The 'Young Lioness Of Africa' With Self-Titled Roaring Album

Whilst predominantly being sung in Sissala, regardless of whether you can understand it, the lyrical delivery through melody, rhythm and her outstanding performance on the album supports the claims that music continues on where words leave off.
The song "Peace" features driving and motivating bass and drum parts forming a western style representation of her fierce character and role in her nation.

With such a strong debut album and her fantastic activities outside of music, particularly in Ghana, she is set to blow up in the music industry.

Legendary jazz instrumentalist and vocalist Don Laka returns with an exciting release based around the works of Chopin. Don Laka is a seminal mover and shaker in the afro-jazz world and this exquisite take on one of classical music’s greats is both genre defying and interesting.

Laka has is own distinctive style entitled Kwaii Jazz, a heady mix of South African jazz  and the chord structures and rhythms of Marabi and Kwela. It is this fantastic mix that reiterates why Laka is such a brilliant artist.

Award Winning World Music Artist Paul Adams To Release Tenth Album “Imaginings”

Chicago, IL - Paul Adams has never been easy to pigeonhole. But, with over 42 million streams on Pandora, there seems to be something that is getting through to the people despite lack of label affiliation. His music is widely scoped and pushes beyond the usual boundaries. Besides music and poetry, he is also a luthier and has made instruments for a number of acclaimed musicians including Daryl Hall, members of Stevie Wonder's band and others.

“There is genre-bending, and then there is Imaginings. On the latter, the genre isn't bent, it's intertwined and intermixed and spun out into a glorious multi-hued comforting quilt of musical goodness. It may sound cliché but music is the universal language and Paul Adams is one of its great speakers.” - Bill Binkelman, Zone Music Reporter

In September 2015 Adams releases his tenth album IMAGININGS, a unique eclectic blend of New Age and World music with ex Ray Charles arranger/ trumpet soloist David Hoffman, bansuri player Pravin Godkhindi from India, and Australia’s Elizabeth Geyer. The album was recorded when Elizabeth was here completing her 4th album The Bridge which he was co- producing. "The goal was to focus on feeling.". The result is completely beyond what I expected. With Paul's collection of exotic instruments, some of which he made himself - there is a sense of cool and movement, established and rooted in a slight sense of mysticism and humor that reflects his varied musical interests.

Says Paul, “Magic was the prime vibe here. Finding Pravin on You Tube, a fascination with each other's music, and of course having David Hoffman involved. There were just so many special moments. It felt so obvious that there was this 'meant to be' vibe going on throughout. Direction was secondary and improvising what came naturally was the order of the day. When Elizabeth sat at the piano and played along with my collection of exotic instruments, it was a natural blending that just worked. It was a flow. Connection. Well ... magic I guess.”

In meeting Pravin, each expressed an interest in working with the other. It was somewhat of a risk as they met under circumstances that of course seem significant in this digital age. “I knew he had the chops, he was amazing. His playing was so beautiful and fluid. I sent him tracks and he recorded between his touring with his fusion band,” Paul explains. Upon receiving his contribution, it turned out to be beyond perfect with what Elizabeth and Paul had already done. “David Hoffman was invited over and given direction only of mood. This fusion of ideas and instruments from a wide variety of cultures worked miraculously. Dave added a slow essence of cool to the exotic direction of the album.” These elements of jazz (interestingly, although primarily a pianist here, in Australia Elizabeth was trained as a Jazz trumpet player), eastern and western Indian cultures, and influences from Paul's background in Ethnomusicology lead to this incredible blend.

Says Paul, “It's a wonderful and difficult world and I would like to think that the variety of musical cultures expressed here can metaphorically represent what is needed in the world today - a coming together of ideas and beliefs that can work together harmoniously. This was a prime life experience for me. The fact that this happened, with this result, seems no accident. There is order to the universe.”

“Imaginings” is available 9/1/15 at all digital outlets such as iTunes, Amazon, CDBaby as well as various retail outlets and of course, from Paul's website at www.pauladams.org. Phone 309 688 0267

World New Age Stream: Get Tribal-KVED At One In The World

Get Tribal is a group that pays tribute to ancient rhythms and spirituality. Kari Hohne is the artist that drives this new project, Radio God, due out on October 6th 2015.

"KVED At One In The World" is a sample of what to expect when the album is released. The combination of world beats, new age tones and ambient chill will appeal to a diverse audience of listeners.

