HAWKWIND Co-Founder NIK TURNER Boldly Goes Into THE FINAL FRONTIER!

Los Angeles, CA - After suiting up as the Space Gypsy in 2013, blasting off on an epic Space Fusion Odyssey in 2015 and enjoying Life In Space in 2017, pioneering musician/songwriter Nik Turner is now set to venture to the outer reaches of space rock with his awe-inspiring new studio album The Final Frontier! Picking up where his last album left off, Turner brings another set of psychedelic freak-out grooves that will take listeners on a journey they won’t soon forget! Standout tracks include the album opener “Out Of Control,” a super-collider of rollicking psych rock that unites saxophone and guitar in spectacular fashion, and the dramatic space ballad “Interstellar Aliens.” Once again joining our intrepid traveler Turner is Nicky Garratt of UK Subs and Hedersleben, Jürgen Engler of Die Krupps, and Jason Willer of UK Subs and Jello Biafra’s band as well as special guest appearances by Hawkwind alumni Simon House and Paul Rudolph. Available on CD in a digipak case as well as a gorgeous limited-edition yellow vinyl in a gatefold jacket! The Final Frontier will be in stores everywhere starting March 8.

Invincible Space Rock God, NIK TURNER, co-founder of HAWKWIND, Returns With A Brand New Album & North American Tour!

Los Angeles, CA - The Return Of The Thunder Rider! Hawkwind co-founder Nik Turner teleports back to Earth with a brand new album, Life In Space, to be released on September 29 via Purple Pyramid Records. The album features some of Nik’s most mature songs in years including the emotional opener “End Of The World” featuring a special guest performance by former Hawkwind/Pink Fairies member Paul Rudolph. Another Hawkwind alumnus, violinist Simon House, jumps on board for the space trippy “Why Are You?.” Turner also revisits one of the Hawkwind classics that he co-wrote, “Master Of The Universe,” giving the tune a modern twist. Life In Space will be available on both CD and colored vinyl (your choice of blue or white).

Once again, Turner will be hitting the road in support of the album on a coast-to-coast North American tour alongside neo-prog rockers Hedersleben.

Frequently called “The Spirit Of Hawkwind,” Turner was a major creative force during that group’s most critically acclaimed and successful period, 1969-1976. His outlandish costumes, improvised sax and flute playing, and general wild man persona became iconic representations of the band, and we would go on to pen some of their most popular songs including “Brainstorm” and “Master of the Universe.” After leaving Hawkwind, Turner used his newfound freedom to travel to Egypt, where he soaked up the history and culture, and also made a recording of his flute music in the King’s Chamber of the Great Pyramid of Cheops. In 1985, Turner relocated to the western side of Wales, where he set up a new age community in a fairly rural, isolated area. He has continued to release new music including 2013’s Space Gypsy, 2015’s Space Fusion Odyssey, and this year’s Life In Space.

Hawkwind Legend Nik Turner Responds To Recent Article, Prepares to Tour Europe, Japan & The US

London - In response to a recent article in PROG magazine Hawkwind legend Nik Turner had this to impart:

“It sorely saddens me that the members and previous members of that once noble group, Hawkwind, of which I numbered myself a part at the time, are not all able to communicate in the same loving way that we did, back in the day, when the band's success was enhanced and encouraged by the love and creative input and energies, much of a wise and Alternative ilk, of such loving and caring people as Mr Barney Bubbles [RIP], Mr Michael Moorcock, Mr Jonathan Smeeton, Mr Robert Calvert [RIP], and many more, who gave their unconditional love and creative energies to the band. Come on, guys, let's work together. I wish all members of Hawkwind, past, present and future, nothing but health, wealth, success, happiness and loving energy. Let's all be friends, life is too short for any other course.”

Turner, the inexhaustible saxophone and flute-playing co-founder of space rock legends Hawkwind, is set to complete a tour throughout Europe and Japan as well as a return Stateside for another tour this Fall accompanied by up-and-coming kraut/prog rock band Hedersleben. Dates for the U.S. tour will be announced later this month. Following what has been widely regarded as the most ambitious album of his career, one that MOJO called “a sprawling but polished album,” Space Fusion Odyssey, Turner continues his astonishing career rebirth with a newly reinvigorated sense of musical creativity and sonic exploration. Turner’s most recent offering is a full-length album of improvisational jazz freakouts with a Seattle-based ensemble, which includes drummer Jack Gold-Molina and guitarist Dennis Rea (both of psych/prog band Spectral Waves), alongside bassist Paul “PK” Kemmish. Dubbed Flame Tree, the group released its self-titled album last month on Cleopatra’s Purple Pyramid imprint.

