Guitarist Jeff Aug To Release 9th Acoustic Instrumental Album “Kiss of the Liquid Moon” on February 1, 2024

Guitarist Jeff Aug will be releasing his solo album “Kiss of the Liquid Moon” on February 1, 2024. This will be his 9th acoustic instrumental album (7 solo, 2 as the duo Floating Stone together with Niko Lai who died in 2018). The album is a cross section of his solo acoustic instrumental fingerstyle guitar playing from the last few years. Some of the pieces have been played live, but never recorded. Some have been played live, but never sounded like this. And some will probably never be played live.

For “Kiss of the Liquid Moon”, Jeff enlisted the recording and production prowess of Murat Parlak at his Living Room Studios in Germany. Murat is also featured on many of the tracks, as well as a few other special guests. The album also includes a few purely solo pieces.

Coming off a major European tour in Nov/Dec 2023 as the guitarist for the British icon Anne Clark, Jeff will kick off 2024 with the album release and follow it up with yet another major European tour supporting the legendary fusion guitarist Scott Henderson. The year will follow with yet to be announced Jeff Aug and Ape Shifter (Jeff´s instrumental rock band) festival performances. In September and October 2024, Jeff will be headlining his own European tour. More dates are to be announced.

So, sit back and enjoy “Kiss of the Liquid Moon”.

Joe Satriani Bass Sideman and Mermen Co-founder Allen Whitman Releases New Ambient Soundtrack “Monogatari no Fūkei”

ALLEN WHITMAN, former bassist with legendary virtuoso guitarist JOE SATRIANI and co-founder of the San Francisco-based influential instrumental surf-rock trio THE MERMEN has announced the digital-only release (through label SQUEAKEY STUDIOS) of a new soundtrack/ambient album “MONOGATARI NO FŪKEI.”

The album incorporates acoustic guitar-driven sonic environments with samples and synth that forwards a pace matching its title: “Landscape Of Stories”. The movement, using field recordings made on a recent visit to Japan, is compelling, occasionally contemplative and often propulsive.

ALLEN WHITMAN, a stalwart of the San Francisco music scene, also credits live performance and musical collaboration with, among many others, the likes of HELIOS CREED, TINY TIM, THE SANDALS, THE INK SPOTS, NELS CLINE, MIKE KENEALLY, CARMINE APPICE, DOROTHY MOSKOWITZ, DJ QUEST, SAMMY HAGAR, TONY MACALPINE, DWEEZIL ZAPPA, STEVE LUKATHER, STEVE VAI, STEVE MORSE and JOHN PETRUCCI.

WHITMAN has also worked extensively in live music for theater, particularly with California-based Theatre of Yugen for live performance in a modern Noh style in San Francisco, New York City, Tokyo and Austin.

Guitar Virtuoso Daniel Reyes Llinás To Release New Album “Códices”

Co-produced by King Crimson's Trey Gunn

“Códices” by guitar virtuoso Daniel Reyes Llinás, is a collection of études for acoustic guitar and improvised pieces on the 12-string guitar. Inspired by the spirit of modern Latin American guitar composers, Llinás pays homage through extensive use of shifting resonance, dissonance, rhythmic exuberance, and deliberate silence. The contrast between the written and improvised works serves as a conceptual gesture in the ongoing search for a sonic vocabulary.

The album was recorded in Santa Fé, NM by Grammy awarded engineer Marc Whitmore (Jon Batiste, T-Bone Burnett) and co-produced by Trey Gunn (King Crimson, Tu-Ner).

The pieces are quietly virtuosic with a scope that ranges across continents and eras.  The music pays homage to the pantheon of Latin American composers who have written for guitar while also incorporating harmonies from contemporary jazz and such American and European composers as Feldman, Debussy and Stravinsky.  Extended techniques appear as well with harplike harmonic arpeggios evoking windchimes, wide melodic leaps as if from birdsong, and driving ostinati that groove hard.  One hears free-flowing ballads that turn questioning or flamenco fanfares that expand into ecstatic looping pull offs. A brilliant record that opens new vistas for both the listener and the classical guitarist.” -Elliott Sharp

Three years after releasing his debut solo CD, Places, composer/guitarist, Mark Vickness releases Interconnected featuring four new solo modern fingerstyle compositions and four original pieces with his new ensemble, also called Interconnected. In addition to Mark on acoustic guitars, the ensemble brings together two time Grammy winning violinist, Mads Tolling, cellist Joseph Hebert, Dan Feiszli on upright and electric bass and tabla virtuoso, Ty Burhoe.