I found the combination pleasantly intriguing and look forward to hearing more. This track is like a teaser that pulls you in to immerse you in the entire presentation. The meaning of this music can have many however my own interpretation is that it brings you closer to mother earth, the spirit of the human soul and the heartbeat of mankind and how we come together when the music merges with our consciousness.

Listen and make your own decisions on what it can mean for you but by all means listen to the track and video provided! Make sure you check out the links as the site provides a wealth of information about many subjects that point to self improvement and spirituality.

More About Get Tribal:

http://www.cafeausoul.com/products/music/radio-god

"KVED: At One in the World" is a sample of the genre fusion and blending of ethnic rhythms and modern beats that are at the soul of our soon to be released album Radio God. Inspired by the Vedic Chant Om Dum Durgayei Namaha: “Om (the sound of the universe) and salutations to the bestower of compassion, fearlessness and patience. May you bless me with your protection and love.” Infusing the music of India with the call and response of traditional Reggae blues, the sitar and guitar blend in this mantra style composition. The delay bubbling effect on the guitar is reminiscent of Indra’s elaborate net of jewels where all of life is a reflection of the One. A perfect track for Shavasana or reflection after yoga and exercise. This album will officially release October 6, 2015 and information can be found at www.get-tribal.com or at www.facebook.com/gogettribal.

New Age Instrumental/World Music Review: Rupam Sarmah- Omkara-The Sound of Divine Love

Release Date: July 15, 2014
Label: Rj International

Rupam Sarmah is an engineer, director, singer/songwriter, Guinness World Record holder and an award winning producer. For over twenty years his music has touched people around the globe. Recently it was noted in Time magazine that Sarmah had the most musicians present in an orchestra. His mission is teamwork to make the world a better place for humanity and peace for all.

Music and healing have been hand in hand for as long as people have been on this earth.  Sarmah has compiled an impressive list of contributing musicians inspired to share their gifts with the world. Using the chakra system, the album is linked to each of the seven stages, the final track being a journey from birth to enlightenment.

Contributing artists are: Grammy winners Pandit Vishwa Moham Bhatt, Laura Sullivan and Brian Vibberts. Also a part of the album are Grammy artist Rocio Marron, Padmashri Sumitra Guha, Pt. Subhen Chatterjee, Shayna Young, Matthias Muller, Jonathan Kay and others.

“Power-Solar Plexus Chakra” is the third track on the album and deals with transformation. The myriad of instruments whirl around you, bringing to life a vortex that sweeps you in. Change is part of life. Taking the next step and becoming who you are meant to be can be a frightening thing. This track in particular held a resonating factor for me as I embark on a new life journey with my job and writing career. The texture of the piece is a well woven basket of sound, structure and complex composition that I could listen to for hours on end (and have.) It features the incomparable Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt among others.

“Communication-Throat Chakra” is the fifth chakra. It is centered on communication and intuition. Melodious with flute and other instrumentation, this piece features Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt and other artists and combines a Western style musical experience with Indian Raga. The past and present collide in a vision of world peace and the love and appreciation of all peoples. It is a lighter than air piece with wispy sounds and the curling smoke of fine instruments and vocals done well.

“Heaven Bridge- Enlightenment” is a journey of birth and a life spent in contemplation of the final state of enlightenment. Celestial in its composition, Indian music again meets the West in a seamless composition of classical and World music. Multiple instruments craft a healing sound that transcends time and place and at the longest track on the album of twenty three minutes it is an unstoppable force of subtle qualities.

At one hundred and five minutes of music with Indian Raga, Western sounds and World music, this album is being used in conjunction with therapy programs in numerous disability and cancer treatments. It is well known that sound can influence mood and in some cases can be an influencer against pain, depression and disease. The artists in this audible chakra journey lead us on a path of deliverance and uplifting sound that will stay with you long after the last note is done.

Veteran Cuban Musician Rey Cabrera Spices Up The Summer With A Brand New Album!

Los Angeles, CA - Cuban born vocalist and master of the tres, a traditional Cuban style guitar, brings his finest latin jazz music to the North American audiences this coming August 5th. The extraordinary new album, Cabrera’s third full-length as Rey Cabrera y Sus Amigos, is entitled Controversia, and will be released on both CD and digitally by Goldenlane Records, a subsidiary of Cleopatra Records, Inc.

