For as long as I could remember I have always been around music. From when I was young I loved all genres ranging from pop to r&b, gospel to hip hop, country to electronic, you name it! I found my voice in the jr. choir which I’m ever so grateful for. The church is where I first discovered my voice. Attending Howard University then led somewhere different, It is where I found my passion for the world of fashion. Anticipating the important connection between my two favorite things I was soon blessed with an opportunity to work at VOGUE. Eventually I was able to walk the runways as a model for Calvin Klein, Prada, Alexander McQueen and more. I am now happy to now introduce my self as a brand new artist who is just a singer from Brooklyn.

Dominic Augustin, is the founder and CEO of Nickoli August, he is a Content Curator that specializes in photography ranging from Castings and Street style to fashion still life and editorials. Through his parents who emigrated from Haiti in the early 80’s he experienced the world through a unique point of view. Dominic believes that because he was able to grow up learning different cultures, this allowed him to see how people can possess different qualities. Like this, he wants to combine fashion digital world with his favorite forms of art. Being inspired by music, Television and Film allows him to tap into many different emotions incorporating them into is brand and in his designs.

Track Feature: The Song Gardeners-Reveal

 

I have been listening to the Song Gardeners music from track to track since last year. Every time I hear a song from these wonderful artists it just melts the day away. All I hear is great music and the most pleasing and soothing voices you can imagine. 

"Reveal" is their latest offering. So far this is my favorite. Everything about it just soothed my soul. These two ladies have it together. What was once a trio is now a duo. It looks like they have carried on without missing a step with their presentation and sound.

I also appreciate the gorgeous cover art. The message I get from that colorful cover is that nature and humans are interlocked, we are one. And that my music loving friends is a fact, and the reason we need to take better care of Mother Earth.

One listen to this track will have you hooked because it is a true to life "Reveal" of music and lyrics with tremendous power and meaning. If you are looking for one thing today to make you smile and give you a universal feeling of hope, then listen now!

Track Feature: Fusion Mafiosi-Fall From Grace

 

Guitar wizard Danny John and his band are his first collaborative project by the members of Danny John Trio, Danny John, James Dennett, Marcos Gil, and friends, Justin Defreece (Guitar), Derek Sherinian (Keyboards).  They are called Fusion Mafiosi.

The first single "Fall From Grace," clocks in at 11:36. It is an amazing musical jam session that will remind you of the best jazz-rock-fusion from bands like Return To Forever and Mahavishnu Orchestra at times. After 10 minutes he launches into full head-on metal riffs and some shredding.

So if you are looking for a taste of jazz-fusion, metal, and flat out shredding all in under 12 minutes, then you will definitely find great appreciation for "Fall From Grace."

Danny John is a superb six-sting maestro that I would not mind hearing a lot more!

Featured Track: Dan Palladino-Leaving Cygnus

 

Dan Palladino has released several albums over his career and most recently in 2019 Pastoral Memory.

Dan Commented: With the single track "Leaving Cygnus," I wanted to continue the experiments which began on "Counting Stars" from Pastoral Memory. I find the electric sitar uniquely suited for ambient music, and I think featuring it on this track gives it the middle eastern/southern Asian vibe I was trying to create.  

 I would agree with that statement after listening to the track. I think the combination of the ambient music and all its sounds and textures are enhanced in a very positive way.  In fact, it actually highlights the other instruments in an entirely different light.  

"Leaving Cignus" continues the path of solar exploration in a most significant way with music and eye catching art like what Dan presents on the cover of this single track.

My hope as a listener is that Dan Palladino continues to experiment with different instruments to put on top of the ambient layers he creates. 

So sit back and listen to the stream now and enjoy this interstellar creation of music!

Miss Velvet and The Blue Wolf know how to rock. They were good enough to tour with George Clinton and Parliament last year so that tells you something.

The video provided is a practice session before their tour performing the track "Launch."

I thought of one of my favorite bands Living Colour when they kicked into high gear.
Their sound is composed of funk, high octane rock, hard rock, and psychedelic. Maybe Hendrix would have sounded this way if he had lived and continued to record into the 70s. We will never know that but now we have a band like Miss Velvet and The Blue Wolf to satisfy the need for a rockin' band that blends a little bit of everything.
 
And let us not forgot the great lead vocals of Miss Velvet and her marvelous stage presence. It takes energy and charisma to get a great song across to the audience and this lady knows how to bring it with powerhouse vocals in a sexy whirling dervish way.

I had a great time interviewing Kevin Godley an amazing multi-faceted artist that was in 10cc on four excellent recordings, recorded some great music with his band mate Lol Creme and continued on with a solo career and many other projects.

Every year certain albums and songs make history and are remembered for eternity.  And along those lines, some events change the world. 2020 was full of life-changing events and the most prolific and shocking was the unnecessary death of a human being. George Floyd will be remembered for his untimely death. I have never been so horrified when I saw the video of that fateful day. I am sure millions of other people feel the same way.

Deitrick Haddon and Mickey Stevenson got together to write a track titled "I Can't Breathe."
 

 

Mickey Stevenson (pictured with Smokey Robinson) was one of the most important and influential figures in the history of recorded music, making a name for himself with the legendary Motown label. The combination of Haddon with Stevenson is a powerful coupling that was a cannot miss proposition.

As you will see and hear with the video presented honoring George Floyd, there were no punches pulled and it all comes straight from the heart for both men.

 

Haddon has some strong pipes and lets go giving it all that he possibly could. The lyric video and images are equally powerful. This is about being an American, and our diversity and how every human being regardless of race, creed, or religion deserves respect. The music deflates the hate and causes behind events like we all witnessed this year.

"I Can't Breathe" is statement musically and spiritually. We are all one race living on one planet. Our commonality is the love for our fellow men and women and in the end, our love for the universal language of music comes shining through! Let it be a beacon of light leading us all down the right road.

Haddon launched his solo career as a Christian R&B vocalist with the Lost & Found on Tyscot/Verity in 2002. The set peaked at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Gospel Charts and received wide critical acclaim and spawned the hit "Sinner's Prayer" which was played extensively on gospel and mainstream R&B radio stations.

The 1970s-leaning Crossroads followed in 2004, led off by the upbeat single "God is Good". In an uncharacteristic move for marketing a gospel album, Haddon made an appearance on the long-running syndicated series Soul Train performing the single and the title track from the album.

Featured Track: Nick Duane-That's What You Want

Nick Duane has a new single out titled "That's What You Want." 

The fuzz guitar sound throughout the rockin' track reminded me fondly of that buzzing sound on The Ventures track "2000 Pound Bee." It is one of the first things I could think of. But there was more to it than that...

I thought of Bowie being an influence in his sound and approach. I am sure there are lot of influences there but that was top of mind for me.

I really enjoyed the track so much. It is a combination of rock, alternative, and garage with a punk attitude. All the flavors that provide endless energy for listeners to stay tuned!  Just like he Nicks says in the track "Too Cool For School."

His songwriting brings to mind the classic pop-rock tracks that came out of both England and the US during the late 80s and 90s.
