Pop / Electronica / Dance Stream-Rhealine-Alive

Rhealine are two focused individuals intent on creating stories with their dance/electronica sounds. They like to call it poptronic. I think that is good description.

Rhealine has a dynamic and energized sound served up on this featured track titled "Alive."

The track focuses on lost love over many centuries of passing time and more than just hinting at the possibility of reincarnation. After hearing "Alive" you may find it believable. Give it a listen now!

Electronic Music Ensemble Genre Peak To Release New Album Feat. Collaborations with Steve Jansen, Mick Karn, & Richard Barbieri of Japan, Matt Malley of Counting Crows and Jon Hassell

“Well done team Genre Peak!” - Jon Hassell

London, UK - Genre Peak is Martin Birke (songwriter, electronic-percussionist,vocalist and co-producer) with variety of collaborations from players and singers from all over the world. The new album “Your Sleekest Engine” features collaborations with Steve Jansen (Japan/David Sylvian), Jon Hassell (Brian Eno/Peter Gabriel), Richard Barbieri (Japan/Porcupine Tree), Matt Malley (Counting Crows) with vocals by Martin, Lesley Braden (Fast Arrow) and Charlie Woodward (Falco/Strinx) Manal Deeb (Palestinian artist) additional bass tracks from the late great Mick Karn (Japan/Dalis Car/David Torn). Co-produced by Christopher Scott Cooper and Martin Birke for In Code Music (Publishing). The album will be released on Gonzo Multimedia UK on March 4, 2016.

Says Martin, “The idea of 'Your Sleekest Engine' is what I consider things, ideas, concepts that provide the straightest line between point A to B. A syringe, a gun, a synapse, lightning, morphine, a car, plane, I consider these things 'sleek engines'. I want the music to be designed for elegance but still retain a 'pop' sensibility. 'Your Sleekest Engine' is 3 years of hard work, networking and intense collaboration with some of my idols in music, it's a strong and very dynamic album. I'm quite proud of this cause collaboration is best way to work for me.

“After the ambient album '9 Microspheres' I wanted to get back to where I could collaborate with singers and players. I approached Steve Jansen to remix a track off 'Preternatural' I did with the late Mick Karn, Steve agreed but did much more than a remix, he composed a whole new original song which blew me away. I had Lesley Braden of the Seattle band Fast Arrow write sing over it and I think it's dark and glorious much like most the songs I write. I contacted Jon Hassell who has been a huge influence and is the reason I'm an electronic-percussionist, and we came up with the beautiful instrumental 'Metanoia', I then started writing more songs with singer Charlie Woodward who sounds a bit like Jon Anderson of Yes to me (another favorite band) and we just clicked - thanks to Edo Castro (Pat Metheny Band) for introducing us.”

Last summer Martin recorded a track with Palestinian-American multi media artist Manal Deeb for the Arabesque song “Fix Me Deeper”; a track based on his sympathy for the suffering of the Palestinian people who he finds quite beautiful, brave and artistic. Manal did the spoken Arabic words and Martin sang the lead. He also sang the lead on “Denizen Darklight” which is about crime in America.

Rob Ayling of Gonzo Multimedia introduced Martin to Matt Malley of the Counting Crows and he delivered some great bass on “God Fearing Men” and “American Civil Rage”. Award winning poet Michael Spring spoke his poem “First Born of the New Millennium” Martin wrote the music for that one, and Richard Barbieri did an amazing remix of “Fix Me Deeper” both versions were released as a single last Fall and received great reviews.

Says Martin, “I modeled Genre Peak after Alan Wilder's Recoil and Massive Attack as we as well collaborate with many different artists, do instrumentals and Filmscore, I find this the most exciting way to work, it's always different and working with artists you grew up listening to is quite rewarding for me. I like to call Genre Peak's music 'electronica-organica' as I use electronics with a warm live cinematic sound.”

Martin Birke's original compositions began getting nationally published in 1990. His history as a drummer, keyboardist, programmer, songwriter and vocalist is in a current variety of US & European releases. Starting as a drummer in the late 70s, Martin now specializes as an electronic percussionist, composer and performer. While with the Frank Mark Arts label in Germany during the mid-to-late-90s, Martin was recording and touring in the bands Casualty Park, Sandbox Trio and studio project Birke/Leykam/Panasenko.

