Spreading his wings in the indie world, mntgmry reveals 'Fire Bird'

Back with another string to his ever-growing collection mntgmry reveals funktastic new single ‘Fire Bird’. An uplifting, nu-funk single that feels like the offspring of mntgmry’s previous releases, the message behind the new release is hard-hitting. Receiving praise from the likes of EARMILK and Daily Advent, mntgmry is certainly an artist going from strength to strength.

Speaking about the new release, mntgmry shares, “Fire Bird is a song of protest against the Russian invasion of Ukraine. It is hard not to feel completely powerless when faced with images of such unnecessary violence and loss of human life. But as an artist I feel one way that I can contribute to this terrible conflict is to help empower Ukrainians fighting for their country.

This song was created to boost the morale of Ukrainian soldiers and citizens fighting against this heartless and cowardly invasion. It contains some controversial language and themes, but a person’s right to safety and autonomy is unquestionable, and it is always ok to defend oneself.”

Prominently based around a pop arrangement, ‘Fire Bird’ is an exceptional ear-worm that the world needs to hear. Equipped with a hard-hitting music video that will leave you sticking it on repeat because of its relatability, all proceeds from the song and video will be donated to Ukrainian relief efforts.

Evol Walks reveal dynamic anthem 'Drag Me Down'

With a healthy chunk of attitude, a dynamite lead singer, and a predilection for time-honoured rock ‘n’ roll, Evol Walks has rapidly emerged as an energetic and enigmatic act to follow.Originally formed in Los Angeles, California in 2014 by flame haired, Australian-born Leah Martin-Brown, Evol Walks have moved from strength to strength, earning plaudits from Artists and Fans around the world, played across three Continents and shared the stages and lineups with the likes of Johnny Depp, Nita Strauss, The Killers, Everclear, The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Nancy Wilson, Black Label Society, Within Temptation and many more.

Evol Walks’ hard edge takes its inspiration from the giants of heavy music, from AC/DC to Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Joan Jett, Stone Sour and Monster Magnet, and gives it a modern tweak.

Having already released 2 EP’s, the 5 piece caught the attention of Swedish Manager Jens Lundberg who immediately signed Leah and the band to his Management Company, Blue Lemon in September 2019. When the pandemic hit in 2020, Evol Walks were determined to push through and work on their upcoming full-length record so it would be ready when the world reopened.

In mid-October 2020 Leah travelled to Stockholm, Sweden and immediately began working with some of the top musicians and songwriters in the country to put together the new album. After spending close to a year in the Nordics and another 6 months in Los Angeles- Evol Walks are ready to put forward their newest offering from their upcoming album- “Drag Me Down”

Speaking about the new release, Leah shares, “'Drag Me Down is a twisted love song. You know that this person is bad for you and everything will end in misery but you want to be pulled down with them. You want to surrender. To me it can represent any kind of dependent relationship- whether it is a human being or a chemical. Both can be equally dangerous and both have the capability to destroy.”

Writer and vocalist of such mega Moody Blues hits “Ride My See-Saw”, “I’m Just a Singer (In a Rock and Roll Band)”, “Isn’t Life Strange”, “Gemini Dream”, “Steppin in a Slide Zone” and many many more. Lodge has been performing and recording with The Moody Blues for more than five decades, selling in excess of 70 million albums, and also enjoys a successful solo career.

With the Moody Blues no longer touring, it’s John’s deeply held desire to continue to bring this music, the music he calls ‘the soundtrack of his life’ - as it is to so many - to the fans who have been on this journey with him for so many years. John and his band perform these classic songs with a new energy, whilst always remaining true to the Moody’s roots and the original iconic sound. They are unique in managing to bring a feeling of nostalgia to the room and the audience to their feet, with songs that are as relevant today as they were when first written and experienced.

As one critic wrote, ‘a brilliant night of classics from start to finish from this living Rock Legend!’, and as John says to the fans at the end of every show, ‘Thank you for Keeping the Faith’… and you can see he means it.  John’s show weaves his own Moodies hits together with special tributes to his bandmates from The Moody Blues, including a very special recording by the late Graeme Edge of his poem ‘Late Lament’.  Jon Davison of YES will be joining him on stage for ‘Nights in White Satin’.

The show is in support of his latest live album ‘The Royal Affair and After’ released in January this year to critical acclaim. The album was recorded live in Las Vegas on ‘The Royal Affair Tour’, in the Summer of 2019.

John’s mission statement is, after all, “I want to keep all the Moody Blues music alive!”

Joining John are his ‘10,000 Light Years Band’; Alan Hewitt (Music Director and Keyboards), Billy Ashbaugh (Drums), Duffy King (Guitars) and Jason Charboneau (Cello).

I’m delighted to be bringing my Moody Blues show to the Ocean City Music Pier as part of their Summer Concert Series!  I had a fabulous time on our March tour and on the Flower Power Cruise, and although we are working on dates for later in the year and next year, I was really happy to be asked to be part of this series.  I’ll be bringing my band, and we’ll be doing our full ‘Classic Moody Blues’ show with all my hits and tributes to all my bandmates. These songs really are the soundtrack of my life and I look forward to sharing them with fans, and perhaps even some not so familiar with the Moody Blues.” - John Lodge June 2022.

