G'ole! FIFA's Official Film of the 1982 World Cup Feat. Music by Rick Wakeman to be Released on CD/DVD & Limited Edition Boxed Set

London - Now available for pre-order, G'ole! FIFA's official film of the 1982 World Cup featuring music by Rick Wakeman on CD/DVD & Limited Edition Boxed Set (which includes the unreleased bonus soundtrack CD Hero). This is the next in the highly successful deluxe edition series of Rick Waleman's classic albums.

Says Rick, “Another soundtrack album and not bad as soundtrack albums go. It's a shame DVD wasn't about at the time as it would have made a nice sporting DVD release.”

Narrated by Sean Connery, with music by Rick Wakeman, G'ole! captures the highly charged atmosphere of those few weeks in Spain, when the World's top 24 teams gathered to do battle.

It features…Italy winning despite half their squad being suspended for match fixing. Germany and Austria fixing their result to eliminate Algeria. A Kuwaiti Sheik invading the pitch and successfully getting a goal over turned. The Germany v France Semi Final which featured the worst foul in World Cup history, when Germany’s goalie Schumacher broke Patrick Battison's jaw. Schumacher then helped Germany beat France in the first ever penalty shoot out. 17 year old Maradona's arrival on the international scene – then getting sent off for kicking a Brazilian in the nuts. Northern Ireland beating hosts Spain (that goal from Trainspotting). And England getting knocked out despite not losing a game. It was an amazing tournament.

Not only that, we get to see New Zealand's players getting a half time bollocking and topless girls on the beaches. This is FIFA after all.

Age 23 Sean Connery played for Bonnyrig Rose FC. Sir Matt Busby was impressed by his fellow Scot, offering him a £25-a-week contract at Old Trafford. “I really wanted to accept because I loved football,” recalled Connery. “But I realised that a top-class footballer could be over the hill by the age of 30, and I was already 23. I decided to become an actor and it turned out to be one of my more intelligent moves.”

“G'ole! finds Wakeman experimenting again with the staccato rhythms and percussion of "White Rock," and overlaying this with the broad synth strokes that he developed on 'Rhapsodies.” - All Music Guide

Buddy Rich The Lost Tapes Now Available on CD and Vinyl LP!

Studio City, CA - Lightyear Entertainment and Lobitos Creek Ranch, in association with Scabeba Entertainment and the Buddy Rich Estate, have released the live album The Lost Tapes featuring Buddy Rich and his Big Band, recorded in 1985 at the King Street Studios in San Francisco on CD and vinyl LP. The album is part of the Buddy Rich Centennial Celebration. Buddy was born on September 30, 1917.

The album is the soundtrack from the concert film The Lost Tapes, which has been available from Lightyear on DVD since 2003 and 2005, respectively.

Gary Reber, subsequently the founder of Widescreen Review was the Producer of the concert. One Pass Video was the Production company. Scott Ross of One Pass was the Director. A complete jazz club was built in the soundstage for the production to a live audience. The recording was originally made in SQ Tate Matrix Quad Surround Sound.

The soundtrack has been re-mastered for CD by Chad Hailey and Jeff Pinn at Broken Arrow Sound, Redwood City, CA. The vinyl LP has been mastered and replicated by PALLAS GmbH/Furnace MFG in Germany on 180 Gram audiophile vinyl.

The Lost Tapes was released on February 2, 2018 through Caroline Distribution, the independent distribution arm of Universal Music Group, on the Lightyear/Lobitos Creek label. The UK street date for The Lost Tapes CD is 16 March and the vinyl is 20 April. The title The Lost Tapes refers to the fact that these recordings were lost for a decade, presumed damaged in a fire, and then digitally restored.

“These recordings are some of the best quality recordings ever made of the legendary drummer and his band,” said Arnie Holland, CEO of Lightyear. “And we are grateful to Executive Producer Steve Michelson and the inimitable Cathy Rich for 14 years of working together with us to make sure that Buddy's legacy is complete and widely available.”

Cathy Rich, CEO of Scabeba Entertainment and Buddy’s daughter, is guest vocalist with the Buddy Rich Band featuring drummer Greg Potter. The 16-piece Big Band will continue to tour all year.

Buddy Rich, whom Gene Krupa defined as “the greatest drummer to ever draw breath,” was honored with a President's Special Merit award GRAMMY along with three Grammy Nominations. He was inducted into the Downbeat MagazineModern Drummer and Playboy Halls of Fame. Buddy received the Jazz Unlimited Immortals of Jazz Award and awards for his philanthropic efforts. He was named “Greatest Drummer of All Time” by Modern Drummer magazine.

