Tony Palmer’s “All You Need Is Love” Documentary Limited Unique Signed Collectors Edition Box Set

“All You Need Is Love” is a landmark production that first aired in the 1970s.

Director Tony Palmer’s 17-part documentary covers the history of modern popular music, from its earliest origins through the mid-70s. Among the included genres are folk, ragtime, musical theatre, swing, jazz, blues and of course rock ‘n’ roll.

Palmer interviewed more than 300 subjects, and he enlisted the help of experts and personalities in the music field, including Stephen Sondheim, Leonard Feather and Nik Cohn, to provide the background for each episode. The documentary’s title is taken from the 1967 Beatles song written by John Lennon, a friend of Tony’s.

The Box Contains:
1) A hand signed by Tony Palmer certificate
2) All 17 one hour episodes on 5 DVDs of the classic TV series
3) 322 page long out-of-print original book with black & white and colour photos
4) 28 page brochure with all the background
5) A complete facsimile of Tony Palmer’s diary for 1975 showing where and when the films were made...
6) A reproduction of the “A monumental achievement. Thank you” telegram sent by JOHN LENNON personally to Tony Palmer

Here’s what the press has said about Tony Palmer’s “All You Need Is Love”:

It’s subtitled ‘The Story of Popular Music,’ and it really is, in nearly 15 hours, on five discs… How great must this be? See for yourself.” (EW Pick, “A” Rating) - Ken Tucker, ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY

“Calling this five-disc, 17-episode walk through history of pop music ‘comprehensive’ is like calling the Bible ‘important’… All You Need Is Love is a musical education in a box.” - Ryan Dombal, BLENDER

“There's no shortage of ambition in this 17-episode series directed in 1977 for  British TV by music journalist and filmmaker Tony Palmer. Subtitled 'The Story of  Popular Music,' this is the closest we will ever get to a definitive portrait of such a sprawling topic.” - Sean Axmaker, MSN.com

“This rigorous and compelling documentary series is a one-stop shop for the wisdom and development of pop.” - Andrew Perry, MOJO (UK)

“For an entertaining and informative history of popular music up through the mid-70’s, you could not do any better than this engrossing series.” - Curt Fields, WASHINGTON POST

“The idea of documenting the entire in-depth history of something as mercurial as popular music is the kind of epic task that could make even Ken Burns blanch. And yet that’s exactly what British journalist and filmmaker Tony Palmer did in the mid-’70s, with the impossibly expansive 'All You Need Is Love: The Story of Popular Music.'” - Bilge Ebiri, TIME OUT NEW YORK

“Tony Palmer’s 'All You Need Is Love' was hailed in its day and looks even better now, thanks to Palmer's blend of stock footage, electrifying performances and thoughtful narration.”  - Noel Murray, LA TIMES

“…an impressive achievement, scholarly, opinionated and entertaining, seamlessly blending archive and fresh footage with an impressive cast of talking heads.” - Peter Kane, Q MAGAZINE (UK)

“…Undeniably the most ambitious attempt to document the changing face of popular music ever to reach the TV screen.” - Terry Staunton, CLASSIC ROCK MAGAZINE

“…An astute, fine-tooth-combing through popular music in all its hues and ages.” - Linda Laban, BOSTON GLOBE

“…Holds your interest throughout – though you’ll certainly need more than one viewing to absorb it all.” (4 stars) - Gillian G. Gaar, GOLDMINE

Krautrock Legends GURU GURU Release "Live in China" New CD & DVD

These are thrilling years in the GURU GURU camp. In 2018, they celebrated their 50th anniversary on stage since they were founded in 1968, the year of the student's revolt. In 2020, Mani will celebrate his 80th birthday (born on New Years Eve 1940) by embarking on another extensive tour with more than 50 shows.

In between those two special events, Guru Guru played in China for the first time! In 2019, they were invited to a festival in the far east but nobody had a clue what was in store for them. Guru Guru has played all continents in their long career (except maybe the antarctic) but how would the audience in China receive them? It turned out to be a fantastic, sold-out show with more than 1000 fans celebrating the band enthusiastically which you can see and hear on recently released Live CD + DVD. Some even traveled 18 hours by train from Beijing to see the band!

Even though most of the songs were already released in various other albums, this show features a “historic” document and captures the very special atmosphere of a one-time opportunity for both band and fans. It was recorded live in Shenzhen at the Tomorrow Festival on May 19, 2019 and even though the sound-quality is not up to contemporary standards, Guru Guru decided against extensive overdubbing to preserve the unique atmosphere showcasing the reverence Guru Guru enjoys in the worldwide underground-scene!

Renaissance is a band with a rich history unique unto themselves as progressive rock pioneers who rose from the ashes of the seminal UK rock band, The Yardbirds. Acclaimed for their unique blending of progressive rock with classical and symphonic influences, the band's career has spanned forty plus years spearheaded by the 5 octave voice of Annie Haslam and the masterful songwriting skills of Michael Dunford. They are widely considered to be the band that most successfully and routinely utilized the sound of a full orchestra in their recordings.

In the early years Renaissance toured Europe extensively. It wasn't long before influential progressive rock stations in the US, such as WNEW (NYC), WMMR (Philadelphia) and WHFS (Washington) were turning on America to Renaissance. Before too long the band started thrilling concertgoers on the world's most distinguished stages, from Carnegie Hall in NYC with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, to the Royal Albert Hall in London with The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Royal Chorale Society. In 1978 they had a top ten hit in the UK with 'Northern Lights', which has become a classic radio favorite, still demanding regular airplay to this day.

