A standout track from the album, “Junkies To The News” delivers a biting commentary on media obsession and cultural overload, wrapped in the band’s signature blend of garage rock grit and modern edge. The video promises a visually arresting experience that amplifies the song’s message with raw intensity and cinematic flair.  The song becomes anthemic much in the way Oasis's do at times.  But they are not like Oasis.  Oasis is like them.  They were first.

SYRINX - Heavy moods. Hard grooves. Progressive fire from the fringe.

Born in the shadows of a slanted farmhouse outside Vancouver, SYRINX is a heavy metal/progressive rock collective led by guitarist, producer, Graham McGee. Known for their theatrical flair and cerebral songwriting, the band delivers a fresh and unique blend of oldschool heavymetal and classic prog wizardry — echoing the likes of Rush, Genesis, Fates Warning, Queensrÿche, and Judas Priest.

SYRINX began over a decade ago when McGee met powerhouse vocalist Jean-Pierre Abboud (JP) during a wild 30-date Canadian tour with their former band Funeral Circle. When that group folded, the two set their sights on a more expansive sonic path — moving away from gothic and occult themes into deeper, more musically daring territory. From this shift, SYRINX emerged. After their first two releases in 2019 and 2020, SYRINX went dormant as McGee battled a severe case of Lyme disease, stepping away from music entirely. But the silence didn't last. Returning with renewed fire, McGee unexpectedly linked up with drummer Seth Lyon—whose precision, creativity, and shared love of odd time signatures (and black coffee... and Rush) sparked an instant chemistry. In the foothills of the Pacific West Coast mountains, SYRINX breathed again.

Their upcoming sophomore LP Time Out of Place was nearly derailed just weeks before recording when their bassist unexpectedly left the band. But rather than crumble, the band saw it as an opportunity. Enter Bobby Shock — a multi-instrumentalist from New Jersey who slid effortlessly into the SYRINX groove and smashed it out of the park on incredibly short notice. A fully aligned creative energy, Bobby is SYRINX in every way — and his presence elevated the album to a whole new level.

The band’s lineup now includes Graham McGee (guitar/synths), JP (vocals), Seth Lyon (drums), and Bobby Shock (bass/synth), with supporting vocals from Lady Chanelle, McGee’s wife a gifted vocalist whose harmonies add dimension and grace to the band's already diverse sound. McGee and Shock also both wield Moog Taurus pedals and synths live, giving the band a crushing live presence rarely matched on modern stages!

Despite being spread across Vancouver, Denver, and New Jersey, the members work with focused intensity whenever they’re physically together.

Prog Artist Leon Alvarado Announces New Video For “The Changing Tide”

Acclaimed musician Leon Alvarado is thrilled to announce the upcoming release of the official video for the title track of his critically praised album, “The Changing Tide.” Set to premiere on Friday, September 20th, the video showcases mesmerizing visual sequences created by video artist Nuutti Kataja, marking an exciting collaboration between the two artists.

Reflecting on the new project, Alvarado shares, “In my previous video, we explored some really immersive imagery, where viewers felt as though they were stepping into a surrealistic painting. For this new video, I wanted to push the boundaries even further by blending a more realistic feel within a fantastical setting. Nuutti and I worked closely on gathering reference material and discussing different approaches to bring the scenes to life. When we ran some initial tests, I knew we were onto something special. The final sequences are stunning and flow seamlessly with the music. Nuutti did an outstanding job translating our vision into a visual masterpiece.”

Alvarado also commented on the use of modern technology in the creative process: “There’s a lot of debate around artificial intelligence, but I believe that when used properly, it can enable incredible visuals that might otherwise be prohibitively expensive to achieve. In the right hands, it can be a powerful tool for creativity.”

Musically, the video highlights Alvarado takes on drums, keyboards, and bass, while Edoardo Scordo, guitarist from Brit Floyd, lends his skill on guitar and slide guitar. The track was mixed and produced by Alvarado, with final mastering by renowned engineer Maor Appelbaum.

Following the overwhelming positive reaction to the video for “Shine On”, Jon Anderson and The Band Geeks today premiere the second video from their forthcoming album TRUE for the song “True Messenger”. “True Messenger” along with “Shine On” and album track “Thank God” have been part of the live set since the first date of the current summer tour. Additionally, one of the album’s epic tracks, “Counties And Countries” is played nightly during the intermission of the show over the venue’s PA system.

