Chilean Prog Ensemble AISLES Release New Live EP

“Live from Estudio del Sur”, a mini-album recorded live, is available on CD and digital platforms

“Live from Estudio del Sur” is Aisles’ latest release. The EP was recorded at Estudio del Sur, and includes newly done versions of the songs “Clouds Motion”, “Shallow and Daft”, “Still Alive” and “Club Hawaii”. Germán Vergara, guitarist, describes it as “a blend between some of earliest and some of our newest compositions, all in the same set, with the current Aisles sound. 'Clouds Motion' is one of the first songs we recorded as a band. We also made a new version of 'Shallow and Daft, where we invited the singer Catalina Blanco from the band Téfiret. The last two tracks, 'Still Alive' and 'Club Hawaii', capture the hopeless atmosphere of our concept album 'Hawaii' and reflect what the band is doing nowadays. People will like the sound on the EP as the songs feel more organic and heavier that on the albums.”

Also, these songs were a series of live sessions filmed by director Bernardo Quesney, who has also worked with Chilean artists Gepe, Javiera Mena and Colombina Parra, among others.

Chilean Prog Ensemble Aisles Premiere Last Video of Live Series and Announce EP

The “Live from Estudio del Sur” sessions will be out on July

Chilean Prog ensemble Aisles, South America's most acclaimed prog band of the last 10 years, is premiering the last video of their “Live from Estudio del Sur” sessions, for the song “Club Hawaii”, which was originally released on the album “Hawaii” (2016). The clip was directed by Bernardo Quesney, who has worked with artists like Gepe and Javiera Mena.

Says Aisles guitarist, German Vergara, “We knew that 'Club Hawaii' could not be left out of this live series. It's a very collective effort in which we incorporated elements from electronic and Latin music, pop, jazz, and even metal, so as to transport the listener to the future in which the concept of the album takes place. We used more distortion, sounded heavier than usual and Sebastián recites a heart wrenching poem in the darkest section of the song. Personally it's my favorite on the 'Hawaii' album and I'm very proud of my lyrics. When playing it live I get goosebumps every time we reach the part 'Turn my soul into flesh and soil and blood and waves...'”

Watch the video here:

The session started with the video for 'Clouds Motion', and it continued with 'Shallow and Daft', 'Still Alive', and 'Club Hawaii'. All of these songs will be included on their new EP, “Live from Estudio del Sur” which will be out on July 6th and it will be available on digital platforms and on a limited edition CD. Chilean Prog Ensemble Aisles Premieres Third New Video "Still Alive"

Chilean Prog ensemble Aisles, South America's most acclaimed prog band of the last 10 years, is premiering the third video of their “Live from Estudio del Sur” sessions, for the song “Still Alive”, which was originally released on their latest album “Hawaii”.

Watch Aisles new video for “Still Alive”:

Says Aisles guitarist, German Vergara, “ 'Still Alive' is one of the most representative songs, and maybe the saddest, on our latest album "Hawaii". Capturing that feeling of hopelessness was a challenge both for the band and for the director of the video, Bernardo Quesney. Sonically, it is different from the album version because it is much less processed. What you hear is Aisles organic live sound, just like you'd hear it at one of our concerts. Even the tempo of the song changed as a result of that search”.

Chilean Prog Ensemble Aisles Premieres New Video "Shallow and Daft"

Chilean Prog ensemble Aisles, South America's most acclaimed prog band of the last 10 years, is premiering the second video of their “Live from Estudio del Sur” sessions, for the song “Shallow and Daft”, which was originally released on the album “4:45 AM” (2013). The clip was directed by Bernardo Quesney, who has worked with artists like Gepe and Javiera Mena.

Pure Grain Audio has premiered Aisles new video for “Shallow and Daft”:http://puregrainaudio.com/videos/aisles-take-aim-at-the-shallow-and-daft-in-new-in-studio-playthrough-exclusive-premiere

Says Aisles guitarist, German Vergara, “Shallow and Daft is a song with a strong criticism to the logic behind the mass entertainment industry. We wanted to be deliberately ironic and the original version had a notoriously '80s pop sound. When we decided to release this series of videos we thought we could make it more current with a modern, fresher sound. Additionally, we wanted to include a feminine touch so we invited the talented singer Catalina Blanco from the rock band Tephiret. We kept the message but presented it in a new form”.

Chilean Prog ensemble Aisles, South America's most acclaimed prog band of the last 20 years, is releasing their “Live from Estudio del Sur” sessions. The first of four videos is for the song “Clouds Motion” from Aisles' debut studio album, “The Yearning.” Says Aisles guitarist, Germán Vergara, “The reason why we chose to record 'Clouds Motion' is because, even though it's one of our oldest tunes, to this day it still represents all of us and it is one of the favorite songs of the audience that has followed us from the beginning of our career.”