Born 1943 in the Oriente mountains that surround Santiago de Cuba, Cabrera inherited his love and passion for música campesina, Cuba’s oldest and most traditional music style, from both of his parents. His father taught him to play the tres, and before too long the young Cabrera moved to Santiago de Cuba where he met and performed with Eliades Ochoa, later of Buena Vista Social Club fame. From there, Cabrera went on to his own international acclaim as one of the last ambassadors of the Cuban musical style known as son cubano, a blend of Spanish canción and African rhythms. Cabrera has performed everywhere from the Montreux Jazz Festival, the North Sea Jazz in South Africa, the UK, and Belgium. Now this seasoned veteran will bring his immense talent to US shores - so grab a mojito and let Cabrera’s band transport you through the rich history of his musical heritage!

Former Alice Cooper / Flo & Eddie Bassist Erik Scott To Release Second World Music Album 'And The Earth Bleeds'

“A rocking bassist takes trips down unconventional musical roads, with apparently no rules or signposts. Medieval gypsy violin, Celtic melodies, steel guitars….. surprises.”

San Francisco, CA - Much to the excitement of music aficionados worldwide, bassist/composer Erik Scott will be releasing his sophomore CD 'And The Earth Bleeds' on May 8, 2014. Best known for his work with Alice Cooper, Sonia Dada, and Flo & Eddie, Erik's newest release takes the listener on an aural voyage through ethereal and otherworldly musical landscapes. 'And The Earth Bleeds' adds some vocals, gypsy violins, Celtic melodies, a dash of steel guitar, a wisp of French horns and other surprises to the soulful and mystic brew of his first 'solo' album, 'Other Planets'. And Erik continues to stretch convention with his melodic playing and bass-generated SFX.

Says Erik, “There are people who carefully plan out the direction of their music...smart. Then there's me. I pretty much have no idea at the start. I get in the music room and start messing around on something; bass guitar, chord changes on the keyboard, or a beat on the beat programmer. If I like something, it just starts to build. The lyrics on the five songs with lyrics on this CD...well, they happened later, when it seemed that the music alone wasn't saying all that I wanted.”

Among the eclectic mix, there is a definite Scottish influence in the music – especially on the tracks “Free”, “The Battle For Neverland” and “Run”. Erik explains, “I went to the Scottish Highlands and Edinburgh last August 2013. I had completely written and recorded 'Free' as an instrumental, when I was reminded of the price some people have paid for their freedom, in this case William Wallace of Scotland. It seemed that I needed to say a few words...not a lot...just a few. After returning from the Highlands, I found the trip had helped me complete the Scottish inspired pieces. The melody, originally played on bass, took on such a haunting beauty when played on the veille (medieval violin) by Shira Kammen, that I decided it was the music to which I should write the lyrics that became 'Free'.”

“Free” is inspired by, and dedicated to William Wallace. “The Battle For Neverland” is inspired by J.M. Barrie, the Scottish creater of 'Peter Pan', and “Run” is decidedly influenced by traditional Celtic melodies. Also the bridge to “Battle” is inspired by a traditional Scottish melody “The Haughs of Cromdale”.

Watch the promotional video for “Free”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1mjAUnayIb8

Erik Scott's first real break in the music business came in mid 1974 when he was hired to play bass for former Turtles/Frank Zappa's Mothers members Flo & Eddie (Mark Volman and Howard Kaylan). Erik recalls, “We toured and recorded constantly for about three years, making the 'Illegal, Immoral and Fattening' and 'Moving Targets' records. Flo and Eddie shows were known for alot of great hit songs from their career as 'The Turtles', cool stuff from the Flo & Eddie albums, some stuff from the Zappa years, and their usually profane and hysterical tirades about the excesses of pop stars and the music business in general. That's how I first met Alice, onstage with Keith Moon at the Troubadour in LA singing 'Happy Together' (Turtles Hit) and 'Wooly Bully'. We went out in '75 with Jefferson Starship, whose 'Red Octopus' album went to #1 five different times, and in '76 we were out with the Doobie Brothers, whose 'Takin' It to The Streets' was also #1. In between we did a tour with Steven Stills, and gigs with Fleetwood Mac, among others. These tours, and the albums with Flo & Eddie, still stick in my memory.”

In 1980, Erik began working with the legendary Alice Cooper after a short stint with drummer Carl Palmer of Emerson, Lake & Palmer. Erik Scott, first hired as bass player on the 'Flush The Fashion' tour, later became a co-writer on 'Special Forces' and co-producer as well on 'Zipper Catches Skin', touring extensively behind the 'Special Forces' album.

After Alice, Erik spent some years as a session player in LA, with artists as diverse as Kim Carnes, Peter McIan, Franne Golde, Tonio K, and others. He also found time to co-write and play on the title song from Pops Staples' 'Father Father' album, which won the Grammy as Best Contemporary Blues album in 1994. He also played on the title song from Mavis Staples' album 'Have A Little Faith", which was recognized by the WC Foundation in the Gospel-Blues category for the year 2004.

