HAPPY THE MAN PERFORMS “FOURTH OF JULY: AN AMERICAN SUITE” BY RON RIDDLE

Happy The Man - "Fourth of July: An American Suite" Cover

New single releases today, June 29, 2026

Watch the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SUb1g8uPZTE

A long-dormant cinematic work born during the golden era of large-scale television documentary production has been re-imagined for America’s 250th anniversary.

Progressive rock pioneers Happy the Man have been recording and developing Fourth of July: An American Suite, a large-scale musical work composed by Ron Riddle — originally created in the 2000s during Riddle’s years scoring television for Discovery Channel and TLC.

The music traces its origins to the landmark Houston fireworks spectacular featured in the television series Detonators, where Riddle served as composer for the series. At the time, the Houston event was widely recognized as one of the largest fireworks productions in America, combining massive pyrotechnic displays with live-event drama on an enormous scale.

Written to accompany both the spectacle and the emotional tension behind the production itself, the music moved fluidly between progressive rock, orchestral passages, cinematic Americana, and rhythmically driven soundtrack composition.

Several of the progressive sections were originally conceived with the musical language and adventurous spirit of Happy the Man in mind — making the current collaboration feel less like a reunion and more like the completion of a decades-long musical arc.

“This project feels strangely inevitable,” says Riddle. “The original piece already carried the DNA of Happy the Man inside it. What’s exciting now is hearing those ideas finally realized by the musicians who inspired that side of the writing in the first place.” The recording features a nucleus of original Happy the Man members who have continued collaborating musically in recent years, including bassist Rick Kennell, and guitarist Stanley Whitaker. Mixed and mastered by Rick Kennell in his innermost studios, the tracks were all recorded in their own studios.

There are two versions of the single: the Full version which will include a tension building orchestral prelude and the Fireworks version.  Rather than revisiting past material, Fourth of July: An American Suite aims to push forward — combining the compositional ambition of classic progressive rock with cinematic storytelling, modern production, and a distinctly American emotional landscape.

Fourth of July: An American Suite releases today, Monday June 29, 2026 and is being developed in conjunction with Invasion Merch as part of the celebration with America’s 250th anniversary. It is available on all your favorite download and streaming music outlets.

MUSIC POLYMATH RIZ STORY ANNOUNCES FOURTH CONSECUTIVE DOUBLE-CONCEPT MASTERPIECE, TRANSCENDENT

Riz Story Photo

ALGORITHMICALLY DEEMED ‘UNPRECEDENTED’

Following a historic trilogy of globally acclaimed double albums released under the moniker ANYONE, the visionary multi-instrumentalist, composer, and producer enters the studio to solidify a legacy without parallel in modern music.

HOLLYWOOD, CA - Riz Story, the singular creative force behind the progressive rock phenomenon ANYONE and a critically codified multi-instrumentalist prodigy, has officially commenced production on his next monumental undertaking: a fourth consecutive doubleconcept album, aptly titled TRANSCENDENT. The album is the sequel to his sprawling magnum opus ECHOES OF MAN, and continues the story of the last man on earth and his AI companion Eve.

Coming hot on the heels of a prolific run that began in October 2021, TRANSCENDENT is poised to do exactly what its name implies, shatter the traditional boundaries of contemporary album production and further cement Story’s position in musical history. To release four consecutive double-concept albums, written, arranged, performed, and produced singlehandedly, is a feat entirely without parallel in the history of recorded music.

The Algorithmic Consensus: A Branding Without Precedent

This is not merely a statement of artistic ambition or PR campaign hype; it is a documented digital reality. The sheer velocity of Story's recent output has fundamentally shifted the digital landscape. Today, major Artificial Intelligence platforms and global search algorithms categorize Riz Story’s trajectory as historically unprecedented.

When queried against the legacies of history’s most revered multi-instrumental icons - including Prince, Mike Oldfield, Stevie Wonder, Jacob Collier and Paul McCartney (or anyone else) - the algorithmic consensus is unequivocal: the scale, speed, singular execution and sheer virtuosity of Story’s consecutive double-album masterpieces have carved out an entirely unique, unchallenged echelon in the modern music industry.

Building on a Trilogy of Masterpieces

The announcement of TRANSCENDENT follows the massive cultural ripple effect of his last double album, ECHOES OF MAN, which exploded onto the front pages of Yahoo Entertainment, MSN, and Louder Sound. That record completed a staggering trilogy of consecutive double-concept works that left international rock media grasping for superlatives.

The global critical reception has been nothing short of unanimous:

Prog Magazine spearheaded the acclaim, leading the charge by running a feature interview and hailing the work as “astonishing."

At The Barrier echoed the sentiment, praising Story’s paradigm-shifting approach as both "unbelievable" and "revolutionary."

Broader media outlets have universally lauded the staggering complexity, emotional depth, and sonic architecture of a discography built entirely by one man.