Their songs are a journey, as they are not just about seeing Aisles play, but there is an actual musical conversation and a challenge between the instruments.”

Chilean Prog Ensemble Aisles To Tour US For The First Time In Support of Critically Acclaimed Album "Hawaii"

Chile - Aisles, the acclaimed South American prog rock sextet, will tour the United States for the first time in their career to play five dates, including the festivals Progstock in Rahway, New Jersey, and Progtoberfest, in Chicago, Illinois.

Aisles will be performing part of their latest record, “Hawaii,” a two-disc concept album about human colonies established in space after the destruction of the Earth. Its twelve tracks explore the dilemmas and challenges that the individual and the human spirit would face in this futuristic scenario. Regarding the theme and sound of the album, guitarist and producer Germán Vergara states: “Without a doubt it's our most profound work so far. With 'Hawaii' we dug deep in search of a concept that could really move us. Our objective was to write music that would emotionally and mentally take us to the place where the events in the album occur: Space.”

“All the music on the album was written with our hearts and minds set on the idea of these human colonies, a small group of people who are able to preserve some of the heritage of mankind after the Earth is destroyed. Musically speaking we had never taken so many risks, tried so many different approaches and allowed ourselves this level of freedom to improvise and experiment. I am really proud of what we’ve achieved this time,” Vergara adds. “Hawaii” has been acclaimed by specialized media like Prog magazine, Neoprog and All About the Rock.

“ 'Hawaii' is a work of genius. A mind expanding experience” - All About the Rock

“A joyous expression of individuality. One of the year's highlights” - Prog

Progressive Rock Review: Aisles-4:45AM

Release Date: October 29, 2014
Label: Presagio Records

Who is Aisles? Aisles is one of the greatest, most creative and talented bands that you have probably never heard of.  Hailing from Chile, the band consists of Sebastián Vergara (Vocals), Rodrigo Sepúlveda (Guitars), Germán Vergara (Guitars), Juan Pablo Gaete (Keyboards), Daniel Baird-Kerr (Bass), and Felipe Candia (Drums).  A progressive rock band with art rock, world, fusion, and other influences, Aisles have created themselves a unique sound that is not soon forgotten.  4:45 AMis their third album and it is nothing short of a masterwork of art.  It is the reason people fall in love with music in the first place.

“4:45 AM” is a stunning opener that will have you falling in love with this band.  From the rhythmic and soulful music to the emotional and distinct vocals that jump out at you, it is hard not to stand up and take notice of the talent on display.  The music is fresh, popping, and invigorating, or everything that progressive world music should be. “Gallarda Yarura” might as well be the soundtrack to the fantastical dreams of an imaginative child. The music is light and hopeful, making for a very pleasant sounding instrumental.

Do not be fooled by the seemingly upbeat melody, because “Shallow and Daft” can be seen as a tale of what happens when an artist gives up his artistic integrity, as well as a biting commentary on the state of modern popular music.  It is dark, it is lyrical, and it is spot on.  “Back My Strength” is a musical tour de force.  The music rises and falls with the naturalness of an ocean wave, and is grand and majestic as a snow-capped mountain.

A low-key approach is used with great effect on “The Sacrifice.”  The acoustic guitar lingers in the background as the passion and pain in the vocals steal the show.  It is a somber song with the dark beauty of a romantic painting.  “The Ship” is a short interlude that leads into the spacey and hypnotic instrumental “Intermission.”  “Sorrow” is simply breathtaking.  The vocal performances are top notch, as the male and female vocals complement each other so well, in addition to be sounding so beautiful and powerful on their own.  The Latin/Jazz influences present in the song make it stand out that much more.

With its dark and ominous sounding opening, “Hero” has me thinking a bit of Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon.  It becomes a bit brighter as the tempo picks up and the keyboards kick in, while the guitar and drums razzle and dazzle. Another change in tempo slows it back down and the atmosphere becomes more mystical.  It is definitely a stand-out song and the one that comes to mind when I think of this album.  The finale, “Melancholia”, is pure genius.  It is a work of art that will take you on an emotional journey that is very reflective.  As the song winds down, there is a calm of looking out into an ocean after a storm has passed and it is magnificent.

If you are in any way a fan of progressive rock, than I cannot recommend Aisles’ 4:45 AM to you enough.  If there is a band to take a risk on, then Aisles is that band to do so, because this album is everything that this type of music should strive to be.  It is fresh, challenging, inspired, touching, and so much more.  A complete experience from start to finish, 4:45 AM is an astounding piece of work for the ages.
