Sweet Honey In the Rock was founded in 1973 at the Black Reparation Theater Company in Washington D.C. Since then, the group has become an international symbol of hope, faith and love. The group is comprised of Ysaye Maria Barnwell, Nitanju Bolade Casel, Aisha Kahlil, Carol Maillard, Louise Robinson, and Shirley Childress Saxton (Sign Language Interpreter).
