Award-Winning Musician and Songwriter Jann Klose Unveils His Latest Single and Music Video for “Sugar My”

Jann Klose explores the sometimes baffling and inexplicable current state of the world with his latest single and music video “Sugar My”

“Up is down, day is night — not what it seems! Like Alice in Wonderland, stuck in-between” sings Jann Klose on the chorus of his new single “Sugar My”, from his upcoming 7th studio album, ‘Surrender’, to be released on Honey Rose Records. The song, a commentary on the sometimes baffling and inexplicable state of the world today, is a cinematic pop gem co-written with hit songwriter Alex Forbes (Chic/Nile Rodgers, Taylor Dayne).

Working with one of the industry’s most revered songwriters, Jann has always admired Alex Forbes who has had hits with Nile Rodgers/Chic and Taylor Dayne. How the meeting came about and them eventually working together, is a wonderful story as Jann tells it “We met on the Forbes Yacht years ago when I was invited by a journalist friend to tag along on a ride up to West Point from New York City. It was quite the experience! Alex and I stayed in touch and she reached out to me after ‘Love You the Most’ became a YouTube hit. We started getting together for biweekly writing sessions during the pandemic and kind of became each other’s ‘therapist’ while it felt like the world was ending.”

What made the writing connection special for Jann was when they first got together to write, they immediately came up with a song that was fully written in about 2 hours. Jann was so impressed by her style and speed and wanted to keep working on more songs.

So, “Sugar My” was born next.

Jann recalls the writing session, saying “We wanted to create a feel of a sort of ‘Alice in Wonderland’ type vibe where there is a palatable sense of confusion and one is not entirely sure what’s real and what’s not. We wrote it at the onset of the pandemic, so it was very much a strong reflection on how we were feeling ourselves!”

Moving from writing with Alex Forbes, Jann joined Producer Marcus Dembinski to record the single, which in true pandemic style started in his bedroom studio until they could access the recording studio. “Well, at first it started there anyway and then, as things opened up, we tracked live instruments at Studio G in Brooklyn, New York,” recalls Jann.

The release of the single is accompanied by the equally mesmerizing and visually stunning music video.

Jann reunited with Alex Vishno, who also worked on his music videos for “Love You the Most” and “Pilot Light”. Alex recruited Eileen “EJ” Jaworowicz to choreograph and co-direct, and she brought in the 10 incredible dancers in the music video.

Looking at the visuals and concept for the video and how it connects with the theme of the song, the music video for “Sugar My” celebrates this unity beautifully.

“It was really my manager, Morey Levovitz and Alex Vishno with EJ that conceptualized the idea. I think they intentionally sort of put me into a situation in which I kind of knew what to expect but only fully started to realize what they were going as we were shooting. As you can tell, there’s a lot of trust involved, but I also knew that they got the song and what it was about, so I went with it. The idea is that people in the video start morphing from a state of disconnect into an open, free state where they become ‘liberated’,” remarks Jann on the concept idea behind the video.

It was a busy shoot day to put the video together, but one he thoroughly enjoyed! “We shot for 5 hours straight without any breaks at Studio 8 in Milford, CT! There were a couple of costume changes and makeup changes involved which really made it fun and exciting. The space we shot in looked fabulous so I think everyone’s creativity was sparked and we were all “allowed” to be exploratory with our movement and performances.”

With the brand new single and music video finally released, Jann has just one wish for those who hear and see “Sugar My”. “I hope that people will love it as much as we do. It’s a really fun, upbeat tune with a cinematic production vibe to it.”

CIRCUS MIND Showcase Their ’70s Rock, Funk, and Jazz Grooves on the New Single “BABY COME BACK DOWN” From Their Upcoming BIOLUMINATE

New York, NY – CIRCUS MIND is a New York-based rock outfit and the brainchild of singer/songwriter and keyboardist Mark Rechler. The band is about to celebrate its 20th year and will soon unveil their fourth release BIOLUMINATE, an eclectic collection of ’70s rock and funk with modern takes on N’awlins swamp rock mixed with Beatles pop. CIRCUS MIND is a camouflaged Cephalopod that can change colors, moods and styles in an instant, swimming from jazzy groove rock to funky reggae roots with ease. Their last release JOY MACHINE featured Nels Cline, Marc Ribot, Ivan Neville, Walter Wolfman Washington, Scott Metzger, and more. The first JOY MACHINE single “Are You Ready?” featured guest guitar phenom Brandon “Taz” Niederauer, and its music video was well received by critics and fans alike.

Their earlier release “Silver Flower” was voted one of the Best Indie Albums of 2006 by Newsday and put a modern take on influences such as Traffic, Steely Dan, Little Feat, and Mott the Hoople while mixing in NoLa vibe influences like Dr. John, The Meters and The Neville Brothers. The CIRCUS MIND single “Jazzfest Time” was released as an ode to the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. CIRCUS MIND is quite versatile and has opened for national acts (Toots & The Maytals, The Neville Brothers, The Radiators) and had many notable guests sit in on their recordings and live performances (Soulive, Rebirth Brass Band, Cyril Neville).

