Nigerian artist OFFICIAL GENIUS releases sensational new track 'Slow Down'

 

One of the latest rising stars on the Nigerian circuit, GENIUS is a singer-songwriter with layers of credibility. He took the industry by storm when he released his debut single ‘Erima’. Now back with sensational new release ‘Slow Down’, there’s no sign of slowing down for his artist. In June 2020, he solidified his position as an Afrobeats star with his debut album, ‘Kamikaze’. The project has been an enormous success and is currently receiving airplay on many radio stations in Southern Nigeria.

Speaking about the release, GENIUS shares, “Slow Down talks about how a girl keeps finessing a guy who slides on her instagram Dm. However, he keeps doing all he can to win her over even though he knows she hard to get because she is richer than him.”

Adding to his thoughts on how the track was created, GENIUS adds, “I was listening to my friends who I met on an Instagram playlist he made instrumentals, just for the first 10 seconds i listened i was he captived by the supernatural vibe of the beat, freestyled to the instrumental and i fell in love with what i had, i contacted him and paid him for the beat and he sent me the stems of the instrumental, I recorded at home, I love storytelling in all of my songs there has to be a messaged, so i wrote the song after freestyling fixed an imaginery story on the beat when i finished recording i sent the stems and the files to STG for mixng and mastering he worked with top arts like Wizkid, Davido and even african giant burna boy.”

Musically, somewhere between afrobeat and R&B, ‘Slow Down’ will instantly have you jiving with its addictive beat. Receiving previous support from the likes of The Guardian (Nigeria), and reaching #1 in the iTunes Album Chart (Nigeria), GENIUS is best described as a force to be reckoned with.

Tony Levin (King Crimson, Peter Gabriel) has been photographing his touring experiences since the early 1980s. Tens of thousands of photos later, he’s compiled eight of his favorite photographic moments from forty years of touring with King Crimson. These prints include:

All photos are hand-titled and signed by Tony Levin. They are a limited print run of 500 photogravure prints. The first public orders of the Special Edition Box are assigned print numbers 11-50.

Each print is handmade on a traditional intaglio press using materials that will last for generations. They are printed with low or acid-free ink on 22.25 x 15.5” Hahnemuhle Copperplate Brite White, 300 g/sm alpha cellulose paper with torn, deckled edges. These same ink and paper formulas used in Tony Levin’s print collection have been used by printmakers in Europe for hundreds of years.

Signed and stamped certificates of authenticity are issued with every print.

The traditional, fabric-lined, limited-edition, clamshell-style, 24” x 17” print collection box for Tony Levin’s King Crimson Print Collection is custom-crafted using archive-grade materials for storing and preserving prints cleanly and elegantly. Jon Lybrook is a Fine Art Printmaker based in Colorado. Medivh reveals alternative rock single 'Rebirth'

Adding to the track’s inspiration, Medivh explain, “In a reality that always pushes you to the limit you have to be strong and rise again every day. Forgetting yesterday's fears and failures, to have courage and fully living the present. We met a girl recently and we listened to her story. A brief meeting, but we kept it in our mind. It's Marie Jane, a survivor. She’s fragile and strong at the same time: she’s very young but she already knows how tough life is. She’s been tempered by the storm and what she experienced has made her capable of rising from her own ashes. Every night she dies. Every day she is reborn to fight and feel alive”. Marie Jane is magnetic, a force of nature. She attracts you and you can't help but want to be like her. She feeds on energy, she creates and destroys. Marie Jane is a Goddess and we can only stand and stare while she passes through our lives.”

The genesis of the project dates back to summer 2020, and fast forward to now, the outfit have released an album and a single. Returning with ‘Rebirth’, the new track crafts electronica, rock and alternative pop melodies to convey its diverse soundscape. Weaving the brothers various musical influences and sound textures to create their innovative sound, the heartbeat and pulsating rhythms come from drummer Lorenzo.

Steppenwolf was formed in 1967 in LA by John Kay (vocals, guitar, harmonica), Goldy McJohn (organ, piano) and Jerry Edmonton (drums) who were previously members of the Canadian band The Sparrows. They were joined by Michael Monarch (lead guitar) and Rushton Moreve (bass). The band signed to Dunhill/ABC the same year and with producer Gabriel Mekler they recorded their self-titled debut album. The band were propelled to success with their classic single “Born To Be Wild” (a #2 hit in the USA) and became even wider known when the track was featured, along with their version of “The Pusher” in the classic 1969 counterculture film “Easy Rider”.

“The Second” was released in October ‘68 and featured the hit single “Magic Carpet Ride” (another US #2 hit). In March ‘69 “At Your Birthday Party” was released to further success and was their first record to feature Nick St Nicholas on bass and their last to feature Michael Monarch. The July 1969 release “Early Steppenwolf” featured live recordings made at The Matrix in San Francisco in May 1967 and featured a 20-minute version of “The Pusher”.

The band’s next studio album, “Monster”, was issued in November 1969 and dealt with America’s involvement in the Vietnam War. 1970 saw the band release two albums, the double LP “Steppenwolf Live” and “Steppenwolf 7”. By the release of the latter the band’s popularity began to wane slightly, although they would retain a large and loyal fan base. Their November 1971 album “For Ladies Only” was their last for Dunhill/ABC and Steppenwolf disbanded in February 1972 only to reform in 1974.

ECHLO shares artistic vision 'Puppeteer'

ECHLO is finally back with the enthralling new release, ‘Puppeteer’, from her upcoming first full album ‘I was I’.

ECHLO is an artist that knows a thing or two about breaking free. Chloe Charles introduced ECHLO to the world with her 2019 successful introductory EP ‘Echolocation‘. “ECHLO is my artistic reinvention. ECHLO evolved from Chloe. I’m not disassociating from what I’ve done in the past; I’m proud of that work and it’s a part of me. Speaking about her new release Puppeteer, ECHLO had this to say, “Sometimes we find ourselves in a position of power over someone else, the master in a love affair. At some point we have to cut our strings and break free.”