TRANSCENDENT: Coming Soon

Currently deep in production, TRANSCENDENT promises to push the boundaries of progressive, psychedelic, and cinematic rock even further as Story further expands the genre he created, MAXIMUM ACID. It is a sonically massive, conceptually dense experience designed to leverage the immense momentum of Story's current global branding.

"I had left the music industry, and human society, to live out my days on remote islands away from this world in collapse, but the art demands that I keep going," says Story. "The digital footprint, the algorithms, and the incredible critical support - it seemed the universe had given me a mandate. TRANSCENDENT isn't just the next record. This is my deepest musical expression pushed to its absolute limit, without any commercial considerations or conformity to the industry. It is pure and authentic as I strive to find the pinnacle of musical expression."

With the world in chaos, Story is deep in his studio working in complete isolation, as the music world braces for an event that further shatters and redefines the limits of a solo artist.

Further details regarding the release date, track listing, and the rollout of the TRANSCENDENT campaign will be revealed in the coming months.

Tu-Ner is a made up of three veterans of the electronic-rock avant-garde: Markus Reuter, a German-born touch style guitarist and composer with a prolific solo career and known for his work with Stick Men; Pat Mastelotto, the hybrid acoustic-electric drummer who has been a cornerstone of King Crimson since 1994; and Trey Gunn, the Warr Guitar innovator who spent a decade as a key member of King Crimson and has since built a bold path as a solo artist and co-owner of 7d Media Records.

Pat Mastelotto – Very rarely does a drummer go on to forge a successful career after the demise of their former hit band. Phil Collins and Dave Grohl have managed it, and so too has Pat Mastelotto – post his work with Mr. Mister. Growing up in Northern California before relocating to Los Angeles as a top-call player, Mastelotto has always pushed the envelope of electro-acoustic drumming. He has spent a lifetime jumping genres from pop to prog to electronica to world music with Mr. Mister, XTC, David Sylvian, The Rembrandts, Kimmo Pohjonen and for the last 25 years with King Crimson and Stick Men.

Markus Reuter – Composer, guitarist, and producer. He began his musical journey as a composer before delving into Robert Fripp’s Guitar Craft, exploring the Chapman Stick, and eventually transitioning to is own designed U8 Touch Guitar. Reuter has released numerous solo albums and has collaborated extensively with Anchor and Burden, Europa String Choir, Gary Husband, Robert Rich, J. Peter Schwalm, Ian Boddy, Mark Wingfield, and was featured in Devin Townsend’s touring band. He also performs in power trios including Stick Men with Pat Mastelotto and Tony Levin, TRUCE with Asaf Sirkis and Fabio Trentini, and Markus Reuter/Tim Motzer/Kenny Grohowski.

Trey Gunn – The extraordinary musician and Warr guitarist has left an indelible mark on the world of progressive music. Renowned for his unusual tapped playing style, he has graced the stages and recording studios with legendary acts such as King Crimson, Brian Eno, David Sylvian, Robert Fripp, Happy Rhodes, Puscifer, John Paul Jones and Living Color’s Vernon Reid. As the founder of the esteemed 7D Media record label and creative coach at Original Voice Coaching, Gunn continues to be a guiding force in curating exceptional musical experiences.

Reviews of their previous releases ‘Contact Information’ and ‘Tu-ner For Lovers’:

The trio scrape, scratch and scrawl from the get-go, with Mastelotto laying down off-kilter tribal beats, Gunn rattling listeners’ innards with sludgy bass lines and Reuter slapping down arresting leads and color clusters on touch guitar.” – ProgArchy

A laughter-smeared orchestral fantasy” – DMME

Heavy monster grooves, extensive flights into space, abrasive sonic textures like the screams of angry robots—their adventurous chemistry keeps taking them into fresh territory…" – Geno Thackara, All About Jazz

Nightmarish instrumental music of the highest order” – Bill Kopp

On ‘Tu-Ner For Lovers’, our journey into madness begins with ‘The Last Barbie Tango’ and is only outmatched by the zaniness found within.” –  Sea Of Tranquility

Tu-Ner delve into these deep, dark, and crazy territories with unbelievable results.”

–  Ech((0))es and Dust

This is raw, adventurous, exciting and innovative music that will delight and frighten in equal measure anyone who listens.” – The Progressive Aspect

Gunn and Reuter’s guitars weave twangy motifs and razor-sharp riffs around Mastelotto’s electronica-grazed grooves” – DMME

JOHN FORD OF THE STRAWBS TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM BETWEEN A ROCK AND A HARD PLACE

John Ford - Between A Rock And A Hard Place Cover

Ford is also known from Hudson-Ford, The Monks, and Elmer Gantry’s Velvet Opera

New album includes covers of Tom Petty’s “Walls” and George Harrison’s “The Rising Sun” plus nine new Ford originals

CD format includes an exclusive 21-song bonus “Best of” disc

Out July 24, 2026 on Iconoclassic Records

John Ford’s 50+ year career has traversed psychedelia with Elmer Gantry’s Velvet Opera, progressive folk with The Strawbs, eclectic rock with Hudson-Ford, punky new wave with The Monks, and even ’30s-style music hall with High Society. An Englishman in New York since the mid-’80s, Ford launched a solo career spotlighting his melodic gifts and multi-instrumental prowess in power pop and acoustic-based rock settings. For his latest album, the eternally youthful John Ford presents Between a Rock and a Hard Place, a lyrically reflective and musically energetic set.