CIRCUS MIND’s members are diverse in their influences and playing styles. Lead vocalist, songwriter and keyboardist Mark Rechler performs with multiple projects and has played, toured, and recorded with members of The Meters, The Neville Brothers, The Radiators, Soulive, The Brandon “Taz” Niederauer Band, Rebirth Brass Band, Ivan Neville, and more. Spending five years in New Orleans studying music, art, & architecture helped influence his style and direction, and he always keeps his listeners salivating and wanting more.

Guitarist Jaime Scott has toured the world as a guitarist and engineer, with renowned ensemble John Lurie and the Lounge Lizards. In doing so he followed the lineage of the legendary and influential Lounge Lizard’s guitarists who came before him. “Baby Come Back Down” also features late and long-time CIRCUS MIND bassist Chris Crosby, who had studied with Oteil Burbridge of The Allman Brothers Band and Dead & Co.

The band’s rhythm section features drummer Dan Roth, a driving force of funky world influences and percussionist Steve Finkelstein, who has worked recorded and performed with pop icons from Ray Charles as well as jam band giants including members of the Dead, Allman’s, and Neville’s, and Tower of Power. Steve is also a founding member of the Funk Filharmonik.

New Member Saxophonist Michael Amendola holds a BA in Arranging from The Berklee College of Music. Credits include touring, film scores, jingles, and Broadway shows. Michael was a member of The Tony Trischka Band for 7 years, producing 2 recordings on Rounder Records and as a leader, released the jazz recording "Big Sunflower" on CDC Records. Also joining the party is Leandro Da Silva, a multi-faceted bassist from São Paulo, Brazil who brings elements of Samba and Funk that can be heard in his diverse playing style.

Apex God emerges with hard-hitting new single 'Sugar Ray'

Having started rapping in 2017, Apex God dropped freestyles on YouTube, and now has music across all platforms. Taking the town of Missoula by storm, Apex God founded a record label with other local talents. Their record label has amassed over 500,000 streams and embraces an old-school, ugly style of rap that always leaves the listener wanting more. Single Ruin releases alternative hit 'cloud.nine'

 

Combining electronic alt-pop vibes with organic sounds such as bass, guitar and drums, Single Ruin is certainly a project you won’t be getting enough of any time soon. The adventure of producer and songwriter Josh P Gale, Single Ruin has already garnered attention from the likes of EARMILK, Music Crowns and CLOUT. For new music coming out, Josh is turning his attention to the main instrument he plays live as Single Ruin, Drums. Live recorded drums feature heavily in these up coming recordings bringing an all round edgier and more rock focused sound.

Speaking about the new release, Single Ruin shares, ”cloud.nine is all about falling in love with someone and realising how everything is better with that person in your life. “No need to say it back, I love you”, the first sentence of the song perfectly introduces and describes the sentiment of this song.

Musically, the track is prominently indie based and revolves around a hypnotising production. Sounding somewhere between Tame Impala, Childish Gambino and NAO, Single Ruin are alt-pop at its best. Armed with a relatable storyline, the track feels like its supported by rose-tinted glasses, and comes across as the perfect soundtrack to Valentine’s Day.

Kent based star Siimon reveals tribute to Coldplay's masterpiece album

 

One of the most successful UK bands ever, Coldplay have achieved the unachievable. Over 100 major awards including nine BritAwards and seven Grammys, over 100 million copies sold across their seven number one albums and countless hit singles, the 4 piece have now reached the 20th anniversary of their second album ‘A Rush Of Blood To The Head’. 

To celebrate the anniversary, Kent based singer-songwriter Siimon has put together a unique tribute album ‘A Rush Of Strings To The Head’ - A euphonious retake of the entire Coldplay album arranged for string quartet and piano, with SIIMON providing the lead vocal. Recorded live at Ash church in Kent towards the end of 2021, the album was produced by acclaimed producer Paddy Byrne, known best for his work with the likes of Tom Grennan, Paloma Faith, Will Young and Olly Murs. The lead track, Siimons’ rendition of the track ‘In My Place’ is melodically uplifting and beautifully composed, giving the track a unique twist whilst paying homage to the original. The album was recorded with top string quartet Solas Strings who have worked with top acts including Duran Duran, So Solid Crew, Danny O'Donoghue (The Script), Rick Wakeman and Rebecca Ferguson.

Over his career, as well as being a tribute to Chris Martin (in the first UK Coldplay tribute band Coolplay), Siimon has also celebrated a number of successes for his own music including appearances on Channel 4 and BBC radio, performing at the London O2 Arena, as well as reaching number 2 in the singer/songwriter iTunes charts, January 2021. With over 750,000 streams on Spotify, Siimon has also emmassed over 4 million views on his YouTube channel.