Instrumental music is an ideal means of expressing this because it is a universal language. This ensemble is comprised of musicians who are capable of a wide range of styles from different cultures and different eras. I worked hard to write this music with interconnectedness in mind, within each piece individually and in the relationships between the pieces themselves.”

Guitarist Mark Vickness To Release Debut Solo Album "Places" Inspired by Experiences Traveling America

Oakland, CA - After years as the driving instrumental force behind the guitar/vocal duo, Glass House, guitarist Mark Vickness releases his first solo CD inspired by experiences traveling throughout the US.

“Places” is a modern fingerstyle solo acoustic guitar CD featuring eight original compositions and an arrangement of the spiritual, “I Must Tell Jesus,” which Mark recorded in memoriam to the woman who raised him who died in 2015 at the age of 99.

Says Mark, “Although the music on this CD is inspired by places I have been, it's also about the personal journey of delving into modern fingerstyle guitar in writing and recording these pieces.”

Along the way, Mark enlisted the talents of his wife, Jennifer and his two children, Lucy and Will, to make this a family-inclusive project. Both Jennifer and Will contribute photos to the twelve page color booklet included with the CD. Lucy, who was recently named the Youth Poet Laureate of Oakland, offers one of her poems to accompany the arrangement of “I Must Tell Jesus.”

The places and experiences that inspired these pieces include Thousand Islands Lake in the High Sierra Mountains of California (A Thousand Islands) where Mark got engaged, the Wind River Range in Wyoming where Mark had many tranformative first experiences, Prince William Sound in Alaska, New York City and Hawaii where he had a magical ocean encounter with manta rays (Flight of the Rays).

“Mark Vickness dazzles on his 8 string guitar/bass.” - Tom Semioli, Minor 7th

Modern Fingerstyle Guitar is a genre that traces its roots back to a few early proponents, most notably Michael Hedges. The idea was to expand the musical vocabulary for the steel string acoustic guitar by employing percussive techniques, broader use of harmonics, unique tunings and better ways of amplifying the acoustic guitar to produce a richer, more layered, orchestral sound. That initial idea continues to motivate players to come up with new ways to push the envelope including the use of various effects and looping. Mark employs all of these techniques in these compositions.

Says Mark, “The only rules I set for this CD were that all the pieces be played on a steel string acoustic guitar and that I be able to perform them live as a soloist. I only broke the rules a few times. Because I come from a background as a composer, my focus was on the compositions themselves rather than on any particular fingerstyle technique.”

In addition to writing and performing these pieces on guitar, Mark reached back to his love of composing for string quartet for the coda of the “Wonder Lake Suite.” He also performs the tabla part on “Flight of the Rays.”

“Places” was recorded, engineered and mixed by Dan Feiszli at his studio in El Cerrito, CA and at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley, CA. The string quartet coda on Wonder Lake Suite was performed by two-time grammy award winning violinist/violist Mads Tolling and cellist Joseph Hebert. The CD was mastered by Reuben Cohen at Lurssen Mastering, Burbank, CA. The CD artwork was designed by Teo Mok.

Mark plays a Michael Greenfield G4 fan fret, a Greenfield baritone guitar, a Matt Mustapick custom designed eight string and an Ovation Celebrity Deluxe Double Neck acoustic guitar.

In addition to the video of “I Must Tell Jesus” (https://youtu.be/2N7BU1FVZG8), Mark will be recording several more solo guitar videos in the coming months as well as performing both as a solo guitarist and with Glass House. Glass House is currently in production for its next EP.

Featured Track: Jeffrey Seeman- Jackie's Grace

Jeffrey Seeman's new release Everything In Between features a fine guitar player doing his best to capture your imagination with sound alone.

A good example of that is the track "Jackie's Grace," when his acoustic guitar resonates with a warmth and energy that is just too hard to resist. The twangy reverberating guitar is clear and consistent throughout and a pleasure to listen to.

One of my favorite acoustic guitar players is Adrian Legg and his sound reminded me of that very fondly.

Check out "Jackie's Grace" for yourself and you be the judge.