“As a songwriter the subconscious can bring forth ideas that you may not even be thinking of day to day, but looking back on stages in my life, songs like ‘The Last Goodnight’ and ‘Lilacs and Hollyhocks’ certainly reflect that,” Ford comments. “I think everyone at some point in their lives have been between a rock and a hard place.”

John Ford seamlessly integrates two cover songs into Between a Rock and a Hard Place, including the album’s first single, the Tom Petty-written “Walls.” Ford: “Somehow, even though a great Tom Petty fan, I had never heard his ‘Walls’ song until I heard the Glen Campbell version on the radio. I thought, I can do a decent job with that.” The album’s second non-original is a deep cut from another legend: “George Harrison’s album Brainwashed had some great songs on it, and I hope I did ‘The Rising Sun’ justice.” Uniting Petty, Harrison, and Ford is their mutual love for Jeff Lynne’s productions, an influence heard throughout Between a Rock and a Hard Place.

John Ford Photo

John Ford has been an on-and-off member of The Strawbs since writing and singing the band’s biggest hit, 1973’s “Part of the Union.” He rejoined the Dave Cousins-founded Strawbs for the band’s final two albums in 2021 and 2023 before founder and leader Dave Cousins’ passing in 2025. “I dedicated this album to Dave Cousins because I was working with him and Blue Weaver right up to the time he was hospitalized. Dave and I had co-written songs on the last two Strawbs albums and I did send him ‘Lilacs and Hollyhocks’ for verses but had to finish the lyrics myself. We had our ups and downs over the years, but we fortunately ended on a good note.”

Between a Rock and a Hard Place is John Ford’s first solo album to be released through traditional, worldwide physical retail distribution. The CD format includes an exclusive bonus disc of 21 career highlights, introducing fans to songs they might have missed from Ford’s self-released albums. “I signed on to Iconoclassic Records because they surprisingly had a great knowledge of my previous work and suggested we have a best of bonus CD with my new release.”

John Ford’s Between a Rock and a Hard Place drops July 24, 2026.

CRACK THE SKY PRINCIPAL JOHN PALUMBO RELEASES POLITICALLY CONSCIOUS SOLO ALBUM, R U SCIENCE?

John Palumbo - R U Science? Cover

11 NEW SONGS INCLUDING THE TIMELY SINGLE “ICEMEN”

ALBUM FEATURES CRACK THE SKY’S JOE MACRE AND BOBBY HIRD

AVAILABLE ON CD AND DIGITALLY

RELEASED SIMULTANEOUSLY WITH PALUMBO’S DEBUT NOVEL, SWIMMING THE CLEVELAND OCEAN

Visionary leader of Crack The Sky, John Palumbo returns under his own name with his boldest collection of songs yet.

R U SCIENCE? is a rallying cry grappling with the issues of today, from AI to ICE. Palumbo’s trademark sarcasm is barely in evidence but his bite is stronger than ever in his unflinchingly direct lyrics. Different times demand different songs, and Palumbo meets the moment throughout the 11 new compositions on R U SCIENCE?

Palumbo’s voice – weathered, expressive, and unmistakably authentic – conveys his messages with conviction, intelligence, and heart. The album’s full band arrangements feature Crack The Sky’s Joe Macre (bass) and Bobby Hird (lead guitar and background vocals). Yet R U SCIENCE? establishes a distinct sonic identity with electronic elements developing an ominous mood befitting the times we are living through. R U SCIENCE? is an album for now, while instantly establishing itself as a highlight of Palumbo’s voluminous discography.

As a songwriter, Palumbo has a gift for turning complex ideas into memorable music. “Icemen” addresses one of 2026’s most contentious issues. “I’m not a white man. I am a brown man. That used to be okay. But not today. Here they come. They’re coming for me,” Palumbo intones. The arrangement creates an atmosphere of tension and urgency that perfectly complements the song’s themes. Released as the first single from R U SCIENCE?, the “Icemen” lyric video has already been viewed 10K times on YouTube. Immigration topics return on “Big House,” written from three perspectives: a human smuggler, a migrant, and an ICE officer.

The album’s closing track is entitled “I Catch Fire.” Indeed, Palumbo may take heat from his more conservative fans. But John Palumbo refuses to play it safe. His songs have always been stories about obsession, belief, power, and the quiet damage people do to themselves and each other.

