On her fifth album, Wonders in the Deep, Mary-Kathryn blends elements of soft pop, New Age and folk with world music influences as diverse as the continents to create a spiritual amalgam that transcends musical boundaries. Delving deep into the world music realm, Mary-Kathryn paints word pictures on an aural canvas with exotic instrumentation, adroit production, and lyrics that stir the spirit and excite the imagination. “Hear My Cry,” the opening number of the 10-song album, begins acapella, relying solely on Mary-Kathryn’s fetching vocals to engage the listener, before segueing into driving, rhythmic percussions and understated strings. earthy instrumentation with ethereal vocals to produce a visceral, vicarious spiritual encounter.

The D/A Method hails from Karachi Pakistan and however far you may be away from where they reside, there is no distance between them, listeners, and their own brand of progressive rock. Music is universal like that, its makes us one world, a union of souls with a love for music.

With their recently released taster EP Janissaries,  which is the focus of this feature, they serve up over 9 minutes of rockin' progressive diversity. I think if they were looking to show what they bring to the table this was a good choice.

The track features marvelous instrumentation, an ever changing pace and fantastic vocals. It's the whole package. This clearly defines progressive rock in every way.

The McCormick Percussion Group is an intriguing prospect for music enthusiasts looking for something different and challenging. The featured track is "Between Rock and a Hard Place I-Hard Light-Hybrid Night." 

It's where classical meets heavy metal and although it is very percussive in nature I think that metal fans will find interest in hearing this interesting composition. It clocks in at just over nine minutes.

The intent is clear here, to present classical music with a different twist to garner interest from a large cross section of listeners. That mission is accomplished and the track will challenge and inspire aspiring and expereinced musicians alike.

He has won many awards for his teaching and percussion composition.  He served as Principal Percussionist of the Florida Orchestra for 20 seasons, and is a former member of the Harry Partch Ensemble. Stone Ticket and the voice of Vince Quinn packs one powerful punch! I loved the drive and energy "Black" has. Its juggernaut bass and drums and the hard rocking rhythmic guitar are hard to resist. Putting rhythm and such a hard rockin' sound together does not always work, it does here! I wouldn't change a thing on this track, simply put, its killer! It is Rock influenced by Blues and you can't beat it. If you dig bone crunching rock with tough vocals to match jump aboard this train!
