Prog Rock Featured Artist: Freedom To Glide

Freedom To Glide is the superb duo from the UK of Peter Riley and Andy Nixon that take the best of several genres which include rock, prog and crossover prog and deliver it with style and grace. You can call it whatever you like, I prefer to call it really good music. It is a simple deviation from the norm, for the sake of any argument of what people want to say it is, plain and simple...quality music pretty much covers it. The other very important factor here is their new album Rain which is a tribute to anyone's life that has been changed forever by the tragedy of war. War is brutal, tragic and inhumane. It takes a human being and turns them into a killing machine.

Rain is a prolific musical statement and a very socially aware event that comes at you in 15 tracks backed with a musical layer that is so profound that it takes the lyrics to another level and gives them the meaning the band intended to. The story is told and the picture is painted on life's canvas with eloquence, beauty and the sheer tragedy of war. They are unlikely bedfellows but it all works. I found it all very moving emotionally and the music is quite beautiful and appropriate at all times.

Rain is a classic album by two gents that got together after playing in a Pink Floyd tribute band called Dark Side of the Wall. You will hear the Pink Floyd influence right out the gate and throughout the new album. The music really does give you the Freedom to Glide and hopefully it gives those suffering from the effects of war that relief as well. Sit back and have your self a good listen now to the Bandcamp media player provided by the band. You will never forget the music and words to this recording!