Martin Birke is well known for scoring original music for The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, recording and touring internationally with Sandbox Trio, Casualty Park, Genre Peak and with Percy Howard (Meridiem,Bill Laswell) in the duo Hardboiled Wonderland. Genre Peak has released 2 full-length albums “Ends of the Earth” (2006 in-code Music) and “Preternatural” (2008 in-code Music). Starting in 2006 as a trio with Martin Birke on vocals and electronics, Daniel Panasenko on Chapman Stick and Stephen Sullivan on guitar-synths and vocals. The trio performed as an electronic rock band around Northern California cities until the departure of Panasenko in late 2006.

In 2008 Birke returned to the studio with co-producer/engineer/guitarist Christopher Scott Cooper and decided in recruiting a unique cast of vocalists and musicians consisting of Canadian singer Tara C. Taylor, Japan/Dalis Car bassist Mick Karn, bassist Gustaf Fjelstrom, French rock & electronic composer/remixer Tristan X (Kiss & Fly) and Spanish electronic composer/remixer Alex Brujas. The end result was Genre Peak's most vital album to date “Preternatural”. The songs featured heavier electronics, darker moods, and percussion effects offset with Karn and Fjelstrom's fretless bass lines, Taylor's lilting vocals and Cooper's high quality production making an album that was very well received by music media and fans around the world. And now “Your Sleekest Engine” once again showcases Martin's extraordinary compositional and performing skills!

Here's what the press have said about Genre Peak!

“Genre Peak realized a quite diversified piece of music, mixing different vocal, ambient and rhythm elements. There also is a real will and attention to distill great sound treatments. This is modern music covering a wide range of influences.” - SIDE-LINE Magazine

“People with eclectic tastes might really like this album. The synthesizers are great and so is the percussion and singers. This is something to listen to if you want to hear something very different than what is on MTV or the radio.” - The Celebrity

“Genre Peak and its cinematic imagery impeccably reflects the post-postmodern sound of now - detached, cool, and wired.” - West Coast Performer

Martin recently scored music for the upcoming film “Isabela” by Dell Cullum out this summer/fall as well some music for the TV special “Imagination Nature: Galápagos”. Genre Peak will play live around the west cost over the summer and is headlining at SHINE in Sacramento on March 26th. The new live ensemble features singers Charlie Woodward and Tara C. Taylor, Stephen Sullivan on guitar-synths, Paul Relvas on basses, and Martin on electronic-percussion. The band is performing songs from “Preternatural” and “Your Sleekest Engine” and sound great! It's really hard to do Genre Peak live due to the complexities of the original recordings but this time the band is nailing it!

Lastly, Martin has this to impart to his listeners, “Explore new music, commercial radio plays only 2% of all the music released in any year, I spent my youth studying all kinds of known and unknown bands, authors and artists constantly expanding my range of interest. Learning all I could about different styles of art, music and poetry and film. There's so much new music out there and with the internet it's much easier to find. Also I encourage my listeners to be open minded and know sometimes things that don't immediately appeal just might once you understand it and take time to appreciate it.”

Groundbreaking Percussionist From Electronic Pioneers KRAFTWERK Releases Anthology Of Recent Works!

Los Angeles, CA - As the electronic percussionist during Kraftwerk’s peak of creativity, Wolfgang Flür’s place among the pioneers of modern music is assured. Kraftwerk’s computerized rhythms and deceptively simple beats, which produced such classics as “Autobahn,” “Showroom Dummies,” “Trans-Europe Express,” and “The Model,” made them one of the most influential bands of the 20th century. But Flür’s influence extends even beyond his creative musical talents to include his technological gifts as exemplified by his co-inventing of the first ever electronic drum pad, alongside Kraftwerk founder Florian Schneider, which Flür put to good use both in Kraftwerk’s stage show as well as studio recordings. Now, a new collection of Flür’s solo recordings from the last decade is about to see release in the US on Cleopatra Records October 30.