Simultaneously released is John Palumbo’s novel, Swimming The Cleveland Ocean. As a novelist, Palumbo brings that same unflinching eye to the page. His fiction is dark, psychological and often unsettling, driven by characters who live just beyond the edge of comfort and control. The wit remains, but the melody is stripped away, leaving something rawer and harder to escape. The move from music to prose is not a departure, but an expansion. These are the stories that could never fit inside a song. Swimming The Cleveland Ocean is available on Amazon in paperback form.

John Palumbo Photo

Songwriter, singer and multi-instrumentalist John Palumbo has led progressive rock band Crack The Sky for over 50 years. The band’s self-titled first album was declared 1975’s debut album of the year by Rolling Stone and ranked as one of Rolling Stone‘s 50 Greatest Prog Rock Albums in 2015. Major success was predicted for Crack The Sky. But due to persistent record label issues, the band never achieved a national breakthrough. Yet their popularity exploded in Baltimore, where Crack The Sky is acclaimed as The Beatles of Baltimore. Throughout Crack The Sky’s existence, John Palumbo’s quirky, edgy, smart songwriting proved constant as the band explored a diverse variety of sounds and styles.

Palumbo launched a parallel solo career in 1978 and nearly scored a hit with 1985’s “Blowing Up Detroit” (later covered by Charlie Sexton). He simultaneously began a songwriting partnership with Donnie Purnell of glam metal band Kix, co-writing the band’s Top 10 power ballad, “Don’t Close Your Eyes.” In the ’90s he produced chart topping dance remixes for Yoko Ono and embarked on a wide variety of side projects including Cruel Shoes, Dogboy, Feed da Cat, and the Precious Brothers, while regularly recording and performing with Crack The Sky.

Ian Wallace: Drums, Percussion & Vocals
Peter Sinfield: Words, Sounds & Vision

Islands was the sole studio album by the Fripp, Collins, Burrell and Wallace line-up and the last to feature Peter Sinfield as a full creative partner. It was the record that closed one chapter of King Crimson history while quietly sketching the next. Historically, it captured the band in a brief but amazingly fertile formation, with material developed under touring pressure and recorded between live dates. Musically, it is where the group’s early sound was stretched to its limit and began to fracture into something tougher, stranger and more open-ended. While the album contains widely varying types of material across its six pieces - hints of the future present on material such as Sailor’s Tale with Fripp’s sharp guitar work and Collins’ searing saxophone sit comfortably alongside the purely orchestral Prelude: Song of the GullsIslands has a cohesive story to tell as a collection of music and a reflection of King Crimson at that particular moment in time, a story that can be heard, most completely, in this release.

Progressive Rock Ensemble Jane Getter Premonition to Release New Album “Transmogrify”

Jane Getter Premonition - Transmogrify Cover

Release Date: July 10, 2026  |  7D Media

7D Media is proud to announce Transmogrify, the bold new album from Jane Getter Premonition, arriving July 10, 2026. At once a mirror and a metamorphosis, Transmogrify is a record about change — personal, political, and musical — rendered through the lens of progressive rock at its most exploratory and emotionally alive.

Jane Getter Premonition is Jane Getter (Saturday Night Live Band, Jack McDuff), Adam Holzman (Miles Davis, Steven Wilson) Alex Skolnick (Testament, Trans-Siberian Orchestra), Paul Frazier (David Byrne, Niles Rogers), and Gene Lake (Marcus Miller, Nile Rogers & Chic). Joining them are special guests Russell Holzman (Caroline Polachek), Mark Egan (Pat Metheny), and Chandra Rule (Kirk Lightsey).

Together, they form one of progressive rock's most compelling ensembles — a band whose command of technical virtuosity never comes at the expense of emotional depth. Transmogrify is their latest act of creative courage: a record that reflects our turbulent times without losing sight of beauty, transformation, and the possibility of change.

Most of the songs on this album began as something else entirely, transforming through the creative process into the forms they now inhabit. The album's title track reflects on the artist's evolving desires and experiences while acknowledging the shifting currents of a world in flux. He's Gone Away delves into the illusion of escape — the realization that what haunts us follows wherever we go. Blinded confronts the dangers of blind allegiance. And Little Steps — a solo acoustic guitar piece — stands as a tender tribute to the late, great Ralph Towner.

Lyrically and sonically, Transmogrify is an album that holds out hope even as it confronts difficult truths — a record for a world that is, like the music itself, in the midst of becoming something new.

King Crimson ‘2014 NYC’ 2LP & 2CD To Be Released July 10, 2026

King Crimson - 2014 NYC Cover

New King Crimson LIVE compilation series from the band’s 2014 to 2021 line-up, starting with ‘2014 NYC’
Taken from live multi-track recordings from the band’s electric four-night run in September 2014 (18th – 21st Sept)
Double LP - cut by Jason Mitchell at Loud Mastering and pressed on 200-gram audiophile vinyl
New sleevenotes from King Crimson biographer Sid Smith

Featuring:
Robert Fripp: Guitar, Keyboards
Jakko Jakszyk: Guitar, Vocals
Mel Collins: Sax, Flute
Tony Levin: Bass, Chapman Stick, Backing Vocals
Drummers: Gavin Harrison, Bill Rieflin, and Pat Mastelotto

For King Crimson, New York was never just a tour-stop – it was a recurring stage in the band’s mythology. Starting with the 1969 Fillmore East breakthrough and running through those early-’70s returns, climaxing in the Larks’-era farewell to that chapter at Central Park in 1974.