Frequently called “The Spirit Of Hawkwind,” Turner was a major creative force during that group's most critically acclaimed and successful period, 1969-1976. His outlandish costumes, improvised sax and flute playing, and general wild man persona became iconic representations of the band, and he would go on to pen some of their most popular songs including “Brainstorm” and “Master of the Universe.” After leaving Hawkwind, Turner used his newfound freedom to travel to Egypt, where he soaked up the history and culture, and also made a recording of his flute music in the King's Chamber of the Great Pyramid of Cheops. In 1985, Turner relocated to the western side of Wales, where he set up a new age community in a fairly rural, isolated area. He has continued to release new music including 2013’s Space Gypsy and 2015's Space Fusion Odyssey.

A brand new track from his forthcoming studio album premieres on a special 6CD box set called Space Rock: An Interstellar Traveler's Guide. This incredible collection features a diverse sampling of space rock artists young and old including Hawkwind, Amon Düül II, Ozric Tentacles, Gong, Can, Earthling Society, and Hedersleben along with a whole host of others!

Hawkwind Alum NIK TURNER Brings His Spacey Sax & Freaky Flute Playing To A New Album By Experimental Jazz Fusion Ensemble FLAME TREE!

Los Angeles, CA - Having explored the intersection of space rock and jazz fusion on his newest solo album, 2015’s Space Fusion Odyssey, Hawkwind co-founder Nik Turner continues his bold expedition into the outer reaches of experimental music, recording a new full-length album of improvisational jazz freakouts with a Seattle-based ensemble including drummer Jack Gold-Molina and guitarist Dennis Rea (both of psych/prog band Spectral Waves), alongside bassist Paul “PK” Kemmish. The group owes its origins to a meeting between Gold-Molina and Turner, when Gold-Molina interviewed the British space-rock legend back in 2009 for an article in All About Jazz magazine. The idea for a musical collaboration between the two emerged, and as Gold-Molina recalls, “I believe Nik’s exact words were, ‘If people have got the balls to come onstage with me, then they are welcome to.’” And so began the journey that would lead these fearless souls from an initial round of freeform demo recording to putting a full blown band together, recording an album, and even performing live at Seattle’s Seaprog Festival in August of 2015. Enlisting Seattle icon Jack Endino, famed producer of Nirvana, L7, Screaming Trees and others, to mix the album, the band is now set to release this self-titled project on May 20 through Purple Pyramid Records.

Track List:
1. Mosquitos
2. Past Lives
3. In The Distance
4. Liquid
5. Organic Truth
6. Tantalium
7. Wild Flower

Hawkwind Legend Nik Turner Releases New Album Space Fusion Odyssey Feat. Members of The Doors, Gong, Soft Machine, Amon Düül II and Others!

Featuring guest appearances by Billy Cobham, Robby Krieger, Steve Hillage, Gilli Smyth, John Etheridge, John Weinzierl and others!

Los Angeles - Following the release in 2013 of the most acclaimed album of his solo career, Space Gypsy, Nik Turner is pleased to announced the release of the follow up album Space Fusion Odyssey, out now on Cleopatra Records.

Space Fusion Odyssey is without a doubt the most musically ambitious undertaking Turner has ever attempted, stretching his already prodigious saxophone and flute playing skills to create instrumental soundscapes that entrance, confound, and stimulate all at the same time. As with many of his previous releases, Turner has surrounded himself with an incredible crew of fellow musicians who help him bring his vision to life. Dubbed the Interplanetary Arkestra (hat tip to Sun Ra), the group includes some of the most gifted and groundbreaking musicians of his generation such as legendary jazz drummer Billy Cobham, Doors' guitarist Robby Krieger, Steve Hillage & Gilli Smyth of Gong, Soft Machine’s John Etheridge, Amon Düül II founder John Weinzierl and many more! Space Fusion Odyssey is set to land in July of this year courtesy of Purple Pyramid Records.

The album sees Turner depart on a whole new kind of spaceship, a musical project that finally frees him from the gravitational pull of traditional rock music orbits and launches into new stratospheres of jazz, blues, fusion, and other eclectic styles heretofore unknown to man.