The collection, entitled Eloquence, kicks off with the highly autobiographical track “I Was A Robot,” which hit #6 on the German club charts upon its initial release in 2004. Immediately following is a stunning quasi-sequel to the Kraftwerk classic “The Model” called “Cover Girl.” In contrast to the cold, calculating compositions of his former band, Flür’s solo work is densely layered and veers more toward the warmth of house music with the catchiness of techno. This collection also features a number of prominent guest producers including Nitzer Ebb’s Bon Harris and Meat Beat Manifesto’s Jack Dangers as well as Pizzicato Five vocalist Nomiya Maki. Kraftwerk fans and anyone looking for some superbly crafted electronic music will not want to miss this exciting release.

Track List
1. I Was A Robot

3. On The Beam
4. Blue Spark

Guitar Virtuoso John Jorgenson to Release Limited Edition, 3-CD Box Set Divertuoso

“Brilliant guitarist!” - ELTON JOHN

Los Angeles - Much to the excitement of guitar players and musicians worldwide, John Jorgenson will release Divertuoso, a limited edition, 3-CD box set of three separate, all-new full-length albums featuring three of Jorgenson’s band configurations (gypsy jazz, bluegrass and electric) via Cleopatra Records on October 16, 2015.

Jorgenson's career has been wide-ranging, including playing lead guitar in Elton John's band for seven years; being a co-founder of both the groundbreaking The Hellecasters and The Desert Rose Band; being widely known as the U.S. Ambassador of Gypsy Jazz; and portraying Django Reinhardt in the Hollywood feature film Head In The Clouds. Jorgenson has recorded or toured with the likes of Bonnie Raitt, Luciano Pavarotti, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison, The Byrds, Johnny Cash, Bob Seger, Willie Nelson and many others. Jorgenson is a GRAMMY Award-winner and has won many other awards, including being three-time Academy of Country Music (ACM) Guitarist of the Year.

Totaling 40 tracks in all, Divertuoso showcases Jorgenson's incredible virtuosity as both a musician and songwriter in a variety of styles. Considered a master of the electric and acoustic guitar, and many other instruments, Jorgenson plays 12 instruments on the box set (acoustic guitar, electric guitar, mandolin, bouzouki, clarinet, mandocello, soprano sax, bass, hammond organ, bassoon, keyboards, percussion), as well as vocals, and he composed a majority of the material. This release is a singular accomplishment not only for Jorgenson, but also for the guitar community as a whole. His mastery of these three disparate styles (gypsy jazz, bluegrass and rock) is on full display throughout these recordings.

The three records that are part of Divertuoso are:
John Jorgenson Quintet - Returning
J2B2 (John Jorgenson Bluegrass Band Featuring Herb Pedersen, Jon Randall & Mark Fain) - From The Crow's Nest
John Jorgenson - Gifts From The Flood

“I feel like a huge overview of my musical life is contained in this project,” Jorgenson said. “It incorporates many of the diverse styles that all co-exist in my world. Had I thought very long beforehand, I could have easily gotten overwhelmed at the amount of actual work it would take to create such a large body of work, but it really came together pretty naturally. I'm both relieved and proud to have Divertuoso out in the world.”

Returning is the latest recording by gypsy jazz veterans the John Jorgenson Quintet. Their music, both live and recorded, is a time-and-space transcending experience. All but two of the album's 13 tracks were written by Jorgenson himself. Jorgenson plays acoustic guitar, bouzouki, clarinet, mandolin, mandocello, and soprano sax on the record, and sings on one song. The New York Times has been quoted as saying: “Jorgenson is perhaps the best jazz guitarist alive.”

The 15-track From The Crow's Nest by bluegrass supergroup J2B2 (John Jorgenson Bluegrass Band featuring Herb Pedersen, Jon Randall & Mark Fain) was recorded at Sheryl Crow's home barn studio in Nashville over the course of three days. Pedersen (The Dillards and Old And In The Way) is a legendary vocal arranger and musician who also co-founded The Desert Rose Band with Jorgenson. Hit songwriter Randall, a former member of Emmylou Harris' Nash Ramblers, has toured with Earl Scruggs and Sam Bush. Fain is the long-time bassist for Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder. The record includes lead and harmony vocals by Jorgenson, Randall and Pedersen, and when the three sing together, a magical 60's/70's folk air transforms the typical bluegrass “high lonesome harmonies” into an entirely different dimension. In addition to his vocal work, Jorgenson plays mandolin and acoustic guitar. Songwriters contributing to the record include Jorgenson, Pedersen, Randall (co-writer of the CMA Song of the Year, “Whiskey Lullaby,” with Bill Anderson, included in this set), Rodney Crowell, Guy Clark, JD Souther, Mitchell Jayne and Rodney Dillard (members of The Dillards) and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Member Chris Hillman (The Byrds, The Flying Burrito Brothers).

