Cairo Announce New Singer, New Single and Special Gig Date

Sarah Bayley has left Cairo due to other commitments. She leaves wishing the band all the best. On behalf of the band, Rob Cottingham, band founder, advised: “We would like to thank Sarah for the last four years. We had fun along the way, and wish her the very best of luck for the future.

“In happier news, we were blown away by this lady's voice recently and we are delighted to announce that Kat (pictured) has joined the band on vocals.

“She is ready to gig our existing material and is already working on new songs with us. Kat has an amazing voice and tone, and we would ask you all to warmly welcome her into the band, and into our prog family.”

Kat advises: “I was intrigued by Cairo’s music and instantly fell in love with the song ‘Glow’. Joining the band is different; exciting and an amazing adventure that I am thrilled to be a part of.”

In further news, Rob announces: “We are also pleased to release our brand new single 'Salvation' featuring Kat on vocals, and which will feature on our next album - details of which will be published in due course. We hope you enjoy our new song and video.”

“We are also excited to announce a special one-off Nemesis Show on the 29th October when we invite you to party with us at Unit Nine in Milton Keynes https://www.unitninemk.com/ and to welcome Kat to the band. We will be playing the whole of the Nemesis album - plus some old favourites and some brand new material.”

The venue has an amazing state of the art sound and lighting system unique to the area and is situated right by a train station making it easily accessible for all - and has plenty of parking, too.

“We are also delighted to say that our special guests are Square Wild who will most definitely add to the party atmosphere. See more about them here: https://www.squarewildband.com/
This will be a very special one night only event for 2023 as we are in the process of writing our third album and planning a U.K. tour next year, so please get behind us and don't miss this!
Please support us; the venue and live music by booking your tickets in advance, it honestly helps more than you know.”

All tickets are available now direct from cairorocks.com/gigs page or from the venue. https://www.skiddle.com/whats-on/Milton-Keynes/Unit-Nine/Cairo-with-special-guests-Square-Wild/36652678/

Prog Ensemble CAIRO To Release 2nd Album “Nemesis” on May 5, 2023

The eagerly anticipated follow up album from 5-piece award winning progressive rock band CAIRO “Nemesis” will be released on May 5th on Spirit of Unicorn Music.

This studio album, recorded with John Mitchell at Outhouse Studios, taps into contemporary global concerns and demonstrates the band's impressive, genre-defying approach with menacing, angular riffs, pop rock hooks and electronic soundscapes that all beautifully complement powerful and emotive vocals.

In this exciting and purposefully eclectic new album, the band venture into familiar ‘CAIRO rocks’ territory with the dynamic, moving epics. There are also some exciting departures for the band venturing into more melodic rock areas with “The Love” and “Glow,” and upbeat banger “Jumping On The Moon.”

Artwork is by Paul Tippett (It Bites, Frost, Kino, Twelfth Night, Pendragon, Europe, Inglorious, Uriah Heep), with additional artwork consultancy from Andrew Wildman (Marvel Comics, Transformers, X-Men; storyboard artist for Doctor Who; Luther, Poldark).

There is also even a short keys-based orchestral instrumental, “Save The Earth,” which doffs a cap to the likes of the sadly, recently departed Vangelis, and acts as a prologue into the title track.

Track List
1. Asleep At The Wheel
2. Tripwire
3. Glow
4. Rogue
5. The Love
6. New Beauty
7. Déjà Vu
8. Jumping On The Moon
9. Save The Earth
10. Nemesis

CAIRO is thrilled to announce that they will be playing the PROGDREAMS VII Festival at the Boerderij in Holland in the first weekend of March next year.

On behalf of the band, Rob stated: “At a personal level, I have wanted to play this venue for many years, having heard such great things about it – but never managed to get over there, so I am really looking forward to this. For the band, our Dutch market is the second biggest market for our CD sales in Europe after the UK. We have also had some stunning reviews in IOPages and Progwereld, so our music seems to be going down well over there, and we have been keen to find just such an opportunity. It will, therefore, be an absolute pleasure for Lisa, James, Paul, Graham and I to get over to Holland, make new friends and blow the roof off. We are all tremendously excited as this will also be the band’s first ever foreign jaunt – what a fantastic way to get our international gigs started.”