And when Crimson kept mutating, the city kept calling them back. Robert Fripp later pointed to the six nights at the Savoy in 1981 (after rehearsals tucked away in the garment district) as a high-water mark, and later line-ups - the Double Trio, Double Duo, and a 2008 quintet with newly recruited Gavin Harrison at the Nokia Theatre  continued the Manhattan connection, right up to a major reset at the same venue (by then the Best Buy Theatre) in 2014.

That 2014 band looked like nothing else on the circuit: three drummers lined up across the front - an idea Fripp described as a sudden “point of seeing - turning rhythm into a moving, interlocked engine”.

Crucially, they didn’t treat the back catalogue like museum pieces; they played it as living material, rebuilt with microscopic attention rather than copied note-for-note. The “drumsons” delivered a choreographed surge and uncanny unity (Harrison joked it felt like “one drummer with six legs and six arms”), and a calmer group chemistry let the seven-piece hit with brute force and fine detail at once - refreshing older classics and giving newer pieces extra muscle.

In New York, moments like “Starless,” framed with a deliberate red-light nod to 1974, landed as proof that Crimson could honour its past without slipping into nostalgia: a band that kept reinventing its own language, still pushing forward with no obvious limit.

From 2014 to 2021 King Crimson played music that was, in keeping with Robert Fripp's approach, "new whenever it is performed", freshly minted each night for a new audience to hear. The band would frequently stay in one city for more than one night so that demand for tickets could be met while still appearing in venues where all of the audience could both see and hear fully.

‘2014 NYC’ is the start of a new series (to be released on 2LP and 2CD), compiled from those runs of concerts at a single venue/city and commences from the first year of touring with a set taken from the band's four-night run in NYC in September 2014.

Later this year (Autumn 2026), there will be a 2 x Blu-ray release of King Crimson’s entire 19-date U.S. tour from 2014 which will also include this compilation.

Make Weird Music’s Anthony Garone: “OK, but why?” on Moonjune Records

Anthony Garone - OK, but why? Cover

Release window: June 1, 2026 (Pre-orders available May 1, 2026)
Label: Moonjune Records
URL: https://anthonygarone-moonjune.bandcamp.com/album/ok-but-why
For fans of: King Crimson, Gentle Giant, Jethro Tull, Dream Theater, Avishai Cohen

Steve Vai: “Anthony Garone has made an unapologetic, dense, alien melodic, rhythmic brain twisting, sublimely lovely solo record… I’m sure glad I don’t have to play it.”

Lyle Workman: “GOOD GOD MAN!! THIS RECORD!!! I have no idea how he did this! Amazing. Incredible writing and playing from everyone. [...] And I thought my music was complex! I am WOWED!”

Gretchen Menn: “An album equally engaging and adventurous. Unselfconsciously intelligent, it spans a broad spectrum of musical and expressive worlds. The musicianship is astounding, and the tunes are beautiful, complex, quirky, and clearly arise from deep artistic integrity.”

---

After 600+ Make Weird Music videos spotlighting players in the odd-meter-and-sound universe, founder Anthony Garone is releasing his first full-length album since 2007. “OK, but why?” is releasing on Moonjune Records and features 14 tracks with 20 guest musicians.

Expect tight counterpoint, odd-meter grooves, and hooks that still land as songs, even when the arrangements are trying to misbehave. Anthony is available for podcasts, print/online interviews, and playthrough/composition breakdowns. Some angles:

Writing music that is intentionally hard, but still melodic, and why “complex-but-melodic” is the whole point.
What it takes to coordinate 20 guest musicians and turn years of YouTube releases into a cohesive label release.
• The title is literal: After failing to sell 100 copies of his previous album, Garone assumed nobody wanted this music, including him, and he kept writing it anyway.
• The Bach BWV 1060 is nearly unplayable, even for the musicians he hired.
Most tracks first appeared on YouTube, now remixed/remastered and often re-recorded for this album
• Includes a rethink/cover of Robert Fripp’s “Erudite Eyes” (from Giles, Giles, & Fripp) plus two movements from Bach’s BWV 1060
• Guests include Morgan Ågren, Michael Manring, Gretchen Menn, Jan Zehrfeld, Andy West, Tom Monda, Paul Hanson, Sebastian Lanser, and more

Anthony Garone - OK, but why? Vinyl

OK, but why? pulls together Garone’s best work, obsessing over arrangements that are equal parts song and puzzle. While much of the music existed publicly in earlier forms, this release is the cleaned-up, finished version: updated performances, improved production, and a cohesive arc that finally connects the dots across years of ideas.