The British Invasion soon arrived and he moved on to The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, after which the guitars of Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix got him interested in improvisation. Then in the summer of 1969 a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity dropped in his lap: as a 14 year-old he got to work at a rock concert hall, the Ludlow Garage, which was opened by Jim Tarbell on Ludlow Avenue in my neighborhood of Clifton, complete with a Hanley Sound System that arrived from Woodstock with mud that they had to

Instrumental New Age Review: Robert Linton-Beyond The Clearing

Release Date: January 5, 2016
Label: October Moon Records

Beyond The Clearing is Robert Linton’s third studio release. My introduction to Robert was the track “Aside the River Bed.” It was featured on our Rate The Tracks site. His delicate guitar playing led me along the river and I felt like I was there, one with nature.

If music moves you enough to be picturesque then it is doing what intends to. Instrumental tracks must create something other than an auditory experience for the listener. Without words there is no story right? This is not always the case when someone knows how to deliver a message with music alone. Mr. Linton accomplishes this with a flair and excellence on Beyond The Clearing.

“Lingering Rustle” certainly holds a meaning. It is a sound, perhaps a feeling one has, something is moving and trying to tell you something. That lingering could be a feeling you have internally, whether it’s an urging, a rumbling in the stomach or just a voice within giving you direction. That fact that it is lingering indicates that it will not go away unless addressed. This song is very gentle in its approach and Robert
paints the sky with the gentle pastels of his decisive guitar lines. Other instruments come into the picture and are then sprinkled in ever so slightly to accentuate the atmosphere and sincere feeling of the track.

As always I leave the interpretation of each song to each individuals own perception. I look at the CD cover, the title of the track and listen intently then put all of that together as each track develops and then I start feeling certain things and begin seeing a movie unfold in my mind’s eye. This can only happen with exceptional music and this album passed the test.

The title track is always significant and the artist holds up his end of that expectation with “Beyond The Clearing.” Once again gentle acoustic and melodic guitar lines whisper on the wind as it swirls around your being you begin to feel like you are melting into the scenery unfolding in your mind. It is the very essence of beauty and perfection much like the natural surroundings that Robert is standing in the middle of on the cover of this album. A man, his thoughts and his guitar take the barren hot desert and turn it into his own personal heaven. What was once looked at as a desolate and lonely place blooms into a haven of peace and solitude that a spiritual individual can appreciate and want to return to.

Beyond The Clearing is a work of art that an artist with a clear vision of what he wanted to present to a listening audience. The sheer beauty of one instrument leading you down the path of completion and satisfaction is what awaits you inside this music. The sounds and colors that paint this musical canvas are bright with life and the promise of a new day. What more could one ask from a recording?

Featured Stream: Robert Linton-Aside The River Bend

Robert Linton has a new album coming out titled Beyond The Clearing. The focus track is "Aside The River Bend."

The track is much like walking alongside a long and winding river observing the fluctuation of the flow and all the activities one may witness during that stroll.

Robert's guitar is poignant, expressive and beautiful as the nature it emulates. The track is soft yet it makes a strong point as it makes its way into your soul. It touches your senses and you really can relate to the title so much once you listen.

I look forward to hearing the rest of this album as it sounds like it will be a wonderful experience.

More About Robert Linton:

http://www.robertlinton.com

Robert Linton is a musician of deep thoughtfulness, this sensitivity is evident on his recordings of lyrical guitar instrumentals. Linton plays finger-style nylon-string guitar, his songs exude such tranquil beauty and peaceful solace that they work their way into your soul without you even realizing it. They become part of your being without any conscious effort or mood-setting required, which is the essence of true musical artistry.

Robert's first recordings can be found on his 2001 demo, which featured (among others) the songs "Scent of Rain," "Mountain Mist," and "Autumn Moon." These tracks would later be re-recorded and released on his CD Pale Shades. By 2005, Robert had released his second CD Within the Outline. It was while promoting Within the Outline that Robert first connected with noted guitarist and founder of the ground-breaking label Windham Hill, Will Ackerman, (currently the hottest producer in contemporary instrumental music via his Imaginary Road Studios). Agreeing to produce Robert's next CD, Whisperings at Nightfall, Ackerman added other instruments to Robert's sublime guitar compositions, calling on the members of a crew of accompanists who have since been featured on many excellent recordings from Imaginary Road. After the release of Whisperings at Nightfall, Robert took time away from recording his music to write music for the library of Harpo Productions.