In honor of Buddy's Centennial, a flag was flown over the U.S. Capitol on Buddy's birthday, September 30, when the commemoration of his Centennial will also be read into the official Congressional record where it will be a permanent part of the United States archive for all time.

A PledgeMusic campaign has been started for the release where a fan can not only buy CDs and vinyl, but also special merch items and could even purchase an opportunity to sit in with the band in concert. https://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/buddyrich?utm_medium=email&utm_source=pledgemusic

Rick Wakeman's The Real Lisztomania Limited Edition Box Set Now Available For Pre-Order!

The Real Lisztomania to be released as Rick Wakeman always wanted - available CD/DVD & Deluxe Box Set!

London – Keyboard legend Rick Wakeman's The Real Lisztomania Limited Edition Box Set is now available for pre-order! This is an extremely rare find as the master tapes were long since considered destroyed. Back in 1975 Rick was asked to oversee and compose a lot of the music for the film Lisztomania, which was directed by Ken Russell. Rick was also given a part in the film in which he played the god Thor.

A soundtrack album was later produced by Rick, which was subsequently turned down by A&M Records, much to Rick's disgust. There were huge disputes going on at the time and they basically hated everything he produced even though he was selling albums for them in multi-millions. It is not commonly known that they actually turned down Journey To The Centre Of The Earth initially and it was only by forcing the contract that Rick had signed with them, that it was ever released. They also initially didn't want to release The Six Wives Of Henry VIII until some vocals were put on it!

After rejecting Rick's soundtrack master, A&M then produced a soundtrack of their own which had very little of Rick on it and yet they still thoughtfully put his name on the front cover along with that of Roger Daltrey! Rick was furious to say the least and hated the soundtrack album vehemently and told the press accordingly! It sold accordingly well! However, the film went on to become one of the cult films of all time and to find this original soundtrack is quite unbelievable as there was only one master ever in existence and yet somehow it has managed to survive more than 25 years in a box amongst some old football shorts! It was originally released as part of Rick's fabled, Treasure Chest box set of a limited edition of 500 on the Voiceprint label, copies of going for over £500 on eBay. Now back by popular demand, in its rightful place with the film it is the soundtrack of.

The tapes have been carefully re-mastered and all concerned believe that this is truly something special. Rick's idea was always to try and produce a completely different type of soundtrack and he produced this one by making it into a form of story with intermittent hilarious narration that runs throughout spoken by Paul Nicholas.

Guest vocalists include Roger Daltrey, Paul Nicholas & Linda Lewis. It may be more than 40 years since these altercations, but as they say, “Better late than never!” It's certainly a very different soundtrack to any that have ever been produced in the world of film music. It's very funny too, which is perhaps what we have come to expect from Rick with humour and music in one.

The box set, as well as other items, available will be shipped from UK for early April 2018

Two New Soundtracks Harness The Cinematic Power Of Prog/Space Rock Legends & Revivalists!

Features the music of Hawkwind, Nektar, Faust, Chrome, Brainticket, Rick Wakeman (Yes), Guru Freakout (with Mani Neumeier), John Wetton (Asia), Robby Krieger (The Doors), Omega, Hedersleben, and others!

Los Angeles, CA - Two very different indie films to be released later this year feature soundtracks that make unique use of prog and space rock music. First up is the thrilling action/adventure film set in the Middle East, 8 Assassins - The Beautiful, The Bad And The Ugly, which features one of the most unusual tracks in the entire oeuvre of UK prog-psych rockers Hawkwind, the haunting “Hassan-i Sabbah,” featuring Arabic singing and some brilliant violin work by Simon House. Also featured on the epic 2CD soundtrack are tracks by Hawkwind co-founder Nik Turner, a compelling live track from experimental German band Faust, prog revivalists Hedersleben, and a host of others! Meanwhile, a brand new sci-fi space horror film The Rift - Dark Side Of The Moon features loads of out-of-this-world psychedelic jams including compositions from the Pink Floyd album that inspired the film’s subtitle performed by the legendary John Wetton, XTC’s Colin Moulding as well as The Doors’ Robby Krieger. Also featured are Hungarian prog rock giants Omega as well as not one but two bands featuring avant garde percussionist Mani Neumeier of Guru Guru. So whether you like your prog rock with a little Mid-Eastern influence or prefer the spacier side, these two soundtracks will have plenty to offer! The soundtrack for 8 Assassins will be available August 18 and The Rift soundtrack will be available September 1.

Sixties Documentary "Tonite Let's All Make Love In London" Feat. Pink Floyd To Be Released on CD & Limited Edition Pink Vinyl!