The band eventually disbanded in the late 1980's at which time Annie Haslam launched a solo career. In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the original founding of Renaissance, Michael and Annie in 2009 decided to form a new touring band. More recently they have toured the UK, Belgium, Holland, Israel, Portugal, North America, Canada, Japan and South Korea and produced their first album in 13 years entitled “Symphony of Light”. The album is a testament to the unforgettable melodies that Michael Dunford infused into his work, Michael died prematurely in 2012.

Renaissance toured Europe in April 2015, the first in over 35 years! The tour was very successful and the fans loved every minute!

The current personnel of Renaissance include: Annie Haslam lead vocals, Rave Tesar keyboards, Tom Brislin keyboards, Mark Lambert acoustic guitars, Leo Traversa bass guitar, and Frank Pagano drums.

Progressive Rock Legends Renaissance To Tour The UK April 2015!

London, UK – Much to the excitement of music fans in the UK, progressive rock icons Renaissance featuring legendary singer Annie Haslam will be performing in the UK in April 2015! They are widely considered to be the band that most successfully and routinely utilised the sound of a full orchestra in their recordings.

“In April of this year we will be touring Europe for the first time in over thirty years and we are all extremely excited. It is our goal to chronicle this journey by filming and releasing a new live concert DVD.” - Annie Haslam

In the early years Renaissance toured Europe extensively. It wasn’t long before influential progressive rock stations in the US, such as WNEW (NYC), WMMR (Philadelphia) and WHFS (Washington) were turning on America to Renaissance. Before too long the band started thrilling concertgoers on the world’s most distinguished stages, from Carnegie Hall in NYC with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, to the Royal Albert Hall in London with The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Royal Chorale Society. In 1978 they had a top ten hit in the UK with ‘Northern Lights’, which has become a classic radio favourite, still demanding regular airplay to this day.

The band eventually disbanded in the late 1980’s at which time Annie Haslam launched a solo career. In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the original founding of Renaissance, Michael and Annie in 2009 decided to form a new touring band. More recently they have toured North America, Canada, Japan and South Korea and produced their first album in 13 years entitled ‘Symphony of Light’. DREAM THEATER to Release “Breaking the Fourth Wall” DVD on September 30

Dream Theater in 2014
Grammy-nominated progressive metal titans–have announced the release of Breaking The Fourth Wall (Live From The Boston Opera House), a live Blu-Ray / DVD set of the band’s one-of-a-kind performance from the Boston Opera House on March 25, 2014. Produced by the band’s own John Petrucci, filmed and directed by Pierre and François Lamoureux, and mixed and mastered by Richard ChyckiBreaking The Fourth Wall (Live From The Boston Opera House) is over 2 hours in length, capturing the special evening, which featured guest performances from The Berklee College of Music Orchestra and Choir. Breaking The Fourth Wall (Live From The Boston Opera House) arrives September 30th.

The collection will be available in multiple configurations including Blu-Ray, a 2 DVD set, and a webstore deluxe exclusive Blu-Ray/3 CD set with poster, all currently available for pre-order via the Roadrunner Records webstore. Furthermore, Dream Theater have premiered a video of The Looking Glass (Live) taken from Breaking The Fourth Wall (Live From The Boston Opera House) which can be streamed on the band’s official YouTube Channel. All pre-orders for the webstore exclusive will receive an instant download The Looking Glass (Live).

Dream Theater’s John Petrucci commented on the special event saying, “In many ways, this was a huge homecoming for the band given the history of Dream Theater’s origins and ties with Berklee. With John and I both being alumni and Mike having been a professor at the college for 10 years, we saw the opportunity to perform together with the students of Berklee as a tremendous thrill and honor. We are extremely grateful for everyone’s hard work in making this special event a reality and to all who participated.” He continued, “All of the Berklee College instrumentalists and vocalists did an outstanding job that night and it was awesome to have one of its students, Eren Başbuğ orchestrate and conduct them live at the Opera House after having been a part of our latest studio release in the same capacity. Dream Theater has always had a great connection to the city of Boston and we knew that against the backdrop of the beautiful Opera House, this would end up being a historic stop on our Along For The Ride world tour and an evening most definitely worth capturing on video. Beautifully filmed and directed by Pierre Lamoureux and brilliantly mixed and mastered by Richard Chycki, this is in my opinion, a major highlight in our nearly 30 year career as a band. We are eagerly anticipating its release this fall and really hope that everyone enjoys it!

This past year Dream Theater earned a second Grammy nomination for “Best Metal Performance” for the single The Enemy Inside from their current self-titled worldwide smash album (released September 24, 2013 on Roadrunner Records). Dream Theater made a spectacular debut this past fall, topping Billboard’s “Hard Rock Albums” chart while simultaneously entering at #7 on the overall Billboard 200. The extraordinary chart position marked the group’s third consecutive top 10 debut, and also saw Dream Theater making top 5 chart debuts in Japan, Germany, Italy, Canada, Argentina, Switzerland, Holland, and Finland, as well as top 10 debuts in Denmark, Austria, and Norway, with career high debuts in the United Kingdom and Australia. The band recently announced new tour dates which will see them bring their spectacular live show to South America, Asia and Australia later this fall.