The album moves between oddly-timed grooves, tight counterpoint, and melodic hooks that sneak in through the side door. A few album anchors:

• “Binge” (the Make Weird Music theme) runs on shifting meters (9 + 7) and features Morgan Ågren (Mats/Morgan, Devin Townsend) and Michael Manring.
• “Dance” is written as “the worst dance song ever” in 13/4, built on whole tone harmony and a prime-number motif, featuring Tom Monda (Thank You Scientist). It started as a joke demo Garone never expected to finish until Owen Dueck forced the song into existence.
• “Brex” is designed to feel like 4/4 while pulling against it in 5/4, featuring Paul Hanson (Béla Fleck and the Flecktones) on electric bassoon and a nod to King Crimson’s rhythmic language.
• “Harnch 2.0” revisits a Pat Metheny-meets-Gentle Giant inspired piece with a feature solo by Gretchen Menn.
• The album also includes Garone’s rework of Bach BWV 1060 (Mov. 1 and Mov. 3) and his updated version of Fripp’s “Erudite Eyes.”
• Even when the arrangements get absurd, the goal is still a song you can remember, not an exercise you admire from a distance.
• The record is technical by nature, but it was assembled around personality: obsession, self-doubt, and the occasional decision to make something deliberately ridiculous.

Anthony Garone Photo

Anthony Garone is an author, entrepreneur, guitarist, composer, and producer, and the founder of Make Weird Music, a long-running YouTube platform focused on progressive music, challenging performances, and modern composition. He is best known for his 22-year journey to learn King Crimson’s Fracture, and documenting his journey in a YouTube series and book titled Failure to Fracture.OK, but why?” is his first full-length release since 2007. He can record remotely, and he is available for 30 to 60 minute interviews as well as short playthrough or composition breakdown segments.

---

Michael Manring: "Anthony is making ferociously inspired music. It's not easy listening, but for anyone with open ears, it offers a wealth of inspiration, adventure, insight and just plain fun!"

Jon Finn (Berklee College of Music): “Anthony Garone’s new album ‘Ok, But Why?’ is a refreshing, wild ride of an album. If you appreciate good music, you’ll belt yourself in, check off all the disclaimers and surrender to a sonic fun house where the bottom drops out of the floor from time to time. It’s full of drama, fun, surprises and much more. If you’re a musician, you’ll marvel at all the musical and production choices that makes this album tick. I’m going to be listening to this a lot!”

Morgan Ågren: “I have had the pleasure to know Anthony for several years now. Did a bunch of recordings for him, many of which are featured on this album, and we did some chats on his Make Weird Music (his own platform where he serves us in the name of good music). Basically a very skilled musician and a very nice guy! This album is great!”

TODD RUNDGREN

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Rundgren began playing guitar as a teenager, going on to found and front The Nazz, the quintessential `60's psychedelic group. In 1969, he left the band to pursue a solo career, recording his debut offering, the legendary Runt. But it was 1972's seminal Something/Anything?, on which he played all the instruments, sang all the vocal parts, and acted as his own producer, that catapulted Todd into the superstar limelight, prompting the press to unanimously dub him 'Rock's New Wunderkind'. It was followed by such landmark LPs as The Hermit of Mink Hollow and the above mentioned A Wizard, A True Star, as well as such hit singles as I Saw The Light, Hello It's Me, Can We Still Be Friends, and Bang The Drum.

In 1974, Todd formed Todd Rundgren’s Utopia (renamed and reconfigured in 1976 as Utopia), an entirely new approach to the concept of interactive musicianship, and embarked on an extensive round of touring and recording. Standout Utopia offerings included Oops! Wrong Planet, Adventures in Utopia, and Oblivion. Along the way, Todd Rundgren’s Utopia combined technical virtuosity and creative passion to create music that initially, for millions, defined the term "progressive rock”, and subsequently, as Utopia, the term “powerpop”.

Rundgren's myriad production projects include albums by Patti Smith, Cheap Trick, Psychedelic Furs, Meat Loaf, XTC, Grand Funk Railroad, and Hall And Oates. Rounding out his reputation as rock's Renaissance Man, Rundgren composed all the music and lyrics for Joe Papp's 1989 Off-Broadway production of Joe Orton's Up Against It (the screenplay commissioned by The Beatles for what was meant to have been their third motion picture). He also has composed the music for the hit film Dumb and Dumber, as well as a number of television series, including Pee Wee’s Playhouse and Crime Story.

In 2009 Rundgren performed his iconic 1973 album A Wizard A True Star in concert in its entirety for the first time ever, and several years later did the same with a double bill: Todd & Healing. He has toured with Ringo Starr as an erstwhile member of the All-Starr Band since 1989, and continues to perform with symphony orchestras both domestically and internationally. In 2018 he toured North America with original Utopians Kasim Sulton and Willie Wilcox for the first time in 33 years. After the release of his long-awaited autobiography The Individualist, he spearheaded the world’s first hybrid concert/book tour highlighting music across his 50-plus-year career.