Newly remastered from the original master tape!

London - The British film director and pop promo auteur Peter Whitehead's kaleidoscopic 1967 documentary is a vivid and controversial snapshot of the height of London's “Swinging” era.

Featuring interviews with a diverse selection of iconic figures in British and international pop culture – from artists such as David Hockney and Alan Aldridge, through to actors such as Michael Caine and Julie Christie, the author Edna O’Brien, Beat Poet and writer Allen Ginsberg, and Rolling Stones manager and founder of Immediate Records, Andrew Loog Oldham, the movie is rightly regarded as both a celebration and critique of the London “Summer of Love”.

At its heart was a soundtrack album which featured renditions of “Interstellar Overdrive” by The Pink Floyd, “Here Come The Nice” by Small Faces, and contributions from the enigmatic Vashti Bunyan, Brit blue-eyed soulster Chris Farlowe and vocal duo Twice As Much.

Newly remastered from the original master tape, the album brilliantly captures the overheated atmosphere and ferocious pace of the times.

“Tonite Let's All Make Love In London” is available on 180-gram heavyweight audiophile vinyl (first 1000 copies pressed on pink vinyl)!

Also available on gatefold SleevePac CD and digital download.

Critically Acclaimed 1971 Film "Extremes" Feat. Soundtrack By Supertramp And Others Now Available For Pre-Order!

London - Available for the first time on CD and DVD, “Extremes” is the 1971 film Directed by Tony Klinger, Mike Lytton. It covers the whole gamut of present day human behaviour, from carefree pop fans bathing nude at the Isle of Wight to withdrawn, pathetic junkies hastening their own deaths with hard drugs. Such is the range encompassed by the so-called “permissive society”, doubly significant because it usually involves young people who have either never known discipline or are rebelling against an overdose of it. They can't change society so they have no alternative but to drop out from it. In some of the most natural and remarkable film footage ever obtained, Tony Klinger and Michael Lytton have captured a unique cross-section of them going their chosen ways, and talking freely and frankly about doing so. Nothing was pre-arranged, nothing rehearsed: everything was filmed as it happened. Hippies, junkies, Hell's Angels, alcoholics, drop-outs - all fall into the category of nonconformist minorities.

Accompanying this incredible film is an equally amazing sound track produced by Supertramp, Arc, Crucible and others. The sound track album was released on Deram and is so rare it sells for in excess of £250 and has never being be released on CD before.

Available from Gonzo Multimedia, this DVD/ CD package with an extensive booklet of photographs from the set and sleeve notes by Tony Klinger finally pays justice to this unique film

Tracks:
Arc - An Ear Ago
Arc - Great Lager Street
Crucible - Box Man
Mark McCann - Black Rose
Mark McCann - Refrigerated Warmth
Arc - Let Your Love Run Through
Crucible - Hit It

Award Winning Movie Score from “Tanna” To Be Released February 3, 2017 - Film Now Nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film

Studio City, CA - Lightyear Entertainment, the U.S. distributor of the film Tanna, today announced the worldwide release of the Original Score Album from the film.

The Tanna Original Score, composed by Antony Partos, will be released February 3, 2017, through Caroline Distribution, the independent distribution arm of Universal Music Group, on the Lightyear label.

The film, now nominated for a 2017 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, is Australia’s submission to the Academy for that category. It was also nominated for 5 Awards at the Australian Academy of Cinema & Television Arts (AACTA), including Best Film and Best Director, and won the award for Best Original Score. Now that hauntingly beautiful score will be available for digital download and streaming throughout the world. AACTA is considered to be Australia’s equivalent of the Academy Awards.

The film Tanna was released by Lightyear theatrically this past fall in about 35 U.S. markets, and is still playing in some theaters around the country. It will be available in the U.S. for EST and VOD (digital purchase and rental) on February 7, 2017, and on BluRay and DVD on March 7, through Momentum Pictures/Sony Home Entertainment.

The Tanna Original Score features vocals by Lisa Gerrard and cello by Julian Thompson. Ms. Gerrard’s voice was engineered by James Orr. The music was produced and mixed by Wes Chew at Sonar Music in Australia.

Boasting an 82% Rotten Tomatoes critics rating and 94% Audience Score. Tanna has received rave reviews from top publications and news outlets, including the Los Angeles Times (“one of the best films” shot in the South Seas), The Village Voice (“rich in both sociological detail and roiling emotions”), The Washington Post (“performances as stunning as the setting”) and PBS NewsHour (“an amazing film”).