The third album, Gifts From The Flood, is a John Jorgenson solo electric record. Jorgenson plays everything on it (guitars, bass, Hammond organ, clarinet, bassoon, keyboards, and percussion) with the exception of drums, which are played by Greg Morrow. The concept is an interesting one; Jorgenson had many guitars and amps completely ruined in the Nashville flood of 2010. As the guitars were restored and each one came back to him, new songs seemed to flow out of each one. The gratitude Jorgenson had just for having them back is captured on this record. Each song was named simply after the guitar that was used to create it, and all of the songs were written by Jorgenson alone. With everything from straight-ahead rock, to country-flavored picking (including a special guest appearance by Brad Paisley on one track), to cool surf-flavored grooves, Gifts From The Flood is anything but standard.

Here's what others have said about John Jorgenson:

“John Jorgenson is one of my most favorite players. He is incredibly versatile and his solos are unique and melodic, played with amazing technique. 'My' guitarist's guitarist.” - PETER FRAMPTON

“If there was one guitar player I'd like to be, it would be John Jorgenson.” - BRAD PAISLEY

“John Jorgenson is a true artiste. He's a phenomenal musician.” - CHRIS HILLMAN

“This is a display of virtuosity rarely rendered.” - FRETBOARD JOURNAL

“John Jorgenson is one of the most respected guitarists in the world…” - LOS ANGELES TIMES

“John Jorgenson has a rare kind of genius for an instrumentalist in that he's equally comfortable and capable of playing Buck Owens, Beatles riffs, or jazz leads…” - NO DEPRESSION

Audio Fidelity To Release Tangerine Dream “Thief” Original Motion Picture Soundtrack On 180g Vinyl

“An impressive soundtrack...a signature film score and certainly one of the best electronic scores of the 80's.”

Camarillo, CA – Marshall Blonstein's Audio Fidelity will be releasing Tangerine Dream's Theif OST on 180g vinyl in November 2015. Tangerine Dream is among the most successful electronic groups of all time. The band was chosen by Michael Mann to write and produce the original score for Thief, his 1981 directorial debut. Tangerine Dream added their patented pulses, blips and whooshes to the film's highly stylized visual scenes. Up to this time, no one had ever used a sequencer for a neo-noir film...this score is one of the most unusual of its kind for American cinema.

Rather than a full orchestral score, Tangerine Dream's techno-based score uses synthesizer, percussion and electric guitar making for a fascinating and exciting soundtrack. Tracks like “Dr. Destructo” have a fast-paced percussion tempo. An engaging melody on “Beach Theme” makes it one of the album's most familiar and popular tracks, while “Trap Feeling” has a delicacy that compares favorably to Brian Eno's Music for Films.

There were two versions of the album only the US release included “Confrontation” an actual rock song of guitars, bass and drums written by Craig Safan. Band member, Edgar Froese stated at the time,”It was a pleasure working on the film because the exotic and shifting moods of Thief were perfectly suited to the kind of music we played...and yet we knew the music would also stand on its own.”

The soundtrack and the movie are inseparable. The music and movie have grown beyond cult classic status becoming an important part of the collected works of Tangerine Dream and Mann.

Tracks:
SIDE ONE
1. Beach Theme
2. Dr. Destructo
3. Diamond Diary
4. Burning Bar

SIDE TWO
1. Scrap Yard
2. Trap Feeling
3. Igneous
4. Confrontation

Personnel
Edgar Froese– keyboards, electronic equipment, guitar
Christopher Franke– synthesizers, electronic equipment, electronic percussion
Johannes Schmoelling– keyboards, electronic equipment
Craig Safan– composed and performed “Confrontation”
