Hawkwind Legend Nik Turner Releases New Album Space Fusion Odyssey Feat. Members of The Doors, Gong, Soft Machine, Amon Düül II and Others!

Featuring guest appearances by Billy Cobham, Robby Krieger, Steve Hillage, Gilli Smyth, John Etheridge, John Weinzierl and others!

Los Angeles - Following the release in 2013 of the most acclaimed album of his solo career, Space Gypsy, Nik Turner is pleased to announced the release of the follow up album Space Fusion Odyssey, out now on Cleopatra Records.

Space Fusion Odyssey is without a doubt the most musically ambitious undertaking Turner has ever attempted, stretching his already prodigious saxophone and flute playing skills to create instrumental soundscapes that entrance, confound, and stimulate all at the same time. As with many of his previous releases, Turner has surrounded himself with an incredible crew of fellow musicians who help him bring his vision to life. Dubbed the Interplanetary Arkestra (hat tip to Sun Ra), the group includes some of the most gifted and groundbreaking musicians of his generation such as legendary jazz drummer Billy Cobham, Doors' guitarist Robby Krieger, Steve Hillage & Gilli Smyth of Gong, Soft Machine’s John Etheridge, Amon Düül II founder John Weinzierl and many more! Space Fusion Odyssey is set to land in July of this year courtesy of Purple Pyramid Records.

The album sees Turner depart on a whole new kind of spaceship, a musical project that finally frees him from the gravitational pull of traditional rock music orbits and launches into new stratospheres of jazz, blues, fusion, and other eclectic styles heretofore unknown to man.

Check out the video for “Hypernova” featuring some truly mind blowing guitar work from both Robby Krieger and Megadeth's Chris Poland:

Space Fusion Odyssey tracks:
1. Adjust The Future
2. Hypernova
3. Spiritual Machines
4. Pulsar
5. An Elliptical Galaxy
6. A Beautiful Vision in Science Forgotten
7. We Came in Peace
8. Interstellar Clouds
9. Spiritual Machines Chapter 2
10. Random Acts

Following the albums release, later in the year The Spirit Of Hawkwind 1969-1976 will be published, the definitive biography of Hawkwind’s early years as told through the eyes of Nik Turner and written by music historian Dave Thompson. The hardcover book contains over 250 pages of rare and unseen photos as well as a comprehensive discography - a feast for Hawkwind fans everywhere.

Hawkwind Co-Founder Nik Turner Pilots A New Video From His Groundbreaking New Album Space Fusion Odyssey!

Los Angeles, CA - “I have traveled far from another place…come to learn from your race…” Nik Turner intones at the outset of “Adjust The Future,” the lead off track from his forthcoming space-rock/jazz-fusion magnum opus Space Fusion Odyssey, scheduled for launch on October 16. The track, like the album as a whole, features Turner’s complex, jazzy improvisations on saxophone with support provided by an insanely talented and diverse group of musicians including Steve Hillage and Gilli Smyth of ‘70s prog legends Gong as well as Chris Poland of metal giant Megadeth and Jürgen Engler of German industrial band Die Krupps. The video mixes footage of Turner with some mindblowing experimental video manipulations that harken back to the psychedelic backdrops Turner’s former band Hawkwind would frequently perform in front of.

Check out the video for “Adjust The Future” here:

Nik Turner Debuts A Visionary New Song/Video From His Bold New Solo Album!

Los Angeles, CA - In 2013, Nik Turner released the most acclaimed album of his solo career, Space Gypsy, the intergalactically acclaimed masterpiece that found this Hawkwind co-founder returning to his space rock roots alongside fellow Hawkwind alumnus Simon House and others. Nik Turner's Hawkwind To Tour North America With Witch Mountain And Hedersleben This Summer/Fall 2014!

Los Angeles, CA - In the spirit of the critically acclaimed and historic 'Space Ritual' tour of 1973, Nik Turner's Hawkwind plan to blow minds on their sonic and visually stimulating journey on their 2014 North American tour with Portland's own Witch Mountain and SF bay area Krautrockers Hedersleben. Starting in August, this package tour is not to be missed by anyone, in hopes to enlighten and inspire both people who have witnessed last year's tour or any of Nik's tours prior and the first timers, bringing sonic traditions of old to the forefront of 2014. Attendees and Nik Turner's Hawkind fans will not be disappointed. Though staying true to the spirit of Space Ritual as a concept, don't be surprised to hear other classics, songs off of the 2013 release 'Space Gypsy' album and perhaps a new song or two as Nik Turner prepares to return to the studio after the tour. Nik also has a new fusion project forthcoming featuring Billy Cobham and Chris Poland (Megadeth) later this year.

“This tour is the essence of space-rock, the extra-terrestrial, inter-galactic, orgasmic embodiment of the loving and healing vibrations, and the rocking music of the spheres, flame on, one love.” - Nik Turner

Witch Mountain

“Witch Mountain is thrilled to follow up its Summer tour of Europe with the release of latest album Mobile of Angels, and tour in support of the legendary Nik Turner's Hawkwind. We feel sure that our music will be 'out there' enough to reach the heads, and Nik Turner and co will sufficiently rock our fans in turn. It's a match made in Hell and we can't wait to hit the road.”

Hedersleben

Year 1 report...“It was the same time last year that Hedersleben accompanied Nik Turner on a space trek around the USA promoting their debut album 'Upgoer'. Since then the crew have not been resting on their cosmic sofa rather they’ve pressed on to new and exciting ventures, including completing the next Brainticket album as the legendary Joel Vandroogenbroeck’s side-kicks (including many writing credits), launched their first headline tour of the west coast, preformed a showcase with special guest Captain Sensible from the Damned, (See the Hedersleben Facebook page for footage) and not least recorded their 2nd album 'Die Neuen Welten'.

'Die Neuen Welten', featuring the epic side long “Zu Den Neuen Welten”, (Youtube video scheduled for mid August), celebrates the Kepler mission space telescopes discoveries of more than 2000 exoplanets. DNW also boasts the studio version of stage favorite “(On The Ground) Safe and Sound”. The album is mixed by Jürgen Engler of Die Krupps.

Prog fans look out for further large sections of Hedersleben’s 3rd album, slated for recording early next year, as part of this tours set. 'The Fall Of Chronopolis', based on the book of the same name by Barrington J. Bayley, is distinctly more progressive in the tradition of the great early prog concept album. See you in August or September” - Nicky Garratt
