Newborn Are Getting Down To Earth With 'Gravity' Taken From Self Titled EP - Out 14th July

Newborn's nostalgic yet surprisingly uplifting anthem 'Gravity' features grungy guitars and heartfelt lyrics. With an almost harrowing opening guitar riff, as soon as the vocals come in you are lulled into a hazy state leaving you feeling the raw emotion behind the song without even thinking.

With the mesmerising EP scheduled for release on June the 14th it's a tantalising wait to hear the rest of the tracks. Quoting the frontman Allen 'Music ... It really does heal people.’ so particularly if you are in need of a little boost, watch their social media religiously in order to hear them first.

The Colossal Heads Prepare For Colossal New EP ‘Mammoths’

Revelling in the heavier side of indie rock, The Colossal Heads are a group on the rise who have been compared to artists such as Queens of the Stone Age, Incubus, Modest Mouse and Nirvana. These are not bands whose names should be taken lightly in terms of comparison – thankfully The Colossal Heads do them justice.

Those bands rose in the 90’s and early 2000’s due to a rock genre that had gone from being anti-establishment to part of the norm. In recent years the cycle has started again, and The Colossal Heads are here to shake things up once more. To offer further proof, check out the album lead track ‘Mammoths’.

Engineered by Louis Cressy, the EP (and single) are a timely reminder of the power that rock music can have.

Another vital part of any musical success is a propensity for hard work, an area in which The Colossal Heads excel almost as much as their song writing. In a prime example, they toured from New Orleans to California from May-June 2015, living out of their Toyota and sleeping on floors along the way. This grass roots approach carries over to their methods of promotion as well. Relying on Facebook, local radio and word of mouth, the band has continued to develop and grow their fan base as their music has become increasingly assured.
‘Mammoths’ is the final result of this evolution, an EP which steps outside of the box and shows how complacent rock music has become in recent times.

Prog Trio SkyTalk Release Debut EP “Days in the Sun”

NYC - Much to the excitement of prog fans worldwide, progressive rock trio SkyTalk has released their highly anticipated debut EP “Days in the Sun”! SkyTalk is a 3 piece collaborative effort formed in January 2015 by twin brothers Jordan and Talor Steinberg and Dan “Ello” Costello. Costello was introduced to the twins by a mutual friend while all three were attending Purchase College. They bonded instantly on a similar taste in music, particularly 70's progressive rock bands like Yes and Rush. Shortly after meeting, the three met up again to jam and quickly found that they had an undeniable musical chemistry, as well as similar inner philosophies on life and music. Eager to form a band, the three began writing original music together and were surprised at the effortlessness of the process, writing five songs in a matter of two months that would later become their “Days in the Sun” EP.

Blending their love of progressive music as well as soul and funk influences, SkyTalk polished their newfound sound and recorded the EP in the following months. With a lyrical emphasis on spiritual concepts, and the shared belief that music is a necessary and powerful force of healing and expression in the world, SkyTalk has released their first EP and is currently working on a new full length record which even further emphasizes these principles. The band is currently booking shows in the New York area as their full length record nears completion.

Says Ello, “The theme of this EP is spirituality and healing. The songs deal with healing past hurts and coming to terms with who you really are now as apposed to who you thought you would be. Meditation and becoming free of your mind was another revolving theme, especially in the song 'Fall Awake'. 'Say' deals with honesty and overcoming barriers that prevent one from opening up completely to others.”

The album was written between the Steinberg brothers basement and the music school where the three all teach private lessons. Each song began as pieces and were refined through jam sessions between the three and further planning in the studio. Lyrics always began as a conversation and were written after the music was ready. The recording process took place over a few months and was recorded between three different studios, engineered, produced and mastered by Jeremy Kinney, a friend of the three from school. NO metronomes were used in the recording process.

Dan “Ello” Costello has been drumming and writing music since he was 15. In and out of a few not so serious bands in high school, he also wrote original music of his own, both electronic and singer songwriter solo projects until joining SkyTalk. Ello is currently studying music at Purchase College and working as a drum instructor at School of Rock. Jordan and Talor Steinberg have been performing in bands since their early teenage years, playing all over the New York city area. Outside of the band the two are currently private music instructors.

SkyTalk is currently booking shows in New York and in the East Coast, as well as beginning to record a full length album. They are also working on two different music videos, one of a cover and one for their original song “Days in the Sun”.

In closing Ello has this to impart. “The message of SkyTalk's music is to believe in positivity, spirituality and to dare to be yourself unapologetically. As musicians our goal is to continue to push ourselves past our limits and write music that continues to challenge us.”

Rumboy – ‘Rumboy EP’ Review

Rumboy – ‘Rumboy EP’

Aged only 21, Jay Thackery has already played in venues across the North West, and recorded several EPs under different names. His latest project, Rumboy, sees his years of experience entertaining crowds come together in his most intriguing release yet.

Rumboy brings together pop melodies and darker lyrics, as he sings of bad break-ups and difficulties in relationships in ‘Stay’ and ‘Girl (Don’t Bother Me None)’, while ‘Whereuleftme’ recalls the heartbreaking ballads of superstar Sam Smith.