In 1989, Erik formed the rock band Signal and released the album 'Loud and Clear' on EMI Records. The album was largely lost in a regime change at EMI USA, but gathered acclaim as an AOR melodic rock hit internationally…a bit of a classic actually. Three commemorative packages were released overseas: Japan, France (Axe-Killer Records), and South Korea. 'Loud and Clear' made many 1989 year end Top Ten and Top Twenty charts for AOR and melodic rock.

In the early 90's Scott became an original member of the band Sonia Dada. The group featured eight members: three African-American soul singers and five European-American players with backgrounds ranging from rock, folk, jam, psychedelic, jazz and R&B, all of which brewed up quite a genre-busting stew. Erik spent 15 years, and recorded 6 albums with the ensemble, “where a diversity and collision of styles awakened all kinds of possibilities in me, probably helping to inspire the unconventionality of my solo work”.

Although Erik is originally known for his work in the rock field, he has recently pursued a path in 'world' music. In 2009, he released the critically acclaimed solo album 'Other Planets'. John Diliberto, producer/host of the radio show 'Echoes', is quoted: “To say that his solo debut 'Other Planets' is a bass guitar album is to miss what a powerful, cinematic release he's created. It's an album that is more Pink Floyd than Jaco Pastorius.”

And now, Erik has taken his enchanting and mystical music a step further with the release of 'And The Earth Bleeds'. He explains, “Again, no plan... I premeditated nothing. The melodic nature of it, any chilled out nature of much of it, came mostly from the fact that the music was birthed in my studio with just me. Rock music generally happens when you have more than one person...a gang...a rock gang. These solo projects come more from a melodic and chilled-out rhythmic place, and a desire to experiment with the potential of the electric bass as a major melodic voice, in combination with violin, steel guitar, and other less-expected partners.”

In closing Erik has this to impart to his fans and listeners, “I guess I hope that listeners appreciate the soulfulness, nuanced performances, and spacey honesty that probably leaks all over the stuff.”

Celebrated Music Duo GLASS HOUSE Releases “Blackbird” Music Video

A musical tribute to Nelson Mandela

Oakland, CA — Glass House is the acclaimed music duo featuring David Worm, best known for his work with Bobby McFerrin and guitarist/multi-instrumentalist Mark Vickness. Glass House has collaborated with violinist Mads Tolling and upright bassist Dan Feiszli to release the “Blackbird” music video.

Watch the video here: http://youtu.be/g1kYZXfvAzE

Blackbird was originally written in response to the struggle for civil rights in the U.S. When Nelson Mandela died, “it seemed so right to pay tribute to him and honor the tremendous impact he made,” says Mark.

The arrangement of “Blackbird” grew out of Mark’s unique approach to stringing and tuning his 8-string acoustic guitar. David then added a vocal line and lush vocal harmonies using his VoiceLive 2 Touch. Once the guitar and vocals were established, they collaborated with Mads and Dan to come up with violin and bass parts that filled out and anchored the texture of the song.

Filmed on location by director Paul Nordin of EMB Studios, in Emeryville, California the video was edited by Sharon Knight. The music was mastered by Reuben Cohen at Lurssen Mastering in Los Angeles.

About Glass House:
Glass House released its third album “Long Way Down” in October 2013. Songs range from the sparsely haunting solo acoustic guitar and voice rendition of Robbie Robertson's “Broken Arrow,” to the funk string quartet intro of “Turn Away,” to the driving, world music-infused choral tapestry of “Build A Bridge.” Lyrics run the gamut from tender personal pathos (“For Now,” “Thank You”) to timely political and social narratives (“Turn Away,” “Where I Belong”). Album producer/bassist Jon Evans is well known for his years recording and touring with Tori Amos and Third Eye Blind. Two-time Grammy winners The Turtle Island String Quartet contribute remarkable talents on two songs. Also appearing are drummers Scott Amendola (Charlie Hunter), L.A. studio ace MB Gordy (Frank Zappa, Green Day, Bill Withers), tabla virtuoso Ty Burhoe, violinist Mads Tolling (Stanley Clarke) and vocalists Ashling Cole (Prince) and Julianna Graffagna (Kitka).

Hundreds of thousands of fans have viewed the widely-acclaimed videos by Glass House. When the live-version video of “Broken Arrow” was first released, it was the seventh most-viewed YouTube video according to billboard.com.