Metal Legend THOR Releases 5th Video Single From Power Loaded Album “Ride of the Iron Horse”

In the midst of leg one of their 2024 tour, Jon Anderson and The Band Geeks today premiere the video for the song “Shine On”, the first single from their forthcoming album “TRUE” which will be released on August 23rd. The video was filmed in New Jersey before the start of the tour and directed by Tom Flynn. The song has been performed nightly on the tour and has received universal positive response.

Legendary NYC New Wave Band The Shirts Return with Infectious New Single and Video “Move On Groove On”

New York, NY – After a 13-year hiatus, iconic New York City band The Shirts are back with a vengeance. The band, which first rose to prominence in the late '70s CBGB scene, returns with “Move On Groove On,” a blistering new single that captures the raw energy and infectious hooks that made them a favorite of that era.

“Move On Groove On,” along with the evocative “Deux Royale,” marks the first taste of new music from The Shirts since their critically acclaimed 2010 album, The Tiger Must Jump. The single finds the band, who released three influential albums with Capitol Records (Harvest in the UK) – The Shirts (1978), Street Light Shine (1979), and Inner Sleeve (1980) – firing on all cylinders. They deliver a potent blend of their signature new wave and angular guitar power pop, infused with balladry that exudes a fresh yet nostalgic edge.

Accompanying the single is a kinetic music video for “Move On Groove On,” showcasing the band's enduring stage presence and the song's undeniable groove. Directed by Vince Misiano, the video has the band playing in a hip New York City club, a nod to their roots, pulsating with the same energy that made them a live force to be reckoned with.

The Shirts' reunion, sparked by a chance meeting of Bob and Annie on a street in Park Slope, Brooklyn in Oct 2023 brings together surviving original members and longtime collaborators. Lead singer Annie Golden, who has since enjoyed a successful acting career in TV, film, and theater, most notably on Broadway where she received a Grammy in 2022 for Into The Woods (cast album singing Stephen Sondheim) unites with bassist Robert Racioppo, an accomplished painter. Guitarist Arthur Lamonica, who writes, records and actively performs with his band Rome 56, also rejoins the fold. Fans will recall Lamonica penned their 1978 hit “Tell Me Your Plans,” which brought the band considerable success, particularly in the Netherlands, where Rome 56 continues to tour regularly alongside dates in New York and the UK. John Piccolo contributed most recently on recordings and videos with Frank’s Museum, Mike West and Caren Messing. Annie Golden dedicates her participation to John Rost, Jr. “JR” – friend, filmmaker, photographer and Shirts archivist whom we lost in 2023.

Later this year, a 7” vinyl single of  “Move On Groove On” c/w “Deux Royale” will be released via Think Like A Key Music, a fitting addition to their eclectic series featuring the likes of Andy Bown, Blossom Toes, and Arthur Brown.

Prog Ensemble Circuline Releases Official Video For New Single “All”

Prog ensemble Circuline’s 2024 “C.O.R.E.” Virtual Tour began Friday, January 12th, 2024, and will consist of 57 events in 48 weeks, with Single releases, Lyric videos, Official videos, “Behind the Scenes” videos, and Livestream Q&A events where the band is able to connect with their fans around the world.

Says keyboardist Andrew Colyer, “With this international virtual tour, we have two goals: 1.) We want to get our music exposed to as many people as possible, to continue to grow our fan base worldwide. 2.) We want to deepen our relationships with the fans who are the most passionate. Releasing singles, lyric videos, and Official Videos accomplishes the first goal, and by doing these in-depth, ‘Behind the Scenes’ videos, we accomplish the second goal. Packaging everything together into a single 12-month celebration of the new album will hopefully capture more attention for future opportunities for live performing and touring, with this fantastic new lineup.”

Says Andrew about the new video, “I had worked with Don Chaffin of DCity Productions twice before, with the progressive metal band Awaken. Don and his team are amazing, so I knew that they would do a great job of capturing our personalities, as well as the intensity of our music, and translate that with the editing into something cinematic that we could be proud of.  We got the entire band here for a week in August 2023, and shot six Official Music Videos in five days!  For this particular video, we chose to shoot on Don’s soundstage, with some concert-style lighting and fog machines. This is one of the more “progressive” songs on the record, so it was really nice to have the crew doing closeups during the extended instrumental section of the song.  When we shot this video, we were playing to the rough mix of the song, and Dave was actually improvising some of his guitar parts, which were not fully flushed out for the record.  When we recorded his final tracks, we used the B-roll that his wife Sharon filmed, so Dave could record the guitar parts that he had created during the video shoot!  We had a ton of fun that day, and discussed all the details in our “Behind the Official Video” episodes. We got the entire band here for a week in August 2023, and shot six Official Music Videos in five days!  The rest of the videos for this 2024 CORE Virtual Tour are being produced in other creative ways.  We’ve had so much fun creating all of the videos for this Virtual Tour - we’ve been “on location” in basement dungeons, on rivers, in parking lots, and on soundstage studios.   This has been a lot of work, and a ton of fun!  We hope the fans enjoy it.”