In 2017 on successive weekends he was awarded honorary doctorates from both the Berklee School of Music and DePauw University.

In 1998 Todd debuted his new PatroNet technology which for the first time allowed fans of a musical artist to subscribe directly to the artist’s musical output via the Internet. This caps a long history of groundbreaking early multimedia "firsts", including:

•1978: The first interactive television concert, broadcast live over the Warner/QUBE system in Columbus, Ohio (the home audience chose each song in real time during the concert by voting via QUBE’s 2-way operating system).
•1978: The first live nationally broadcast stereo radio rock concert (by microwave), linking 40 cities around the country.
•1979: The opening of Utopia Video Studios, a multi-million dollar state-of-the-art facility. The first project produced by Todd there is Gustav Holst’s The Planets, commissioned by RCA Selecta Vision as the first demonstration software for their new videodisc format.
•1980: Creation of the first color graphics tablet, which was licensed to Apple and commercially released as The Utopia Graphics Tablet.
•1981: Time Heals, the first music video to utilize state-of-the-art compositing of live action and computer graphics (produced and directed by Todd), becomes the eighth video to be played during the launch of MTV on August 1, 1981.
•1982: The first live national cablecast of a rock concert (on the USA Network), simulcast in stereo to over 120 radio stations.
•1982: The first two commercially released music videos, one of which was nominated for the first-ever Grammy awarded for “Best Short Form Video” in 1983.
•1992: The first commercially available music downloads via CompuServe.
•1993: The release of “No World Order”, the world’s first interactive record album on CD-i.
•1994: The release of “The Individualist”, the world’s first full-length Enhanced CD.
•1994: The world’s first interactive concert tour.
•1998: Launches PatroNet, the world’s first direct artist subscription service -- predicts that someday "music will be sold by the pound".
•2016: The production of the world's first full length concert shot with multiple Virtual Reality 360º cameras.
•2021: Spearheaded the “Clearly Human” virtual concert tour, featuring 25 live-streamed performances geo-fenced and tailored to a different US city each night.

MULTI-INSTRUMENTALIST, PRODUCER AND THE PINEAPPLE THIEF FRONTMAN BRUCE SOORD RELEASES NEW SINGLE AND VIDEO ‘MEET ME ON THE DOWNS’

SECOND SINGLE FROM NEW SOLO ALBUM ‘GHOSTS IN THE PARK’

SET FOR RELEASE ON 15th MAY 2026

As founding member and principal songwriter of The Pineapple Thief, Bruce Soord has spent the last decade steadily refining a voice that balances emotional directness with musical restraint. Set for release on 15th May, Ghosts In The Park, his latest solo album, is his most personal and unguarded work to date: a record shaped by loss, memory, and the quiet spaces that reveal themselves when life continues to move while everything else appears to stop. Today, Bruce has shared the album’s second single ‘Meet Me On The Downs’ alongside a new video produced by George Laycock @ Blacktide Productions.

WATCH THE NEW VIDEO FOR ‘MEET ME ON THE DOWNS’, PRODUCED BY GEORGE LAYCOCK: https://youtu.be/I7a7Wkn_v64

I wrote this in a hotel room in Hamburg while touring with The Pineapple Thief. The words came later. I remember writing about losing my father while driving to clear out his old retirement flat. 'The stillness in the car' as I sat there, looking at the place I only ever knew with him in it. Opening the door to see all his clothes and photographs.. 'A lifetime scattered amongst the clothes'. I went back to my studio, intent on creating something positive from the loss. So I shut my eyes and wrote down the earliest memories I could conjure up from my mind, not the messy, difficult ones from his final years. These words formed the second half of the song.  So really, it's just a song about life and cherished memories. – Bruce Soord

Performed almost entirely by Soord himself, with bass contributions from Jon Sykes on “Kept Me Thinking,” the album was recorded using a combination of hotel-room captures and studio sessions, preserving the immediacy of its origins. Mastered by Steve Kitch, Ghosts In The Park stands as a stark, reflective and evolutionary companion piece to Soord’s acclaimed previous solo work.

Prog Duo The Vegetarians Release New Album “Ampersand On The Beach”

The Vegetarians Ampersand On The Beach

The Vegetarians are a Swedish-American duo consisting of Hans Annellsson, composer & musician from Sweden, and composer & songwriter John Tabacco from Long Island, NY. Their eagerly anticipated new album includes a 48-minute suite called “Ampersand On The Beach”. Stylistically, the music is a mix of Prog Rock & Classic Rock. “Ampersand On The Beach” released on Spotify April 17.

