Wishbone Ash and Trapeze Lead Vocalist Merv Spence Announces the Release of His Interpretations of the 'Phenomena' Catalogue – OUT NOW!

Merv Spence is an Irish musician and former member of Wishbone Ash and Trapeze, as well as an established solo artist. He will be touring to support the release and this album features all of Merv Spence’s covers of the Phenomena tracks, both previously released and newly recorded.

Phenomena is an all-star series of albums created by Tom Galley which saw its debut album sell 1.2 million copies, and its follow-up deliver a #1 hit single ‘Did It All For Love’. Merv Spence is the former rights owner of the Phenomena albums and previously recorded his own renditions of the best-known songs.

Lead singer, musician & music producer Merv Spence said of the release: "'Phenomena Recovered' is a very important album for me. A lot of creative blood, sweat and tears went into producing these songs and the results make me feel incredibly proud. I embraced the challenge, and gave it my own signature. Phenomena’s Original Trilogy of Hit Albums and Anthology Collected Together in One Set Along with the Launch of a New Merchandise Store (Including T-Shirts) and High-Res Audio Release – All Out Now!

The three iconic Phenomena albums have been collected together into a mini-box set for fans who want to buy all three studio albums together. The set also includes the Anthology (which features five exclusive tracks) and all four booklets, including liner notes on the history of Phenomena.

Phenomena 1 sold over a million copies in 1985 and 1987’s Phenomena 2: Dream Runner featured the #1 hit single “Did It All For Love” with Phenomena 3: Innervision following in 1993.

Guests on the project include Glenn Hughes, John Wetton, Brian May, Cozy Powell, Mel Galley, Neil Murray, Max Bacon, Ric Sanders, Scott Gorham, John Thomas, Ted McKenna and Keith Murrell.

GLENN HUGHES’ 17 SONGS ON LEAD VOCALS FOR THE PHENOMENA PROJECT COLLECTED TOGETHER ON THE NEW “STILL THE NIGHT” COMPILATION – OUT NOW!

Glenn Hughes sang lead vocals on 17 tracks for the Phenomena Project and all these tracks have been collected together on one Phenomena compilation named after the Hughes co-penned track “Still The Night”.

Phenomena is an all-star series of albums created by Tom Galley and this compilation also features: Cozy Powell, Mel Galley, Neil Murray, Ric Sanders, Ted McKenna, Michael Sturgis and Richard Bailey.

The tracks are collected together from the million selling debut Phenomena” album, “Dream Runner” and “Psycho Fantasy”.

As Tom Galley recalls of Glenn Hughes’s work with Phenomena “It did him a lot of good. He got a lot of attention for the performance he did for us”.

This compilation also features final mixes of the RARE tracks “Assassins in the Night”, “Running with the Pack” and the 12” remix of “Still the Night”.  The CD housed in an attractive 6 panel digipack with artwork by Iain Lowe.

Definitive Editions of All Three Legendary "Phenomena" Rock Concept Albums - OUT NOW!

London - Phenomena is a rock music concept conceived by record producer Tom Galley and brother, Whitesnake guitarist Mel Galley and directed by Wilfried Rimensberger. Contributors were leading rock musicians such as Brian May, John Wetton, Glenn Hughes, Don Airey, Mel Galley, Neil Murray and Cozy Powell amongst others.

Phenomena's production of rock songs based on a story line running through a whole album, attached to artworks and other multi-media aspects was credited for the “return of the concept album” in the 1980s. Phenomena released three albums in the 1980s and early 1990s, and had a number one hit single in South America with “Did It All For Love,” while the album charted across Europe, in Japan and Brazil.

The creator of Phenomena, Tom Galley, said of the re-releases: “I'm happy to see the release of these original recordings. And being in touch with the involved artists, I know they are looking forward to see this happening too. Together with previously never seen material the 3 albums are well presented.”