Check out the video for “Hypernova” featuring some truly mind blowing guitar work from both Robby Krieger and Megadeth's Chris Poland:

Space Fusion Odyssey tracks:
1. Adjust The Future
2. Hypernova
3. Spiritual Machines
4. Pulsar
5. An Elliptical Galaxy
6. A Beautiful Vision in Science Forgotten
7. We Came in Peace
8. Interstellar Clouds
9. Spiritual Machines Chapter 2
10. Random Acts

Following the albums release, later in the year The Spirit Of Hawkwind 1969-1976 will be published, the definitive biography of Hawkwind’s early years as told through the eyes of Nik Turner and written by music historian Dave Thompson. The hardcover book contains over 250 pages of rare and unseen photos as well as a comprehensive discography - a feast for Hawkwind fans everywhere.

Hawkwind Co-Founder Nik Turner Pilots A New Video From His Groundbreaking New Album Space Fusion Odyssey!

Los Angeles, CA - “I have traveled far from another place…come to learn from your race…” Nik Turner intones at the outset of “Adjust The Future,” the lead off track from his forthcoming space-rock/jazz-fusion magnum opus Space Fusion Odyssey, scheduled for launch on October 16. The track, like the album as a whole, features Turner’s complex, jazzy improvisations on saxophone with support provided by an insanely talented and diverse group of musicians including Steve Hillage and Gilli Smyth of ‘70s prog legends Gong as well as Chris Poland of metal giant Megadeth and Jürgen Engler of German industrial band Die Krupps. The video mixes footage of Turner with some mindblowing experimental video manipulations that harken back to the psychedelic backdrops Turner’s former band Hawkwind would frequently perform in front of.

Check out the video for “Adjust The Future” here:

Space Fusion Odyssey is without a doubt the most musically ambitious undertaking Turner has ever attempted, stretching his already prodigious saxophone and flute playing skills to create instrumental soundscapes that entrance, confound, and stimulate all at the same time! An incredible crew of fellow musicians, dubbed the Interplanetary Arkestra in a nod to the great Sun Ra, help bring Turner’s vision to life such as legendary jazz drummer Billy Cobham, Doors’ guitarist Robby Krieger, Steve Hillage of Gong, Soft Machine’s John Etheridge, Amon Düül II founder John Weinzierl and many more! The CD comes packaged in a special mini-LP gatefold with a 12-panel poster while the vinyl comes in a deluxe 12-panel poster fold-up jacket and a gorgeous starbust colored vinyl!

In addition, this year will see the publication of The Spirit Of Hawkwind 1969-1976, the definitive biography of Hawkwind’s early years as told through the eyes of Nik Turner and written by music historian Dave Thompson. The hardcover book contains 300 pages of rare and unseen photos, a comprehensive discography, and Nik’s 1975 US tour diary PLUS reproductions of the 1971 “Galactic Tarot” card deck (designed by celebrated graphic designer Barney Bubbles), the 1972 “Sonic Attack” 7” promo one-sided single in a cloth bag, and the 1971 “In Search Of Space” 6x9 20-page promotional booklet! It’s a feast for Hawkwind fans everywhere!

Nik Turner Debuts A Visionary New Song/Video From His Bold New Solo Album!

Los Angeles, CA - In 2013, Nik Turner released the most acclaimed album of his solo career, Space Gypsy, the intergalactically acclaimed masterpiece that found this Hawkwind co-founder returning to his space rock roots alongside fellow Hawkwind alumnus Simon House and others. Now, Turner is preparing for departure on a whole new kind of spaceship, a musical project that finally frees him from the gravitational pull of traditional rock music orbits and launches into new stratospheres of jazz, blues, fusion, and other eclectic styles heretofore unknown to man.

This new album Space Fusion Odyssey is without a doubt the most musically ambitious undertaking Turner has ever attempted, stretching his already prodigious saxophone and flute playing skills to create instrumental soundscapes that entrance, confound, and stimulate all at the same time! As with many of his previous releases, Turner has surrounded himself with an incredible crew of fellow musicians who help him bring his vision to life. Dubbed the Interplanetary Arkestra (hat tip to Sun Ra), the group includes some of the most gifted and groundbreaking musicians of his generation such as legendary jazz drummer Billy Cobham, Doors’ guitarist Robby Krieger, Steve Hillage & Gilli Smyth of Gong, Soft Machine’s John Etheridge, Amon Düül II founder John Weinzierl and many more! Space Fusion Odyssey is set to land in July of this year courtesy of Purple Pyramid Records.

Check out the video for “Hypernova” featuring some truly mindblowing guitar work from both Krieger and Megadeth’s Chris Poland:

Also be on the look out for The Spirit Of Hawkwind 1969-1976, the soon to be released definitive biography of Hawkwind’s early years as told through the eyes of Nik Turner and written by music historian Dave Thompson.