In February of 2011, Robert released Throughout the Autumn Light. Mixed, mastered and co-produced (with the artist) by the highly regarded studio engineer and overall sonic wizard Corin Nelsen, the album features a stellar cast of guest artists: Stephen Katz on cello, Jeff Oster on flugelhorn, Tracy Silverman on violin, Jill Haley on English Horn and Jeff Pearce on EBow guitar. In March and April of 2011, Throughout the Autumn Light reached number two on the Zone Music Reporter Top 100 Radio Airply charts. By the beginning of 2012, the CD had been nominated for Best Instrumental Acoustic Album by radio broadcasters reporting to Zone Music Reporter. Also during this time, Throughout the Autumn Light and Whisperings at Nightfall were added to the music library of The C.A.R.E. Channel, a program of Healing Healthcare Systems, which is played in more than 700 leading hospitals around the country.

Featured Stream: Raphael Groten-Sweetness

Raphael Groten has a new release out titled Journey Home. Our focus track is the beautiful and delicate "Sweetness."

Groten takes his acoustic guitar and turns it into a tool to soothe and caress the human mind, body and spirit. With the video provided you will also see what the message is in addition to hearing it.

What I enjoyed is the simplicity and directness of the track. "Sweetness" can come in many different ways and in this case it is being with a loved one and enjoying the splendor of nature and all its gifts.

Groten delivers to the listener and an audio visual treat to help you to realize that the simple things in life are what are most important. Look around you and take it all in and enjoy your life and everything it brings to you on a daily basis. One man, one guitar and music of solitude and gratitude is what I hear. I like the way the video ends with Groten creating a totem on a tree with his guitar and bird feathers. Our Native American father's would be proud!

More About Raphael Groten:

http://raphaelgroten.com

Acoustic guitarist Raphael Groten exhibited amazing patience in waiting until now to release his first solo recording, seeing as he has been playing the instrument for thirty years (and loving every minute of it). His story involves perseverance, happenstance, and coincidence, and even though the seeds of what germinated for years have finally sprouted with the release of 2015's Journey Home, getting there involved some diversions as well as the development of a deep-rooted belief in a world of personal spiritual growth and commitment to using his talent for the betterment of others.

Raphael Groten was born in Philadelphia forty-two years ago on Christmas Day, 1973, into a true music-loving environment. From happy times as the family sang during long car trips to the sizable jazz and classical vinyl collection in the house (with a particular emphasis on bossa nova and Latin-influenced jazz) to the ubiquitous presence of multiple guitars during holiday gatherings, there seemed to be something musical going on at all times. Despite there being a piano available, Raphael first picked up the saxophone as his chosen instrument, beginning with alto sax in the 4th grade and graduating to tenor from grades 7 to 10. He moved on to guitar when he turned 13 and, as they say, the rest is history. First acquiring some informal music training from his mother and sister, Raphael then moved on to formal studies at the University of Vermont, where he majored in Philosophy and minored in Music. While still in high school, he became immersed in folk music and by the end of his Freshman year of college he had composed over 100 songs, collaborating with friends when it came time to write lyrics. After his diploma, he launched his own ten-piece Latin/jazz/funk ensemble, Saudade. The group performed extensively during the late '90s in Burlington, Vermont, and released two albums of Raphael's own compositions.

Even as he was experiencing success with his band, something stirred inside him, some part of him wanted to affect positive change in the world. In 1993, while taking a holistic health class, he met his first shamanic teacher, Susan Grimaldi. In 2001, she would reenter his life at a pivotal moment when he sought personal healing after his four and a half month old son was involved in a near fatal accident. That first night in intensive care he played guitar for his son, while the following day a therapeutic harpist paid them a visit in his son's room, performing for them. It was at this moment when an epiphany dawned for Raphael—his life calling was to compose, perform, and eventually record intentional healing music for people in need. Shortly thereafter, he began shamanic studies, first with Grimaldi and then with Zacciah Blackburn in the field of Sound Healing. He graduated to being a practitioner himself, which he does to this date, offering Sound Circles, individual sessions, group work and apprenticeships, using voice, medicine drum, crystal bowl, flutes and more.

In addition to his work in the Sound Healing field, Raphael also teaches children folk music, and uses singing, dancing, clapping, music theory and song-writing as part of his teaching repertoire. In addition, he also holds private lessons for both guitar and ukulele. As if that wasn't enough to keep him busy,  he is also a contractor, carpenter, and furniture maker, with his own company, Barnoire Furniture and Cabinetry (started in 2001).

