O.R.k. Announce Details of New Album Ramagehead Set For Release Through Kscope on February 22, 2019

Highly accomplished band includes award-winning composer /vocalist Lorenzo Esposito Fornasari, King Crimson's Pat Mastelotto and Porcupine Tree's Colin Edwin

Album features special guest vocalist System Of A Down's Serj Tankian

Confirmed live headline shows throughout Europe & UK for early 2019 + support to The Pineapple Thief

O.R.k., comprising some of contemporary music's most revered artists, have combined their creative forces once again for a new studio album; their first for the ground-breaking UK label Kscope; O.R.k's Ramagehead will be released on 22nd February 2019.

The band feature Italy's celebrated vocalist, producer and award-winning film score composer Lorenzo Esposito Fornasari a.k.a LEF (lead vocals), King Crimson's Pat Mastelotto (drums), Porcupine Tree's Colin Edwin (bass), Marta Sui Tubi's Carmelo Pipitone (guitars); Ramagehead also features a superstar collaboration in the form of Grammy Award-winner Serj Tankian of System of a Down, who is undoubtedly one of metal's greatest and most renowned vocalists.

Penned following their headline European tour in support of their second album, 2017's Soul of an Octopus; Ramagehead was forged from the band's collective vision, unique influences and a multi-layered reflection of their powerful and engaging live experience. The result contains all the ingredients of a fiery O.R.k. performance with dark and heavy riffing, mesmeric atmospheres and lyrics that reveal the band's bewilderment brought about by our modern world: a world of information overload, of uncertainty and post-truth messages. Bass player Colin Edwin explains further, “Ramagehead is a not a concept album as such, but there is certainly an identifiable theme, in that we attempt to express the everyday bewilderment bought about by the uncertain times we are living in, and the constant confusing information overload that we are all subjected to in today's post-fact environment. We also wanted to harness the power, unpredictability and spontaneity of the O.R.k. live experience into a static recording whilst aiming for a high-resolution sonic space that can be revisited repeatedly by the avid listener to discover ever deeper layers.”

Recorded during 2018 at LefMusicStudio (Italy), The Wormhole (USA) and Nightspace (UK). The mixing for Ramagehead was handled by Adrian Benavides and three-time Grammy-winning engineer Marc Urselli (U2, Foo Fighters, Nick Cave), the mastering by Michael Fossenkemper, engineering by Benavides and Bill Munyon (King Crimson), cover art by Adam Jones (TOOL) and design by Denis Rodier (Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman). The recordings, and involvement of SOAD's Serj Tankian on the forthcoming single, “Black Blooms”, solidifies the band's serious intent to use their musical chemistry in exploring the hard-edged possibilities within rock.

O.R.k. have an extensive live campaign planned in support of Ramagehead which will begin in February 2019 with a European and UK head line run as well as being special guests on the continuing “Dissolution Tour” from new label mates The Pineapple Thief.

Colin Edwin comments “Ramagehead is our most intense, ambitious and accessible work to date and I am really looking forward to exploring the new material in a live environment and sharing our unique collective energy together. Tangerine Dream to Release Quantum Gate / Quantum Key 2CD Set on April 20th Through Kscope

The celebrated studio album celebrating 50 years of Tangerine Dream now complete with Quantum Key EP

Following the release of Tangerine Dream’s latest studio album, Quantum Gate, Kscope are set to release the album as a 2CD set with the inclusion of the EP Quantum Key.

Quantum Gate released on September 29th 2017, to coincide and celebrate the 50th anniversary of the foundation of the band, was the first studio album since the passing of Edgar Froese Tangerine Dream's visionary founder, by the remaining band members Thorsten Quaeschning, Ulrich Schnauss and Hoshiko Yamane.

The Quantum Key EP preceded Quantum Gate, and both delivered an updated, contemporary development of their trademark sound: sequencer-driven electronica covering a wide range of moods and atmospheres from ambient soundscapes to energetic, upbeat moments. The Quantum Years material began as a concept and series of musical sketches by Froese before he passed away in 2015. Remaining band members Thorsten Quaeschning, Ulrich Schnauss and Hoshiko Yamane worked together to realize Edgar's visions and expectations of a conceptual body of work that attempts to translate quantum physics and philosophy into music. New member Ulrich Schnauss comments: “At the moment hardly any other area of science questions our concept of reality (linearity of time etc.) as profoundly as research in Quantum physics - it's no surprise therefore that Edgar was drawn to these ideas since he had always aimed at reminding listeners of the existence of 'unopened doors'.”

This version of Quantum Gate with the inclusion of Quantum Key EP, brings together Edgar's vision as a 2disc set for the first time.

Tangerine Dream have been a fundamental influence on electronic and progressive music since their formation in West Berlin, 1967. Japan and Porcupine Tree Keyboardist Richard Barbieri Set To Release New Studio Album Planets + Persona via Kscope on March 3, 2017

Album teaser clip launched!

London - Legendary Japan and Porcupine Tree keyboardist Richard Barbieri releases his most sonically expansive work to date, with a brand new album entitled Planets + Persona. It is the third Barbieri solo album, but the first to feature such a wide pallet of instrumentation. Vintage analogue synthesizers combine with acoustic performances and jazz elements. Twisted voices are always present, though not in a language we can recognize. Barbieri skilfully utilizes the talents of a pan-European core of musicians to produce an album that marries synthesized sounds with organic instrumentation to conjure up vivid, colourful and allusive soundscapes. It's a skillful commingling of texture and tone, mood and musicality.

