. There are no release dates as yet. Plans to record with a live orchestra are currently in discussion.
In closing Rachel has this to impart to her listeners, “The message I would like my listeners to come away with is that there will be darkness, but you can fly, you can love, you can be loved, and the darkness is only temporary.”

Contemporary Instrumental - Jazz Review: The Christopher James Project-Better Days
Label: Val Gardena Music
Contemporary instrumental and jazz make for a great partnership on the first solo album for Christopher James.
The Christopher James Project is titled for a good reason. Project-based recording usually entails many different artists, and Better Days is precisely that.
It makes for an excellent listen, featuring an All-Star lineup comprised of Ben Butler, Taylor Eigsti, John Patitucci, Nate Smith, David Torn, and Doug Yowell. Those listeners who enjoy instrumental works with a piano leading the way with plenty of rhythm and jazz flavors will find great joy in each track.
Some good examples of all the colors, textures, and melding of sounds are "Pear Blossom' and "Anna," which were consecutive tracks of absolute pleasure. The album's flow is perfect as one track introduces the next. The musicianship is exemplary, as one would expect with this lineup. I always notice an intrinsic rhythm in this type of music, and it is the core that everything else is built upon. This is from my listening perspective, and others will likely hear it differently.
That is the freedom and beauty of a great musical recording, and it allows your mind and spirit to take flight. In that context, "Bated Breath" is very progressive and goes through several changes over 4:03 minutes. I found it breathtaking and could feel the immense energy that went into that track. It provides the excitement and wonder of a great jazz improvisational number.
Christopher James is an accomplished classical pianist taking his skills to different and new heights with help from his friends. I have been listening to some tremendous smooth jazz lately from a station out of Istanbul, Turkey. That has engaged me and put me in the right mood and frame of mind for music like this.
Yes, indeed, let's all hang on to that though now, Better Days are ahead, and performing artists such as Christopher James are leading the way.

Singer/songwriter/pianist Sarah Perrotta unveils her fourth studio album of original art-rock/dream-pop entitled “Blue to Gold” on 7D Media/Third Star Records this October 2021. Produced by world renowned drummer Jerry Marotta (Peter Gabriel, Hall & Oates, Sarah McLachlan). The songs and sonics of “Blue to Gold” were cultivated over the last several years at Dreamland Recording Studio in Hurley, NY by Perrotta and Marotta.
In addition to her lush vocals and melodic piano, Sarah utilizes a variety of keyboards and synths including the Mellotron, Rhodes, Wurlitzer, Moog, and even a toy piano. The steady masterful drumming of Jerry Marotta sets the foundation for Sarah Perrotta’s captivating voice and songwriting.
Lifelong friends and musicians were enlisted to collaborate and enrich the textures of “Blue to Gold” that include Tony Levin (King Crimson, Peter Gabriel), Sara Lee (Gang of Four, The B52s, The League of Gentlemen), Marc Shulman (Suzanne Vega), Bill Dillon (Robbie Robertson), Gerry Leonard (David Bowie), Daniel Weiss (Joan Osbourne) and Rupert Greenall (The Fixx).
The album was mixed by Michael Cozzi and mastered by Chris Athens. While the limited edition, deluxe vinyl package, that will be released in November, was mastered by Chris Muth.
The final result of “Blue to Gold” is an ethereal sound that washes over the listener with swirling waves of dreamlike melodies and harmonies. From start to finish it’s a sonic journey that rewards the listener with a musical depth worthy of repeated listenings.
Sarah explains the meaning behind her new album, “To transform struggle into something of value and beauty. The songs are each like a prayer or meditation for me based on relationships and life experience. Topics include the awe and selflessness of parenthood, transition, embracing our primitive dark side, rising above conflict, not wanting a good thing to end, being open to following dreams, finding unity amid misunderstanding, a tribute to a friend who died suddenly, to live life fully and the cyclical beauty of it all.”
“Blue to Gold” will appeal to listeners of Heather Nova and Happy Rhodes to Sia and Billie Eilish as well as fans of one of rock’s most respected rhythm teams: Tony Levin and Jerry Marotta.
