Deluxe Fan Edition of Nick DeRiso’s Best-Selling Book JOURNEY: WORLDS APART Out Now!

The Deluxe Fan Edition of Nick DeRiso’s Amazon best-selling book JOURNEY: WORLDS APART is here! Featuring exclusive photographs and illustrations in gorgeous full color, this must-have hardback isn’t just a biography of the band Journey – it’s a backstage pass.

DeRiso, a five-time columnist of the year, conducted more than 50 interviews for JOURNEY: WORLDS APART, delving into every album and every era with Neal Schon, Jonathan Cain, Gregg Rolie, Steve Augeri, Deen Castronovo, and Steve Smith, among others. Combined with extensive charts and a detailed timeline, he’s created the most complete portrait ever of a jam band that evolved from Santana into arena rockers, premier power balladeers and then Rock and Roll Hall of Famers.

Here's where to buy this all-new Deluxe Fan Edition of JOURNEY: WORLDS APART:
https://www.amazon.com/Journey-Worlds-Apart-Nick-DeRiso/dp/1734365382/

Also featured are conversations that DeRiso had with key musical collaborators, producers, video directors, industry experts and band insiders. They include John Waite, Jan Hammer, MTV’s Martha Quinn, San Francisco music journalist Joel Selvin, former Rolling Stone editor David Wild, former Journey members Marco Mendoza and Jeff Scott Soto, Journey road manager Pat Morrow, and longtime album cover illustrator Stanley Mouse, among many others.

JOURNEY: WORLDS APART topped the Amazon chart for biographies of both rock and pop bands multiple times after its original release in December as Journey concluded its 50th year. Nick DeRiso has been named columnist of the year by the Associated Press, the Louisiana Press Association and LSWA; he also oversaw a newspaper section for the USA Today Network that was named Top 10 in the nation by the Associated Press.

Here's what’s been said about the book:

Believers in Journey’s entire journey should embrace Nick DeRiso’s JOURNEY: WORLDS APART with open arms. This is a compelling deep dive into the rather complicated history of one of the most enduringly beloved bands in rock history.” – David Wild, former Rolling Stone contributing editor

“Journey was amazing in their resilience and it’s hard to say enough about their chops: Steve Perry, he really has a talent that is so extreme, it’s scary. Steve Smith is the world’s baddest white boy on drums. Ross Valory, always there, always dependable—a fabulous bass player with the best sense of humor. Neal Schon, I’m telling you he is the master. For me, there’s nobody who touches Neal. We had the best crew of road men and women ever! Everyone came together because of the determination of Herbie Herbert. Without Herbie, none of this would have ever happened. JOURNEY: WORLDS APART takes fans all the way back. It’s as close to how it was then as you’re ever going to read.” – Pat Morrow, longtime Journey road manager and Nocturne CEO

“From ‘Don’t Stop Believin” to ‘Separate Ways,’ Journey unconsciously wrote the band’s autobiography in their songs. Nick DeRiso’s JOURNEY: WORLDS APART follows that long, strange ‘journey’ from the stage of Woodstock to Trump’s Oval Office in almost granular detail, detailing a long-running battle of the band. A must-read for all Journey fans.” – Joel Selvin, former San Francisco Chronicle music writer

“For a band of its stature and impact, there’s precious little literature out there about Journey. Nick DeRiso’s JOURNEY: WORLDS APART fills that gap in a comprehensive, well, journey through the band’s 50-year-plus career. Packed with up-to-date facts and, most importantly, context, WORLDS APART offers plenty of insight for fans both faithful and casual—going all the way back to its roots in Santana and steering us through the songs and albums, the personalities, the soap opera dynamics, and the determined wherewithal that have kept Journey riding through it all. There’s much more to this band than “Don’t Stop Believin’,” and WORLDS APART gives us all of it.” – Gary Graff, longtime Detroit music critic and author of Alice Cooper at 75

Prog Legends Nektar To Release “Journey To The Other Side - Live At The Dunellen Theatre June 10, 2023” Through Deko Entertainment As A Fitting Tribute To Late Drummer & Founding Member Ron Howden