American singer-songwriter and dancer Thea Lissi is here with the refreshing song ‘Won’t Be Mine’.

A mother who recently went through a divorce, Lissi used her experiences to write and record her first debut “Ready Now.” The debut tells the story of Lissi putting herself back out there into what she calls a terrifying dating world. Using “Ready Now” as her starting point, Lissi has since signed with Payn Kyller Records and has her sights on pursuing her music career even further and using her plentiful life experiences to fuel her work and inspire her listeners.

Speaking about her new release, Thea Lissi shares, "I was inspired to write "Won't be Mine" while trying to leave my now ex-husband. I tried for years to make the relationship work & he didn’t seem to care. Once I left he finally changed but it was too late. We tried for 2 years to make it work but I just wanted to be free and for him to let me leave. Which then led to me finding my passion for writing music again and writing “Won’t Be Mine”. Although WBM was written before my other releases, I wasn’t able to record it until 2021 when I finally found a guitarist." Musically, the track is based around a gorgeous country-pop arrangement and is a vital asset to Thea’s growing discography. Adding to how the release was created, Thea explains, “I originally wrote the lyrics without any instruments then as the song developed I found someone to play guitar with me and at that point I finished the song & headed to Nashville to record it live in studio. Unlike my other songs, "Won't be mine" was recorded all in one take at the same time as recording the guitarist.”

Connecticut Cult Favorite Rock Ensemble The Neybas Release Fifth Album “Sunshine Hotel”

Connecticut rock band The Neybas (pronounced “nay-bahz”), a cult favorite in the northeast United States for decades, has just released their fifth album, “Sunshine Hotel.” The album’s collection of hook-laden songs spans multiple genres - from traditional and punkafunkadelic rock, to ska and reggae, seasoned with a dash of Caribbean, New Orleans and jam grooves. The lyrics provide snapshots of the people who work, meet, love - and stay - at the Sunshine Hotel.

The Neybas’ music is organic, energetic, and danceable, with good-vibes and echoes of the late 60s and early 70s. They have won multiple readers’ polls including “Best Original Music,” and “Best Live Performance,” among others. Over the years, the Neybas have played live with the Georgia Satellites, Joan Osborne, Great White, Felix Cavaliere of The Rascals, Ratt, Everything, Poison, Universal Honey, and Rick Derringer, to name a few.

Featuring original members Kevin “English” Bornstein (bass/vocals), Nicholas “Toad” Eckert (guitar/vocals), Russ “Skull” Waesche (guitar/vocals), and long-time drummer Emmet Hale, they added keyboardist and hometown “neybahood” friend Greg Marshall in 2019 to complete the outfit.

Partying, dancing, and rock n roll. That’s precisely what the Neybas provide.”  - MTV Online

During the pandemic, guitarist/singer/songwriter Russ Waesche wanted to hear new music that hearkened back to the good vibes of the hooky, upbeat rock and roll coming from radios in the early 70s. He wasn’t hearing any that fit that description, so decided to write his own.

The origins of the concept for “Sunshine Hotel” trace back to 2019, as the band was working on their previous album, “Flow.” Russ Waesche was looking for album cover images and came across a photo taken by a friend of the Sunshine Hotel, a flophouse in the Bowery section of NYC. While the photo wouldn’t work for “Flow’s” water theme, it gave Waesche the idea of a follow-up album that would have bright, upbeat grooves and themes. Two years of pandemic darkness later, it seemed increasingly timely.

Waesche and Richard Serviss, the photographer of the album’s cover photo, had bonded years earlier over Beat authors and poets, 1970’s NYC punk culture, photography, and a shared love of Lou Reed, among other things. One of the first songs penned for the album, the lead-off track “At the Sunshine Hotel,” gives a nod to Lou Reed by naming the characters Jack and Jane (remember Sweet Jane?).

During the lockdown, Waesche and fellow singer/guitarist Toad Eckert were both sidelined by injuries which made it too painful and difficult for either to play guitar. Waesche, who lost significant use of his right hand, found that not having a guitar in hand made writing songs nearly impossible. After a full year of medical adventure and physical therapy, the use of Waesche’s hand came back, and so did the songs. Eckert also recovered, and the band began playing again.

Starting in June 2021, Waesche demoed songs for producer John Bolduc, who liked what he heard, and the work began on honing and arranging the songs.  Recording commenced at Bolduc’s Massiphonic Studios in Connecticut at the beginning of 2022, after being postponed by the death of Waesche’s father, followed by a COVID variant surge in which multiple band members had to quarantine. The band recorded all the tracks between January and March, with guest percussionist Alex Giosa, (currently one of the drummers for the Broadway version of “Hamilton”) adding the final touches during the first week of April 2022.

The band is currently storyboarding videos for select songs from “Sunshine Hotel,” and playing select gigs in the northeast.