Six years in the making, Circuline’s new album “C.O.R.E.”, released on the Inner Nova Music label on Friday, September 20th, 2024, will be available as an album of eight tracks available in a gatefold digipak CD, with an eight-page booklet of lyrics and liner notes. The album explores themes in romantic relationships, surviving abuse, finding one’s own personal power, and the turbulent times in which we live.

We are excited for people to see who we have evolved into. We are so lucky and grateful to have the multi-talented Dave Bainbridge and Shelby Logan Warne as musicians and producers as part of our team, we wanted to take advantage of their skill sets as much as possible! Having Shelby film and produce this beautiful music video was one of the best things that we could think of, so that fans, industry professionals, booking agents, and festival promoters could see us in a new light.”

Says Andrew about the new video, “When we last toured England opening for IO Earth, we worked with Crystal Spotlight to capture our show when we played at Trading Boundaries. Shelby is the one who filmed and produced that content! We wound up releasing the Official Video for the song ‘Summit’, and Shelby did a fantastic job on that. Plus she’s been producing fantastic videos for her own band Kyros, so we knew we would be in good hands, asking her to produce one of Circuline’s new Official Videos. With the title of the song being ‘Third Rail’, it alludes to the electrical supply that moves trains. If you touch or fall on that conductor rail, your body will conduct the electricity to a level which is sufficient to give an electric shock that can kill you or give you severe burns. Since we have the Rhinecliff and Poughkeepsie train stations within a 20-minute drive, I thought those would be some interesting locations for the video shoot. We had a ton of fun that day, which included some excitement from local characters and the police! We discuss those kinds of fun and antics in our ‘Behind the Official Video’ episodes. We got the entire band here for a week in August 2023, and shot six Official Music Videos in five days! The rest of the videos for this 2024 CORE Virtual Tour are being produced in other creative ways. We’ve had so much fun creating all of the videos for this Virtual Tour - we’ve been ‘on location” in basement dungeons, on rivers, in parking lots, and on soundstage studios. This has been a lot of work, and a ton of fun! We hope the fans enjoy it.”

Six years in the making, Circuline’s new album “C.O.R.E.”, released on the Inner Nova Music label on Friday, September 20th, 2024, will be available as an album of eight tracks available in a gatefold digipak CD, with an eight-page booklet of lyrics and liner notes. US Progger Leon Alvarado Unveils Two-Song EP “Brain Damage” and Mesmerizing Video Ahead of Upcoming Album

Renowned prog artist Leon Alvarado is set to captivate fans once again with the release of a two-song EP, offering a tantalizing glimpse into his forthcoming album slated for release later this year. The EP features a stunning cover of Pink Floyd’s “Brain Damage,” marking Alvarado’s first release since his critically acclaimed electronic prog album, “Charging The Electric Dream,” debuted last year.

Known for his innovative approach to music, Alvarado collaborated with a group of talented local musicians for this project, infusing their live cover rendition of “Brain Damage” with a fresh, studio-produced sound. Mastered by the acclaimed Maor Appelbaum, the track promises to deliver a unique blend of nostalgia and contemporary flair.

In addition to “Brain Damage,” the EP includes a captivating new instrumental track titled “Dance of The Pink Elephants.” Exploring the theme of alcohol hallucinosis, Alvarado's latest creation blends psychedelic tones with intricate melodies, offering listeners a mesmerizing auditory experience. The track features Tony Franklin (The Firm) on fretless bass and Edoardo Scordo on guitars.

Pushing the boundaries of creativity even further, Alvarado turned to cutting-edge AI technology to produce a visually stunning video for the EP. Created by a studio in Serbia, the video features surrealistic imagery inspired by the unconscious mind, perfectly complementing the ethereal quality of the music.

Speaking about the video, Alvarado remarked, “I wanted to create visuals that felt like a journey through a surrealistic painting, and AI was the perfect tool to bring that vision to life. The result is truly mesmerizing, and I can't wait for fans to experience it.”
