Jimmy Carter, Co-Founding Member of The Blind Boys of Alabama, To Release Debut Solo Album “Blind Faith” Sept 20, 2021

Jimmy Carter, the last original member of The Blind Boys of Alabama will be releasing his, the long awaited first solo album titled “Blind Faith” on Sept 20, 2021. The album was produced and co-written by songwriter, guitarist Ron Pullman. Jimmy’s hope is to bring to the world through the music on “Blind Faith” a Gospel message and a source of peace.

This is my first solo album and I am excited to be able to sing some original music that’s in harmony with traditional Gospel, while using a range of different musical genres that embrace the Gospel sound with an up-lifting message.” – Jimmy Carter

Jimmy Carter is the eldest member of The Blind Boys of Alabama, five-time Grammy winners, Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award winners, Gospel Hall of Fame, and the National Heritage Fellowship from the Endowment for the Arts to name a few. He sang with the original group, including his good friend Clarence Fountain back in the late 1930’s when they were at the Alabama Institute for the Negro Deaf and Blind, (now the Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind) but was too young to go touring with them at the beginning. After singing with the Dixieland Blind Boys and the Five Blind Boys of Mississippi, he eventually officially joined The Blind Boys of Alabama and has been singing with them ever since.

Jimmy dedicated the song “I Am With You Still”, the first single off of “Blind Faith”, in memory of his good friend, co-founder of The Blind Boys of Alabama, Clarence Fountain.

The music track of “I Am With You Still” was engineered by legendary engineer/producer Alan Parsons at his studio Parsonics in Santa Barbara, CA. Jimmy returned to his roots and the school where he and Clarence attended to have the student choir from AIDB perform on “I Am With You Still”.

Watch the video for the track “I Am With You Still”:

The Blind Boys of Alabama have the rare distinction of being recognized around the world as both living legends and modern-day innovators of Traditional Gospel, Americana and Roots Gospel music. They are not just gospel singers borrowing from old traditions; the group helped to define those traditions in the 20th century and almost single-handedly created a new gospel sound for the 21st. Since the original members first sang together as kids in the late 1930’s (including Jimmy Carter, who leads the group today), the band has persevered through seven decades to become one of the most recognized and decorated Traditional Gospel, Gospel Roots and Americana music groups in the world. Rolling Stone Magazine has called The Blind Boys of Alabama “Gospel Titians” and The New Yorker simply said “legendary”. Few would disagree!

Over the past 20 years, Jimmy and The Blind Boys of Alabama have worked with the likes of Ben Harper, Charlie Musselwhite, Prince, Robert Randolph, Mavis Staples, Taj Mahal, Ruthie Foster, Bon Iver, Paul Thorn, Peter Gabriel and Ron Pullman. The list goes on. Everybody, it seems, wants to perform and record with Jimmy and the Blind Boys.

Jimmy Carter & Ron Pullman

Ron Pullman wrote all the tracks except tracks 7 and 9, which were written by Joey Williams the band leader of the Jimmy Carter Band. Ron produced the entire record and is the music director for the band and the up-coming tour. Jimmy and Ron talked a lot together and came up with a plan and direction for this album. Says Jimmy, “I am blessed to have worked on my record with Ron Pullman. He is an amazing writer, producer, performer and a great friend.”

Jay Dudt (5 Grammy) engineered most of the record and is a good friend of Ron’s. The album was recorded mostly at Audible Images, Pittsburgh and Sound of Birmingham, Birmingham, AL.

Jimmy Carter Band with Alan Parsons - L to R Steven Ray Ladson, Alan Parsons, Joey Williams, Austin Moore, Ron Pullman, Mathew Hopkins, Peter Levin not Present.

In support of the “Blind Faith” album release, Jimmy wants to do live TV shows and some touring dates. And if the people like this album Jimmy and Ron want to do a second record.

Singer/Songwriter Tamara L. Wilson To Release New EP “Let It Go” on June 18, 2021

Featuring Blind Guitar Legend Joey Stuckey

Spreading love and positive vibes is Tamara L. Wilson's mission for her music; and it's a breath of fresh air. Her party started when she was only a girl, singing along with her 'Papa' and her Dad, in their down-home sing-alongs playing their guitars and singing gospel and country music. Tamara's journey has always led her back to the melodies of her heart and soul.

Growing up in South Carolina, she started out singing locally and then worked the Marriott circuit for a while as a performing artist.  Her songwriting really began to unfold while attending a community college in Mesa, AZ where she studied recording and piano. As soon as her hands hit the keys, she was awakened to her natural and God given talent of crafting a soulful song using her heartfelt vocals. Tamara's true heart's desire is to make others feel better and have a little fun while discovering her music.

Tamara’s recent single “Freedom Flame” and the track “Your Own Kind Of Beautiful” became critically acclaimed favorites and her most popular cuts to date. Tamara’s new EP “Let it Go” is due out June 18, 2021!