On a remote island in the South Pacific, a young girl falls in love with her chief’s grandson.  But when war with their enemies escalates, Wawa is unknowingly betrothed as part of a peace deal. The young lovers run away, but are pursued by warriors of both tribes.  With their lives on the line, the star-crossed lovers must choose between their hearts and the peaceful future of the tribe.

“Listening to the score conjures the story of the film in an emotional, evocative way” said Arnie Holland, CEO of Lightyear. “It’s incredibly beautiful.”

Tanna is based on a true story – an event that occurred in 1987 in one of the world’s last tribal societies.  The actors in the film are the people of Yakel, on the island of Tanna, who never saw a film before they performed in this one. The islanders are fully aware of the outside world, but have chosen to live according to the ways of their ancestors, after resisting the colonial powers that used to control the area, the missionaries that tried to assimilate them to a Western way of life, and finally the lure of money.  The film was crafted in full collaboration with the islanders, and is the first feature film to be shot entirely in the nation of Vanuatu, which is an archipelago of 83 islands and an estimated 110 different languages.  The island of Tanna is dominated by an active volcano, which plays an important part in the film, as well as the tribe’s culture. CRUISING, the Controversial Cult Classic Film Soundtrack Available on Compact Disc for the First Time

“One of the rockingest movies ever...the music here is dark, dirty and seedy.”

Camarillo, CA - Marshall Blonstein's Audio Fidelity will be releasing the original motion picture soundtrack to Cruising, the 1980 William Friedkin film starring Al Pacino. The controversial movie has become an underground cult classic and the release of the dynamic soundtrack featuring performances by Willy DeVille, John Hiatt, Rough Trade, The Cripples, Mutiny and their left field opus “Lump,” The Germs and others has been long-awaited.

The film, considered a snapshot of pre-AIDS gay life, is about a series of violent New York murders in which the victims all frequent clandestine Manhattan leather bars in which gay men gather to dance, drink, do drugs and make pairings while enveloped in an S&M world of leather, boots, whips and chains. When Friedkin announced plans to set a movie in that milieu, and to film it primarily on location, the New York gay community rose up in protest. Cruising, they said, would present a distorted view of gay life. Upon the film's release gay activists had public protests against the film. However, critical opinion of it has warmed over the years as the film has been reassessed and the demand for the music continued to grow.

One of the best parts of the film is the amazingly gritty soundtrack. The music was scored and compiled by the late Jack Nitzsche, one of the most prolific film orchestrators in Hollywood during that period. Nitzsche was best known for being Phil Spector's arranger (and shared credit as the co-creator of “The Wall of Sound”). He won an Academy Award for Best Song for co-writing with Will Jennings and Buffy Sainte-Marie “Up Where We Belong” from 1982's An Officer and a Gentleman. Jack also worked with Neil Young on “Harvest” and was a keyboard player on many mid-1960s albums by The Rolling Stones.

Friedkin and Nitzsche had collaborated earlier on The Exorcist. Among many film successes he composed the unusual score for One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Nitzsche can currently be seen at work in the studio in The Wrecking Crew documentary making rounds on movie theater and cable TV screens.

Most of the songs on the Cruising soundtrack are a mix of rock, glam and disco music. The tracks are much more violent and full of an anxious energy. The tracks complement the action and the S&M bar setting extremely well and offer a glimpse of an un-idealized 70's scene. It is not the flourishing, feverish, disco epics that have come to stereotype gay musical tastes though there is some serious dance floor stomping here as well as several raw and spirited tracks by various punk, P.Funk, rock, pop and soul artists.

Nitzsche was excited about working with the proto punk Germs as well as Willy DeVille and as a result of this record went on to produce some of their best material including three Willy DeVille albums beginning in the late 1970s: Cabretta (1977), Return to Magenta (1978), and Coup de GrĂ¢ce (1981). Nitzsche said that DeVille was the best singer he had ever worked with and that talent is on display in this original motion picture soundtrack.

Tracks:

1) Willy DeVille - Heat Of The Moment
2) The Cripples - Loneliness
3) John Hiatt - Spy Boy
4) Madelynn Von Ritz - When I Close My Eyes I See Blood
5) Mutiny - Lump
6) Rough Trade - Shakedown
7) Willy DeVille - Pullin' My String
8) Germs - Lions Share
9) The Cripples - Hypnotize
10) Willy DeVille - It's So Easy

Produced by Jack Nitzsche
Mastered for this SACD by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio

Audio Fidelity To Release Tangerine Dream “Thief” Original Motion Picture Soundtrack On 180g Vinyl

“An impressive soundtrack...a signature film score and certainly one of the best electronic scores of the 80's.”