Ultimately being a fan of Coldplay's work, Siimon has covered much of their disocgraphy, however ‘In My Place’ is a stand out to him. This idea of unreciprocated love is expressed throughout the track and the use of the violins really help to convey that feeling of sorrow and sadness. Siimons musical talent doesn’t stop at being a tribute to Chris Martin, he is the co-founder of The Songwriting Academy which is incredibly successful helping aspiring songwriters as well as working with already established artists. You need to know the password to get in here, this club is the most exclusive in town. About feeling on-the-fence about a certain affair. Do we stay right here and keep it fun & casual, or do we take this to the next level, gamble it all for something even steamier. I don’t know the answer. That’s why I wrote this song.

Singer/Songwriter Tracey Coryell, wife of late guitar legend Larry Coryell, has released her new Dance-Rock single SWORDS!

SWORDS - A Winter. A howling deep from within, the expression of your true nature… a letting-go of the internal struggle. A releasing from the mental prison, the Winter of your mind. Acknowledging it’s simply a perception away…your desire, peace, satisfaction, balance.

Essentially SWORDS is about self sabotage... how we push away what we truly desire, be it with people, places or things… the subtle disconnect from our inner being.

Says Tracey, “I pulled the term SWORDS from the suit in the Tarot. Those of you who aren’t familiar with it, the symbolism of SWORDS in the Tarot represents the element of Air (my Sun sign Gemini), thoughts, communication and even heartache from either pain or pleasure. As I find Tarot useful in self-examination and discovery, I decided it would be a perfect fit to express the ever popular topic of shadow-work; the working on our darker sides; the parts of us that might be negative and not in alignment with Divine love.”

Songwriting is the creative outlet for Tracey Coryell’s expression of the divine and her personal therapeutic journey both inspired by celebrating the peaks and valleys of the human experience with an ever tethered Soul to Spirit...

The thirty year career of this singer/songwriter/recording artist has afforded her the opportunity to record with Grammy Award winning producers in Philadelphia, PA  (Al Alberts Jr, Sound Spa Studios)  & Miami, FL (Ron and Howard Alberts, AudioVision Studios) and perform with such greats as her late husband, renowned jazz guitarist Larry Coryell, guitarist Jorma Kaukonen (Jefferson Airplane), acclaimed jazz/rock drummer Alphonse Mouzon and the legendary Les Paul. Her children’s song-book “Tilikum’s Dream” was published by Eifrig Publishing in 2015 and she is a two-time recipient of the ‘Best Love Song’ award from the Songwriter’s Showcase of America (SSA). Two previous albums include, “Traceyland’s Emotional Roller-Coaster” (2002) and the album “Eleven:11” (2016). Coryell’s latest full-length album, “RaVel” dedicated to her late husband Larry Coryell, released in December of 2019 and features a ten-song collection of emotionally charged, heartfelt compositions delivered with her earthy, sultry, compelling vocals exploring and fusing the styles of pop, rock and countrypolitan.

Daniel Mauro reveals bittersweet new single 'Wish You Away'

 

Long Island, New York based singer-songwriter and producer Daniel Mauro is an independent artist on a mission to change the pop industry forever. Speaking about the new release ‘Wish You Away’, Daniel shares, “It’s about finally taking off the rose colored glasses in a relationship and noticing the flaws. A relatable single that describes what it’s like coming out of the honeymoon period in a relationship and seeing what it really is, ‘Wish You Away’ is a chilled, bittersweet number with moments of euphoria dashed throughout. London based songwriter Anouska Taylor is back with new song 'Awaken'

 

London based soul-pop singer-songwriter, performer and vocal coach Anouska Taylor is back with a gorgeous new ballad, ‘Awaken’. Back in the UK after spending 12 years living in Melbourne, highlights from Anouska’s career as a performer include her soloist performance for the ‘Carols by Candlelight’ concert attended by over 25,000 people (Melbourne) and singing at her own sold-out Eva Cassidy Unplugged show (Recital Centre, Melbourne). Dora Donaldson is back with brand new offering 'You Wonder Why'

 

International singer-songwriter Dora Donaldson is back with her second single ‘You Wonder Why’ since moving to Malaysia. Dora is Hungarian-American-Swiss and is currently based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The product of a collaboration between two local Malayasian producers, the track was recorded and produced during one of the lockdowns in the past year. Receiving praise from the likes of A&R Factory and Roadie Music, Dora’s songwriting has certainly stepped up a gear.

San Francisco based duo ‘The Jealous Guys’ made up of Casa and Yin are on the rise thanks to their conscious and soulful Bay Area Street style that pays tribute to Hip Hop culture as a whole. They’re now back with their brand-new incredibly slick single ‘North Face Sermon’ which is released worldwide on 19th November 2021.

The song depicts the frustration in the partner that put so much in and doesn't want to leave but will if she has to. She's airing her grievances with her lover hoping it doesn't fall on deaf ears.  I feel as though this song could easily be viewed from a male or female's perspective, married, dating, or in a long-term relationship. So men don't feel left out on this one! It's a gender-fluid kinda theme. Everyone that has been in a relationship that has lost its spark can relate to 'Do Better.'

Vanessa Hillman returns with stunning new single 'Tongue Tied'

 

Having grown up attending local festivals and restaurants, Vanessa Hillman is certainly a captivating storyteller.