Says Tamara, “‘Let It Go’ is the overall theme of the EP. So MUCH has been going on for all of us; between the pandemic and the racial disharmony upfront and center, it feels like we all need to ‘let go’ of some stress! There’s never been a better time to find more peace and harmony than right now! After about 3 months home alone, just working on music most every day, I took off for a healthcare appointment, but instead of going back home, I just kept driving! I drove all the way down to the gulf coast! Wow! Beautiful! Clear as a drink of water with white sand and blue green ocean! ‘Let It Go’ is a theme for my life! LOL!”

Track List

It’s Your Life (Believe)
Little More Love Remix
Let It Go
Have It All

Says Tamara, “Let me give a big shout out and thanks to Joey Stuckey! I like to call him and his friends that he also got to play on ‘It’s Your Life (Believe)’ and ‘Little More Love Remix’ the ‘cosmic musicians’! Joey has over 35 awards...plays several instruments...writes, sings...and wait for it, he’s blind! Wow! His friend Tom Rule gifted me with the piano track for ‘It’s Your Life’...just gave it to me!  And listen to that man play! He’s been in music 30+ years, done many albums himself, and teaches University level music and computers! Another friend of Joey’s, Miguel Castro played drums...he’s a recording artist of many years and has been the Director of Percussion at the University level for 20+ years! Outstanding!”

The musicians on the tracks “Let It Go” and “Have It All” are Freddy Tripp who plays keys, trumpet, trombone, and programming and is in the Country Music Hall of Fame, and also has a Best Album. Coleman Murphy, the guitarist that so skillfully weaves in and out the lyrics, has years of being a studio musician, and recorded the karaoke versions of over 4000 songs. Tim Loftin joined in for the bass on “Let It Go” all the way from Canada, also a seasoned professional musician.

Says Tamara, “I feel so blessed to be working with musicians of this caliber. I can’t even read music! It was a little daunting, and humbling. But I knew, I was working with them because I was supposed to be! Yeah... ‘Tamara and the Cosmic Musicians’...I AM Blessed!”

Some people are born talented, blessed with vocals that are beautiful and melodious. It does not take them time to realize their true talent and thus, in the yesteryear, such a gem was born” - MySoundMusic

In closing Tamara has this to impart, “If you listen to the lyrics of my songs, you will hear my message loud and clear! My goal is for my music to uplift, encourage, bring confidence and harmony to the listener. I hope my songs help someone, somewhere feel a little bit better! Peace!”

Rock-Pop-Blues-Gospel-Country-R&B Review:Elvis Presley-The Searcher - The Original Soundtrack (Deluxe 3 CD Set)

Release Date: April 4, 2018
Label: Sony Legacy/RCA

As time passes and I learn more about Elvis Presley, the more I appreciate his legacy. Through several of the deluxe sets, I have gained a good education and heard some amazing music.

Elvis Presley: The Searcher The Original Soundtrack is a 3CD deluxe box set that features 37 additional Elvis cuts plus a special disc featuring selections from Mike McCready's (Pearl Jam) original score for Elvis Presley: The Searcher; Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers performing "Wooden Heart," and the music that inspired Elvis that includes R&B and country classics and "Home Sweet Home" sung by his mother, Gladys Presley. The set also includes a 40-page book featuring rare photographs, liner notes by Warren Zanes, and a director's note by Thom Zimny. Those are some of the highlights of this comprehensive set.

The Searcher - The Original Soundtrack is more of a deeper look into the persona of the legendary performer we knew as The King. Not only are there three CDs with this set, an informative booklet is included and a soon to follow two-part HBO special that kicks off on April 14th. So, all of us Elvis fans get the full multimedia treatment this time around.

I think when you strip away the Elvis we knew on stage you find a very dedicated, serious and committed performer. And I think, more importantly, he is a man that never forget from whence he came. He was legendary for his generosity, and perhaps because he was brought up in poverty, he sincerely appreciated his stardom and all the things he could enjoy because of it.

The thing I always find so striking about Elvis was his ability to cover every genre with equal energy and class. There has been and never will be another more eclectic performer than Elvis. Being multi-dimensional was his calling, and did he ever fill those shoes with excellence. Having top-notch musicians to back him never hurt either. Like a quarterback with great receivers, he covered every nuance in each genre including Country, Blues, Pops, Gospel, R&B, and Rock. At times there were tracks that took a little of each influence to create a song, only Elvis could deliver.

Some of the tracks like “Blue Moon” showed how Elvis could get his voice to hit the higher register. The track will send a chill up your spine in a heartbeat. Its simplicity and atmosphere are exceptional and a complete step away from the previous track. That is one example of the many facets of Elvis. His emotion and soul were weaved into everything he sang. There are some tracks like “Blue Moon” that really make you realize what a powerful presence he had and unique delivery that made each song come alive.

I have been looking forward to this set for a long time and the HBO special as well. I think my education of Elvis; his music and life will be a continuing process for many of us. And I am loving every minute of it. I know without any doubt that everyone that came after him is indebted for his influence, and one that he is still having on anyone recording music.
