Critically Acclaimed 1971 Film "Extremes" Feat. Soundtrack By Supertramp And Others Now Available For Pre-Order!
London - Available for the first time on CD and DVD, “Extremes” is the 1971 film Directed by Tony Klinger, Mike Lytton. It covers the whole gamut of present day human behaviour, from carefree pop fans bathing nude at the Isle of Wight to withdrawn, pathetic junkies hastening their own deaths with hard drugs. Such is the range encompassed by the so-called “permissive society”, doubly significant because it usually involves young people who have either never known discipline or are rebelling against an overdose of it. They can't change society so they have no alternative but to drop out from it. In some of the most natural and remarkable film footage ever obtained, Tony Klinger and Michael Lytton have captured a unique cross-section of them going their chosen ways, and talking freely and frankly about doing so. Nothing was pre-arranged, nothing rehearsed: everything was filmed as it happened. Hippies, junkies, Hell's Angels, alcoholics, drop-outs - all fall into the category of nonconformist minorities.
Accompanying this incredible film is an equally amazing sound track produced by Supertramp, Arc, Crucible and others. The sound track album was released on Deram and is so rare it sells for in excess of £250 and has never being be released on CD before.
Available from Gonzo Multimedia, this DVD/ CD package with an extensive booklet of photographs from the set and sleeve notes by Tony Klinger finally pays justice to this unique film

Metal Review: Crazy Lixx-Ruff Justice
Release Date: April
21, 2017
Label: Frontiers Music
For
the past decade, Swedish hard rock band Crazy Lixx have released a steady
stream of quality music. Attempting to bring life to a genre that’s seen better
days, Crazy Lixx has not only succeeded in those goals, but currently sits on
top the throne as one of the most recognizable modern hair metal bands. After a
tumultuous year in 2015, Crazy Lixx has reinvented themselves with a new lineup
and has taken a fresh stab at their trademark 80’s style rock n’ roll. And for
any of those worried that a lineup change compromises their knack for writing
big choruses, catchy guitar riffs, and blazing guitar solos, you can rest
assured – this album is good, real good.
Ruff
Justice kicks off with the dark n’ dirty “Wild Child,” which after
the first listen had me reaching for my guitar in an attempt to transcribe the
song. I’ve always felt that the difference between “good” music and “great”
music is that great music makes you want to get involved. Whether it makes you
dance or makes you air drum, it lights a fire that not only gets you involved
aurally, but involves you physically. The album continues firing on all
cylinders with “XIII,” the lead single. Despite being a fantastically catchy
track in its own right, a fun bit of trivia is knowing that this and 2 other
songs on the album were written for inclusion in Friday the 13th: The Game. And although Ruff Justice has several soundtrack
songs, they don’t break the flow of the album at any point – in fact, the
tracks could easily blend into any of the Crazy Lixx catalog. To prove this
point, stuck smack dab in the middle of the track list is yet another
soundtrack song, “Killer.” Opening with a slow, brooding acoustic guitar, you
can almost picture yourself wandering through the foggy, dense woods, trying to
make your way to safety. Before you know it, the song launches into a full-on
headbanger. Arguably the standout track on the record, “Killer” is one of many
examples of Crazy Lixx straying from their feel-good, party boy roots, to
something a bit more substantial in theme.
Ruff
Justice is proof that even when Crazy Lixx was down, they were far
from out. In every song, I hear the influences of their forefathers. There’s a
little bit of Ratt in “Walk the Wire,” a touch of Bon Jovi in “Live Before I
Die,” long-time vocalist Danny Rexon seems to channel the great Kip Winger at
times (especially in “Hunter of the Heart”), and guitarists Chrisse Olsson and
Jens Lundgren have the chops to take on any of their guitar heroes. However, at
the end of the day, Crazy Lixx has a sound that is uniquely theirs, and it
shines on Ruff Justice. This is their
best album since their major label debut New
Religion, and I would proudly recommend it to anyone that enjoys a little
rock n’ roll.

Instrumental New Age Review: Gina Lenee-Red Diamonds
Release Date: April
7, 2017
Label: Independent
Here is some essential information from the artist website
to get an idea of how effort went into the recording and who contributed…
Red
Diamonds was produced by Will Ackerman and Tom Eaton and
engineered, mixed and mastered by Tom Eaton. Featured guest artists appearing
on the album are Charlie Bisharat (violin), Eugene Friesen (cello), Jill Haley
(English horn), Jeff Haynes (percussion), Jeff Oster (flugelhorn), Marc Shulman
(electric guitar), Premik Russell Tubbs (EWI and sax), Tom Eaton (fretless
bass, guitar, vocals) Will Ackerman (acoustic guitar and vocals) and Noah
Wilding (vocals).
The status quo for Imaginary Road Studio is to bring in the
best group of musicians to help each artist create their own musical
masterpiece. This was no exception to the rule as superb musicians gathered to
create Red Diamonds. The
collaborative effort brings out the best in everyone. The goal and result is
always the same, to create music with a purpose and vision. I think this was accomplished successfully
and the passion and storytelling in the ivory keys comes flowing through Gina’s
soul. The entire album sounds like an invitation to a romantic getaway. And
whatever you consider romantic becomes real while listening to these tracks.
The English horn, violin, cello, sax and flugelhorn lay
down a bed of textures and colors that Gina takes full advantage of. Some of
the subtle vocals added were a real nice touch on tracks like “The Moment” and
“River.” The angelic and trance like
female vocal persuasions are just right, like the proverbial icing on the cake
as it were.
Listening to Red
Diamonds was like free form artistic expressionism in motion. The canvas in
this instance is you, the listener. As Gina paints the music with broad strokes,
it eases you into your own comfy chair that lives inside your mind and soul.
This is not a physical object; this is something that is esoteric. I have
always felt the need to express the spiritual power that music possesses and
ultimately that energy translates to a healing for this listener. If you have
not found that place yet I would advise listening to this music and use it as a
guide to get there.