It was while sitting in one of his daily meditations in nature (he currently lives in a log cabin atop a mountain in Starksboro, Vermont) that yet another turning point occurred in Raphael's life. He was moved, purely through intuition, to email one of his guitar tracks ("Black River") to Will Ackerman, Windham Hill label founder and owner of Imaginary Road Studios, also in Vermont. In his email, he also requested a meeting to discuss the possibility of Will producing Raphael's first solo recording, featuring fingerstyle acoustic guitar. Fate smiled on him and Will responded the next day. A scant two months later, Groten's debut, Journey Home, was recorded in just two days at Imaginary Road. The experience left a huge impact on Raphael, as he states "I would be remiss in not mentioning the enormous influence and presence of Will Ackerman in my life... I now see, first hand, how Will champions music of this nature."

When asked about his goal for his music, Raphael replies with rock-solid conviction: "To me, being a musician involves offering an uplifting, contemplative, and ultimately healing experience to each listener. As I play each concert and as I write and record each song, I imbue my music with mindful intention for the well-being and healing of all life."

Featured Track: Bob Ardern-Zephyr

Bob Ardern's forthcoming album Eight Winds is due in mid November. We are treated to a sneak peak of what to expect with the beautiful track "Zephyr."

His acoustic guitar is simply sublime and crystal clear on the track. This was indeed a good choice by the artist to give listeners a taste of what is in store.

His guitar picking style weaves into your mind, body and soul and leaves you wanting for more. Mission accomplished!

The music delights and excites while it soothes and entertains. With influences from Celtic, Classical and Jazz, Bob's guitar stylings take the listener on a spectral journey of emotions.

The inspirations for Bob's music come from diverse sources such as a drought in St. Lucia, the purring of a friendly cat, an on-line computer repair and a light-hearted ice dance across a frozen pond. Whether actively listening or playing the music in the background, lovers of acoustic guitar will find this music appealing as a means to de-stress from the pressures of our modern lives.

Track Feature: David Franklin-Song For The Dreaming (feat. Michael Manring)

David Franklin has a new album out titled Playing With Shadows. One of the tracks off the recording is the sublime "Song For The Dreaming" featuring the superlative bass player Michael Manring.

If you happen to appreciate the simplicity of the acoustic guitar and a player that knows not only how to use it to create a desired effect but is also a true master of his craft, then you need to hear Franklin pick on "Songs For The Dreaming."

It is an excellent track that will soothe and calm even the most frazzled individual. It is truly therapeutic music. Listen for yourself and you be the judge.

David Comments:

My hope is that the sounds of these quiet instruments may inspire a few people become more grounded and present, so that they can feel a deeper sense of connection with themselves and others. And I hope that in the most positive of ways, you yourself are inspired to play with your own shadows.

From the Liner Notes of the CD:

This was originally going to be a solo piano album.  The inspiration was partly the purchase of my full-sized grand, and the fact that after 40 years as a musician, I am finally starting to understand the instrument.

However, when Michael Manring agreed to record with me, my instrumental guitar pieces became what I wanted to explore.  As time continued and my vision clarified, I realized there was a lot of chemistry between my piano and guitar pieces, and that recording with Michael was the perfect glue to hold it all together.

I've gone through many phases in my musical life: a keyboardist in a New York rock band, a singer-songwriter touring with my guitar which was never in standard tuning, a drummer supporting myself through college or playing with and recording found-sounds (such as on Shadowlands).  But even though this is my 8th full-length album, it's the one that feels most natural.

The album is entitled Playing With Shadows because I'm playing with my own shadows:  historically I've had difficulty allowing my innermost musical tendencies be experienced. But by playing with these energies and doing my homework around these beliefs, I'm allowing my musical feelings to be heard.  It may sound strange, but it makes sense to me somehow...

My hope is that the sounds of these quiet instruments may inspire a few people become more grounded and present, so that they can feel a deeper sense of connection with themselves and others. And I hope that in the most positive of ways, you yourself are inspired to play with your own shadows.

Thanks for listening!

Guitar Virtuoso and Supertramp Legend Carl Verheyen To Release Second Acoustic Solo Album 'Alone'

“Carl Verheyen is a REAL guitar player!” - Robben Ford

Los Angeles, CA - Guitar aficionados worldwide are eagerly awaiting the release of the new album by guitar virtusoso and Supertramp legend Carl Verheyen on February 14th. Titled 'Alone', this is Carl's second acoustic solo album. In his 40-plus years of playing the instrument, Carl Verheyen has created a wildly successful, multi-faceted career. He is a critically-acclaimed musician, vocalist, songwriter, arranger, producer and educator with 13 CDs and two live DVDs released worldwide. Carl is commonly regarded as a guitar virtuoso capable of playing any style of music with remarkable mastery and conviction. He has been one of LA’s elite “first call” session players for the past 25 years, playing on hundreds of records, movie soundtracks and television shows. Carl has graced the pages of countless industry publications and been the subject of numerous articles chronicling his rise to the forefront of the modern day guitar scene.