The Lancastrian’s lyrics won’t be winning Thackery awards any time soon – he declares “I’d do anything to make you stay / But you say you’re going away” – but he has produced decent guitar-driven pop songs which, for a debut, make him one to look out for.

The ‘Rumboy EP’ will be released on August 31st

Go Primitive Ready For Impact With New EP ‘100 Ways’

Five track collection due for release July 13th

A four piece from the UK, Go Primitive are a band who specialise in contemporary rock with a unique twist, following in the footsteps of groups like Foo Fighters and Twin Atlantic while forging their very own sound. It’s an approach which is paying dividends, with previous tracks being fast-tracked onto BBC Introducingshows within a week of uploading.

Always working hard on new material, their next release sees them on rollicking form with new EP ‘100 Ways’, a five song collection inspired by the many obstacles placed in front of independent musicians. Lead single ‘Breathe in, Bleed out’ sees them on typical top form, showing Go Primitive’s rock credentials in all their glory and going all out to bust through those obstacles…

Produced by Romesh Dodangoda (Kids in Glass Houses, Funeral For A Friend, Twin Atlantic, Motorhead, The Blackout, Bullet For My Valentine,  Lower Than Atlantis, Bring Me The Horizon), the EP is unsurprisingly dazzling in its depth of quality. The attention to detail that has gone into infusing these studio tracks with the energy of a live show is what will set them apart. That same attention to detail has also been extended to the excellent artwork, produced by Kids in Glass Houses front man Aled Phillips.

That Go Primitive are associated with such names goes a long way to proving their credentials as they climb the independent music ladder. They have already supported The Subways, We Are The Ocean and others, getting a fantastic response from the big crowds along the way. This, along with the fact that they can count The Editors as fans, has given Go Primitive great confidence that they are on the right track.

It’s that confidence which has given rise in large part to the ‘100 Ways’ EP. In the band’s own words:
“The E.P is a show of our strength to overcome the struggles and constant roadblocks put in front of many bands at our stage. We hope that after countless efforts, this will be the E.P that makes our name stand up to the bigger acts out there and pushes us further in our musical journey.”

A perfect blend of four personalities all fighting for the same goal, the current line up of Go Primitive has moved through various iterations to land in its final configuration. With each band member bringing their own musical background and experiences from different bands and projects, this is one band with all the tools and the grit to break through in 2015.

The ‘100 Ways’ EP is released July 13th.

Live Dates:
1 August - Atherstone Festival - Atherstone
5th September - Welfest - Welford Upon Avon
19th September - The Pig and Drum - Worcester
24th September - Big show to be announced
26th September - Homegrown Festival - Oxford

Cherry White Set To Precede New EP ‘Staring at the Sun’ With Stylish Single ‘Drifter’

‘Drifter’ to be released 1st June, followed by EP on 8th June

Folding the old school songwriting smarts of Fleetwood Mac into the contemporary edge of the Raconteurs, London based four piece Cherry White are an immediately impressive proposition. Their in your face indie-blues sound is highlighted by great hooks and high energy, blending genres in a way that sets them apart from more pigeonholed bands.

Currently building a buzz with their live shows in and around London, Cherry White have now taken to the studio to record a brand new EP, ‘Staring at the Sun’. Inspired by life in London during this austerity era, surrounded by the greed of the wealthy, the tracks circle around an aspiration to reach higher and achieve their goals in the music industry and beyond.

The EP is led out of the gate by single ‘Drifter’, which will be released on June 1st, one week prior to the full EP:  https://soundcloud.com/cherrywhitemusic/drifter

Engineered at Bark Studios by the excellent Brian O’Shaughnessy (Primal Scream, The Firm, My Bloody Valentine), the EP does a fantastic job of capturing the frenetic energy of a band who thrive on a live environment.

Cherry White’s live reputation was cemented at ‘Togfest’ in 2014, where their festival debut to a huge crowd was so well received they immediately sold out of albums. Having also taken to the stage at some of London’s top venues, including The Troubadour, Hope and Anchor (Islington) and Covent Garden Arts Theatre, their reputation in our fair capital is beginning to grow. Further afield, a BBC Wales live session a number of years ago proved there’s life outside the city for this eclectic group.

And with the single and EP on the way, Cherry White will be working harder than ever to make sure that reputation continues to grow into the music career they deserve.

Kinky Dove Rock Out With New Self-Titled EP

3 track release set to be unleashed on June 15th
Born in in Australia but now living in London, Kindy Dove is the musical moniker of frontman Scott Wade and his evolving collective of musicians. Progenitors of gritty, driving rock, the group are readying themselves for a fresh assault on the music industry with a brand new three track EP.

Their particular brand of rock and roll, defined in many ways by the bluesy, post-rock growl of Wade on vocals, is currently in short supply both nationally and globally, and Kinky Dove are now looking to redress that balance.

For a taste of their punchy style, check out the video to EP track ‘Some Kind of Fool’, featuring an epic slap-happy montage of Hollywood moments.