"Phaedrus" Digital Magazine & Subscription Service Issues Rare & Unreleased PROG Music!
Carlos Plaza, leader and main composer of Kotebel, is now Chief Editor of a new quarterly digital magazine and subscription service called “Phaedrus.” The new magazine/service provides awareness among the progressive community and specializes in this genre and, among other content, provides a couple of features that are truly unique! Exclusive PROG music at an affordable price!
Phaedrus Music
“Phaedrus” offers original music that is not available for sale anywhere. In every issue, previously unreleased music is published and subscribers can download it in MP3 of WAV lossless. Says music artist and editor Carlos Plaza Vegas, “In this initial 'Phaedrus' phase, I'm the composer of all these pieces but as soon as 'Phaedrus' gains enough critical mass, I will be purchasing rights for original music from artists that I like. Thus, belonging to the Phaedrus Community will give you access to music that, at least for several years, will not be (legally) accessible by any other means. When the published pieces reach more than 45 minutes, a 'Phaedrus' album is manufactured and released. This album is sent to subscribers at no additional cost (not even shipping).” The digital magazine & subscription service is about to release its first album, “Triptych.”
Classics Choice
In this section, selected progressive rock master works are subject to analysis. It is important to highlight that we are not talking about reviews. The objective of these analyses is to submerge the listener into the details of the work. To allow the listener to discover hidden details, to better understand how the piece has been built, the relationship with the lyrics, the integration with the conceptual framework, etc. For the past 20 years or so, Progressive Rock has found a place among scholars. More and more musicologists are choosing progressive rock pieces as basis for research, doctoral and master's thesis. Many universities now include progressive rock as a course that forms part of music graduate and undergraduate programs. These research papers are aimed at musicians and musicologists and include a lot of technical information that requires a solid music training. These works, as interesting as they are, cannot be fully understood by the average progressive music fan. Carlos explains, “So, what I do as part of these analyses, is to strip from those documents the parts that require profound music knowledge. I select fragments, 'decaffeinate' others, create a lot of new material, and build a detailed analysis that can be followed by any progressive music fan.”
Phaedrus has already published analyses of: “Close to the Edge” (2 articles), “Tarkus,” “Starless,” “Supper’s Ready” (2 articles) and “A Passion Play” (part 1). Next publications are: “A Passion Play” (part 2), “The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway,” “Relayer,”and “Karn Evil 9.”
These analyses renew the listening enjoyment of beloved progressive rock classics but the most important benefit is this: These analyses help to develop listening skills that will enhance your enjoyment of music for the rest of your life!
Other “Phaedrus” sections include:
Kotebel Corner: with exclusive material for Kotebel fans including rare recordings, videos and music analyses.
Articles on a wide range of subjects related to art in general and music in particular.

The first album available “Triptych”:

“Triptych,” Phaedrus Music's first album, offers a wide variety of styles, from symphonic progressive rock to chamber music. It features Carlos Plaza's facet as a multi-instrumentalist, accompanied by a host of very special guests, including some very known to Kotebel fans.
The album is named after a three-piece suite whose first movement, “Dawn”, is the original piece from which the Adagio from Kotebel's “Concerto for Piano and Electric Ensemble” was based. The album also marks the beginning of a long-term project: to put music to all 22 major Tarot arcana. “Triptych” includes “The Fool”, “The Magician” and “The High Priestess”. The rest will gradually be presented in future Phaedrus Music albums.
Carlos Plaza explains, “ 'Triptych' is an album that will appeal to a wide audience of progressive fans. From hard symphonic pieces like 'Ignition' to classical chamber music like 'The High Priestess', or even Zeuhl ('Magmatron' – my tribute to Magma), it covers a wide palette of textures and styles.
“Although the only way to get this album is by subscribing, subscription is so low that there is really very little difference compared to a standard purchase. The most economic subscription is the Semester Option, that costs 16.98 euros per semester (2.83 euros/month). Since you can cancel the subscription at anytime, you can subscribe, request the album, and for only 5 euros more (assuming the average cost of an album is 12 euros shipping included) you will have 6 months to enjoy all of Phaedrus' private contents and cancel the subscription if you are not interested. The album of course, is yours to keep. So, almost for the price of an ordinary album, you will have a collector's item.”
You can get the album, and listen to excerpts of all the pieces, visiting: www.phaedrus.es/triptych