Stockton, NJ - Formed in Germany in 1969, Nektar favored extended compositions and concept albums over the constraints of pop. They were among the progenitors of the progressive rock movement of the 1970s as well as the jam-band scene that arose in the late 1990s. Their sound traveled well to the States, where they enjoyed Top 40 success with “A Tab in the Ocean” (1972) and “Remember the Future” (1973). Nearly 20 albums and a half-century later, the band’s artistic and personal charisma has earned them masses of devoted fans along with their latest album “The Other Side” (2020) which was Number 1 on Amazon Progressive Music.

As they begin the next 50 years of their career, they kick it off with “Journey to the Other Side – Live at The Dunellen Theatre June 10, 2023.” Recorded during the band’s 50th anniversary tour, this release captures the band in all their glory with a 2CD/Blu-Ray set with a 5-camera shoot and multi-track recording. Clocking in at over 2 and 1/2 hours and spanning the band’s entire career with classics like “Remember the Future Parts 1 & 2,” “A Tab in the Ocean,” and many more.

This recording has become a virtual remembrance of Nektar drummer and primary member, Ron Howden, who died suddenly at the ripe old age of 78 on September 29th, 2023. As founding member Derek “Mo” Moore states, “I think you will enjoy being part of Nektar’s 50th extended Anniversary Tour and glad we captured this performance. Rest in Peace Ron.”

The band is currently hard at work on their forthcoming trilogy “Mission To Mars.” The first installment is scheduled to hit in early June to coincide with the band’s tour which kicks off in New Jersey on June 7th.

Music Artist J.Edmond To Release Debut Single “City Walk” on March 22, 2024

J.Edmond (formerly known as “Jebb”) is a musician hailing from Prospect, CT. Since 2016, he has released over 50 titles under his former name and has been heavily influenced by the likes of Badfinger, Big Star, and Toad the Wet Sprocket. “City Walk” is the first single for J.Edmond, which will be released on March 22, 2024, The new single represents the rebirth of a musician by the name of Jebb, who now goes by the name J.Edmond. The track represents the human condition between light and dark, and how those who are creative have to deal with the obstacles that stop them from being themselves. “City Walk” takes listeners on a journey that is fun, but also laced with fears of the unknown, like life itself. The CD and Bandcamp exclusive bonus track were once planned for a Jebb album but fits here very well with its Badfinger laced sound.

Says J.Edmond, “This single first came to me during a trip to Florida in 2022. This was the first time I traveled alone, primarily to meet up with one of my closest friends. We decided to venture out to Walt Disney World for a few days, and at the end of it, we headed over to CityWalk in Universal Studios Orlando to see The All-American Rejects perform at the Hard Rock. I don’t know what it is, but walking around CityWalk, which is like a small marketplace you can explore before entering the Universal theme parks, really struck a chord with me. This is where the song’s name came from. I wrote it in about 20 mins, but it took a full year to really finalize it. The first person I showed the song to was Steve Rodgers, a fellow musician based in Connecticut. He decided to add some great lap steel and bass parts that are, in my eyes, really pertinent to the song’s sound. Soon after, I called in another friend of mine, Los Angeles-based musician A. Michael Collins of Broken Sound (featuring session legend Fernando Perdomo). He would add drum parts and the fuzzy guitar bits to the track. In the end, I sang lead and played acoustic guitar. Creating this song was definitely a learning experience for me as well. As I said, it took well over a year to really get to know the track, and I feel that with well over 50 releases under my belt, this very well might be the work I am most proud of.”

The cover art was a photograph of River Walk in San Antonio by Ivan Iniego Aguiar.

Says J.Edmond, “I plan to work on getting my new moniker out there by doing gigs both in-state and out-of-state, along with my brand new repertoire, J.Edmond & The Old Souls. We came to fruition in February of this year, but this is definitely one of the tightest bands I have ever worked with. I’m hoping to get them in the studio at some point as well.”