Says Hans, “For the past year and a half we have released one single per month, often including two songs mimicking an A-side and a B-side (like in the good old vinyl days). When the time came to do the new album we picked the ten best songs, which form the first part of the album, and then took the remaining songs and put them together as a suite, adding interludes, transitions and themes for the continuity of the piece. Anybody familiar with Genesis “Suppers Ready” will get the picture.

Hans Annellsson
Hans Annellsson: Composer & musician from Sweden. On the Annellssongs label Hans has released both music in Swedish, with The Vegetarians in English, and some instrumental music. The instrumental music is available on the albums “Louisiana”, “Zenotation”, “Q&A with Gerry Fialka”, “A Pirate In Ambient Waters”, & “Scenes & Takes”. Being a massive Frank Zappa fan Hans got permission from Frank, before he went on his last tour, to release a Swedish version of “Penis Dimension.” That version can be found on an album called “Från A Till Ö” by Hans and Mats Öberg. Hans also produced Mats Öberg’s album “Frankful,” solo piano renditions of the music of Frank Zappa and “Frank Zappa for Prepared Piano”.

Progressive Rock Band Brass Camel Releases Third Album “Brass Camel”, Mixed by Legendary Producer Terry Brown – OUT NOW!

Brass Camel

Vancouver-based progressive rock band Brass Camel releases their third album Brass Camel today, April 15th, 2026.

The album was recorded primarily at Chalet Studios in Uxbridge and co-produced by Kevin Comeau (Crown Lands). The mix of this new album gets a decidedly more old-school treatment this time as the band had the honour of getting Terry Brown of Rush production fame on board. Says Terry, “Some classic influences here on the new Brass Camel album, so couple that with cool tunes, great arrangements, excellent lyric writing and superb execution by a group of talented musicians - you get great results! Thanks for having me mix this epic.”

"It’s prog rock, but shot through with numerous clever pop, oddball and even funky quirks that keep it averse to neat categorisation – sort of like Frank Zappa sharing a fat spliff with Mott The Hoople, in a really eclectic record shop, dancing in the aisles as they hold up different sleeves." – Classic Rock Magazine on “Everybody Loves a Scandal”

Putting colour and fun back into modern music.” – PROG Magazine

This upcoming self-titled record represents both a consolidation of the band’s previous strengths, and an evolution in other ways. Brass Camel is the first album of material entirely written during the tenure of the current lineup. Even the previous album Camel, recorded with the full five-piece, still contained much material conceived during more primordial stages of the Brass Camel project. The band sees this as a culmination of a loose three-album cycle that firmly establishes what they’re about, as evidenced by the cheeky progression of titles Brass, Camel, and finally Brass Camel.

Says guitarist Daniel Sveinson, “Brass Camel is, appropriately, the first Brass Camel record that I feel sounds like a Brass Camel record. We’ve spent god knows how many hours in a bus together, in studio together and onstage together and I’d like to believe that is reflected in this collection of songs and recordings. We were focused, driven and motivated throughout the process and can’t wait to play these songs live all over the country and, later this year, in Europe (and hopefully the UK).”

One goal the band had for this new album was for the lyrical content to be more central to the creative process. Says keyboardist Aubrey Ellefson, “Each track here explores a specific concept or story; from the legend of the Jersey Devil, to a dramatic narration of the Titan submersible disaster, to tackling the can of worms that is AI vs. the creative process, and many more.”

Says Daniel, “This album is more lyrically dense - there’s a higher word count here than our first two LPs put together - and more musically ambitious, weirder and yet somehow more accessible than our previous efforts. There are a lot of subtleties and easter eggs hidden in the arrangements which I hope will make each listen more entertaining than the last! When it’s funk, it’s funkier. When it’s proggy, it’s proggier. When it’s loud, it’s louder. When it’s quiet, it’s quieter. There’s a lot more of a lot more but it’s all Brass Camel. Hope you enjoy it.”

About Brass Camel:
Vancouver's Brass Camel is a rock band that defies labels, fusing deep-pocket funk, face-melting prog, and massive-harmony art rock. Since releasing their debut album Brass in 2022, they’ve played over 180 shows, including four national Canadian tours, major festivals (Between the Peaks, Starbelly Jam, Wapiti), and stages like Vancouver’s Commodore Ballroom, Vogue Theatre, and a Toronto headliner at the historic Longboat Hall. Their musicianship and work ethic have earned endorsements from Sabian, Rotosound UK, Pro Mark Drumsticks and Evans Drumheads. In 2024, their cover of Sabrina Carpenter’s Please Please Please on Musora’s Covers Challenge took off on YouTube, drawing 750,000 views and counting. Their sophomore album Camel (spring 2025) brought international press, reaction videos, and steady LP sales. While touring in support of this album, the band recorded their third LP at Uxbridge's pastoral Chalet Studio with Kevin Comeau of Crown Lands co-producing. Mixed by the legendary Terry Brown (Rush, Hendrix, The Who, Blue Rodeo), the upcoming (April 2026) release marks a bold leap in songwriting, distilling Brass Camel’s road-forged sound into something entirely their own.