The idea for Carl's acoustic solo albums was established many years before he became a guitar hero. Carl relates, “When I was 11 years old and 3 months into guitar lessons, my Dad came into my room and said, 'Play me something, son.' So I played the riff to 'Satisfaction' by the Rolling Stones and he said, 'No, play me a song!' When I argued that this was a song he asked, 'Where's the melody?' I replied that the singer sings the melody and he's not here! But he wouldn't buy that answer and said, 'You should be able to play an entire song.' From that day onward I've endeavored to arrange and play solo guitar and compose original music for it. Since this instrument is one of the few that can accompany itself, I believe every serious guitarist should have music they can play alone. I count my father as a major influence in my development as a musician.”

The music on 'Alone' comes from a variety of sources. Says Carl, “Most of the material on this album is covers of songs I like. Three John Lennon tunes form a little suite in the middle of the set. I recorded some jazz standards, a Peter Gabriel song, a few originals, a movie theme and a Pat Metheny tune. My goal is simple: I only cover a song by another composer if I feel I have something new to say about it. A good musician makes music sound different and the object is to make the standards your own. The recording process was easy! As a few songs come together I'd book some studio time and knock out three or four at one sitting. One phone call, zero cartage trucks full of my amps, just a single guitar case!”

Carl Verheyen has won numerous polls and musical honors in the US, Germany, France, Italy and the UK. A member of the smash hit British rock group Supertramp since 1985, Carl has played to millions of enthusiastic fans in sold out arenas worldwide. As the creative force behind The Carl Verheyen Band, he has released an impressive and eclectic discography that showcases his endless talents across a wide array of musical genres. His musical influences are just as diverse and range from George Harrison, Eric Clapton, Mike Bloomfield, Alvin Lee, Leslie West to Miles Davis, John Mclaughlin, Steve Morse, Chet Atkins and Andy Summers, among others.

“Carl is a true pro and a great player/musician. He can do anything, and as one who is supposed to do this, me (ha-ha), Carl comes through with heart and soul and is really not only an awesome musician but a really good guy. That counts ALOT in this biz, especially these days.” - Steve Lukather

A much sought after studio musician, Carl plays on other artists’ CDs whenever his busy schedule permits. He has recorded and played with a virtual who’s who of the music industry. His vast collection of movie soundtrack and television credits are enviable. Carl was heard by 67, 000,000 people as a featured soloist at the 2009 Academy Awards. He will also be heavily featured in the forthcoming film documentary about the electric guitar, 'Turn It UP!'

On the educational front, Carl has produced two instructional videos called 'Intervallic Rock Guitar' and 'Forward Motion' as well as three master classes for Truefire. He also has a book/CD detailing his unique “intervallic” style called 'Improvising Without Scales'. Another book entitled 'Studio City' is a compilation of all the columns Carl wrote for Guitar Magazine between 1996 and 1999. He has written a monthly column for Chitarre, Italy’s #1 guitar publication as well as Guitar and Bass in both Germany and France and Guitar Techniques in the UK. He currently writes a monthly column for Guitar Player, contributes to other guitar publications, and blogs regularly for GuitarPlayer.com and his own site. Carl also lectures and teaches at clinics and master classes regularly when not on the road.

Carl recently co-designed a signature guitar with LsL Instruments, the “CV Special,” combining the best elements Carl seeks in his ideal guitar; they are now available for purchase worldwide. As if that weren’t enough, working closely with Dean Markley, Carl developed a line of signature strings for the electric guitar that perfectly balance the tremolo bridge of the Fender Stratocaster, the Carl Verheyen Balanced Bridge Helix HD string set .

“Carl is one of those experienced, great players that you could put in any situation and get a wonderful guitar solo. I personally love the fact that he enjoys what he does and radiates positive energy whenever I have seen him.” - Steve Morse

In support of his new CD release, Carl has several west coast shows scheduled for the spring. In closing Carl has this to impart about 'Alone', “Most of these arrangements came about while improvising on the songs during practice sessions. I like to state a melody and see where it takes me, which is the improvised part. The sheer joy of hearing the music in the air can take you to places you've never been as a musician, and I live for that!”