Fans can have a taste of Planets + Persona here with a teaser of all 7 album tracks:

Recorded in London, Italy and Sweden, this is Barbieri's most ambitious solo work to date with a central theme of duality that runs through the album. The title alone – “Planets and Persona” alludes to this, and the dialectic theme is a constant throughout the contrasting and shape-shifting sounds of the album. Take, for example, Night of the Hunter – inspired by Charles Laughton's only directorial movie, the piece moves through subtle shifts of atmosphere and emphasis, through melodic, dream-like sequences through to harsher tones; it's a piece that builds to a profound cumulative effect. Elsewhere, Solar Storm shifts gears artfully, with Percy Jones' sometimes percussive bass work contrasting to the smoother synthesizer textures incisively. Barbieri's purely solo Interstellar Medium shows that his ability to develop and realize a theme under his own auspices that underscores his innate creativity. It's but one aspect of a thoroughly engrossing and immersive album.

Planets + Persona tracklisting:
Solar Sea (07:30)
New Found Land (07:17)
Night Of The Hunter (10:44)
Interstellar Medium (05:38)
Unholy (08:58)
Shafts Of Light (06:39)
Solar Storm (06:22])

As an ex-founder of the new-wave pioneers Japan, Barbieri was a leader in creating the ground-breaking synthesizer sound that defined the band and influenced the likes of The Human League, Duran Duran, Gary Numan, Talk Talk and a whole raft of artists to follow. Together, the band recorded five studio albums culminating in the groundbreaking Tin Drum, which stayed in the UK Albums Chart for a year.

Following Japan, and a decade of collaborations on his own Medium label, Barbieri joined Steven Wilson's Porcupine Tree, playing keyboards on all the band's albums since 1993 as well as releasing two striking solo albums: Things Buried and Stranger Inside.

His ear for composing unique soundscapes and synth textures has led to collaboration albums with other talented composers, such as Steve Hogarth (Marillion) Steve Jansen & Mick Karn (Japan) and Tim Bowness (No-Man)

Planets+ Persona will be released on the following formats – all available to pre-order now here: http://found.ee/RB_PLANETS_PERSONA

In June, Wisdom of Crowds, the debut album from the partnership of Bruce Soord with Jonas Renkse was released. Bruce is best known as the frontman of The Pineapple Thief, while Jonas is lead vocalist with Katatonia.
The album was named as one of The Guardian's albums of the year who described it as 'a mesmerising and melancholy exercise in wonderfully subtle song craft’. Rocksound stated it was, 'steeped in pedigree, immersive and gracefully executed’, Metal Hammer said it was 'the sound of two supremely talented artists snatching magic from the ether’ (9/10) while Kerrang! declared it ‘a bit of a corker'.

2013 has been an incredible year for Steven Wilson. In February he released The Raven That Refused To Sing (And Other Stories), his third solo album. The album was a huge critical and commercial success, earning numerous 5 star reviews and charting well across the world, debuting at #3 in the German national chart, #28 in the UK top 40, #57 in the US Billboard top 200, #16 in Holland and #17 in Finland. The album has since been named album of the year at the Progressive awards and #1 in the Prog magazine critic's choice poll.
Steven assembled a virtuoso band to record the album and subsequently embarked on a successful world tour. The band, currently made-up of Guthrie Govan (guitar), Adam Holzman (keyboards), Theo Travis (flute / sax), Nick Beggs (bass / stick), and Chad Wackerman (drums). Early pioneers of Norwegian black metal, Ulver have continually evolved throughout their career and now inhabit a place entirely their own, blending rock, pop, electronica, symphonic and classical traditions along with progressive and/or avant-garde forms to create ground-breaking material.
The diversity of the band and the projects that they undertake was evident in their two releases on Kscope during 2013.
In April a CD +DVD set was released which captured the band's landmark gig at The Norwegian Opera House. The 2 hour concert married tracks from throughout the band's catalogue to stunning visuals to create a spectacle fitting for such a grand venue. The evening was captured on 6 HD cameras and the audio has been mixed for this release in the band's own Crystal Canyon Studios.

This was followed later in the year with Messe I.X–VI.X, a new studio album. Messe I.X–VI.X was commissioned last year by the Tromsø Kulturhus (House of Culture) in Norway, in a cooperation with the Arctic Opera and Philharmonic Orchestra cultural institution. It was composed and first performed live by Ulver, alongside the Tromsø Chamber Orchestra on September 21 2012. The band then took the recordings back to Oslo and spent winter and spring in post-production, honing the material for its studio-equivalent.

North Atlantic Oscillation are currently working on their third album which will be released on Kscope in 2014. Before they started this process Sam Healy, NAO's frontman and songwriter, released Sand, the self titled debut album from his new solo project.
Sand allowed Healy to experiment with ideas and themes which he didn't feel would work on a NAO album and it was described by The Big Issue as 'a bright, bold kaleidoscopic album that makes the Super Furry Animals sound as pedestrian as The Libertines' (FOUR STARS)

Here is ‘Liferaft’, a previously unreleased track from the album sessions.

Dark Age, the follow-up to 2008’s The Flax of Reverie, was rated as one of the top 50 albums of 2012 by The Quietus, who described it as, 'a startling, frank examination of the human (and perhaps especially male) condition delivered via synth bombast and towering choruses'. The NME stated; 'listening to 'Dark Age' can feel like sensory immersion... the album transcends genre, yet takes elements from the dark shadows of industrial rock and the glitch of electronica...it's a beguiling affair', while Wire noted that 'O'Sullivan is steadily carving a niche for himself as a highly accomplished avant-pop polymath.'
