Featured Stream: Amilia K. Spicer - Fill Me Up

Roots Rock and Americana are really taking hold. It has been for several years and the more I hear it the more I can see why it has become so popular.

Music from artists such Amilia K. Spicer, like her track "Fill Me Up," will give you a good idea of what this music sounds like, or should sound like.

Spicer's voice has that edge country influenced music needs. The vocals gives it all more heart and soul. Truthfully, the reason I like the music so much is because it is so honest and emotional.

"Fill Me Up" comes at you locked and loaded and ready to fire away. The music is very earthy with a heavy influence from country (and I don't mean all polished with rock and pop for a looped radio playlist) just as all Americana or Roots Rock.

Check out this great music and the hypnotizing vocals of Amilia K. Spicer.

It may be her haunting, husky voice that first grabs a listener, the way it glides over melodies like smoke, but it’s the songwriting that Spicer really wants you to hear-

Featured Rock Stream: Roadcase Royale-Get Loud

Roadcase Royale is the side project of rock legend Nancy Wilson. She is joined by Liv Warfield (vocals), Dan Rothchild (bass), Chris Joyner (keyboards), Ben Smith (drums) and Ryan Waters (guitar).

This seasoned group of musicians are sure to make their mark on 2017 with a high energy funky sound. As an introduction they have provided "Get Loud" for a taste of what they can deliver.

I thought of Mother's Finest a few times while listening to Liv sing and the guitar lines laid down by Nancy and Ryan. With a track title like "Get Loud" you think of rock anthems. The funky rock sound is not a typical rock anthem but it sure has a lot of promise to become one, especially in a live setting. It all sounds like the perfect fit for this band and you can feel their chemistry bubbling over in the song.

Check it out now!

Featured Track: Jonathan Cavier - Comes A Moment

Jonathan Cavier has a new single out titled "Comes A Moment."

His pop-rock style and expressive vocals fill the track with passion and emotion. You can feel it as he sings "Comes a moment to let go"...

Everyone has times when they need to let something go that may be weighing things down. It can be any number of things but eventually we have to let go and move on. That is what I think this song is about and Cavier does a great job getting that message across in his music.

What else can I say? Listen the stream and watch the video and decide for yourself!

Track Feature: Angie and the Deserters - 17 Days

Angie and the Deserters quickly became one of my favorite listens last year. That trend most definitely is continuing in this new year.

Their latest EP You is chock full of Americana treats peppered with the spice of the blues and the punch of rock and pop.

"17 Days" features Angie and the band in fine form with a full head of steam. They offer up the fine vocals and the excellent musicianship their fans have come to appreciate.

This fan loves the music and the voice on every track I have heard from this fresh and energetic outfit. Check out the great guitar playing along with the tight rhythm section that is a constant compliment to Angie.

Listen, love it, live it, then listen again!

Settling in Southern California at a young age, Bruyere began a modeling career that took her on a journey around the world...experiences that can be felt throughout many of her songs.  Pen and paper always in hand, she began writing poetry and playing her guitar, lending itself naturally to combining her two passions into what has become a body of musical work that she continues grow daily...READ MORE...

Featured Stream: Kathryn Kaye-Winter's Deepest Sleep

Kathryn Kaye is a piano player extraordinaire. The beauty and grace she commands from the ivory keys is beyond reproach.

With her new album Reflected In A Flowing Stream arriving on New Year's Eve we have the pleasure of getting a sneak peak of what is to come.

The focus track is "Winter's Deepest Sleep." People that live in the Northeast and beyond can relate to that title.

The beauty of that process is revealed in the music.  As winter puts all kinds of life to sleep for several months we are assured of a reawakening in the Spring. The song is graceful, beautiful and delicate as life itself. It conveys a sense of spirituality and oneness that only nature brings.

Listen and relax to the warm and flowing sounds of Ms. Kaye on her track "Winter's Deepest Sleep."

Featured Stream: Naked - Brielle Von Hugel

Brielle Von Hugel bares her soul with a new single titled "Naked." This is a gorgeous lady on the outside and just as beautiful on the inside.

She has a tremendous set of pipes. If you have not heard of her, well you just did and you will quite a bit more I suspect.

The woman will not be ignored, her voice is powerful and passionate and steeped in emotion that flows out her. It is a feeling I am sure all of us can relate to. This is when you find the special person you can be yourself with including all the baggage, bumps and bruises life can offer.

Listen the words, the voice and woman who is singing about something she has lived - there is no doubt that it is real.

The video on "Naked" is quite good as well so listen, watch and enjoy!

Cranky George is back on Rate The Tracks to bring listeners another interesting and entertaining track.

This time we get to stream "Misery Road" from their recent album Fat Lot of Good.

"Misery Road" gives you windshield wipers for your tears. Man, what kind of car comes equipped like that? What a great line from the song!

As usual I enjoyed the music, in fact I think the entire Fat Lot of Good is a truckload of musical entertainment.

This is one example of the band's special blend of rock, Americana, blues and folk. They stir the pot of the emotional stew and its a good time so check it out.

Featured Track: Doug Hammer-The Spirit of America

Doug Hammer has a new album coming out titled Americana. It could not have arrived any sooner. "The Spirit of America" would make a great movie soundtrack on how we came to be.

This music just gave me chills. It is all instrumental with high energy and a lot of hope wrapped into it.

Thank you Doug Hammer for the music and your belief in the American Flag and what it stands for.

One small step for man and one giant leap for mankind...music like this helps to make that journey a bit easier.

Music can inspire and heal and that is exactly what this instrumental did for me! America is changing and evolving every day, strap in and get ready for a ride!

Featured Track: Karen Olson and Crispin Barrymore-Inner Wanderings

Karen Olson's latest release is A Hero's Journey created with Crispin Barrymore on the piano and sampled sounds.  A Hero's Journey. It contains 11 tracks of new age/classical influenced instrumentals. We are featuring her choice track  titled "Inner Wanderings."

The track suggests the human condition and what we find when we look inside for the truth. Karen's music is recognized on the world stage because of the expertise she commands with the viola.

It's not any easy task taking one instrument and making it a lead in a track or an entire album. This is a major accomplishment for any artist and particularly those that choose stringed instruments.

Karen's viola leads you down a path to push aside the feelings and emotions that are superficial. Her music will invite you to focus on your own "Inner Wanderings." - Keith "MuzikMan" Hannaleck

Featured Stream: Angie and the Deserters-You

"You" is the second focus track on our site for the dynamic band Angie and the Deserters. It is also the title of the band's new EP.

This time out the track has more of slower pace and pop flavor. It is a love song with all the emotions that pull on your heartstrings.

Angie and the band know how to get the message across with the right words, vocals and music. The three main ingredients of a great track are here, the triangle of success is complete with "You."