Camarillo, CA – Marshall Blonstein's Audio Fidelity will be releasing Tangerine Dream's Theif OST on 180g vinyl in November 2015. Tangerine Dream is among the most successful electronic groups of all time. The band was chosen by Michael Mann to write and produce the original score for Thief, his 1981 directorial debut. Tangerine Dream added their patented pulses, blips and whooshes to the film's highly stylized visual scenes. Up to this time, no one had ever used a sequencer for a neo-noir film...this score is one of the most unusual of its kind for American cinema.

Rather than a full orchestral score, Tangerine Dream's techno-based score uses synthesizer, percussion and electric guitar making for a fascinating and exciting soundtrack. Tracks like “Dr. Destructo” have a fast-paced percussion tempo. An engaging melody on “Beach Theme” makes it one of the album's most familiar and popular tracks, while “Trap Feeling” has a delicacy that compares favorably to Brian Eno's Music for Films.

There were two versions of the album only the US release included “Confrontation” an actual rock song of guitars, bass and drums written by Craig Safan. Band member, Edgar Froese stated at the time,”It was a pleasure working on the film because the exotic and shifting moods of Thief were perfectly suited to the kind of music we played...and yet we knew the music would also stand on its own.”

The soundtrack and the movie are inseparable. The music and movie have grown beyond cult classic status becoming an important part of the collected works of Tangerine Dream and Mann.

Tracks:
SIDE ONE
1. Beach Theme
2. Dr. Destructo
3. Diamond Diary
4. Burning Bar

SIDE TWO
1. Scrap Yard
2. Trap Feeling
3. Igneous
4. Confrontation

Christopher Franke– synthesizers, electronic equipment, electronic percussion

Mike Oldfield's “The Space Movie” Original Soundtrack To Be Released On CD For The First Time!

London, UK - GONZO Multimedia will be releasing a newly restored and (finally) complete edition of Mike Oldfield and Tony Palmer's “The Space Movie.” For the very first time the original soundtrack featuring all the talk-back between the astronauts and ground control, as well as orchestral versions of music by Mike Oldfield will be released on CD!

This classic film was originally commissioned by London Weekend Television and Virgin Films in 1979 to mark the 10th Anniversary of the first landing on the moon, July 21st 1969. A recent discovery of a print in mint condition has enabled us to issue the film in a sparkling new (and complete!) edition.

Producer Tony Palmer explains, “The invitation to make the film came out of the clear blue sky from NASA in January 1978. I was invited to Washington and shown the mountain of film NASA had collected from the very beginnings with John Glenn, the first astronaut to orbit the earth in February 1962, until Apollo 17 December 1972. Use whatever I wanted, I was told, plus all the talk-back between ground control in Houston and the various space missions. NASA's extraordinary and spectacular images made me realize I had access to a treasure house beyond imagination.

“From the beginning, I wanted Mike Oldfield to write the music, and the soundtrack which emerged – a combination of hitherto unreleased recordings including the orchestral versions of Oldfield's early masterpieces, 'Tubular Bells' and 'Hergest Ridge' - is remarkable, perfect in every way; evocative, powerful, an inspiring match for the images. And I'm sure it is that, plus of course the astonishing NASA footage and the sound of the astronauts chatting away in space. Virgin Films may have long gone, but together these elements made and make the film what it is - something rather special.”

At a Gala Screening in the Egyptian Cinema in Hollywood in 2008, the film was introduced by Buzz Aldrin, the second man to walk upon the moon. He said: “It gives me enormous pleasure, and a thrill, to be able to introduce Tony Palmer's remarkable film about our space adventures. I say remarkable because at the time it was made, 1978/9, very little of the footage you are about to see had ever been seen in public, images which are now so familiar as to be truly iconic. But it was Tony who used them first, and we are very pleased that he did, even if he did construct the longest take-off in history! I still get a chill hearing some of the talk-back which, like the footage, NASA had provided for Tony to use. When the rocket takes off, boy is that a roller-coaster ride, bumpy as hell. So when you hear my voice saying 'little bit of shaking there', you'll know what I mean! So thank you Tony for what you did.”

The distinguished film critic Alexander Walker said after the first screenings: “The best British film screened at Cannes (in 1980) was Mike Oldfield and Tony Palmer's 'The Space Movie', with unique footage from NASA and music by Mike Oldfield. Palmer’s film combines both in a wonderful, at times profoundly moving, tribute to the astronauts from Cape Kennedy. The film includes one of the finest space launches ever collated, with footage that is unbelievably spectacular. Full marks to director Tony Palmer. The result is breathtaking, beautiful and brilliant.”

This version comes complete with Director's Cut BONUS DVD of the movie.
